Aguila Del Norte
Did anybody see them ?
I heard there was a baby
Somebody heard her crying
Weaker through the night
They beat her mama bloody
And shot her with her daddy
It was the terror from above
El aguila del norte
Down in nicaragua
Running from the shadows
Striking holy terror
Deeper in the heart
You believe in freedom
And you believe in justice
But not in nicaragua
Not in nicaragua
Aguila del norte
We can see your power
And the beauty of your freedom
What is in your heart ?
You believe in honor
And you believe in jesus
But not in nicaragua
Not in nicaragua

I think the difference between El Salvador and Nicaragua is that in Nicaragua you had a popular insurrection, and in El Salvador you had a revolution.

Matini
My name is Matini and i am from Nicaragua,
Bu tof the life that swings me so sweet i have not tasted;
So, a son should sit upon my throne like the Wall of Yerusalem.
Life to me is like Nicolas Sarkozy of France,
But my worries are equated to Monmohan Singh of India;
So, a son should sit upon my throne like the Wall of Yerusalem.
Give words to Sasha and Malia,
For i am here in Nicaragua without peace;
But try to deal with me according to your wisdom.

There is a question for which we will never know the answer: had the U.S. not launched the Contra war to overthrow the Sandinista government, would they have succeeded in bringing socioeconomic justice to the people of Nicaragua?

Mal Sacate
Mr. money man, I know youve had your way
And I know the way youre winning
And that bloody hand youre holding
Aint no bargain at the price you had to pay
You have stolen all the land that you can steal
And you killed so many heroes
But the dreams they left behind them
Aint as easy as a man to blow away
Chorus:
And they say, el mal sacate ni el fuego lo quema
And los mexicanos dicen, cosa mala nunca muere
Dont you know ?
The fire dont burn a bad weed boy
And a bad thing never dies
Like the bad weeds growing wild around
The broken wounded body of el salvador
They killed so many heroes
Like zapata (presente!) and fonseca (presente!)
And sandino (presente!) and guevarra (presente!)
And allende (presente!) and aquino (presente!)
And steve biko (presente!)
But they can never kill the human spirit
Not in nicaragua !
Chorus:
And they say, el mal sacate ni el fuego lo quema
And los mexicanos dicen, cosa mala nunca muere
Dont you know ?

The Eagle & The Bear
I will fight and I will die for freedom
Up against an eagle or a bear
And I will help my brother and well sink or swim together
And if you dont like it mister I dont care
cause I have served with honor in the army
I have seen a soldier overseas
I have seen my fatherland stagger like a dying man
Blinded and bewildered by disease
And I aint gonna take it any longer
I cant look around it anymore
Ill defend what I believe in a land of liberty
Like my father did before
Chorus:
And Ill just pray to God for nicaragua
And the sorrow of el salvador today
And Ill say until the day we free mandela
All the world will be in chains

I am still profoundly troubled by the war in Nicaragua. The United States launched a covert war against another nation in violation of international law, a war that was wrong and immoral.

It seems to be that when these communist regimes take over - if you look at the example of Vietnam or Cambodia or Nicaragua - that even in conditions of peace they don't seem to be able to figure out how to support their people, and the human suffering is enormous.

Gripping long stalk.

I think there, there also had been just before I got to Honduras a rather spectacular capture of an arms shipment that from Nicaragua across Honduran test, territory destined for El Salvador and I think that some of that equipment had been also to Cuba and the Soviet bloc.
