Strike Up The Band

Let the drums roll out
Let the trumpet call
While the people shout
Strike up the band
Hear the cymbals ring
Callin one and all
To the martial swing,
Strike up the band
There is work to be done, to be done
Theres a war to be won, to be won
Come, you son of a son of a gun,
Take your stand
Fall in line, yea a bow
Come along, lets go
Hey, leader, strike up the band!

There is work to be done, to be done
Theres a war to be won, to be won
Come, you son of a son of a gun,
Take your stand
Fall in line, yea a bow
Come on, lets go
Hey, leader, strike up
Hey, leader, strike up
Hey, leader, strike up the band

Strike Up The Band

Strike up the band.
Do not permit us for another moment to sit.
You have already persisted...
You are the maestro of your gifts!
So strike up that band.

Come forward and produce your talents.
We insist.
At least reveal the evidence,
You have 'it' and they exist.

Too many have serviced us with lip.
And you have staged an entrance,
With...
Wishes from us to see you exit through it.

Take the baton in your hand.
And lead us through...
How your hard work and sacrifice,
With a mix of sweat and paid dues...
Has developed with an appetite,
That will inspire and delight too!

And prove you are worthy,
To command with deed.
Or leave the spotlight...
That feeds more of your ego,
Than any initiative given.
And this is not perceived.
It is a vivid observation.
You appear the only one here,
Who can not 'see'!

So strike up that band.
Too many are serious.
And prepared they are...
To take a stand!
Command what you have.
Or leave!

Command As You Demand It

Strike up the band,
And...
Command as you demand it.
Compose a little tune.
With a filling of a room to boom.

And strike up the band.
With a command from you demanded.
Compose a little tune.
With a filling of a room to boom.

Grandstand and be free to be candid.
Strike up the band,
And...
Forget about offending those who may witness.
Strike up the band,
And...
Do it with a strutting flaunted you do best.
With a caring less who objects your steps.

Strike up the band,
And...
Command as you demand it.
Compose a little tune.
With a filling of a room to boom.

And strike up the band.
With a command from you demanded.
Compose a little tune.
With a filling of a room to boom.

Forget about offending those who may witness.
Strike up the band.
And...
With a caring less who objects your steps.
Strike up the band.
And...
Forget about offending those who may witness.
Strike up the band.
And...
With a caring less who objects your steps.
Strike up the band.

I mean, I think I liked every band I ever played in because each band was different, each band had a different concept, and each band leader was different... different personalities and musical tastes.

Rock 'N' Roll Band

If we were a rock 'n' roll band,
We'd travel all over the land.
We'd play and we'd sing and wear spangly things.
If we were a rock 'n' roll band.
If we were a rock 'n' roll band,
And we were up there on the stand,
The people would here us and love us and cheer us.
Hurray for that rock 'n' roll band.
If we were a rock 'n' roll band,
Then we'd have a million fans.
We'd giggle and laugh and sign autographs,
If we were a rock 'n' roll band.
If we were a rock 'n' roll band.
The people would all kiss our hands.
We'd be millionaires and have extra long hair,
If we were a rock 'n' roll band.
But we ain't no rock 'n' roll band,
We're just seven kids in the sand.
With homemade guitars and pails and jars
And drums of potato chip cans.
Just seven kids in the sand.
Talk'n and waven' our hands.
And dreamin' and thinkin' oh wouldn't it be grand,
If we were a rock 'n' roll band.

Bad Fit

How many nails do I have to have
hammered into my brain to realise
we don't fit?

This liaison has always been flawed.
Gel, we never did, but we had passion.
A wealth of it.

Should I take this hammer
and strike the final blow?
I don't know.

Hammers strike memories,
as though they're all piano keys
and the sound is harsh..

They have me re-visiting old war wounds
that I should have buried years ago.
They are awakening.

They've been dormant for so long.
Maybe I should have one final strike
and put them to rest.

The trouble is, if I pick up the hammer
and strike the first blow,
I may never stop

Kiss Me

(CHILDREN VOICES THROUGHOUT SONG)
Kiss me
out of the bearded barly
nightly
beside the green green grass
swing swing (swing swing)
swing the spinning step
you wear those shoes and
i will wear that dress.
ohhhh......
(chorus)
kiss me
beneath the milky twilight
lead me
out on the moonlit floor,
lift your open hand
strike up the band and
make the fog lights dance
silver moon sparkling.
So, kiss me.
Kiss me (kiss me)
Down by the broken treehouse
Swing me (swing me)
upon it's hanging tire,
Bring bring (bring bring)
bring your flowerhat
we'll take the trail marked on your
father's map, ohhhhh
(chorus)
instrumental section
OHHH....kiss me
beneath the milky twilight
lead me
out on the moonlit floor,
lift your open hand
strike up the band and
make the fog lights dance
silver moon sparkling.
So, kiss me.
So, kiss me.
So, kiss me.
(lalala lalala)
So, kiss me.
Thank you (spoken)

The Man I Love

Someday hell come along, the man I love
And hell be big and strong, the man I love
And when he comes my way
Ill do my best to make him stay
Hell look at me and smile,
Ill understand
And in a little while hell take my hand
And though it seems absurd
I know we both wont say a word
Maybe I shall meet him sunday
Maybe monday, maybe not
Still Im sure to meet him one day
Maybe tuesday will be my good news day
Hell build a little home, just meant for two
From which well never roam; who would, would you?
And so all else above Im waiting for the man I love
The man I love had the odd distinction of becoming a recognized standard despite its having been (1)
Thrown out of the musical for which it had been written
(lady, be good! in 1924); (2) sung in a show that flopped on the road (the 1927 strike up the
Band); (3) added to and then cut from a third musical
(rosalie); (4) rejected when strike up the band was successfully revised in 1929. the reason for
The last situation was ironic: the song had become too well
Known!

Rock n Roll Band

Sitting in the darkest corner
In the candlelight I saw saw her face
She was looking so sad and lonely
Someone help me, someone save me
I could see the look she gave me, oh
Oh yeah, and there was one thing only
That I knew I could do
Lets go girl
Its a beautiful place this world
Come on baby lets dance
To the rocknroll band
Lets go now
Let me show you that I know how
Come on baby lets dance
To the rockn roll band
Come on baby lets dance
To the rockn roll band
Youve been sitting there for hours
Try to hide behind the flowers now
Baby, we could have fun together
Come on, cheer up, lets get started
No use being broken-hearted now
Oh yeah, youre gonna feel much better
Yes I know that you will
Lets go girl
Its a beautiful place this world
Come on baby lets dance
To the rockn roll band
Lets go now
Let me show you that I know how
Come on baby lets dance
To the rockn roll band
Come on baby lets dance
To the rockn roll band

Rubber Band

Rubber band
Theres a rubber band that plays tunes out of tune
In the library garden sunday afternoon
While a little chappie waves a golden wand
Rubber band
In 1910 I was so handsome and so strong
My moustache was stiffly waxed and one foot long
And I loved a girl while you played teatime tunes
Dear rubber band, youre playing my tune out of tune
Oh
Rubber band
Wont you play a haunting theme again to me
While I eat my scones and drink my cup of tea
The sun is warm but its a lonely afternoon
Oh, play that theme
Rubber band
How I wish that I could join your rubber band
We could play in lively parks throughout the land
And one sunday afternoon, Id find my love
Rubber band,
In the 14-18 war I went to sea
Thought my sunday love was waiting home for me
And now shes married to the leader of the band, oh
Oh yeah... I hope you break your baton

E: Simple

We've got it simple
Cause we've got a band
And we've got cymbals in the band
We've got it simple
Cause we've got a band
And we've got cymbals in the band
What is a band without cymbals?
Ooh ooh cymbals are grand
We've got a saxophone
Cause we've got a band
And we've got a saxophone in the band
We've got a saxophone
Cause we've got a band
And we've got saxophone in the band
What is a band without saxophone
Ooh ooh saxophone is grand
Cymbals and saxophones
Saxophones and cymbals (2x)
We've got Be-bop
Cause we've got a band
And we play Be-bop in the band
We've got skyscrapers
And it seems a pretty tune
Every band needs skyscrapers too
What is a band without skyscrapers
Ooh ooh skyscrapers is grand

Down By The Riverside & When The Saints Come Marching In

(words & music by giant - baum - kaye)
Lets snap our fingers clap our hands
Down by the riverside, down by the riverside, down by the riverside
Lets give em what the song demands
Down by the riverside, down by the riverside
Well hear them playing keep that beat
Down by the riverside, down by the riverside, down by the riverside
Lets get together what a treat
Down by the riverside, down by the riverside
Strike up the band, start the parade
Dont let that grand old rhythm fade
Just play that drum, play that number
When the saints come marchin in
Shake tambourines, play that cornet
Crank up that horn you wont forget
Your heart will hum to that number
When the saints come marchin in
The cymbals clang, just pound that beat
Sounds like a hundred marching feet
Its fun to join in that number
When the saints come marchin in
See banners wave, oh hear that ring
We all feel prouder than a king
cause everyone, everyone loves that number
When the saints come marchin in

Old Tunes

When friends are listening round me, Jack, to hear my dying breath,
And I am lying in a sleep they say will end in death,
Don’t notice what the doctor says—and let the nurse complain——
I’ll tell you how to rouse me if I’ll ever wake again.

Just you bring in your fiddle, Jack, and set your heart in tune,
And strike up “Annie Laurie”, or “The Rising of the Moon”;
And if you see no token of a rising in my throat,
You’ll need to brace your mouth, old man—I’m booked by Charon’s boat.

And if you are not satisfied that I am off the scene,
Strike up “The Marseillaise”, or else “The Wearing of the Green”;
And should my fingers tremble not, then I have crossed the line,
But keep your fingers steady, Jack, and strike up “Auld Lang Syne”.

Let The Hammer Fall

Its getting closer now
The clock strikes midnight time
It is the tolling of the judgement bell
You fear the dead of night
There aint no place to hide
This is your point of no return
Now we are ready to strike, again
Its getting far to late, my friend
Let the hammer fall
We are above the law
Let our power show
That were in full control of your destiny
Now we are ready to strike, again
Its getting far to late, my friend
Let the hammer fall
Oh, oh, oh
Were getting closer now
The chill of distant eyes
Your on a dead end street into the night
Now we are ready to strike, again
Its getting far to late, my friend
Let the hammer fall
Let the hammer fall
