Hot Potatoes
My baby woke me up this mornin
She said get down that labour exchange,
And if you dont come home with a job son,
Youll get no dinner to-day.
You gotta secure me a weekly workin wage.
Youll get no more fancy cookin,
Youll get no more apple pie,
Youll just get those plain hot potatoes
To satisfy your appetite.
La la la la la la potatoes,
Boiled, french fried, any old way that you wanna decide.
Hot potatoes, yeh,
I want your lovin every single day.
I said I dont need your fancy cooking,
I like the simple things in life,
Just give me those plain hot potatoes
And Ill be well satisfied,
Theyll satisfy my appetite.
La la la la la la potatoes,
Boiled, french fried, any old way that you wanna decide.
Hot potatoes, yeh,
I want your lovin 60 minutes an hour,
I want your lovin 24 hours a day,
I want your lovin 7 days a week.
Yeh, yeh, oh yeh.
I want your love, I need your love,
But all I get is hot potatoes
When I come home late at night
To satisfy my appetite.
Dont give me no more potatoes,
Boiled, french fried, any old way you wanna decide.
Hot potatoes,
I want your lovin every single day.
I want your lovin
La la la la la la potatoes,
Boiled, french fried, any old way that you wanna decide.
Hot potatoes, hot potatoes, yeh.

The 'Potato' Poem
I love potatoes chopped up into chunky chips.
I love spicy potato wedges, served up with dips.
I love potato slices which have been fried in a pan:
Of sautéed potatoes, I am the world's biggest fan.
I love potatoes which have been pummelled and bashed
With butter and milk to make a real light, fluffy mash.
Jacket potatoes, I find a bit dry, but with a nice filling
Such as chilli, to give them a try, I am more willing.
With breakfast, I love hash browns or potato cakes,
And I love potatoes mixed up with leeks in a bake.
Crispy, golden potatoes, served up with Sunday roast
Are among the kinds of potato which I love the most.
Mixed in soups and casseroles, I love potatoes diced.
On top on minced beef hotpot, I love potatoes sliced.
Fluffy potato stuffed inside a crispy potato croquette
Is also rather nice, and, for me, it is another safe bet.
I love potatoes cut into crisps: the slices, wafer thin,
And, as a starter, I simply love loaded potato skins:
I do adore a delicious dish of Bombay potato curry:
For me, it is a taste which I won't forget in a hurry.
I like potatoes diced up with creamy mayonnaise,
Served up with salad on really hot summer days.
But I don't like potatoes which have been boiled:
From potatoes, cooked this way, in horror, I recoil.

Love's Menu: Pommes de Terre Frites
Fried potatoes is a dish
Good as any one could wish:
Cheap it is, and appetizing;
Turn a saint to gormandizing:
Good and cheap and tasty too,
Just the thing for Love's Menu.
Love is dainty, and his food,
Even though common, must be good:
Love hath little to disburse,
So his fare must fit his purse:
Love hath fickle appetite,
We his palate must invite:
Crisp and hot, the price a sou,
Fried Potatoes, Love's Menu.

Skin & Bone
Fat flabby annie was incredibly big
She weighed just about sixteen stone
And then a fake dietician went and put her on a diet
Now she looks like skin and bone.
Do the meditation and yoga
And shes thrown away the good food guide
And shes given up the alcohol and pizzas
And the pies and now she looks as if shes ready to die,
You cant see her walk by.
Dont eat no mashed potatoes,
Dont eat no buttered scones
Stay away from carbohydrates
Youre gonna look like skin and bone.
Living on the edge of starvation
And she says shes got no appetite
And her father and her mother
And her sisters and her brothers
Couldnt see her when she walked by
She looked like skin and bone.
Dont eat no mashed potatoes,
Dont eat no buttered scones
Stay away from carbohydrates
Youre gonna look like skin and bone.
She used to be so cuddly,
She used to be so fat,
But oh what a sin cos shes oh so thin
That she lost all the friends that she had,
She looks like skin and bone
If you look flabby
And you feel overweight,
And you wanna lose a couple of stone,
Take a crash course diet do your daily exercises
And youll look like skin and bone.
Come on rattle them bones,
Put your hands up to the ceiling,
Bend your hips and touch your toes,
Do your daily exercises,
Youre gonna look like skin and bone,
Dont eat no mashed potatoes, etc.

Beans and Potatoes
Seventeen years on the graveyard shift
Retetitive work leaves her hands in pain
Swollen are her feet, fifty hours a week
leaves her body drained
Week to week pays of nothing more than minimum wage
Making ends meet is a constant strain
Beans and potatoes
All she has to show for her pain
A cigarette on her midnight break
As every muscle continues to ache
Knowing when arriving home her work is never done....
Wake the kids, rush them to school
Only then the real work has begun.
Grabs her pail to tend the garden crop
In the Kentucky mud, only the best potatoes she will shop
Put the beans on the stove, peel the potatoes,
Feed the children, tuck them into bed
Only then her work will stop
Every hour spent in the garden, and on the hard concrete factory floor
Every miracle made with the monthly bills
Are moments closer to lives her children will never endure
No money saved for a rainy day, nor money for college
Only by example she can lead, so each child knows
To want more out of their lives than beans and potatoes

Diet Song
Well breakfast black coffee one slice of dry toast no butter no jelly no jam
Lunch just some lettuce two celery stalks no booze no potatoes no ham
Dinner one chicken wing broiled not fried no gravy no biscuits no pie
And this dietin' dietin' dietin' dietin' sure is a rough way to die
So pass me a carrot stick peel me a prune a glass of skim milk and that's all
Turn off the TV for the Big Mac commercial it's drivin' me straight up the wall
And I'm think' of french fries sausage and waffles spaghetti and cookies and cake
And each night I'm dreamin' of chocolate ice cream and
I'm starvin' to death when I wake all for your sake
You're fixin' the kids all those creamed mashed potatoes
But it's bouillon and water for me and you got a lock on the refrigerator
Lord knows where you're hidin' the key
And while I am starvin' for food late at night I'm starvin' for lovin' from you
But you say that when I can see my own dick you'll be glad to look at it too
So supper two pieces of cauliflower raw some beefsteak the size of a nail
One sliced tomato a small dab of slaw I swear I ate better in jail
Stop eatin' that pizza right under my nose girl that's the least you can do
And put down that candy bar while I am singin' I'm starvin' my ass off for you
And when I am dead with the insurance paid you'll look down at me and you'll grin
You'll say well the boy tried and he suffered and died
But don't he look good when he's thin

Lovin You Against My Will
(jamie ohara)
I dont wanna hurt nobody
Dont wanna make nobody cry
I dont wanna do wrong, I dont wanna do wrong
I dont wanna tell no lies
Im lovin you, lovin you against my will
Lovin you, lovin you against my will
I dont wanna hear the phone ring
Dont wanna hear your voice on the line
I dont wanna come to you, I dont wanna come to you
I dont wanna give in this time
Girl, Im lovin you, lovin you against my will
Your love is like a deep dark river
Pullin me out to sea
The harder I try to resist you
The weaker I seem to be
I dont wanna turn down your side street
I dont wanna pull in your drive
Dont wanna see you standin there, dont wanna see you standin there
Dont wanna see that look in your eyes
Girl, Im lovin you, lovin you against my will
Your love is like a deep dark river
Pullin me out to sea
The harder I try to resist you
The weaker I seem to be
I dont wanna feel your heartbeat
I dont wanna taste your kiss
I dont wanna call your name, I dont wanna call your name
I dont wanna want you like this
Girl, Im lovin you, lovin you against my will
Lovin you, lovin you against my will

Lets Call The Whole Thing Off
George and ira gershwin
You say either
And I say either
You say neither
And I say neither
Either, either, neither, neither
Lets call the whole thing off
You like potatoes
And I like potatoes
You like tomatoes
And I like tomatoes
Potatoes, potatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes
Lets call the whole thing off
But oh, if we call the whole thing off
Then we must part
And oh, if we ever part
Then that might break my heart
So it you like pajarnas and I like pajamas
Ill wear pajamas and give up pajamas
For we know we need each other
So wed better call the calling off, off
Lets call the whole thing off
So if you go for oysters
And I go for oysters
Ill order oysters and cancel the oysters
For we know we need each other
So wed better call the calling off, off
Lets call the whole thing off

A Modern Day Miracle
Where could you find an example
of true faith in the twentieth century?
‘Faith Like Potatoes’ to plant
in El Nino, in drought, in dust
a never grown before potato crop?
Angus Buchan, a farmer, in Durban
South Africa declared before 35,000
“To hell with El Nino! We are going
to plant this year! And we are going
to plant potatoes.” Fool or Man of Faith?
The Wisdom Of The Modern World
Scientists warned farmers not to plant!
“Do not plant this season unless
you have irrigation.” Angus had none!
Planting planting potatoes in dust
would be a massive massive risk!
It would require a miracle!
Did Angus expect a miracle?
Or was he an experienced potato farmer?
Angus was a maize and cattle farmer!
He had never grown potatoes!
No farmer could grow potatoes in drought!
Not in drought without irrigation!
But all farmers and men of faith
know a crop, a harvest is grown,
from a seed, a seed of planted faith.
Angus prayed and prayed
during the planting and he knew;
in his heart that the Lord;
wanted him to plant potatoes.
Angus expected a modern day miracle from God!
God has complained men lack faith!
To dream their dreams large enough!
Angus planted potatoes in dust on his farm in drought!
Without irrigation without water on his farm in faith!
Angus hired two extra farms, planted potatoes in their dust!
If the potato crop failed, Angus would loose everything!
“Faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not yet seen.” Hebrews 11: 1.
Potatoes grow under the ground
and are not seen until the harvest!
Angus planted in faith; reaped a miracle of faith!
“because the righteous one will live by reason of faith.” Galatians 3: 11.
“The condition for a miracle is difficulty,
however the condition for a great miracle
is not difficulty, but impossibility.” Angus Buchan
“Seek and you shall find knock
and the door shall be opened to you.”

The Potatoes' Dance
(A Poem Game.)
I
"Down cellar," said the cricket,
"Down cellar," said the cricket,
"Down cellar," said the cricket,
"I saw a ball last night,
In honor of a lady,
In honor of a lady,
In honor of a lady,
Whose wings were pearly-white.
The breath of bitter weather,
The breath of bitter weather,
The breath of bitter weather,
Had smashed the cellar pane.
We entertained a drift of leaves,
We entertained a drift of leaves,
We entertained a drift of leaves,
And then of snow and rain.
But we were dressed for winter,
But we were dressed for winter,
But we were dressed for winter,
And loved to hear it blow
In honor of the lady,
In honor of the lady,
In honor of the lady,
Who makes potatoes grow,
Our guest the Irish lady,
The tiny Irish lady,
The airy Irish lady,
Who makes potatoes grow.
II
"Potatoes were the waiters,
Potatoes were the waiters,
Potatoes were the waiters,
Potatoes were the band,
Potatoes were the dancers
Kicking up the sand,
Kicking up the sand,
Kicking up the sand,
Potatoes were the dancers
Kicking up the sand.
Their legs were old burnt matches,
Their legs were old burnt matches,
Their legs were old burnt matches,
Their arms were just the same.
They jigged and whirled and scrambled,
Jigged and whirled and scrambled,
Jigged and whirled and scrambled,
In honor of the dame,
The noble Irish lady
Who makes potatoes dance,
The witty Irish lady,
The saucy Irish lady,
The laughing Irish lady
Who makes potatoes prance.
III
"There was just one sweet potato.
He was golden brown and slim.
The lady loved his dancing,
The lady loved his dancing,
The lady loved his dancing,
She danced all night with him,
She danced all night with him.
Alas, he wasn't Irish.
So when she flew away,
They threw him in the coal-bin,
And there he is today,
Where they cannot hear his sighs
And his weeping for the lady,
The glorious Irish lady,
The beauteous Irish lady,
Who
Gives
Potatoes
Eyes."

Sooner Or Later
(t. faragher / d. ironstone)
The way you walked in the room
Kindled a fire
And if you went to the moon
You couldnt get higher
Just like a thief in the night
I busted your steer
You turned to put up a fight
But I wasnt there
How does it feel?
Who needs permission?
How does it feel
When somethings missin?
Even your heart, its under suspicion
You cant turn back and its plain to see, oh, ho
With every step that you take
Youll be lovin me sooner or later
cause when it comes down to fate
Youll be lovin me sooner or later
Oh, oh, I know
You play that game of control
But take no position, mmm, mmm
You never let yourself go
A tragic condition
And by that look on your face
You love all the pleasure
Dont let this chance slip away
Why wait forever?
Everyone needs some love and affection
One of these days youre gonna listen
Take it from me, Im not your no exception
And thats a solid-gold guarantee
With every step that you take
Youll be lovin me sooner or later, oh
cause when it comes down to fate
Youll be lovin me sooner or later
Oh, ho, I know
(with every step that you take)
Youll be lovin me sooner or later, oh, oh
(cause when it comes down to fate)
Youll be lovin me sooner or later
Oh, oh
(with every step that you take)
Youll be lovin me sooner or later, youll be lovin me
(cause when it comes down to fate)
With every breath that you take
Youll be lovin, lovin, mmm
(with every step that you take)

For Merit
To Parmentier Parisians raise
A statue fine and large:
He cooked potatoes fifty ways,
Nor ever led a charge.
'_Palmam qui meruit'_-the rest
You knew as well as I;
And best of all to him that best
Of sayings will apply.
Let meaner men the poet's bays
Or warrior's medal wear;
Who cooks potatoes fifty ways
Shall bear the palm-de terre.

I Need Your Lovin

Recorded by freeport
Mainstream mrc 730 / 1969
Your love
Is softer than the rain
Smile and ease the pain
And heal my mind again
Ive got to turn away to keep myself from cryin
But everywhere I turn, I only see you
I need your lovin baby
Got to have your lovin baby
I need your lovin baby
Ive got to have you in every way
Ive got to have you in every way
Ive got to have you in every way
I need your lovin baby
Got to have your lovin baby
I need your lovin baby
Right now
I give my love to you
And after we are through,
Then Ill belong to you
Ive got to have you all to myself, yeah
If Ive got you, I dont need nobody else
I need your lovin baby
Got to have your lovin baby
I need your lovin baby
Ive got to have you in every way
Ive got to have you in every way
Ive got to have you in every way
I need your lovin baby
Got to have your lovin baby
I need your lovin baby
I need your lovin baby
Got to have your lovin baby
I need your lovin baby
Got to have your lovin baby

One Potato
One potato, two potato
three potato four.
We need some potatoes
to help feed the poor.
Too many hungry babes
are being born today.
When their mother's milk runs dry
they'll have to find a way
to keep their bellies full.
No time for play.
One potato, two potato,
three potato, four.
You say into each life
a little rain must pour?
I say the rain's that's falling
are tears from the eyes
that run down children's faces
from hunger pains and cries
that elude the ears of rich ones
that never ever buys
potatoes for them all.

Some Of Your Lovin
Gerry goffin / carole king)
You gotta give me some
Give me some of your lovin
You gotta give me some of your lovin
Now Im not a greedy girl
I dont need the world
(just give me some)
Some of your lovin now, oh, oh, oh, oh
Now I dont expect you to guarantee
Your faith and devotion to only me
Im aware you got a lot of wild oats to sow
But baby when I need you
Dont you tell me no
You gotta give me some
(give me some of your lovin)
Oh yes you do now
You gotta give me some of your lovin
Now Im not a jealous child
My demands are mild
(just give me some)
Some of your lovin now, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
I know a man likes to feel that hes been around
Before he decides to settle down
Ive no doubt
Some day youre gonna feel that way too
But baby, just remember
(until you do)
You gotta give me some
(give me some of your lovin)
Oh yes you do now
I mean to tell you
(you gotta give me some)
Of your lovin
Now Im not a greedy girl
I dont need the world
(just give me some)
Some of your lovin now, oh oh, oh, oh
You gotta give me some, some of your lovin
I mean to tell you
(you gotta give me some of your lovin)
Oh, dont forget about me now
I mean to tell you, oh
Ah, you gotta give me some of your lovin
Some of your lovin

The Frim Fram Sauce
(joe ricardel, redd evans)
I dont want french fried potatoes,
Red ripe tomatoes,
Im never satisfied.
I want the frim fram sauce with the ausen fay
With chafafa on the side.
I dont want pork chops and bacon,
That wont awaken
My appetite inside.
I want the frim fram sauce with the ausen fay
With chafafa on the side.
A fella really got to eat
And a fella should eat right.
Five will get you ten
Im gonna feed myself right tonight.
I dont want fish cakes and rye bread,
You heard what I said.
Waiter, please serve mine fried
I want the frim fram sauce with the ausen fay
With chafafa on the side.
~interlude~
A fella really got to eat
And a fella should eat right.
Five will get you ten
Im gonna feed myself right tonight.
I dont want fish cakes and rye bread,
