With this announcement today, the Army has made it clear what we have known all along - that Fort Riley is truly the crown jewel of the United States Army.
Nappy and Happy And Not Harried
I have never been 'black'.
Not midnight black.
Or even shown that,
At the crack of dawn.
I know that for a fact.
I would get up early to look.
And when I became African-American...
What happened to the West Indian part of me?
All I know is this,
Someone made an announcement...
And that part of my heritage,
Became a subdivision.
Like an urbanite separated...
From the others who surrounded,
In neighborhoods of suburban glee.
And when I wished to take all of that back,
To proclaim, in fact, I am indeed black...
It seems those who were lighter than I,
Wanted me to prove my loyalty too.
As if they had to approve...
My manner of speech,
And other things I chose to do.
I think they were trying to confuse me.
As confused as some of them appeared to be.
Sometimes when I did then reminisce,
The days of my youth I admit I missed...
I remember just being a 'Negro'.
And not have a concern...
On whose list I did not fit.
I was just 'Larry'...
Nappy and happy and not harried!

To the socialist no nation is free whose national existence is based upon the enslavement of another people, for to him colonial peoples, too, are peoples, and, as such, parts of the national state.

Suffering An Action
An announcement follows an action of dire strength,
The maddening relief has made guns and rifles.
Your hand rejects the firing of men, the whole band of skills,
Then finally a singing and tiring song mastered itself.
May the relish of dancing be made to suffer,
Must we decide how to fail and sadly act?
The announcement of my soul is like the proclamations
Too immediate, too final;
An auction has been committed, finally in the back of the neck,
Justifying my presence and all types of people.

From The Dark Aged Continent
A people comes hurrily
from the dark aged continent,
emerging as the world super-power
in no distant time.
A people once a colony
of one European species;
a people once oppress’d,
and culture down-turn’d by the bleach’d culture.
Here comes the people of tough black skin,
conquering peoples upon peoples
to rule the whole world with
their own refin’d science and arts:
a people of one soul, one way, one mind.

The farmer and his wife (Sestina)
A girl was lying down flat on her back
with a straw hat at eye height over hair,
she was sun-struck, curling and fair
with a rain cloud ominous and black
drifting in a blue sky and a small track
meandering past and it needed some repair.
Some of your makeup is in need of repair,
there’s a guitar bag slung over your back
where you walk pass the girl at the dirt track
with the strong wind frizzling through your hair
and the sky is already turning black
but the evening up to now is fair.
Slowly you walk past the local fair
with some of the stalls needing repair,
the guitar you are carrying is black
and you walk straight on, do not look back
at the whistles of some men with long hair
while home you take a narrow long track.
Watching our horses on the racetrack
you are really sexy and very fair,
our horses do parade with shining hair
you notice that the stands need some repair
and I am standing somewhat at your back
while you are dressed prettily in black.
The highway is like a ribbon that is black
where it meets the old overgrown farm track,
there are huge blue-gum trees some way back
and you agree that the price of the Lucerne is fair
where some cows graze at the pen, needing repair,
swishing with tails to drive flies from their hair.
I pull my fingers slowly through my hair
and there are streaks of grey in the black,
but the cattle are only doing fair
while my love is coming with the field’s track
that must constantly be kept in repair
and I hear her singing over my back.
There were torn out hair a long time back,
when I met my darling and she was fair,
at a fight at a track, I was in need of repair.

An Ideal State?
The brazen blare of trumpets sounds.
As we approach the temple grounds
the rattling kettle drums compete
with ominously marching feet.
The people gather here today
in the old time honoured way.
To hear our leaders justify
why they have failed to satisfy.
The peoples wants, the peoples needs.
Explain their actions and their deeds
The leaders have no other choice
but hearken to the peoples voice.
If they have failed without just cause.
The peoples justice will enforce
summary execution.
A permanent solution.
For politicians who have lied
by all their fellows they are tried.
Allowed to mount their own defence
they must depend on eloquence.
We listen to their argument
and we consider their intent.
Their motives are what we must judge
This is no time for them to fudge.
They ruled as triumvirate
and so they must anticipate.
If one is guilty then all three
Will suffer the same penalty.
If we adjudge them innocent
by a unanimous consent.
They can retire honourably
having served us honestly.
We the people make the rules
elect the leaders as our tools.
To do as we instruct them to
They do not rule the peopled do.
If we decide they are corrupt.
The peoples anger will erupt.
For them there can be no appeal
it was their choice to cheat and steal.
An object lesson plain to see
for those who aspire to be.
Part of the next triumvirate
Chosen to serve our city state.
Ours is a true democracy
where every citizen is free.
To stand for office or refrain.
Those who have served may serve again.
But every two years they must face
the peoples judgement of their case.
Honest men need have no fear
dishonest men just disappear.
Stripped of all their ill gotten wealth
which they aquired by craft and stealth.
They pay the final penalty
they’re put to death immediately.
The peoples will is sovereign
Offenders will not sin again
This is a dream I’m sad to say
and not true of our world today.
Today our world is ruled by greed.
Use any method to succeed.
rewarded for dishonesty.
The people pay the penalty.

Mumbai In August
Mumbai never sleeps
But in rainy it creeps
When August sets in
For days it is resting.
Rain disrupt road, rail, air
Impossible go any where
Water logged on roads
Streets looked more broad.
Commuter’s morning start
Getting ready for the work
They packed tiffins taken
Reach nearest rail station.
Find railway track sunken
From station they return
On announcement listened
Their train is cancelled.
But it’s joy for the children
At doorstep came the ocean
Lot of water to jump and play
To make fun, swim and sway.

An Announcement
he has
an announcement
to make
he has one
thing to say
lady justice
is still working
in his country
even without
the cooperation
of the majority
of those
whose robes
remain
blacker than
ever
the people
have not spoken
yet
but there is
rejoicing
from their
hearts
the need to walk
in the streets
is dispensed with
the cheat and
the liar
the corrupt
and the
dishonest
has finally
fallen
'bad karma!
bad karma! '
the islands are
shouting
the sea is calm
the night is cold
joy is jumping

The future
The future is here
and I am beginning to fear
that the end of life as I know it
is very near
and society has changed from some integrity
to none and corruption.
Those that were oppressed
are now oppressing
with the world’s blessing
and use Black Economic Exploitation by law
to get the Revenge of the Dark People’s going
and work is scarce
or totally nonexistent
and I rather have my old broken world back

Back In Black (live 1981)
Back in black
I hit the sack
I've been too long I'm glad to be back [I bet you know I'm...]
Yes, I'm let loose
From the noose
That's kept me hanging about
I've been looking at the sky
'Cause it's gettin' me high
Forget the hearse 'cause I never die
I got nine lives
Cat's eyes
Abusin' every one of them and running wild
CHORUS:
'Cause I'm back
Yes, I'm back
Well, I'm back
Yes, I'm back
Well, I'm back, back
(Well) I'm back in black
Yes, I'm back in black
Back in the back
Of a Cadillac
Number one with a bullet, I'm a power pack
Yes, I'm in a bang
With a gang
They've got to catch me if they want me to hang
Cause I'm back on the track
And I'm beatin' the flack
Nobody's gonna get me on another rap
So look at me now
I'm just makin' my play
Don't try to push your luck, just get out of my way
CHORUS
Well, I'm back, Yes I'm back
Well, I'm back, Yes I'm back
Well, I'm back, back
Well I'm back in black
Yes I'm back in black
hooo yeah
Ohh yeah
Yes I am
Oooh yeah, yeah Oh yeah
Back in now
Well I'm back, I'm back
Back, I'm back
Back, I'm back
Back, I'm back
Back, I'm back
Back
Back in black
Yes I'm back in black

5. Capital Trip
I remember in the fifties, as we stood there in the rain
On the platform where a porter pulled a trolley
I remember as we waited for the early morning train
Getting soaking wet we wished we’d took a brolly
I remember grubby paint on the bridge across the track
Dark blue signs that showed us all the stations name
I remember postmen rushing with letters in a sack
That they put down in the puddles what a shame
I remember an announcement the ping-pong of a bell
Telling passengers the train was nearly there
I remember those vibrations on my feet so I could tell
Like the others to the distance I should stare
I remember steam clouds rising above a smoking stack
As it thundered down the track towards our stop
I remember stationmaster’s gold braid upon his hat
Calling all the first class forward to the top
I remember its arrival as the doors flung open wide
Leather straps on carriage windows dark brown tan
I remember waving madly with my family by my side
Moving off and how our London trip began

Even though
Even though a new government
is in place,
in Soweto, Alexandra and Mamelodi
there are still hungry children
playing in the streets.
Even though BEE and opportunity
knocks on every black mans door,
hungered out dogs
still prowl the streets
and gangs of criminals
do not have respect
for any law at all
and steal and kill
and society in a way
is much worst than it was before.
Even though black politicians rule
the Filemons, the Thabo’s and most
other black men
still do the jobs
that they did before
and most of those
that now work for the government
do not know
how to work at all.
Even though mister Nelson Mandela is free
and in Dar es-Salaam
a statue of a black man
breaks its chains
and freedom is proclaimed
to be everywhere in this country,
freedom does not really matter
when a nation still lives in poverty
and corruption makes some people
more free than others
know how to be.

What Upsets About His Leadership
What upsets about his leadership?
He is extremely competent.
And many can not get over it.
He had been a novelty in that position.
And elected for his brilliance.
Those who oppose him in the polls...
Are doing their best,
To keep their ignorance and bigotry...
Less exposed.
What upsets about his leadership?
He is extremely competent.
And many can not get over it.
With an announcement of his agenda,
He began to make clean sweeps.
Corruption, greed and gluttony,
Under his command...
'Will' and is going to cease.
With an announcement of his agenda,
He began to make clean sweeps.
This activity has never been witnessed berfore!
A thorough cleaning from ceiling to floor.
He has traumaticized those,
Who had been exclusively fed first.
And now they are shown the exit.
Quicker than expected.

Most effective tools
It is high tension drama with lots of worries
When any new channels are in air with full of stories
Makes great impact when something special in head lines it carries
It is news almost in leading papers and in all the dailies
Now the dailies are with full news of scandals, robberies and murders
Some prominence might be shown at the shooting down of intruders
The suicidal attacks and bomb blasts are prime news for circulation
Welfare and other works find hardly mention or indication
Medias has always occupied highest position and is considered as mirror
Enough care is taken to report it precisely without any error
The sanctity of news report is maintained very strictly
It is weighed deeply and thought over before reported correctly
It is one of the powerful medium for reporting news
Its impartiality and credibility is expressed with views
Normally no dirty game is played so far as the news are concerned
But of late it has involved in the race where some dignitaries are cornered
It is nice to report about the gloomy side of the ailing society
It may be takes as awareness drive with some what news as variety
It has one of the strongest arms to report even what is not reported
We have seen the effectiveness of reports when even mighty is deported
Gone were the days when complete black out was to be imposed
It was taking enough of time even after trust was restored or reposed
Now with powerful print media and news, it has reached even remote
It has even proved powerful weapon to restore peace and also to promote
How effectively it can serve to the public interest?
What ingredient should be considered healthy or best?
This should be publicly debated and put to opinion
It can harm interest if resorted to as protesting union
So many disturbing news are now occupying prominent space
There is mad competition and even deadly and dangerous race
The news are reported only to highlight as first source to disclose
They have no interest whatsoever to take up the ordinary cause
We come across many shows which are nothing but gimmick
It involves nothing new but lack super talent and basic
They serve only limited interest with no broader prospective
Their activities may then be restricted and act as totally inactive
Since they are considered as one the most effective tools
It becomes their prerogative and goal not to act as fools
They may loose all the respect if confined to narrow interests
Nothing may come out from their reporting as extra ordinary or best
