Showroom Dummies

1 2 3 4 [in german]
We are standing here
Exposing ourselves
We are showroom dummies
We are showroom dummies
Were being watched
And we feel our pulse
We are showroom dummies
We are showroom dummies
We look around
And change our pose
We are showroom dummies
We are showroom dummies
We start to move
And we break the glass
We are showroom dummies
We are showroom dummies
We step out
And take a walk through the city
We are showroom dummies
We are showroom dummies
We go into a club
And there we start to dance
We are showroom dummies
We are showroom dummies
[repeat to fade]
We are showroom dummies

Beating On Your Drum With A Conscious Done

Beating with a meaning when you come,
Thumping on your drum!
Bummy dee bum dee bum.
Beating with a meaning when you come,
Thumping on your drum!
Bummy dee bum dee bum.
Bummy dee bum dee bum.

Bummy dee bummy dee bummy dum!

When you come.
Beating on your drum with a conscious done.
Know your parade has faded.
When you come.
Know each beat you keep is overdone.
No one there is left to feel,
The zest and zeal you hope appeals.

Bummy dee bummy dee bummy dum!
Bummy dee bummy dee bummy dum!
Bummy dee bummy dee bummy dum!
Bummy dee the dummies when all dummies have gone.
Bummy dee the dummies when the dummies run!

Bummy dee bummy dee bummy dum!
Bummy dee bummy dee bummy dum!
Bummy dee bummy dee bummy dum!
Bummy dee the dummies when all dummies have gone.
Bummy dee the dummies when the dummies run!
Bummy dee the dummies with the honey and the money.

Beating on your drum with a conscious done.

Fixin

i've been thinking
we have pc for dummies books
dog training books for dummies
all kinds of fix-it-yourself ones
to assist us with lifes problems
that sell like star wars dolls

but where are the books
for extracting sorrow for dummies
or for the pain some people
seem to be addicted to
or how to turn a sad person
into one of those happy campers

i struggle with the fear of loss
of losing loved ones
or precious good health
not to mention loss of
reputation which is something
once lost is difficult to retain

Drapers Dummies

What do they dream about standing there
In the windows facing the street?
Eyes transfixed in a strange, far stare,
Smiles so ineffably sweet;
Lady and gentleman dummies clad
In the newest fashion, the latest fad.
Garbed so expensively, well turned out
What have they got to commune about?

Winter comes. Now a chill wind stirs;
The rain comes pattering down
But they suddenly snuggle in coats and furs
And the coziest cloaks in town.
Field-glasses there or a race-book here
'The National? Why, of course, my dear,
I mean to be there tho' Trophet may freeze.
How could I miss it, in clothes like these?'

Spring smiles down and the days grow bright,
And the ladies, garbed anew,
Change, like the tulips, overnight
To gowns of many a hue.
As in a garden gay colors glow,
They are thinking of Henley, the Cup, the Show;
While each glad gentleman, blazer clad,
Is the beau ideal of the sporting lad.

But Henley comes, and the Show, the Cup;
Yet no superior 'gent.'
No simpering lady e'er turns up:
For, still in their windows pent.
Dressed for the revel, how like they seem
To me and to many who stand and dream:
Poor human dummies, but half alive,
Who are always 'going' but never arrive.

Diguised As Someone Wise

It is not easier to dismiss a fool,
Than it is to ignore foolish comments made...
By a low grade idiot,
Diguised as someone wise.

I'm sure this has been tried before by many.
But there is no escaping from dim witted dummies,
Who make it a point,
To go out of their way to express their stupidity!

Then coked, pineappled and baked.
However...

And?
And what?

'That's it?
Nothing political to say?
Nothing racist to incite disdain?
What about relationships?
And the appalling disrespect?
Mediocrity and the rise of ignorance?
What about dumbdowning more dummies?
The lack of discipline? '

Art Meets Space!

Art meets space!
Art, part, start, cart, chart, fart;
12 hours after death! !
Space, lace, face, ace, mace;
And like the white socks presented to you.
The split! !
Abloom, bloom, broom, boom, room, atom;
And like the sign on your face.
Hart, wart, tart, mart, dart, kart, quart! !
To think,
To act,
Bathroom, gloom, from, loom, showroom;
To speak,
To write,
Brace, race, dace, trace, pace!
Infant,
Infact!
Puberty,
Probelms!
Adult,
Worries! !
And like the star wars around you today;
Phantom, Tom, bedroom, classroom, doom, vroom!
Respect, balance, harmony, purified;

The Deadly Dummy

'It's the dummy wot done it,' said Bleary Bill.
'As a child I was out o' luck.
A kid in me pram, that's wot I am
When they gimme the thing to suck.
An' I took to it good, for I like the taste;
With never a thought of a life laid waste.

Then I took to nippin' upon the sly,
Or avin' a suck with a friend,
Tho' a neighbourin' kid warned me, 'e did,
It would get me, sure, in the end.
An' git me it did, as you see today.

An' I'll swear off dummies right on the spot.'

The Closer You Get

Producers for bonnie: hugh murphy/ ronnie scott/ steve wolfe
The street lights start to come on
I know that its time
Stop what youre doin
Meet those drinkin friends of mine
First guy that called me on the telephone
Said get on down but Im stayin at home
Now I believe in love
I believe that its true
That Im defenseless
When Im lookin at you
Sleepy eyes on an angels face
Dont worry, baby
No ones gonna take your place
*the closer you get the better you look
Throw me a line
The closer you get the more that I see
Well sure have a good time
Now I know what youre thinkin
How do I feel
Well theres no rules in my book
Said the closer you get
Oh the better you took
Keepin one foot on the showroom
One on the side
Ive had some close ones
But Im doin all right
Theres gold on his fingers
It dont mean a thing
Hell do his best
To hear this sweet lady sing
Ive got the time if you got the place
Weve got the know how
If you got the space
Weve got the power, weve got no shame
Come over, baby
Sure do wanna light your flame, you know
* repeat

Electric Barbarella

(lebon, rhodes, cuccurullo)
I knew when I first saw you
On the showroom floor
You were made for me
I took you home
And dressed you up in polyester
Princess of my dreams
Emotionless and cold as ice
All of the things I like
The way you look
The way you move
The sounds youre makin
In ultrachrome, latex and steel
I plug you in
Dim the lights
Electric barbarella
Your perfect skin
Plastic kiss
Electric barbarella
Try to resist
Then we touch,
Hallucinate and tranquilize
(shes so fine)
(shes all mine)
Our private life is subject to investigation
No time to waste
People say they heard about our deviation
But you never looked so good
Wear the fake fur and fake pearls for me
And put on your mystery
The way I feel you know
I never keep you waiting
In ultrachrome, latex and steel
(chorus)
Princess of my dreams
Princess of my dreams
Majordomo plasticomo barbarella
(shes so fine)
Progenetic you electric barbarella
(shes all mine)

Proactivity

My new fashion is the ultimate reaction
Proactivity, proactivity yeah
No more waiting for what fate may be creating
Proactivity, proactivity yeah
Keepin' an eye on that karma goin' by
Proactivity, proactivity yeah
Ever ready and my gaze is rock steady
Proactivity for me, proactivity yeah
Wake up and face the animal in you
The frightened lizard that wants to win you
That wants the madness to continue
Screwed into every sinew
Go on pretending you don't know the ending
All the things that you weren't intending
But your broadcast continued sending
Now you're just hoping to blend in
I can't digs it, no one else is gonna fix it
Proactivity for me, proactivity yeah
Air keeps stinkin' while we sit here thinkin'
No activity, proactivity yeah
Keep on fakin', it's a fake world you're makin'
Proactivity, proactivity yeah
Crash test dummies never saw it comin'
Inactivity, proactivity yeah
Look who's talkin', the last believer
I'm the one who was happy with neither
The last to come and the first to leave it
I tossed my faith in the river
My mistake, my philosophy busted
I watched my future become encrusted
I had a dream, but I refused to trust it
Now I've finally sussed it

Silent Witness

The neon haze of city lights
The tribal sound of marching feet
Cuts through the gloom on cold dark nights
The tired and homeless roam the streets
The sirens wail the engines roar
A shadowed man just glances around
A victim of life's mindless toil
Lies cold and helpless on the ground
The window dummies silent stare
Bear witness on the nights
If they could move
What it would proved
To see them all take flight
The neon haze of city lights
The tribal sound of marching feet
Cuts through the gloom on cold dark nights
The tired and homeless roam the streets
The walls shout loud with angry words
The people air their views
The poor can scream but no-one hears
The concrete jungle sings the blues

Back When - Tim McGraw

Don't you remember
The fizz in a pepper,
Peanuts in a bottle
At ten, two, and four.
A fried bologna (boloney) sandwich,
With mayo and tomato,
Sittin' 'round the table
Don't happen much anymore.
We got too complicated,
It's all way overrated,
I like the old-and-out-dated,
Way of life
(chorus)
Back when a hoe was a hoe,
A coke was a coke,
And crack's what you were doin'
When you were crackin' jokes.
Back when a screw was a screw.,
The wind was all that blew,
And when you said, 'I'm down with that, '
Well, it meant you had the flu.
I miss back when,
I miss back when,
I miss back when.
I love my records,
Black, shiny vinyl,
Clicks, and pops, and white noise,
Man, they sounded fine.
I had my favorite stations,
The ones that played them all,
Country, soul, and rock-and-roll,
What happened to those times?
I'm readin' Street Slang for Dummies,
'Cause they put pop in my country,
I want more for my money,
The way it was back then.
(chorus)
Give me a flat top for strummin',
I want the whole world hummin',
Just keep it comin',
The way it was back then.
(chorus)
I miss back when,
I miss back when.

In His House Of Standard Things

to make perhaps an impression of what is beautiful
he lets me in his house
he gives me some drinks and he begins to tell me
what indeed is beautiful

he chooses his colors
mostly green with whites embedded like pearls
on blue green seaweeds under a deep blue sea

he chooses the shapes that fit
mostly spherical and embossed
he likes static things like sculptures of the
busts of great men that he adores

light is not as bright as he wants it to be
more of dusks and twilights
for he does need not so much light to make his life visible
he likes the touch of silk and threads
he adores the gentleness of the wind
exquisitely plucked from a dawning breeze

and then after i have seen them all
he asks me to leave
it is a matter of simply having me in
for a showroom
a lecture on what is beautiful

how i wish to be back in that house again
green and white and shades of these two colors
but it is over
and the house has since been flown to the sky
and its doors and windows closed
and the door bell
had since been concealed with a thick wall
and the gate is locked with steel bars

well, for wherever he is
and whether his house was real or not
let me say, (and that i really forgot)
thank you sir

tomorrow, i will build a house of my own
but it will not be green and white
i will choose the pastel orange side of things like the sunset of my life
and some reds and pinks for the love of my life

Black & White Television

I looked in the mirror then
Saw my face in a dream.
With eyes sharp as diamonds
Blessed with clear vision.
Things were not as they seemed.
Black and white television
Stared back from the wall.
Is that my life?
Am I here at all?
Down in the high road, see
Motor cavalcades glide
Past shopwindow dressers
Desperately covering
All the parts they can hide.
Black and white television
Stares at me again.
Is that their lives?
Even dummies pretend.
The truth is so hard to deny.
The answer is here.
The screen never lies.
Black and white television.
Its the right television.
Show me its all a dream tonight.
The boys on the corner sulk
In their suzuki haze.
In primary colours
(each year more startling)
But they still fade to grey
On black and white television.
Its sweeping the land.
Is that your life?
Do you understand?
The truth is so hard to deny.
The answer is here.
The screen never lies.
Black and white television.
Back the right television.
Black and white television.
Hard to fight television.
Show me its all a dream tonight.

Trampled Under Foot

Grease me straight down, good electric
I could lay it on the road, mama, it aint no trick
Talkin bout love
Talkin bout love
Talkin bout
Ooh, trouble-free transmission, helps your oils flow
Mama, let me pump your gas, mama, let me do it all
Talkin bout love, huh
Talkin bout love, ooh
Talkin bout
Take that heavy metal underneath your hood
Baby, I could work all night, leave a big pile of tubes
Talkin bout lo-ove
Talkin bout lo-ove
Talkin bout
Automobile club-covered, really built in style
Special is tradition, mama, let me feast my eyes
Talkin bout love
Talkin bout love
Talkin bout
Factory air-conditioned, wind begins to rise
Guaranteed to run for hours, mama, and brand-new tires
Talkin bout love
Talkin bout love
Talkin bout
Groovin on the freeway, blazes on the road
]from now on my gasoline is even gonna conk your hair
Talkin bout love
Talkin bout love
Talkin bout
I cant stop talkin about
I cant stop talkin about
Ooh, yeah-yeah, yes, ah, drive on
Ooh, yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yes, Im comin through
Come to me for service every hundred miles
Baby, let me check your valves, fix your overdrive
Talkin bout love
Talkin bout love
Talkin bout
Ooh, yes, fully automatic, comes in any size
Makes me wonder what I did, before I got synchronized
Talkin bout lo-ove
Talkin bout love
Talkin bout
Ooh, feather-light suspension, coils just couldnt hold
Im so glad I took a look inside your showroom doors
Talkin bout love
Talkin bout lo-oo-oh-ove
Talkin bout
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Oh, I cant stop talkin about love
I cant stop talkin about love
Ooh, let me go in down, go in down, go in down, go in down, go in down, yes
I cant stop talkin about
I cant stop talkin about lo-oh, baby
