Bluebird Wine

(rodney crowell)
Baby brought me in out off the highway
Made me put my money in the bank, bank
Straightened out my crooked way of thinking
Made it purely pleasure when I drank
And its all right
Ive just hit my stride
Right off the bat
Lord, Im drunk on bluebird wine
Baby taught me a diffrent way of thinkin
Like how to spend my evenings here at home
Listning to the music on the radio
Drinking all the bluebird we can hold
And its all right
Ive just hit my stride
Right off the bat
Lord, Im drunk on bluebird wine
Baby says hed really love a party
Well get some friends together feelin fine
Any friend of mine is worth his habit
A belly full of babys bluebird wine
And its all right
Ive just hit my stride
Right off the bat
Lord, Im drunk on bluebird wine

When you came I flipped my lid
I never thought Id lose you kid

Though we were a perfect pair
It was a flight-by-night affair

Bluebird

Late at night when the wind is still
Ill come flying through your door,
And youll know what love is for.
Lm a bluebird, Im a bluebird
Im a bluebird, lm a bluebird
Yeah ,yeah ,yeah.
Im a bluebird, Im a bluebird,
Im a bluebird
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Touch your lips with a magic kiss
And youll be a bluebird too,
And youll know what love can do.
Lm a bluebird, Im a bluebird
Lm a bluebird, lm a bluebird
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Lm a bluebird, Im a bluebird,
Lm a bluebird,
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Bluebird
Ah ha,
Bluebird
Ah ha,
Bluebird.
Fly away through the midnight air
As we head across the sea,
And at last we will be free.
Youre a bluebird, youre a bluebird,
Youre a bluebird, youre a bluebird
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Youre a bluebird, youre a bluebird
Youre a bluebird
Yeah, yeah ,yeah.
Bluebird
Ah ha,
Bluebird
Ah ha,
Bluebird.
All alone on a desert island
Were living in the trees,
And were flying in the breeze.
Were the bluebirds, were the bluebirds
Were the bluebirds, were the bluebirds
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Were the bluebirds, were the bluebirds
Were the bluebirds
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Bluebird
Ah ha,
Bluebird
Ah ha,
Bluebird.

Bluebird

Bluebird take me on your wing
Teach me how to fly
Teach me how to sing
Bluebird, guardian of my soul
Inside everybody
Is a story to be told
I came in from the cold
When I found someone
Strong enough to bear
The strain of our existence
And troubles everywhere
But time heals
And I know youll be there... ooh
Bluebird a symphony in flight
Symbol of the dawn
Symbol of the night
Ill try with all my might to be your brother
Always there for you
Mother (mother, mother) knowing what to do
And farther than anyone has flown
Courage to spread your wings alone
And who will help me?
Bluebird
Bluebird stranger to these shores
I look into your eyes
Have you been here before
Take me through the door to heaven
And show me
The treasures that you keep
The magic of the sky
And the beauty of the deep
And Ill do what I have to do
To be one of the chosen few
Fly anywhere with...
You, bluebird
Bluebird, bluebird (yeh)

Bluebird Is Dead

Little darlin of my life
You keep movin cross my mind
You gave me a sunny day
Now it looks as if Ill pay
Why do they say -- bluebird is dead?
I can still see her, touch her, my bluebird
The love that she gave, I dont believe, no, no, I dont believe
Bluebird came to me tonight
Waiting patiently for light
She said I know that you will grieve
But my darlin I must leave
Why do they say -- bluebird is dead?
I can still see her, touch her, my bluebird
The love that she gave, I dont believe, no, no, I dont believe
Bluebird say it is not so
Please I cannot hear you speak
It must be that youre so tired
In the darkness of the night
Why do they say -- bluebird is dead?
I can still see her, touch her, my bluebird
The love that she gave, I dont believe, no, no, I dont believe

Beautiful Bluebird

One mornin when I was ridin
In my old pickup truck
A beautiful bluebird came flyin down
My eyes caught the color
As it lead me down the road
Dippin and bobbin in the sun
Ive never seen that blue before
cept in one place
And shes not here with me right now
So I followed all the way
To the top of the hill
Thats where she kept on climbin lord
Someday I will
Beautiful bluebird
See how she flies
Looks like shes always goin home
If heaven had a window
Where the sun came shinin through
Like a beautiful bluebird
Id come flyin back to you
Well it kind of struck me funny
Sort of made me smile
After all these years on this old road
How God could show me somethin
Never say a word
Theres so much that I dont know
Ive never seen that blue before
Except in one place
And shes not here with me right now
I followed all the way to the top of the hill
Thats where she kept on climbin lord
And someday I will
Beautiful bluebird
See how she flies
Looks like shes always goin home
If heaven had a window
Where the sun came shinin through
Like a beautiful bluebird
Id come flyin back to you
Beautiful bluebird
See how she flies
Looks like shes always goin home
If heaven had a window
Where the sun came shinin through
Like a beautiful bluebird
Id come flyin back to you

Bluebird

there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too tough for him,
I say, stay in there, I'm not going
to let anybody see
you.
there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I pour whiskey on him and inhale
cigarette smoke
and the whores and the bartenders
and the grocery clerks
never know that
he's
in there.

there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too tough for him,
I say,
stay down, do you want to mess
me up?
you want to screw up the
works?
you want to blow my book sales in
Europe?
there's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too clever, I only let him out
at night sometimes
when everybody's asleep.
I say, I know that you're there,
so don't be
sad.
then I put him back,
but he's singing a little
in there, I haven't quite let him
die
and we sleep together like
that
with our
secret pact
and it's nice enough to
make a man
weep, but I don't
weep, do
you?

Kentucky Bluebird

(don cook/wally wilson)
Blown down the highway
By two different winds
Lord only knows
When Ill see you again
Youre bout as close
As the moon up above
Youre my long distance love
Kentucky bluebird
I heard your song today
But when I try to touch you
You fly away
Blue is a feeling Im learning so well
Turn on the tv
In another hotel
Turn down the volume
And stare at the wall
God I wish you would call
Kentucky bluebird
I heard your song today
But when I try to touch you
You fly away
How I hate the miles between us
They get longer each day
I had this dream
And you should have seen us
Holding each other
And drifting away
Kentucky bluebird
I heard your song today
But when I try to touch you
You fly away

Lady With A Bluebird

Written by dewey bunnell, bill mumy, and robert haimer, 1984
Found on perspective, premium gold collection, and centenary collection.
She came out of the blue and into my world
She came out of the blue and into my world
I went out of my head over you
She was a lady with a bluebird sleepin in her chair
She was dreamin bout a girlfriend and wishing she was there
She was a lady with a bluebird
Under the bridge I saw mercury flow
Between me and you and a fine tooth comb
She came out of the blue and into my world
She was a lady with a bluebird sleepin in her chair
She was dreamin bout a girlfriend and wishing she was there
She was a lady with a bluebird
I close my eyes, I still see blue
I hear her voice, Ill wait for you
I still see blue
She came out of the blue and into my world
Oh, she came out of the blue and into my world
She was a lady with a bluebird sleepin in her chair
She was dreamin bout a girlfriend and wishing she was there

As Fine As Wine

hello baby, look at me
as fine as silk
do i look weak?

no baby, i am fine as wine
ah, there is something in my life
that is new
yet i shall not tell you

hello baby, life is fine as smooth as wine
in my throat flowing
hard and strong and foamy
sparkling
and gleaming

yes, baby, i am drunk
life is fine like your wine.

A Desparate Song

Mockingbirds are the only
birds to sing all the colors.
The most beautiful of them all
is the saddest, and she sings
her lonely song to him,
but he does not notice.
He does not realize that
they are the same.
He only has eyes
for the bluebird.
The very same bluebird
that has tortured the mockingbird
with her songs many times,
claiming to be his only love.
As the mockingbird sings
her sad songs, she is careful
not to sound like the bluebird.
She sings only to him,
only for him,
but he is the only one
that doesn't listen.
Everyone sees her beauty,
except for him.
They see her as a broken heart,
but he doesn't see her.
He doesn't notice whether
she's there or not.
He doesn't notice
the love in her eyes,
or the pain in her voice.
He only knows the bluebird,
and sees her alone
as the beauty of Life,
although he will never
know true beauty:
the beaury of the mockingbird,
or the love that she
would give to him.

Blue Bird On The Window Sill

come to me bluebird
let me dye your feathers
to white if you want to be pure
to red if you want to have more
excitements
come to me bluebird
let me handle your problem
about their judgment against
you
you are not blue because of
your feathers
i will dye it for you
do you want pink for
a wise panther?
i can do it for you
trust me
you are not blue because
nature made you
you are blue because you
allow it to be so.

The Beautiful Lie

(David McDade)
Everytime the bluebird sings
My heart takes wings to the sky
The bluebird greyside fly
To my place in your eyes
Cause after all, I did all I could
And you did your best, just the same
Nobody won, we both lost, no one's to blame
But I'll fly away to you, if only pretending
We'll be like bluebird do, the beautiful lie
The beautiful lie, the beautiful lie
Everytime the bluebird sings
My heart takes wings to the sky
The bluebird greyside fly
To my place in your eyes
Cause after all, I did all I could
And you did your best, just the same
Nobody won, we both lost, no one's to blame
But I'll find my way to you, if I'm only pretending
And we'll be like bluebirds, live the beautiful lie
We'll be like bluebirds, live the beautiful lie

Bluebird

There is a bluebird sitting in my yard
Singing so gracefully, gives a bright start
Your fine prsesnce in summers and spring
Comely blue plumage, on a branch u cling

Its said u carry sky on back
How a tiny nester can so much take
Its human boastings, I ve always found
playing Ace, or fake braggings around
But dear bluebird, you so humble
Carrying sky, yet never mumble

Sung equal for king and ordinary
Open Sky, alike and same for evrybody
Why can't we find such beautiful beings
Status and ranks these mortals seeing

So dear bluebird! hurry back after winter
Hope it proves to be a sprinter
My query would be the secret for humility
coz Vanity and Pride is a virtue in Nobility.

If You Were A Bluebird

(butch hancock)
If you were a bluebird youd be a sad one
Id give you a true word
But youve already had one
If you were a bluebird,
Youd be crying
Youd be flying home
If you were a raindrop,
Youd shine like a rainbow
And if you were a train stop,
The conductor would sing low
If you were a raindrop,
Youd be falling
Youd be calling home
If you were a hotel
Honey, youd be a grand one
But, if you hit a slow spell,
Do you think you could stand one
If you were a hotel,
Well Id lean on your doorbell
Id call you my home
If I was a highway,
Id stretch alongside you
Id help you pass by ways
That had dissatisfied you
If I was a highway,
Well Id be stretchin
Id be fetchin you home

Drinking Alone in the Moonlight

Amongst the flowers I
am alone with my pot of wine
drinking by myself; then lifting
my cup I asked the moon
to drink with me, its reflection
and mine in the wine cup, just
the three of us; then I sigh
for the moon cannot drink,
and my shadow goes emptily along
with me never saying a word;
with no other friends here, I can
but use these two for company;

in the time of happiness, I
too must be happy with all
around me; I sit and sing
and it is as if the moon
accompanies me; then if I
dance, it is my shadow that
dances along with me; while
still not drunk, I am glad
to make the moon and my shadow
into friends, but then when
I have drunk too much, we
all part; yet these are
friends I can always count on
these who have no emotion
whatsoever; I hope that one day
we three will meet again,
deep in the Milky Way.

Version 2
Beneath the blossoms with a pot of wine,
No friends at hand, so I poured alone;
I raised my cup to invite the moon,
Turned to my shadow, and we became three.
Now the moon had never learned about drinking,
And my shadow had merely followed my form,
But I quickly made friends with the moon and my shadow;
To find pleasure in life, make the most of the spring.

Whenever I sang, the moon swayed with me;
Whenever I danced, my shadow went wild.
Drinking, we shared our enjoyment together;
Drunk, then each went off on his own.
But forever agreed on dispassionate revels,
We promised to meet in the far Milky Way.

Fragments - Lines 0467 - 0496

Of those now here with us, do not detain anyone who is unwilling to remain,
Nor show the door to anyone who does not wish to go,
Nor wake anyone who is sleeping, Simonides, should one of us,
Well fortified by wine, be gripped by gentle slumber;
Nor bid the wakeful man to sleep against his will;
For everything that is forced is by nature painful.
For the one who wants to drink, let the boy stand close and pour;
Not on all nights is it possible to enjoy delights like these.
But as for me, since I have reached my limit of honey-sweet wine,
I shall think of sleep that loosens cares, going home.
I have reached the point when a man feels most pleasure in drinking wine,
Being neither sober at all nor yet excessively drunk.
Whoever goes beyond the limit of drinking, that man no longer
Is master of his own tongue or of his mind;
He talks recklessly, saying things which the sober find disgraceful,
And feels no shame in any action when he is drunk,
A man of sound sense before, and now a fool. But you,
Understanding these things, should not drink to excess,
But either stand up and leave before you get drunk -- don't let your belly
Overpower you as if you were a base laborer hired by the day --
Or else stay put and refrain from drinking. But no, 'Pour me another'
Is what you keep idly chattering, and that's why you get drunk.
For one cup comes around in the name of friendship, another on a bet;
Another you pour out as a libation for the gods, another you keep on hand,
And you do not know how to refuse. That man is truly invincible,
Who though he has drunk many cups says nothing foolish.
As for the rest of you, take care in what you say as you linger around the wine bowl,
Steering well clear of quarrels with one another,
Speaking in a way that any may hear, whether you address one or all together.
Conducted in this way, a drinking-party proves far from unpleasant.

Make You Mine

Youre the one I think about time after time
Youre the one that comes to me, visions in the night
I want to complicate your feelings
I want to heat you up inside
Yeah yeah yeah, I wanna make you mine
Ill be your sun coming up
Ill be your dog days
Ill be your new morning
Kiss you baby
Ill be the bluebird singing
Ill keep you warm
Ill take you deep in
Take you deep in
Gonna make my bed beside you
In the bluebells of your soul
Gonna slip into your river, babe
Linger in your shoals
And when the stars are bright like fireflies
And the night is black as coal
Yeah yeah yeah, Im gonna make you mine
Ill be your sun coming up
Ill be your dog days
Ill be your sweet honey
I kiss you baby
Ill be the bluebird singing
Ill keep you warm
Ill take you deep in
Take you deep in
On another side of time
Before the sea runs dry
Yeah yeah yeah
On another side of time
Where the love runs high
Im gonna make you mine
Gonna make you mine x4
Gonna make you mine, yeah
Ill be your sun coming up
Ill be your dog days
Ill be your new morning
Kiss you baby
Ill be the bluebird singing
Ill keep you warm
Ill take you deep in
Take you deep in
Yeah, yeah, yeah
On another side of time
Before the sea runs dry
Yeah yeah yeah
On another side of time
Where the love runs high
Im gonna make you mine
Gonna make you mine
Gonna make you mine
Im gonna make you mine

On another side of time
