In His Mind

Verse 1:
He says he keeps a journal
I wonder what he writes of me?
I suppose by now I should know......
But I just cant see
There are a million thoughts always
Running through my head
But the words I think,
Are different from the ones Ive said
Chorus:
In his mind
Cant I go there? spend some time.....
Just to see whats going on
So I can see
If he really thinks of me
In his mind
Something different from his logic
Oh, Ive kept it deep inside
And I dont want to waste precious time
Gotta know whats in his mind
Verse 2:
A person of many words
But still a mystery
When he shuts his eyes at night
Does he see darkness or me? (darkness or me? )
No matter how close we are
There are things well never tell
I know a lot about you
But I know my self better
Very well
In his mind
Cant I go there? spend some time.....
Just to see whats going on
So I can see
Does he really think of me?
In his mind
Something different from his logic
Oh, Ive kept it deep inside
And I dont want to waste precious time
Gotta know whats in his mind
Chorus
Gotta know
I gotta know
In his mind
Something different from his logic
Oh, Ive kept it deep inside
And I dont want to waste precious time
Gotta know whats in his mind

Must

She writes as if there’s not much time.
She writes to pain, to happiness,
She writes to every remote detailed thought.
She writes to the departed,
to the extant,
to poverty,
to wealth.
She writes to mourn, and grief.
She writes to the wind, the rain,
forest, the desert, and mountains.
She writes to her pouring tears,
to her grateful moments,
She writes because really what she has is time.
She has no little ones to feed, or bathe,
nor a husband to make happy. To write is
to escape- to her. Time is not a problem, time
is just a killing system, she needs to kill in many words.
She writes as if there’s not much time.

Kill To Breathe

Completing life with cold blank eyes
My final thoughts race through my mind
With some brief visions of what's to come
Is there a light, it is just done?
I'm running away from what I can't explain
A new location, strange vibration from a different time and age
On a trip, in a dream far away, forgetting the preceding day
I'm being chased, can't move
I'm running in place
Running away
These endless days
The words were said, but I can't hear these voices in my head
Am I running away
Can't move, I'm running in place

Dottie Writes and Cries

Sunlight settles on the
table where Dottie writes.

Her journal records the days
since Willie left, the effects
it has had, her migraines,
the sickness, the stomach
pains, the blood loss.

She writes slowly, neat
and lucid, the pen tight
between finger and thumb.

She pauses, looks at the sunlight,
how the beams seem to dance
upon the cloth, she sucks the end
of the pen, her tongue sensing
the smoothness and plasticness.

She will write of the roses,
how they have grown, the red
like blood, the blood like that
on the sheet before the wash.

She misses her brother, his
departure to fetch Sammy
has pained her, causes her
loss of sleep, despite sleeping
in his bed, caressing his pillow.

She writes again, the pen nib
moving over the journal's page,
her eyes watching the flow,
the words settling on the paper,
the words holding the images,
the images for him, for Willie
to read and have on his return.

A bird song, she cocks an ear,
outside nearby, a robin, she
closes her eyes, grasps the sound,
turns it around in her mind.

She will write that down,
he likes birdsong, loves the
songs, the call of the wild.

She opens her eyes, begins
to write once more, she wants
to cry, pushes her eyes tight
to stop tears hitting the page.

Through teary eyes sees
the sunbeams dance on
what seems like water on
the patterned cloth, she
remembers Willie laying
his head down there once
side ways on and gazing at
her as deep fond lovers may.

She puts down her black pen,
she will write no more today.

I'm running but to where?

Running, running
There is nothing lef to do.
Running...
Away from my tears
Away from my pen
Running to know who I,
am.

Running
But you, don't know what,
You're,
Running from.
Running in circles
Going nowhere.
I'm saying Goodbye
I am runnning away.

Never stop runnning
Words running throught,
My mind.
Running away,
Like the coward,
Like him
Horrible words
I am running and runnning,
For you.

I m running but to where?
I can't believe
That I've put up with you lies.
Im running from the past..
Running out the pain.
Running with out you.

1. One

I am trying to find my poetic rhythm.
Pen my flow of thoughts.
Words running through my mind,
Ideas running through my mind.
Incoherent, Scattered and disjointed

I am trying to make words and ideas one
Create a world of words, in this world of chaos
Words running from one end
Ideas running from one end
On a path of collision

Ideas and words unite, one
One, the beginning
One, the universal beginning
One, the number of the gods
One, my first poem

Coming Thoughts

Coming from my head
Running through my mind
Something possibly untold
Is it hard to find?

Coming from the tip of my tongue
My face starts to express
From many random thoughts
Some different from the rest.

Coming from my mouth
Thoughts from there are spoken
No more hurt do I feel
No more am I broken.

Coming from my head
Running through my mind
Something clearly understood
My thoughts-one of a kind!

Thoughts Whirling

The need to write
Get rid of these mixes mass of thought
What to write?
Yes, something is amiss!
Talking is not enough
Yet thoughts whirling in my head
Unaware of revelling in the words
Which flow from this pen
Still no words
Not sure what to write
Yet here it is
A whole massed mess of words
For all to read
Thought this medley of words
Brought some calmness
Shoulders more relaxed
Fragments of each thought
Clear as daylight
This muddled mass of thoughts
A verse created
By, a whirling mind

He's A Man of His Word

He contemplates life
In general who people are
Or what things are
What is it all about?

He likes to learn
From those of us
With knowledge
Of the here and now
And of the past

He taps away
At his keyboard
As he reads
As he writes
And discovered
To his knowledge
That it helps him
To be a better man

His words are immaculate
Even words I've never heard
But when he writes his poetry
It has meaning to each word

The man is so humble
On what he writes
On what he feels
And on how he preserves others
And their words

I bow to thee Kevin Patrick
Who is a man?
Of his every word

A matter of opinion.

Some people say I am perverse
because I choose to write in verse.
The kind of stories I compose.
They think I ought to write in prose.

They have the right to I suppose.
But I won’t do as they propose.
I much prefer to write in verse
Because I think there’s nothing worse

Than badly written boring prose.
That is the reason why I chose.
To concentrate on rhyming verse.
I see no reason to reverse.

My original decision
to conform to your opinion.
I do not choose to write in prose
I am convinced that I would lose.

My rhyming capability
reducing my ability.
To write my words spontaneously.
I don’t expect you to agree.

Although I am compelled to write.
You’re free to exercise your right
To read or not as you choose to.
Though I confess I hope you do.

I know I can’t please everyone.
That is something that can’t be done
By any writer though they try
A truth no writer can deny.

Your comments are of interest
they spur me on to do my best.
We can agree to disagree
on which is best quite easily.

A poet must choose poetry.
But other writers are quite free.
to share their thoughts written in prose
Because they choose to I suppose.

If you should doubt my competence.
I will not choose to take offence.
You are entitled to your view
Please remember I am too

The sentence of love...

Many thoughts live inside my head,
Yet quite often they go unsaid.
So many thoughts that were not spoken,
Were they merely just a token? ...

Were the thoughts that meant the most,
The ones I never got round to post?
Have I missed the chance to save us all?
I think the chances must be small...

For if those thoughts meant so much,
We should find a way to stay in touch.
Thought understands feelings in a way,
That mere words could never convey...

And just because these words go unsaid,
Does not mean to life that they are dead.
For special words have meaning so true,
The words I'm thinking of are 'I love you...'

So although the words I don't often say,
May not be heard each and every day.
When the sentence of love my head does start,
You shall live forever in my heart...

Spread the love... The peace will follow...

Notepad By My Bed

I keep a notepad
On the nightstand by my bed
To jot down thoughts
that late at night, fill my head

Thoughts that glide
into my brain
That if not captured quick
Slip away… down drowsy drain

A pad replete
With words and phrases
Caught before
I start to snore

Oft' make no sense
When viewed in daylight
As they so clearly
Did the night before

Still, as a writer should write
A little each day
E'en those words
That trip so lightly by night

And that is why, I suppose
Until the day I die
I'll keep a notepad
In which I'll write

On the nightstand
…By my bed…
Close upon
The reading light

Song Of A Rhyming Man

I love the sound of rhyming words like Dan will rhyme with Ann
And I could never be a poet just call me rhyming man
This modern verse too much for me it's way above my head
Though modern poets are now the rage and Rhyme is with the dead.

I love the sound of rhyming words, I love the verse that rhyme
To blank or free or non rhyme verse prefer it every time
And there's many who will disagree and most will say I'm wrong
But give me ballad or rhyme verse or good old rhyming song.

You may say I am limited and with you most will agree
That I'm not into modern verse of twenty first century
But I've been an old style rhyming man since nineteen seventy three
And I am in my sixties now and there's no changing me.

I love the sound of rhyming words like Dan will rhyme with Ann
And I could never be a poet just call me rhyming man
And I am guilty of no sin and I can't see no crime
In liking sound of rhyming verse and loving words that rhyme

Song for Roxalie and Seth (Running)

running away
that's all I ever do
though I never thought
that I'd ever be running from you

shadows fall
across my soul, across my face
I wish that I could just come back
and take my rightful place

but my heart is racing, blood is pumping
can't believe I'm always running
away from my tears
because I never knew
my thoughts are whirling, head is spinning
can't believe I'm just beginning
to realize all you mean to me
when you're around my skies are blue

dreaming
that's all I ever do
but I never thought
that I'd have to just dream about being with you

pain is lurking
behind every twist and turn
but even after all I've been through
I guess I just never learn

now my heart is racing, blood is pumping
can't believe I'm always running
away from my tears
because I never knew
my thoughts are whirling, head is spinning
can't believe I'm just beginning
to realize all you mean to me
when you're around my skies are blue

please come back, we'll make this right
just take away this endless night
there's no reason to add up the score
we were both wrong, I admit
I don't blame you for calling it quits
but baby I'm not running anymore

now my heart is racing, blood is pumping
can't believe I'm always running
away from my tears
because I never knew
my thoughts are whirling, head is spinning
can't believe I'm just beginning
to realize all you mean to me
when you're around my skies are blue

please say I can always come home
to you

Silent Pages

Another passing moment
writes a line in the firmament
And the passing days
Write their own verse of phrases

Another passing year
Writes another stanza,
Of an episode
Whether an elegy or an ode

Every passing generation
a new chapter adds to the collection
Every passing age,
filling another volume of pages

Every thought and deed
known or hid,
that lived and living lives articulate,
hath but no exact duplicate;

a draft manuscript,
a record accurate and fair
without corrections, to keep
in a great library somewhere

A labor in quiet, silent and solemn
the never ending book of poems
being written without hands
and the imprints thereof burned

forever into memories
and left as evidence or legacies
For posterity?
Or to present one day?

The silent words may not always rhyme
Nor make sense
But then musical chimes
of a million spheres
make as much sense…
singin’ in the universe
…but then only to the author
or the composer
alone, perhaps?

Res Gestae

it is his belief that nearing death
and conscious of his end
feeling the lazy flow of his blood corpuscles
on his nape
the numbness running from the tip of his ring finger
to the veins of the heart, that

a man shall tell the truth finally
about his hidden love
his thoughts long buried like a lost treasure
in the secret recesses of his brain

she waits as his head rests on her lap
she has been waiting that long for him to tell the words
of love

he closed his eyes surrendering his soul to the heavens
he did not say anything at all
not even her name

despite that she shed some tears
letting him go finally where his destiny takes him

taking revenge she writes in her diary
that on that day she shed some tears of joy.

Too Beautiful For Words

Verse 1
When I try to describe how I feel when you hold me
I get butterflies lullabies, its hard to explain
Like the sent of a rose or the sound of the rain
Its too precious and too wonderful to give it a name
Chorus
Too beautiful for words
A symphony inside me
Too beautiful for words
I can not take them lightly
Can you hear my silent heart
Verse 2
Its on the tip of my tongue
But my lips are still sealed
Only violins and their innocence can show you how I feel
And I hear them again
At the end of the day
Im all teary-eyed when we kiss good-bye
Theres nothing I can say
Chorus
Too beautiful for words
A symphony inside of me
Too beautiful for words
I can not take them lightly
Can you hear my silent heart
Verse 3
Must be a million times
Ive tried to express this love of mine
When it goes this deep, when it tastes this sweet
Its not easy to define
Chorus
Too beautiful for words
A symphony inside me
Too beautiful for words
I can not take them lightly
Can you hear my silent heart
