Dragons

well im watching the dragons as they make another claim
he used to be a friend of mine, i called him by his name
well theres nothing you can say to nirvana when its packed up in a syringe
we'll call up your mama and bus in all your friends
well im watching the dragons
as they slither out of sight
and i wonder who'll be sleeping alone tonight
beth lost her sister, they came and they took her away
and there aint enough pills in the world and nothing i can say
so i tell her i love her and that shes a friend
and each time i leave her, i wonder if i'll see her again
well im watching the dragons
as they slither out of sight
and i wonder who'll be sleeping alone tonight
then i look in the mirror
the dragon has many forms
i wonder if hes coming for me
because i have been forewarned
well im wathing the dragons
as they slither out of sight
and i wonder who'll be sleeping alone tonight

I believe in Fairies too for M lady Ernestine

Sometimes at night across the sky.
I see the silver dragons fly.
Although not everyone can see
the dragons dancing gracefully.

My friends think I have lost the plot
but I assure them I have not.
I don’t know why they cannot see
what is so very clear to me.

Perhaps I have an open mind
and they do not, so they are blind.
Moonlight reflecting on their scales.
This is a sight that never fails

to make me stop and realise.
Some cannot see though they have eyes.
They don’t believe the evidence
of their own eyes. It makes no sense.

Because they can’t believe it’s true
and won’t adjust their point of view.
But I believe and I can see
the dragons flying easily.

When twilight falls if you just try,
you too will see them fly
Unless you too, have closed your
mind and don’t believe in dragon kind.

Dragon's Delight

dragon's fire,
dragon's flame,
dragons dance and dragons play,
filled with darkness,
filled with light,
these dragons feel so delighted,
the bonfire blazes,
the dragons dance,
as the moon's twilight sets in the east,
their dance turns with fire,
as it turns into an inferno,
the dragons eyes shine like diamonds,
as the night continues into the day.

Fighting Dragons

For fighting the fate
I need to be brave
Gathering courage for
Hunting all
The dragons of our time.
In our dreams
No dragons must appear,
Go chase them out of our world.

Dreaming of dragons
Remembering good times
As a legend that still shines
Gather all your force to fight
Or get the help of a brave knight.
No one must ever destroy our dreams
So keep on fighting the dragons.

Silvers Home Tonight

Funny how she still remembers
Those words of love that got him nowhere
Even though she knows hes calling
She never finds the way to show her feelings
She doesnt mind the hours shes keeping
Hes waking when shes sleeping
For him it means so much to hear her voice
Shes home tonight
Silvers home tonight
And in the morning light
Shell feel much better
Home tonight, shell stay home tonight
Shell be sleeping light
Till he calls her again
Even though they didnt know it
Standing in the shadow love was waiting
Shed been his friend for such a long time
But never told the boy her heart was breaking
Silver had no way of knowing
That secretly his love was growing
And now hes coming back to stay
Shes home tonight
Silvers home tonight
And in the morning light
Theyre gonna be together
Home tonight, silvers home tonight
She can hear him saying Ill never leave you again
She could only wait
Till the time was right
It was never too late
Shes home tonight
Silvers home tonight
And in the morning light
Theyre gonna be together
Home tonight
Silvers home tonight
She can hear him saying Ill never leave you again

Love Spins

Hold back the night
I wonder what shes doing when shes not in sight
I wonder where shes going who she holds tonight
I wonder if shes sleeping alone
And hold back the pain
I cover up the teardrops in the pouring rain
My heart has been run over by a runaway train
I wonder if shes ever alone
Let it go! let it go! let it go!
Her love spins like a merry-go-round
Going up and down, shes far away bound
Her love - expression of vision and sound
Its setting me up, and then its kicking me down
Dont fade to gray,
I wonder if shes ever coming back to stay
Shes running on the edge she hit the harder way
I wonder if shes only a dream
So hold back the night,
I wonder what shes doing when shes not in sight
I wonder where shes going who she holds tonight
I wonder if shes lost in a dream
Let it go! let it go! let it go!
Her love spins ...

Shes A Runaway

Written by russ ballard, 1983
Found on your move, the very best of america, and highway.
Yesterday she stood here with me
I kissed her mouth, I had her in my hands
That kind of love, it could last forever
And together we made our plans
And then I woke up today
There on the table her letter lay
Tellin me shes goin away
Runaway, boy have you seen a
Girl like an angel runnin in the night
Shes run away, boy if you see her
Im beggin you to stop her on sight
If you see her tonight then stop her on sight
Shes a runaway, a runaway
And why shed leave I still cant believe
That she would run away, run away
Run away, run away
Shes a runaway
I walked the streets through the heart of the city
Go to the places where she might be
I see her friends they say its a pity
I get the same thing from everyone that I see
Ill keep searchin if its gotta be
And when I find her Ill make her see
No other man could love her like me
Runaway, boy have you seen a
Girl like an angel runnin in the night
Shes run away, boy if you see her
Im beggin you to stop her on sight
If you see her tonight then stop her on sight
Shes a runaway, a runaway
And why shed leave I still cant believe
That she would run away, run away
Run away, run away
Shes a runaway
Run away, run away
If you see her tonight then stop her on sight
Shes a runaway, a runaway
And why shed leave I still cant believe
That she would run away, run away
If you see her tonight then stop her on sight
Shes a runaway, a runaway

Pax Draconis

In days of old when dragons flew
amongst the clouds for all to see
They did not hide no reason to.
Men viewed them most respectfully.

They did no harm but culled the herds
of beasts too numerous to count.
No voice of protest to be heard,
the race of men of small account.

But men bred most prolifically.
Always their population grew.
The dragons lacked fertility
their numbers dwindled to a few.

Then man decided in his pride
to prove human supremacy.
It would be best if Dragons died.
The last few dragons forced to flee.

These Dragons hid themselves
away from man’s insensate cruelty
but swore that one day man would pay.
Rebuilt their numbers secretly.

The Dragons now are numerous.
Though disbelieved by modern man,
odd sightings seen as spurious.
Prepare themselves to rule again.

The U.F.O.s that some men see.
Not aliens from outer space
but Dragons flying fast and free.
New champions of the dragon race.

When they decide the time is right
they will erase the human race.
Take the revenge they feel is right
and once more take their rightful place.

As rulers of the earth and sky.
Mans handiwork will rot away.
With no man left to wonder why.
This was the price they had to pay.

The earth will be a place of peace
without mankind’s belligerence.
At last the endless wars will cease.
The dragon race have much more sense.

Though creatures will still kill to eat
As Mother Nature meant them to.
On equal terms they will compete.
When all the Dragons dreams come true.

Im Not Sleeping

(feat. krayzie bone)
Wake up, wake up....
Turn on the water
Close the door
I wont let you tear me down
Just another moment
When the sound of your voice
Cuts me to the ground
Locked in here just to make
Myself feel better
Look in the mirror
And tell myself that Im okay
I know it doesnt matter
Whatever I do
Its always second best
I gotta free my mind
Exactly what you wanted
You opened me up
The secrets I confessed
Wake up, wake up
Im not here just to
Make you feel better
Stroke your ego
Live happy ever after
Im not sleeping
And I aint dreaming
And I aint fooled anymore
Im not sleeping
Just to wake up on the floor
Im not sleeping
Anymore
So many times
I wanted to go
But I just lost my way
Watching you unravelling
The last piece of thread
That held me into place
I dont care if you hear a word
Im saying
I can only hear
The voices screaming in my head
Im not sleeping
And I aint dreaming
And I aint fooled anymore
Im not sleeping
Just to wake up on the floor
Im not sleeping
I done beat your game
But Im not even sleeping no more, Im not even tired
And Im sick of dreaming pain
Tossing and turning all night and waking wide up
Now Im really looking at the door shouldve made this move before
I cant take this anymore
I dont want no more nightmares in the night
No not tonight
I already seen the light
I gotta free my mind
And wake up, wake up
Im not sleeping
And I aint dreaming
And I aint fooled anymore
Wake up
Im not sleeping
Just to wake up on the floor
Im not sleeping
I done beat your game
But Im not even sleeping no more, Im not even tired
Go to wake up
I done beat your game
But Im not even sleeping no more, Im not even tired
Im not sleeping
Just to wake up on the floor
Im not sleeping
Anymore

Voluntary exile.

One day the dragons will return.
A privilege we have to earn.
The fled from our belligerence
They had to flee in self defence.

The dragons know humanity
Has not yet reached maturity.
The do not doubt that in due course.
Men will give up the use of force.

To resolve every argument.
But talk when war is imminent.
Learn to use diplomacy.
Which works much more effectively.

Than fighting for supremacy
When two nations disagree.
This world could be a paradise.
If we can learn to compromise.

The dragons will return again.
Resume their mentorship of man
When we mature sufficiently
and can agree to disagree.

The dragons know the day will come
when once again they are welcome.
To arbitrate impartially
as mentors of humanity.

Although I may not live to see
The silver dragons flying free
Above the earth as they should be.
The guardians of humanity.

Is this a dream, a fantasy
Which is peculiar to me?
That judgement I must leave to you.
Though I believe it to be true.

Watching The Sky

(v. peterson/s. hoffs)
Vicki
Watching the sky
And the moon we both lie under
Miles and miles between us
It makes me wonder
Are you watching the sky too
You fly in circles around the dark side of your soul
While Im flying in this airplane with no sense of control
Black sky wraps around us
Like skin it keeps us whole
And are you watching the sky too
Big hotel island in a small town
They send me flowers for my room
But tonight Ill drink their wind
Tonight Im gonna have a good time
Hanging on the telephone as if it were my friend
Craving some of that sweetness on the other end
Ill lay under the stars tonight
Instead of sleep, pretend
That you are watching the sky too

One more time for M'lady Ernestine

I yearn to see the dragons fly.
Just one more time before I die
As I did so long ago.
Around Mount Kilimanjaro

I slept beneath the moonlit sky
and often saw the dragons fly.
It was a privilege to see
the dragons dancing gracefully

But I fell ill and had to go
back to the city far below.
Where the doctors treating me
convinced me it was fantasy.

Induced by fever of the brain.
When I was fully fit again
a crisis in the family.
Meant that I was no longer free

To indulge my wanderlust
I had no choice but to adjust
to the rules of society.
I am sure where I’d rather be.

In Africa where I could see
The silver dragons flying free.
I know I have not long to live
But what I have I’d gladly give.

To see the dragons one last time
To see them circle swoop and climb
Around mount Kilimanjaro
As I did so long ago.

Chaos Rules for Friend Thad

The Dragoness last of her race.
Lies somnolent beneath the sun,
there will be none to take her place.
Remembering her youth long gone.

Three thousand years of life she’s seen.
The Dragons are a long lived race.
She can recall when there had been
a world of peace, a perfect place.

But upstart monkeys, protomen.
A warlike and fast breeding race
which quickly and grew again.
Usurped the Dragons living space.

They forced the Dragons to withdraw
from where they’d lived for centuries.
But still the men demanded more
of the fertile territories.

Though Dragons were more powerful.
By nature peaceably inclined
did not resist as usual
and this encouraged humankind.

To spread across each continent
and keep the Dragons in retreat.
Their numbers grew incontinent.
The Dragon race could not compete.

The Dragons rule brought to a close
The age of peace on earth was gone
simply because the dragons chose
not to resist.Should they have done?

That is the question in her mind
as she waits patiently to die.
The last survivor of her kind
She asks but she gets no reply.

The human race now rules supreme.
Rather a doubtful victory
A night mare fashioned from a dream
for man is mans worst enemy.

Be My Friend Tonight

I threw a party. nobody came.
I bought all the tickets. they cancelled the game.
I give you my picture. it didnt fit your frame
Be my friend tonight
Be my friend tonight. be my friend tonight.
Ill sleep on the couch. you can leave on that light.
Well, I wont do nothing wrong till you say its right
Come on honey, be my friend tonight
Now you bring the glasses and Ill bring the wine
Ill rub your shoulders just like they were mine
I wont make no passes till its passing time
If youre only gonna be my buddy tonight
Be my friend tonight. be my friend tonight.
Ill sleep on the couch. you can leave on that light.
Well, I wont do nothing wrong till you say its right
Come on darling, be my friend tonight
Well, Ill mind my manners. my ps and qs
I wont give you nothing that you cant use
Ill whip out that old guitar and sing you the blues
Be my friend tonight
Be my friend tonight. be my friend tonight.
Ill sleep on the couch. you can leave on that light.
Well, I wont do nothing wrong till you say its right
Come on honey, be my friend tonight
Be my friend tonight. be my friend tonight.
Ill sleep on the couch. you can leave on that light.
Well, I wont do nothing wrong till you say its right
Come on darling, be my friend tonight

Nobody

Take off your shoes... Take off yourself
Take off your rented mental health
Take off your raincoat... settle down
Take off your nightmare and your frown
There is a place for you to go
To see another ringer in a rock show
Take my pretense for a time
Cause I want to say to you
I'm nobody without you...buddy
My long lost friend
If you're not here to hear me scream
Am I silent like a dream
Where all the dragons are my friends
Each night we meet our bitter ends
Do I need you to make me real
Like Wheeler spinning his own wheel
Quantum strings within my brain
Popping sanities insane
I'm nobody without you...buddy
My long lost friend
Not everybody has a brain
Not everybody's going sane
Not everybody wishes well
Not everybody's heaven's hell
Sometimes there's someone to blame
Sometimes a place for shame
Sometimes good's better than bad
Sometimes good's better than bad
Sometimes good's better than bad
Sometimes you're better than me
Heaven fell on herself tonight
As the devil met me in the wishing well
And in that moment I found myself knowing
That in the end it's just about you and me
Nothing smaller or larger
Though dragons are good for the soul
Nothing can be better than baring yourself for another...
Open for scrutiny, ridicule, and indulgence
Therein lies the balls, and the mind, and the heart...
As fear is truly the Mindkiller...
When nothing is left...
Everything is gained...
You see I wish I was a poet
But I know as we go round and round
Though endings are never ever happy
It's the happy moments along the way
That in the end

My Dragon and I

I sat one night on hill top high
And hummed the saddest tune
The thoughts i had just made me cry
As i stared at the moon

I felt the earth begin to shake
Below my trembling feet
The hill such sounds began to make
I really was quite beat

I glanced below, let out a wail
For something there was heaving
I'd sat upon a dragon's tale
And he was fire breathing!

'Spare me! dragon I am small
I cannot be that tasty! '
He soon replied with dragon's roar
'I'm really not that hasty'

'I wondered why your crying so
Your sobs woke me from sleeping,
I thought that you may share them so
Those saddest thoughts you're keeping'

So there i sat and spoke my mind
About the thoughts I kept
And how i stared up at the moon
And cried while he had slept

'Sadness is an awful thing'
He murmured as he thought
'At times like this i often sing!
though dragons didn't ought'

'Oh great! ' cried I with impish grin
emblazoned on my face
'Let's hit some notes some low some high
and rock this lonely place! '

So there we were on hill top high
My Dragon friend and me
Just singing songs for all we're worth
We carried on 'till tea.

The moral of my little tale?
It's great to be enlightened
Should you hear a Dragons wail
Then don't be quite so frightened!

Loves lament

Loves Lament.

The dragon sings his mating song
and voices his sad loneliness.
To be alone he feels is wrong
he seeks a mate a dragoness.

He sings it from the mountain peaks.
A song of love and tenderness
He lets the world know that he seeks
to find a mate a dragoness.

But female dragons are so rare
his hopes of happiness are few.
His lament fills the upper air
there’s nothing else that he can do.

He sings his love song every night
when day is done and twilight falls.
He hopes one day that he just might
receive an answer to his calls.

He sings his plaintive melody
resounding clearly everywhere
and always listens carefully.
He’s sure that there must be somewhere.

A dragoness who’s lonely too.
One fine night he hears a voice
an answer that’s long overdue.
His heart aflame he must rejoice.

A dragoness has heard his call
and from afar she quickly flew
. She lands upon his eyrie wall.
says” I am Flame but who are you”

He bows to her and he replies
“ My name is Star I live alone.
Your coming took me by surprise
The greatest gift that I have known”

She says that she too seeks a mate.
His love call lifted her despair.
Perchance it’s time to celebrate.
She thinks they’ll make a lovely pair.

He then proposes formally
for Dragons are a polite race
and she accepts him readily
and couches her reply in grace.

But still each night the dragon sings
of how he loves his dragoness.
Enfolds her safely in his wings
and treats her with great tenderness.

You may not think my tale is true.
For fools say dragons don’t exist
I can assure you that they do.
That’s why the legends still persist.

Although they may be far and few.
If you are lucky you may see
a pair of dragons: If you do
then just enjoy it quietly.

There is no need to brag and boast.
you will be labelled as insane.
But you are luckier than most
to see the dragons fly again.

My Talk of Dragons

My talk is never at cost, it does not earn wages,
The dragons and its language despise with buzzes.
The armour of the reptilian race shall be noble,
Force talking, force information from the abnormal.
My talk shall not enter prisons all the time,
Do not hear them who speak with a mime.
They are scared of dragons, for they wrote their words,
Arguing why they heard or not, even in the blizzards.
My sages will confer with me, and upright are the dragons
Who flew over my head and then encircled us with disruptions.

Dragon's Fire

What is held
In the dragons fire
Is it power
Or is it life
Burning down things
Making new things grow
Trees and grass
Falling to ash
Castles and knights
Arrows and swords
Weapons to kill
One another
Wings flap
In the sky
Noises coming
From afar
They are the noises
Of dragons roaring
Scaly bodies
Powerful claws
Teeth are still
Razor sharp
Blowing fire
From deep within
It is made
From there hearts
So what to see
Inside these yellow flames
Of the dragons fire

Watching For Pa

Three little forms in the twilight gray,
Searching the shadows across the way;
Two pair of black eyes, and one of blue --
Brimful of love, and of mischief too;
Watching for Pa!
Watching for Pa!
Sitting by the window,
Watching for Pa!

Watching for Pa!
Watching for Pa!
Sitting by the window,
Watching for Pa!

May, with her placid and thoughtful brow,
Beaming with kindness and love just now;
Willie the youngest, in anguish did lay,
Stealing sly kisses from sister May,
Watching for Pa!
Watching for Pa!
Sitting by the window,
Watching for Pa!

Watching for Pa!
Watching for Pa!
Sitting by the window,
Watching for Pa!

Nellie, with ringlets of sunny hue,
Cosily nested between the two;
Pressing her cheeks to the window pane,
Wishing the absent one home again.
Watching for Pa!
Watching for Pa!
Sitting by the window,
Watching for Pa!

Watching for Pa!
Watching for Pa!
Sitting by the window,
Watching for Pa!

Now there are shouts from the window seat;
There is a patter of childish feet;
Gaily they rush through the lighted hall --
"Coming at last" is the joyful call.
Watching for Pa!
Watching for Pa!
Standing on the doorstep,
Watching for Pa!

Watching for Pa!
Watching for Pa!
Standing on the doorstep,
Watching for Pa!
