Lamerica

Yeeeaahh
I took a trip down to lamerica
To trade some beads for a pint of gold
I took a trip down to lamerica
To trade some beads for a pint of gold
Lamerica, lamerica, lamerica x2
Cmon people, dont ya look so down
You know the rain mans comin ta town
Change the weather, change your luck
And then hell teach ya how ta...find yourself
Lamerica
Friendly strangers came to town
All the people put them down
But, the women loved their ways
Come again some other day
Like the gentle rain
Like the gentle rain that falls
I took a trip down to lamerica
To trade some beads for a pint of gold
I took a trip down to lamerica
To trade some beads for a pint of gold
Lamerica, lamerica, lamerica
Lamerica, lamerica, lamerica, lamerica

Why You Wanna Trip On Me

They Say I'm Different
They Don't Understand
But There's A Bigger Problem
That's Much More In Demand
You Got World Hunger
Not Enough To Eat
So There's Really No Time
To Be Trippin' On Me

You Got School Teachers
Who Don't Wanna Teach
You Got Grown People
Who Can't Write Or Read
You Got Strange Diseases
Ah But There's No Cure
You Got Many Doctors
That Aren't So Sure
So Tell Me

Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Stop Trippin'

We've Got More Problems
Than We'll Ever Need
You Got Gang Violence
And Bloodshed On The Street
You Got Homeless People
With No Food To Eat
With No Clothes On Their Back
And No Shoes For Their Feet

We've Got Drug Addiction
In The Minds Of The Weak
We've Got So Much Corruption
Police Brutality
We've Got Streetwalkers
Walkin' Into Darkness
Tell Me
What Are We Doin'

To Try To Stop This

Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Ooh Stop Trippin'
Yeah Stop Trippin'
Everybody Just Stop Trippin'

Why You Wanna Trip On Me
Why You Wanna Trip On Me

(Can't You) Trip Like I Do

I've got the understanding of a 4-year-old
I've got the piece of mind of a killer soul
I've got the rationale of a new york cop
I've got the patience of a chopping block yeah
trip like I do
trip like I do (oh my god this is the best)
I've got the acumen of a season broke
I've got the lack of say of a billion souls
I've got the world on my back but I don't seem to care
I've got the comprehension of a world unaware yeah
trip like i do
trip like I do (oh my god this is the best)
trip like i do (mm..i want you to trip like i do)
can't you, can't you trip like i do
can't you, can't you trip like I do
laid down my back i can't sleep cause I'm falling
eyes in my teeth i can't see cause i'm eating
head full of noise I can't think cause it's crushing
back on my feet like a freight train I'm coming
can everybody feel like I do
can everybody feel like I do (oh my god)
can't you can't you trip like I do
can't you can't you trip like I do (oh my god)
can't you trip can't you think can't you feel like I do
can't you walk can't you breathe can't you trip like I do...

Take A Little Trip

If we could leave this big old city
And head back for the cabin we loved back deep in the woods
Whoa baby we would
If we could jump in some big old jet plane & head for the islands
Where the weather is always good
Oh dont you know we would
Well we cant do this & we cant do that
But baby we can stay right where were at
Take a little trip, take a little trip
Take a little trip up to heaven tonight
Take a little time leave it all behind
Take a little trip up to heaven tonight
We could go downtown to a nightclub
And dance to the rythm of the music on that old hardwood
Whoa baby we could
We could call up rita & bobby
And see what theyre doing tonight & maybe play some rook
Yeah baby we could
Yeah now we can do this or we can do that
Or baby we can stay right where were at
Take a little trip, take a little trip
Take a little trip up to heaven tonight
Take a little time leave it all behind
Take a little trip you and me out of sight
Pull down the shades turn out the lights
Take a little trip up to heaven tonight
Take a little trip, take a little trip
Take a little trip up to heaven tonight
Take a little trip me and you out of sight
Pull down the shades turn out the lights
Take a little trip up to heaven tonight
Who hoo hoo
Who hoo hoo
Who hoo hoo
Who hoo hoo

Skip Your Trip

Skip your trip.
And admit to it.
Just seal your lips.
And listen a bit.
Skip your trip...
And listen to what's been said.

It's okay to make mistakes.
People have done that everyday.
But it's not okay...
Just to turn and walk away.

It's okay to make mistakes.
People have done that everyday.
But it's not okay...
To believe your way is 'the' way.

Skip your trip.
And admit to it.
Just seal your lips.
And listen a bit.
Skip your trip...
And listen to what's been said.

No one has to disrespect,
An opinion that they don't accept.
Because it's something they wish not to hear.

No one has to get upset.
To later find they have regrets.
When all they had to do is comprehend.
And everybody says that this is wished.
But patience slips from them real quick.
And brooding attitudes are left to share.
Everywhere the frowns are there.

Skip your trip.
And admit to it.
Just seal your lips.
And listen a bit.
Skip your trip...
And listen to what's been said.

Skip your trip.
And listen up a bit!
Skip your trip.
And listen up a bit!
Skip your trip.
And use your head instead!

Oh...
Skip your trip.
And listen up a bit!
Skip your trip.
And listen up a bit!
Skip your trip.
And use your head instead!

Tradewinds

(macdonald / salter)
Here I stand looking, looking around me
While all around me what do I see
Unhappy faces behind a painted smile
Heartache and loneliness dressed up in modern style
Unhappy people living in sin and shame
Reflections of myself, life is no easy game
Were caught in the trade winds
The trade winds of our time
Here I stand looking, looking around me
While all around me what do I see
Young girls wholl soon become
Streetwalkers in the night
Young boys, the restless breed
Looking for a fight
Children both rich and poor
Theyre searching for the truth
If they dont find it
God help tomorrows youth
Were caught in the trade winds
The trade winds of our time
Trade winds are blowing, blowing around me
While all around me what do I see
Hatred and jealousy
Brotherhood is dying
Love is the answer
But nobodys buying
Good people turning bad
Some dont but they are few
The winds are blowing
The choice is all up to you
Were caught in the trade winds
The trade winds of our time
Yes were caught up in the trade winds
The trade winds of our time
We are riding on the trade winds
The trade winds of our time

Mardi Grass New Orleans

Driving down highway 95,
going to New Orleans before night.
It was too late,
we went the wrong way,
we were heading east to Savanah that day.
In town we finally did arrive,
at least it wasn’t in the morning at five.
Next morning I went to downtown,
beads where being thrown all around.
Children threw me beads my way
they sparkled and shined I have to say.
Brought them back to MN state,
children I played with said they were great.
Some kept them hidden from me,
that’s o.k. they have found memories.
Now I have to visit once again,
get more beads to send to friends.

I Wouldve Loved You Anyway

(m.danna/t.verges)
If Id a-known the way that this would end
If Id a-read the last page first
If Id a-had the strength to walk away
If Id a-known how this would hurt
I wouldve loved you anyway
Id do it all the same
Not a second I would change
Not a touch that I would trade
Had I known my heart would break
Id a-loved you anyway
Its bittersweet to look back now
At memries withered on the vine
But just to hold you close to me
For a moment in time
I wouldve loved you anyway
Id do it all the same
Not a second I would change
Not a touch that I would trade
Had I known my heart would break
Id a-loved you anyway
And even if Id seen it coming
Youd stillve seen me running
Straight into your arms
I wouldve loved you anyway
Id do it all the same
Not a second I would change
Not a touch that I would trade
Had I known my heart would break
I wouldve loved you anyway
I wouldve loved you anyway

Dewdrops

The dewdrops on every blade of grass are so much like silver drops
that I am obliged to stoop down as I walk to see if they are pearls,
and those sprinkled on the ivy-woven beds of primroses underneath the
hazels, whitethorns and maples are so like gold beads that I stooped
down to feel if they were hard, but they melted from my finger. And
where the dew lies on the primrose, the violet and whitethorn leaves
they are emerald and beryl, yet nothing more than the dews of the
morning on the budding leaves; nay, the road grasses are covered with
gold and silver beads, and the further we go the brighter they seem to
shine, like solid gold and silver. It is nothing more than the sun's
light and shade upon them in the dewy morning; every thorn-point and
every bramble-spear has its trembling ornament: till the wind gets
a little brisker, and then all is shaken off, and all the shining
jewelry passes away into a common spring morning full of budding
leaves, primroses, violets, vernal speedwell, bluebell and orchis, and
commonplace objects.

Pour The Water Of Love

Love will pour river water into the mouth,
In a slumbering delight, the soul is sold.
By the jewellery of hell and always of devils,
The beads of love are counted by all us angels.
On the calm white skin, the great veil is lifted
And we count more beads of love to enlighten life.
We sing and the woods sing, feeling sleep
In a second, fully counting the beads of love.

------------------------------------
Says my aul wan to your aul wan
Will ye go to the waxies dargle?
Says your aul wan to my aul wan,
I havent got a farthing.
I went up to monto town
To see uncle mcardle
But he wouldnt give me a half a crown
For to go to the waxies dargle.
What will ya have? !
Ill have a pint!
Ill have a pint with you, sir!
And if one of ya doesnt order soon
Well be chucked out of the boozer!
Says my aul wan to your aul wan
Will ye go to the galway races?
Says your aul wan to my aul wan,
Ill hawk me aul mans braces.
I went up to capel street
To the jewish moneylenders
But he wouldnt give me a couple of bob
For the aul mans red suspenders.
Chorus
Says my aul wan to your aul wan
We got no beef or mutton
If we went up to monto town
We might get a drink for nuttin
Heres a nice piece of advice
I got from an aul fishmonger:
When food is scarce and you see the hearse
Youll know you have died of hunger.
Chorus x2

Says my aul wan to your aul wan
Will ye come to the waxies dargle?
Says your aul wan to my aul wan,
Sure I havent got a farthing.
Ive just been down to monto town
To see uncle mcardle
But he didnt have half a crown
For to go to the waxies dargle.
What are ye having, will ye have a pint?
Yes, Ill have a pint with you, sir,
And if one of us doesnt order soon
Well be thrown out of the boozer.
Says my aul wan to your aul wan
Will ye come to the galway races?
Says your aul wan to my aul wan,
With the price of my aul lads braces.
I went down to capel street
To the jew man moneylenders
But they wouldnt give me a couple of bob on

Dog Star Girl

Maybe its just a twist of light tonight, but the citys so bright, this whole towns in focus.
Hed always call me baby strange.
Hes hold my head and pray for rain.
Oh johnny, let me be your dog star girl.
Let me curl inside.
The fires just right.
The fires just right in focus.
But, then he said, like, anything goes, baby.
But I dont know.
I just dont know.
Do you?
And howd I ever get to this dead mans town where the rain, where the rain falls down, where the rain falls down forever?
And then he said, so much for you, so much for me, but I dont see.
No, I dont see.
Do you?
And howd I ever get to this dead mans town where the rain, where the rain falls down, where the rain falls down forever?
Forever.
Forever.
Forever.
Forever.

2010/07/26 Auric Light

An invisible string to thread my small crystal
beads, even Tiaan helping because I cannot
see to do it myself, it would take me a hundred
years at least to complete one string

I wanted to make many strings to represent my
vision of auric light shining out, but after an epic
struggle I gave up and upended the beads in
crystal glasses to enjoy the pristine shine

Without destroying my eyes, Tiaan commenting
‘After suffering for many years to string beads, I
found the solution, dumping beads everywhere’
and I laughed, Nici only shaking her head

While busy with her bead-making craft - I also love
the effect of beads in sea-shells, resembling coarse
salt but with a new shine, no more threading for me
I cannot see, it felt too much like torture

My new system brings us miniature rainbows with-
out the heartache of threading invisible strings
with translucent beads!

Landlubbers

I nigh drops dead (the bo'sun said)
When the gist of things I grip
In the land by these 'ere Southern seas
As I seen on my long last trip.
They seems a joke, them curious folk
Wot bides at the blue sea's lip,
Whose wealth is made in a world-wide trade -
Landlubbers all wot seems afraid,
For they ain't got a deep-sea ship.

No, they ain't got a deep-sea ship, they ain't,
For their 'earts ain't with the blue,
Tho' they claims the seed of the tough sea breed,
Like Drake, an' me an' you.
On their isle sea-girt they farms the dirt
Of a fertile coastal strip;
But they seems afraid of a sea-borne trade
An' the hauls their British fathers made,
For they ain't got a deep-sea ship.

Sea born an' bred (the bo'sun said)
As man an' boy I been
Nigh every place on earth's broad face,
An' all the seas atween;
But I ne'er 'ave spoke such curious folk
As I seen on this 'ere trip,
Who seeks for marts in furrin parts,
Yet for blue water have no hearts;
For they ain't got a deep-sea ship.

No, they ain't got a deep-sea ship, they ain't;
An' it don't seem like they care,
For they 'ands the job to any ole yob
Wot makes a landfall there.
In tramp an' tub they ships their grub -
Aw, it fair gives me the pip!
They've wool an' wine, an' corn an' kine,
An' the carryin' trade would suit 'em, fine,
But they ain't got a deep-sea ship!

Song From ‘The Princess’

As through the street at eve we went
(It might be half-past ten),
We fell out, my friend and I,
About the cube of x+y,
And made it up again.
And blessings on the falling out
Between two learned men,
Who fight on points which neither knows,
And make it up again!
For when we came where stands an inn
We visit now and then,
There above a pint of beer,
Oh there above a pint of beer,
We made it up again.

Faster & Faster To Nowhere

Spoken:
Somebody tell me how to get outta here
Tell me how to get out
Oh Im running faster, faster and faster to nowhere
cause the citys closing tighter and tighter around me
Its a nightmare, daymare, its a badmare
No matter which way-mare
So keep running faster, faster faster and faster to nowhere
Spoken:
Unlock it here
You put me in here you did that
Somebody help me get outta here
I need you please, oh
People pushing, shoving, rushing on into the future
Windows open, closing, in a way that they just never used to
Oh theres violence lurking in the alleys
Where no one should dare go
So keep running faster, faster and faster to nowhere
Spoken:
You put me in here
Youre responsible you didnt help me
Somebody
You see the city is closing in on me
Please, oh
Trip to nowhere, trip to nowhere, trip to nowhere
Were gonna take a little
Trip to nowhere, trip to nowhere, trip to nowhere
Faster and faster...

The Goldsmith's Apprentice

My neighbour, none can e'er deny,

Is a most beauteous maid;
Her shop is ever in mine eye,

When working at my trade.

To ring and chain I hammer then

The wire of gold assay'd,
And think the while: "For Kate, oh when

Will such a ring be made?"

And when she takes her shutters down,

Her shop at once invade,
To buy and haggle, all the town,

For all that's there displayd.

I file, and maybe overfile

The wire of gold assay'd;
My master grumbles all the while,--

Her shop the mischief made.

To ply her wheel she straight begins,

When not engaged in trade;
I know full well for what she spins,--

'Tis hope guides that dear maid.

Her leg, while her small foot treads on,

Is in my mind portray'd;
Her garter I recall anon,--

I gave it that dear maid.

Then to her lips the finest thread

Is by her hand convey'd.
Were I there only in its stead,

How I would kiss the maid!

Only People

Only people know just how to talk to people
Only people know just how to change the world
Only people realize the power of people
Well, a million heads are better than one
So come on, get it on!
Well I know how we tried and the millions of tears that we cried
Now we are hipper we been thru the trip
And we cant be denied with woman and man side by side
Make no mistake its our future were making
Bake the cake and eat it too!
We dont want no pig brother scene!
Only people know just how to talk to people
Only people know just how to change the world
Only people realize the power of people
Well, a million heads are better than one
So come on, get it on!
Well its long overdue there aint nothing better to do
Now we are hipper we been thru the trip
We can fly right on thru, theres nothing on earth we cant do
Fish or cut bait its our future were making
All together now pull the chain
We dont want no pig brother scene!
Only people know just how to talk to people
Only people know just how to change the world
