I Thought I Was A Child
Its such a clever innocence with which you do your sorcery
As if somehow the years just bow and let that young girl go free
I thought I was a child until you turned and smiled
I thought I knew where I was going until I heard your laughter flowing
And came upon the wisdom in your eyes
Surprise--
Ive spent my whole life running round
Chasing songs from town to town
Thinking Id be free so long as I never let love slow me down
So lonely and so wild until you turned and smiled
By now I should have long been gone
But here I am still looking on
As if I didnt know which way to run
Its such a clever innocence with which you show myself to me
As if you know how it feels to never be who you wanted to be
I thought I was a child until you turned and smiled
I thought that I was free but Im just one more prisoner of time
Alone within the boundaries of my mind
I thought I was a child

Innocence Taken
Innocence taken
by those who thought
that it was ok to lie
by those who thought
nothing matters
Innocence taken
no longer available
Innocence unable
to ever speak again
Innocence silenced
to soon
Innocence taken
there's no truth over the lie
Innocence taken
by those who thought
I'll be the same again
by those who thought
its ok to kill
by those who thought
it's ok to take
Innocence replaced

Innocence disappeared
before it came
Innocence taken

laughed at every cry

Ain't No Nice Guy
When I was young I was the nicest guy I knew
I thought I was the chosen one
But time went by and I found out a thing or two
My shine wore off as time wore on
I thought that I was living out the perfect life
But in the lonely hours when the truth begins to bite
I though about the times when I turned my back and stalled
I ain't no nice guy after all
When I was young I was the only game in town
I thought I had it down for sure
But time went by and I was lost in what I'd found
The reasons blurred the way unsure
I thought that I was living life the only way
But as I saw that life was more than day to day
I turned around, I read the writing on the wall
I ain't no nice guy after all,
I ain't no nice guy after all
In all the years you spent between your birth and death
You know there's lots of times when you should have saved your breath
It comes as quite a shock when your trip leads to a wall
I ain't no nice guy after all,
I ain't no nice guy after all
Hey Slasher?
When I was young I was the nicest guy I knew
I thought I was the chosen one
But time went by and I found out a thing or two
My shine wore off as time wore on
I thought that I was living out the perfect life
But in the lonely hours when the moons the only light
I thought about the times when I turned my back and
stalled
I ain't no nice guy after all,
I ain't no nice guy after all

Back From A Two-years' Sentence
Back from a two-years' sentence!
And though it had been ten,
You think, I were scarred no deeper
In the eyes of my fellow-men.
'My fellow-men--?' Sounds like a satire,
You think-- and I so allow,
Here in my home since childhood,
Yet more than a stranger now!
Pardon--! Not wholly a stranger--,
For I have a wife and child:
That woman has wept for two long years,
And yet last night she smiled--!
Smiled, as I leapt from the platform
Of the midnight train, and then--
All that I knew was that smile of hers,
And our babe in my arms again!
Back from a two-years' sentence--
But I've thought the whole thing through--,
A hint of it came when the bars swung back
And I looked straight up in the blue
Of the blessed skies with my hat off!
O-ho! I've a wife and child:
That woman has wept for two long years,
And yet last night she smiled!

I Met A Girl (Novelinee)
I met a girl called her at times a child
in her forties, she was really mature,
her glances did draw me, drove my heart wild
to love her every glance did me allure,
suddenly my feelings for her was strong
as if something sweet could happen with us,
I thought that I might have it somewhat wrong
that forgetting of her I really must
she smiled, turned all my fears to dust.

Jesus to a child
Kindness in your eyes
I guess you heard me cry
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child
I'm blessed I know
Heaven sent and heaven stole
You smiled at me like
Jesus to a child
And what have I learned
From all this pain
I thought I'd never feel the same
About anyone or anything again
But now I know
chorus :
When you find a love
When you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss
Will come to you on those cold

God Has Smiled On Me
This morning I picked up a paper
I read about tragedy I stopped and
I realized that it could've been me oh oh
That could've been my mother
Or maybe even my big brother
But you kept them just like you kept me
I want to tell you that
[Chorus:]
God has smiled on me
He has set me free
God has smiled on
He has been good to me
Now I've been through some things that
I thought were unnecessarily
Were way too much to carry
All by myself
Yeah! But you gave me strength to
Make it through
I thought I couldn't take it
Feels so good to know that you care
Yeah

I Thought Id Seen Everything
(r.j. mutt lange/huey lewis)
(track 7 - time 3:58)
Here I am a single guy
Ive seen a lot in this crazy life
There you are, what can I say
I guess you took my breath away
Something in your eyes took me by surprise
cause when I looked at you something you do
Is telling me more than I ever knew, oh baby
I thought Id seen everything, til I saw you
I thought Id seen everything baby I thought I knew
Now here I am alone with you
What am I supposed to do
Should I stay or should I go
Something tells me I should know
Its something in your touch that makes me feel so much
You took me by surprise I realize
And now I cant believe my eyes, oh baby
I thought Id seen everything, til I saw you
I thought Id seen everything, baby I thought I knew
Ive been around the world, seen a lot of girls
In and out of love til I had enough
I thought I had everything, til I had you, oh baby
Baby let your lovin take me all the way
I thought Id seen everything, til I saw you
I thought Id seen everything, baby I thought I knew
I thought Id seen everything, oh baby

The reappeard act
The reappeared act
The day you left me allowed me to feel so much joy on thee inside that being free never felt so good! ! I thought I'll have a break down! because of your ability to show up and show out and hit me time and time again in the heart with a surprise that I thought I'll die. I became a custom to your baggage of tricks and disappearing, reappearing acts like Im some **** walking in and out of my life like you became the leap year or Robin Hood because you took. But I thank YoU! ! ! ! Because I needed to take the time for me to rethink that I deserved better then this! ! ! ! !
I came to the place to find me in the mist of what I allow to happen, to happen! ! ! go on far to long. That when I reposition my thinking I found my worth! and I for gave me. Then what I thought was going to be the hard part became so easy I turned around and for gave YOU! The reappearing act! ! ! ! ! ! !

Turned The Corner
I turned a corner,
It didnt seem that was wrong,
I was just having a laugh.
But suddenly my friends are gone
And I didnt know that life would be so long.
I turned the clock
And went around the block,
Thought I was just having a laugh.
But suddenly my world was gone
And I found myself standing alone.
I thought I was fighting the ebb of life,
I thought I was cutting the web and the strife.
But I look at the mirror where there used to be a smile,
Now I see a stranger.
Ad lib.

Eyes of a child
Eyes of a child
Such gems in stones
Staring you close
Still as blue sky
They don't lie
Their sun is shining
While you are crying
Eyes of a child
Day or night
I got no light
Free as a child
I can be wild
Eyes of a child
Let them go, into the snow
Without your grace
There's a lot more to know
Just glance over their face
It's the eye of a child
Free and wild
Child don't think too much
Ain't no worry as such
Joy driven life they live
Half-a-soul they give
It's the eyes of a child
Free and wild
Save me child
Save me child
Set me free and wild
Eyes of my child

Thank You
I was young (bop)
And didnt have no where to run
I needed to (wake up) and see (and see)
Whats in front of me (na-na-op)
There had to be, a better way
To show Im grateful (hum)
So I thought up this song
To show my appreciation for lovin me so long
You dont know how much you mean to me
Chorus:
Cause even though when times got rough
You never turned away
You were right there
And I thank you (thank you)
When I felt I had enough
You never turned away
You were right there
And I thank you (thank you)
All through my life
I knew that youd be my world
Knowing every where I go
Things you taught me they would show
So many times and changes
Youve seen me through
I sure enough couldnt have survived without you
And so I thought up this song
To show my appreciation for lovin me so long
You dont know how much you mean to me
Chorus

What A Heartache
I thought I saw the promise of forever in your eyes
I thought that I was sure of what I saw
You led me to believe that I was special in your life
So I left my heart wide open for the fall
What a heartache you turned out to be
Chorus:
What a heartache, what a heartache
Love aint always what it appears to be
What a heartache you turned out to be
I thought Id found a safe and lovin place inside your heart
And I was warm and willing anytime
The same soft lips that kissed me sweet
Were lyin from the start
But I swear I thought your love was genuine
What a heartache you turned out to be
Chorus:
What a heartache, what a heartache
Like a switchblade that cuts quick and deep
Ooo, what a heartache you turned out to be
Bridge:
It just goes to show that you never can tell
I really thought that I knew you well
I still cant believe I could be deceived so easily
Are all these wishes Im wishin to myself
Like rusty coins in a wishin well
Wishes come true, they come false as well
Its too late for you and me
Oh, what a heartache, ooo, what a heart break
Love is two-faced and easy to believe
Chorus:
What a heartache, ooo, what a heartache
What a mistake to think I could believe
Ooo, what a heartache you turned out to be
Oh, what a heartache you turned out to be

You Won
There was a world outside my door
I wasnt in touch with anymore
There was a way I used to feel
I knew what was and wasnt real
You built a bridge, I tore it down
I felt safe on shaky ground
And I was a master of despair
Making believe I didnt care
I shouldnt be standing here today
After all the crazy things Ive done
Im ready to fall and thats ok
I ran as far as I could run
You won
Out of a world turned upside down
It took some time to come around
Out of a dream you made me whole
Yes you did
You lit a fire down in my soul
I shouldnt be standing here today
After all the crazy things Ive done
Im ready to fall and thats ok
I ran as far as I could run
You won
I shouldnt be standing here today
After all the crazy things Ive done
Im ready to fall and thats ok
I ran as far as I could run
You won
And you won
Im ready to fall
I thought I knew what I was doing
I thought I was in control
I thought nobody could slow me down
But what did I know
I was just a kid, a motherless child
No one to watch over me I was runnin wild
Free of all responsibility til my life
And my love for myself caught up with me
Yeah, it caught up with me
And now Im (ready to fall), yes I am
So ready

Strangers Eyes
All alone, a rainy night
No one around but I fell someone watching me
I look around, the street is bare nobody there
I wonder what it could be
As I turned to walk away
Suddenly I saw his face
Never minding that we were alone
Didnt care about the time, at the moment I was felling fine
I was looking into strangers eyes
(he caught me by surprise)
They looked right through me
(he looking into my eyes)
Never knew
Never, ever thought that love could be
(thats when he came)
He came and captured me
Like a scene out of a dream, I cant believe it
Kind of strange and familiar
But in his eyes I get a sign, I get a feeling
I get the feeling he knows me
Maybe I could stay a while, maybe I could make you smile
I dont have much to do
Maybe we could walk awhile
Maybe, maybe we could talk awhile
Cant help looking into strangers eyes
I was looking into strangers eyes
(he caught me by surprise)
They looked right through me
(he looked into my eyes)
Never knew
Never, ever thought that love could be
(thats when he came)
He came and captured me
How was I to know this would happen
Thought I didnt know I would meet this stranger
Its the kind of thing that dreams are made of
And I keep thinking about strangers eyes
I was looking into strangers eyes
(he caught me by surprise)
They looked right through me
(he looked into my eyes)
Never knew
Never, ever thought that love could be
(thats when he came to me)
He came and captured me

The Best Smile
It was a portrait
Of six feet height
Full size Lady Grace,
Minus lips on her face.
With all his skill
The artist failed still,
To give her a smile,
Free from any style.
He scanned every mile,
For that unseen smile,
One lovely to admire,
Forever, the world over.
Smiles, smiles every where,
But not a smile there,
New, true and plain,
His lady should own.
His wife smiled.
His girl smiled.
His servant smiled.
His boss smiled.
The milkmaid smiled.
The cartman smiled.
The beggar smiled.
The neighbour smiled.
The dandy smiled.
The waiter smiled.
The grocer smiled.
The councilor smiled.
He saw an ambitious smile,
Not an aesthetic smile,
And a cunning smile,
Not a winning smile.
He saw a dubious smile,
Not a divine smile,
And a greedy smile,
Not a graceful smile.
He saw a mischievous smile,
Not a magnanimous smile,
And a voluptuous smile,
Not a virtuous smile.
Smiles, with strings, he found,
Wherever he went round,
But not the best one,
The Lady Grace won.
The smile, the best,
He found at last,
From his own child,
Rocking in the cradle.
Now the Lady Grace smiled.
Thanks to the child.
The portrait was acclaimed,
The best of its kind.

Because there is a mile between 'S' and 'S')

A Child in the Garden
When to the garden of untroubled thought
I came of late, and saw the open door,
And wished again to enter, and explore
The sweet, wild ways with stainless bloom inwrought,
And bowers of innocence with beauty fraught,
It seemed some purer voice must speak before
I dared to tread that garden loved of yore,
That Eden lost unknown and found unsought.
Then just within the gate I saw a child, --
A stranger-child, yet to my heart most dear;
He held his hands to me, and softly smiled
With eyes that knew no shade of sin or fear:
"Come in," he said, "and play awhile with me;"
"I am the little child you used to be."

Witch Child
This is a story of anger and pain;
Of inner storms with tears like rain;
Of hunger for love, and thirst for revenge;
Of lost hope, and a life of constant change.
There once was a child who had a great life,
Never knew sadness and never knew strife.
Until one day an old witch came a'knocking,
With dark eyes full of hatred and mocking,
And a mind with the cruellest intentions.
She ruined the child without hesitation:
She took away what the child loved the most.
All that the child had left was a ghost -
A ghost of an old faded memory,
And a heart full of pain and misery.
Innocence turned into monstrosity,
The child's pain turned into atrocity.
Soon the child was no longer a child,
But a vile creature, angry and riled.

Jesus To Child
Kindness in your eyes
I guess you heard me cry
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child
I'm blessed, I know
Heaven sent and heaven stole
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child
And what have I learned
>From all this pain?
I thought I'd never feel the same
About anyone
Or anything again
But now I know
When you find love
When you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss
Will come to you
On those cold, cold nights
When you've been loved
When you know it holds such bliss
Then the lover that you kissed
Will comfort you
When there's no hope in sight
Sadness in your eyes
No one guessed, or no one tried
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child
Loveless and cold
With your last breath you saved my soul
You smiled at me
Like Jesus to a child
And what have I learned
>From all these
I've waited for you all those years
And just when it began
He took your love away
But I still say
When you find love
When you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss
Will come to you
On those cold, cold nights
When you've been loved
When you know it holds such bliss
Then the lover that you kissed
Will comfort you
When there's no hope in sight
So the words you could not say
I'll sing them for you
And the love we would have made
I'll make it for two
For every single memory
Has become a part of me
You will always be
My love
Well, I've been loved
So I know just what love is
And the lover that I kissed
Is always by my side
Oh the lover I still miss
Was Jesus to a child

Mistrust
I thought I could trust you
But it turned out that I can’t.
I told you all of my secrets
Because I thought you would not tell anyone
But you betrayed me.
I thought I could trust you
But it turned out that I can’t.
I thought that you were different than all the others
But you weren’t.
I thought I could trust you
But it turned out that I can’t
Now I know that you can not be trusted with
Any kind of secret, now all I know is that I just mistrusted you

Here I Am Again
When I turned away,
I...
Never thought I'd be back.
Or wished I had not left,
But...
When I turned away,
I...
Had excuses to be made.
Thinking away I would stay.
And yet,
Here I am again.
For reasons not lamented.
Here I am again.
With opened eyes.
And,
Here I am again...
Seeing,
For the first time...
With a change of mind.
Patience taught me how to find.
When I turned away,
I...
Never thought I'd be back.
Or wished I had not left,
But...
When I turned away,
I...
Had excuses to be made.
Thinking away I would stay.
Forever!
But,
Here I am again.
For reasons not lamented.
Here I am again.
With opened eyes.
And,
Here I am again...
Seeing,
For the first time...
With a change of mind.
And...
Hoping I will find you,
Forgiving.
And willing,
To free me...
Of your doubts!
