Remittance Man
Sinner on the mainland
Hes a sinner on the sea
He looks for absolution
Not accountability
How many destinations
Oh God hes seen them all
He collects his precious pittance
Never a port of call
Remittance man
Blacksheep of the family clan
Broke too many rules along the way
Remittance man
So far away from home
No theyll never understand
The remittance man
A man of empty pockets
From jingling his change
The idleness and grieving
For all that he retains
By the harbour lights of sydney
Or the bora bora moon
He recites his sad confession
To the seagulls and the loons
Remittance man
Blacksheep of the family clan
Broke too many rules along the way
Remittance man
So far away from home
No theyll never understand
The remittance man
Well you can claim that you were born a prince
But youre the only one you can convince
Survivor with no livelihood
That you could ever make it good
But still you dream of what you can pretend
An unexpected passenger
Boarded in marseilles
An angel full of tenderness
She gave her heart away
She was but a gypsy
He was just a stray
They almost made a miracle but it slowly slipped away
So he follows the equator
With a wish to run aground
Its a very vicious circle
Goin round and round and round
And he watches from the fantail
As the mainland disappears
Just like the flying dutchman
Hes a prisoner of his fears
Remittance man
Blacksheep of the family clan
Broke too many rules along the way
Remittance man
So far away from home
No theyll never understand
No theyll never understand
No theyll never understand
The remittance man

Rainy Day Women #12 35
Well, theyll stone ya when youre trying to be so good,
Theyll stone ya just a-like they said they would.
Theyll stone ya when youre tryin to go home.
Then theyll stone ya when youre there all alone.
But I would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.
Well, theyll stone ya when youre walkin long the street.
Theyll stone ya when youre tryin to keep your seat.
Theyll stone ya when youre walkin on the floor.
Theyll stone ya when youre walkin to the door.
But I would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.
Theyll stone ya when youre at the breakfast table.
Theyll stone ya when you are young and able.
Theyll stone ya when youre tryin to make a buck.
Theyll stone ya and then theyll say, good luck.
Tell ya what, I would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.
Well, theyll stone you and say that its the end.
Then theyll stone you and then theyll come back again.
Theyll stone you when youre riding in your car.
Theyll stone you when youre playing your guitar.
Yes, but I would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.
Well, theyll stone you when you walk all alone.
Theyll stone you when you are walking home.
Theyll stone you and then say you are brave.
Theyll stone you when you are set down in your grave.
But I would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.

just how right I am
I just can’t understand
how it is that
the world can’t understand
how right I am
and how wrong it is
OK, we’ll excuse the world, for the moment,
since it is far removed from my person
and my mind
so it can’t really be expected to understand my
unfailing rightness:
just how right I am and how just I am;
but the family, my family –
no, not the family of man
but the damned family of mine, my blood and bones and skin –
I can’t understand for the world of me
why my own family
that eats at the table with me
can’t understand
how right I am
and wrong they are…
just how right I am
and how just I am…
Look, I can understand about the world
but I just can’t understand
how the family….
I mean, this is where the family is important
for if the family can give me
just a little support –
just a teeny-weeny bit – I mean how much
does it take
for the family to see
how right I am
and how wrong the family is.
Is that really asking for too much?
You see, I’m sure you can see,
if only the family could agree
the world itself would see
how right I am…
But what is to be done?
prophets are never accepted
in their own home
and so in their own family too…
and so perhaps the truth lies in this cliché…
still, if one looks at it clearly,
I just can’t understand
how it is that
the world, which includes that silly family of mine,
can’t understand
how right I am
and how wrong it is

Love is barren with out memento
Many a script,
Many a gift,
Did I present to you.
You paid me nil.
Acceptance by you,
A forbidden soul,
Itself is the token
Of remittance.
However, I want
From you a memento
To show to others
Your love for me,
Without which
What is love worth?
Give me your fallen hair.
Give me your bitten nail.
Bharata was proud of
Rama’s love by his sandals.

Theyll Need A Crane
Love sees loves happiness
But happiness cant see that love is sad
That love is sad
Sadness is hanging there
To show love somewhere something needs a change
They need a change
Theyll need a crane, theyll need a crane
To take the house he built for her apart
To make it break its gonna take a metal ball hung from a chain
Theyll need a crane, theyll need a crane
To pick the broken ruins up again
To mend her heart, to help him start to see a world apart from pain
Lads gal is all he has
Gals gladness hangs upon the love of lad
The love of lad
Some things gal says to lad arent meant as bad
But cause a little pain
They cause him pain
Theyll need a crane, theyll need a crane
To take the house he built for her apart
To make it break its gonna take a metal ball hung from a chain
Theyll need a crane, theyll need a crane
To pick the broken ruins up again
To mend her heart, to help him start to see a world apart from pain
Dont call me at work again no no the boss still hates me
Im just tired and I dont love you anymore
And theres a restaurant we should check out where
The other nightmare people like to go
I mean nice people, baby wait,
I didnt mean to say nightmare
Lad looks at other gals
Gal thinks jim beam is handsomer than lad
He isnt bad
Call off the wedding band
Nobody wants to hear that one again
Play that again
Theyll need a crane, theyll need a crane
To take the house he built for her apart
To make it break its gonna take a metal ball hung from a chain
Theyll need a crane, theyll need a crane
To pick the broken ruins up again
To mend her heart, to help him start to see a world apart from pain
Theyll need a crane, theyll need a crane
Theyll need a crane, theyll need a crane
Theyll need a crane, theyll need a crane
Theyll need a crane, theyll need a crane
Theyll need a crane

The Mercenary View
I knew a poor remittance man,
A decent chap, but funny,
In days when my ideas began
To be controlled by money
He wore a swank, patrician air;
But, oh, his life was filled with care,
For he had seldom cash to spare;
His mien was far from sunny.
I fear I was a snobbish youth
Who led a prig's existence.
I snubbed the chap, to tell the truth,
And kept him at a distance.
His clothes, well cut, were often worn
Threadbare. Tho' he was gently born
His friendship I refused with scorn
Despite his soft insistence.
But now the whirligig of time
Sees fit to elevate him.
While, lo, the money that was mine
Is shrinking, seriatim;
And faced by serious mishap.
While he reclines in Fortune's lap.
I'd like to find the dear old chap
I'd want to cultivate him.

Theyll Never Know
I walk the lonely streets
I walk with my head held high
And no one will know
Inside , Im the boy who lost you
Ill never see those angel eyes
Youre just a devil in disguise
Ill hide it so ,oh
Theyll never know
Though people pass me by
They laugh as they walk on through
And no one will know , its you
Youre the girl who hurt me
Ill never see your lovely face
Its just a lonely , lonely place
Ill hide it so , oh
Theyll never know
And all the time , until I scream and run
While I go on dreaming about you
For all this love that Ive been giving
Must I go on living without you
I walk the lonely streets
I walk with my head held high
And no one will know
Inside , Im the boy who lost you
Ill never see those angel eyes
Youre just a devil in disguise
Ill hide it so , oh
Theyll never know
Oh, theyll never know
Oh, theyll never know
Oh, theyll never know
Oh, theyll never know
Oh, theyll never know

The Way
They made up their minds
And they started packing
They left before the sun came up that day
An exit to eternal summer slacking
But where were they going without ever knowing the way?
They drank up the wine
And they got to talking
They now had more important things to say
And when the car broke down they started walking
Where were they going without ever knowing the way?
Chorus:
Anyone could see the road that they walk on is paved in gold
And its always summer, theyll never get cold
Theyll never get hungry
Theyll never get old and gray
You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere
They wont make it home
But they really dont care
They wanted the highway
Theyre happy there today , today
The children woke up
And they couldnt find em
They left before the sun came up that day
They just drove off
And left it all behind em
But where were they going without ever knowing the way?
Anyone could see the road that they walk on is paved in gold
And its always summer, theyll never get cold
Theyll never get hungry
Theyll never get old and gray
You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere
They wont make it home
But they really dont care
They wanted the highway
Theyre happy there today , today (repeat)

Theyll Never Take Her Love From Me
If today the sun should set on all my hopes and cares
There is still one smiling face the gods would see
But shell walk along beside me up those golden stairs
Oh, theyll never, ever take her love from me
What a fool I was to go and break the trust she gave
And watch her love turn into sympathy
Its the one regret Ill carry with me to my grave
Oh theyll never, never take her love from me
Im so thankful for each golden hour of happiness
That we shared together in the use to be
Someone elses arms may hold her now in fond caress
But theyll never, never take her love from me
Well, I though Id make her happy if Id step aside
But I knew her love would never set me free
And even on the morning she became anothers bride
I said theyll never, never take her love from me
Ending:
No, theyll never, never take her love from me

Dont Even Think About Changing
(clarke / hicks / nash)
When people put you down
Its cause theyre jealous of you
They shouldnt make you frown
You know as well as I do
Its cause I love you
For the things you do for me
One day theyll realise
And wish that they were me
One thing I know for sure
We both get satisfaction
Thats why theyre mad at us
cos they aint got what we got
Its cos Im happy
For the things you do for me
One day theyll realise
And wish that they were me
Dont even think about changing
Youve got a life of your own
Break
Dont even think about changing
Youve got a life of your own
Why dont they understand
Our feelings are sincere
One day theyll be surprised
Because we are so near
To all the things they tried
To be when they were young
Thats why they dont agree
And take it out on us
Its cause Im happy
For the things you do for me
One day theyll realise
And wish that they were me
Its cause Im happy
For the things you do for me

Write by Return
Clerk, corresponding,
“Rooster and Comb”,
Here I sit idle
“Thinking of home”;
I must be grafting—
Living to earn,
More correspondence,
“Write by return.”
Clerk in employ of
“Shoddy and Woods”,
Thinks that we have not
Forwarded goods.
Parcel we sent them—
Missing, I learn,
Says in his postscript:
“Write by return.”
Here is another
Letter from Bland—
“Cheque he expected
Isn’t to hand.”
How we forgot it
Cannot discern,
“Forward remittance,
Write by return.”
Here is another—
O how they come?
Treats of a “Bender”
Planned by a chum.
See on the margin,
Big letters: “Burn
After perusal—
Write by return.”
Mail in from England,
Letters for me—
Dear little sweetheart
Over the sea.
“Quite broken-hearted,
O how I yearn
Only to see you. . . .
Write by return.”
One who will “never
Think that I’m bad”
Writes me a letter
Tearful and sad.
Thinks that I’m starving,
Filled with concern,
Sends me some money—
“Write by return.”
Letter from father,
Sent to his son,
“All is forgiven—
Fat calf for one.”
O that I ever
Thought he was stern—
Money for passage—
Write by return.

Inheritance
Testament, government
Bloody money when its lent
Scum reappear everywhere
They want money, ooooh
Heavenly would it be
Does the money belong to me?
I will pray, they will say:
Give your money ooooh
Obligator came and said to me:
Why dont you pay your debt? the debt that you owe me
Asking him for give up his demand
For I am without means despite inheritance
Remittance of the debt I cant accept
He told me and he kept quite tight on his demand
Imaginations came into my brain
cause situations came, that brings me in my grave
Testament, government
Bloody money when its lent
Scum reappear everywhere
They want money, ooooh

Cut You Down To Size
Dont you know theyre gonna cut you down to size
(they cut you down yeah theyll cut you down)
Youre gonna find out when you see it right in their eyes
(they cut you down yeah theyll cut you down)
How does it feel when you see through your disguise
(they cut you down yeah theyll cut you down)
And they cut you down, yeah they cut you down
They cut you down to size
How does it feel
Whatd you do with this fire inside
Where do you turn now that you realize
Where you go when you run out of alibis
Tell me
Dont you know theyre gonna cut you down to size
(they cut you down yeah theyll cut you down)
Youre gonna find out when you see it right in their eyes
(they cut you down yeah theyll cut you down)
How does it feel when you see through your disguise
(they cut you down yeah theyll cut you down)
And they cut you down to, they cut you down to
They cut you down to size
How does it feel
How does it feel
Youve been living with your own suspicion
Now youve got to believe
I know youve heard it said that only the strong survive
Dont you know theyre gonna cut you down to size
(they cut you down yeah theyll cut you down)
Youre gonna find out when you see it right in their eyes
(they cut you down yeah theyll cut you down)
How does it feel when you see through your disguise
(they cut you down yeah theyll cut you down)
And they cut you down to size
Dont you know theyre gonna
How does it feel when you see through your disguise
And they cut you down to, cut you down to
Cut you down to size
Get up stand up, come back for another round
And they cut you down to size
Cut you down to size

Scandal
Words and music by queen
Scandal - now youve left me all the worlds gonna know
Scandal - theyre gonna turn our lives into a freak show
Theyll see the heart ache, theyll see the love break
Theyll hear me pleading, well say for gods sake
Over and over and over again
Scandal - now youve left me theres no healing the wounds
Hey scandal - and all the world can make us out to be fools
Here come the bad news, open the flood gates
Theyll leave us bleeding, well say you cheapskates
Over and over and over again
So let them know when they start its just a private affair
Theyll have us hung in the air and tell me what do they care
Its only a life to be twisted and broken
Theyll see the heart ache, theyll see our love break - yeah
Theyll hear me pleading,Ill say for gods sake
Over and over and over and over again
Scandal scandal
Scandal
Scandal yes youre breaking my heart again
Scandal yes youre loving on out again
Today the headlines tomorrow hard times
And no-one ever really knows the truth from the lies
And in the end the story deeper must hide
Deeper and deeper and deeper inside
Scandal scandal
Scandal scandal

Its A Miracle
You wouldnt believe where Ive been,
The cities and towns I been in,
From boston to denver
And every town in between.
The people they all look the same,
Only the names have been changed.
But now that Im home again
Ill tell you what I believe:
Its a miracle
A true blue spectacle,a miracle come true.
Were together baby,
I was goin crazy till the miracle come through.
Now youre here and my arms
Are around you and baby
Theyll be dancin in the streets
For the miracle a true blue spectacle,
The miracle is you
I never knew you look so good.
Oh I never knew anyone could.
I must have been crazy
To every have gone away.
I almost forgot what its like,
Holdin you near me at night.
But now that Im home again
Youll know that Im home to stay,
Cause its a miracle a true blue spectacle,
A miracle come true.
Were together baby,
I was going crazy till the miracle come through.
Im feeling so good,
And baby theyll be dancing in the streets
For the miracle a true blue spectacle,
The miracle is you.

Way down here
Ou need a reason to move
Feel a fool
Running your stateside games
Lose your load
Leave your mind behind
Baby, james
Oooh, mexico
It sounds so simple
I just got to go
The suns so hot
I forgot to go home
I guess Ill have to go now
Americanos got the sleepy eyes
But his bodys still shakin like a live wire
Senorita with her eyes on fire
Dont you know
Oooh, mexico
It sounds so sweet
With the sun sinkin low
The moons so bright
Likes to light up the night
Make everything alright.
Babys hungry and the moneys all gone
The folks back home
Dont want to talk on the phone
She gets a long letter
And sends back a postcard
Times are hard.
Ooohh, down in mexico
Ive never really been
So I dont really know
Oooooh, mexico
I guess Ill have to go now.
Oooh, mexico
Ive never really been
But, Id sure like to go
Whoa, oooh mexico
I guess Ill have to go now.
Talkin bout mexico (mexico)
Little honkeytonk out in mexico (mexico)
South of margaritaville
Ive been told
Spoken:
(? )undele, undele, vaminos
Ahh, yeah, lets load this cast of characters
On that boat and head south
Ahh, yeah we got a wind at our back
Smooth sailin all the way
We got old nordstrom, hes our chef
Hes down in that galley cookin up a
Barometer soup for us
We gotta stop at our offshore bank of bad habits
And make a deposit or a withdrawl
I dont know which one, yknow
Were goin down to the land of the mayans
Eah, they were here long before the cavemen were
Cavemen in blue jeans
Uhh, excuse me, thats not politically correct
Thats cavepersons in blue jeans
Skip wiley and skink, we may run into them
Up to no good down there
Watch out for those barefoot children
Stompin around in those puddles
Ahh, yeah, and that remittance man
Hes just goin round and round
He may run into ol frank bama
Cruisin around in the hemisphere dancer
I dont know, I might have my long board down there...

Goin Home
Midnight on a southern highway
Dont know if Im going the right way
I havent seen a single sign for miles
All this stormy weather
Keeping us from being together
How long has it been since Ive seen your smile
In this tunnel called the night
I can finally see a light
Ive got a burning deep inside
I thought you might understand
Im drivin as fast as I can
And you said youd wait for me
Chorus
Goin home
Cause Ive been away much too long
Goin home
Going back to the place where my heart belongs
Goin home
Going back where I left my family
Goin home
And I hope that theyre still waitin there for me
In the eyes of the legal tender
Youre the one who must surrender
I think they call it responsibility
Im a man in emotion
With only one compulsion
Ive got to follow these dreams inside my heart
Im not looking for a fight
No ones wrong and no ones right
Maybe we all need time apart
So please understand
Im doin the best that I can
And you said youd wait for me
Chorus
Goin home
Cause Ive been away much too long
Goin home
Going back to the place where my heart belongs
Goin home
Going back where I left my sanity
Goin home
And I hope that its still waitin there for me
Solo
I thought youd might understand
Im drivinas fast as I can
And you said youd wait for me
Chorus
Goin home
Cause Ive been away much too long
Goin home
Going back to the place where my heart belongs
Goin home
Going back where I left my family
Goin home
And I hope that theyre still waiting there for me
Going home
Going home
Yeah, baby

The Harder They Come
Well they tell me of a pie up in the sky
Waiting for me when I die
But between the day youre born and when you die
They never seem to hear even your cry
So as sure as the sun will shine
Im gonna get my share now of whats mine
And then the harder they come the harder theyll fall,
One and all
Ooh the harder they come the harder theyll fall,
One and all
Well the oppressors are trying to keep me down
Trying to drive me underground
And they think that they have got the battle won
I say forgive them lord, they know not what theyve done
cause as sure as the sun will shine
Im gonna get my share now of whats mine
And then the harder they come the harder theyll fall,
One and all
Ooh the harder they come the harder theyll fall,
One and all
And I keep on fighting for the things I want
Though I know that when youre dead you cant
But Id rather be a free man in my grave
Than living as a puppet or a slave
So as sure as the sun will shine
Im gonna get my share now of whats mine
And then the harder they come the harder theyll fall,
One and all
Ooh the harder they come the harder theyll fall,
One and all

Hands In Your Pocket
Were all victims of the system, still we love to place the blame,
Were running out of choices and theres no rules to the game.
Im getting tired of feeling this way,
What can a single man do? what can he say?
Every day you walk the edge of a knife,
Youre left with nothing at the end of your life.
Theyve got their hands in your pocket,
Theyll take the clothes off your back...
...theyll stop you like a heart attack.
We put people into power but we fight our wars alone,
They take such good care of the rest of the world,
But, what about the folks?
At home, oh yeah! point the finger at the man you chose,
Hell say hes sorry, but its just the way it goes.
He sits in judgement like a king on a throne,
till that november when hell beg for a bone...
...brother, dont ignore the facts...!

Mine For Me
(paul mccartney)
In a couple of hours Ill be drivin home to the one I love
So save your breath sweet painted lady it wont be me
Over the mountain and under the sea
Theyll never be another one like mine for me
It was only an hour or so ago that I sang my song
Persuaded painted ladies that I could say Id been free
Over the mountain and under the sea
Theyll never be another one like mine for me
Mine is always, mine is grand
Dont you know that the woman that love me she understands
And cant you see that its mine for me
And in a couple of hours Ill be driving home to the one I love
So save your breath sweet painted lady it wont be me
Over the mountain and under the sea
Theyll never be another one like mine for me
Youre for me
Mine is always, mine is grand
Dont you know that the woman that love me she understands
And cant you see that its mine for me
Theyll never be another one like mine for me
Theyll never be another one like mine for me
Theyll never be another one like you for me
