The Bewlay Brothers
And so the story goes they wore the clothes
They said the things to make it seem improbable
The whale of a lie like they hope it was
And the goodmen tomorrow
Had their feet in the wallow
And their heads of brawn were nicer shorn
And how they bought their positions with saccharin and trust
And the world was asleep to our latent fuss
Sighing, the swirl through the streets
Like the crust of the sun
The bewlay brothers
In our wings that bark
Flashing teeth of brass
Standing tall in the dark
Oh, and we were gone
Hanging out with your dwarf men
We were so turned on
By your lack of conclusions
I was stone and he was wax
So he could scream, and still relax, unbelievable
And we frightened the small children away
And our talk was old and dust would flow
Thru our veins and lo! it was midnight
Back at the kitchen door
Like the grim face on the cathedral floor
And the solid book we wrote
Cannot be found today
And it was stalking time for the moonboys
The bewlay brothers
With our backs on the arch
In the devil-may-be-here
But he cant sing about that
Oh, and we were gone
Real cool traders
We were so turned on
You thought we were fakers
Now the dress is hung, the ticket pawned
The factor max that proved the fact
Is melted down
And woven on the edging of my pillow
Now my brother lays upon the rocks
He could be dead, he could be not
He could be you
Hes chameleon, comedian, corinthian and caricature
Shooting-up pie-in-the-sky
The bewlay brothers
In the feeble and the bad
Bewlay brothers
In the blessed and cold
In the crutch-hungry dark
Was where we flayed our mark
Oh, and we were gone
Kings of oblivion
We were so turned on
In the mind-warp pavilion
Lay me place and bake me pie
Im starving for me gravy
Leave my shoes, and door unlocked
I might just slip away, hey
Just for the day, hey!
Hey, please come away, hey!
Just for the day, hey!
Please come away, hey!
Please come away, hey!
Just for the day
Please come away
Please come away
Please come away
Please come away
Away
(away)
Away
Hey

Brothers
Lets get to the point now
Just because weve got the same mum and dad
That dont mean im your keeper
That dont mean I owe anything to you
You dont care for me
And man I dont think that much of you
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
I dont approve of anything you do
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
Cain and abel and me and you
You drove my car when we were young boys
And you tore it up too
You never paid to get it fixed
And you got me beat up a time or two
I know I should forgive and forget
But man I still hold a grudge against you
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
I dont approve of anything you do
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
Cain and abel and me and you
It is as normal as it can be
This sibling rivalry
We should have dropped it at 22
But man I cant stand the things you do
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
Youre always want something from me
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
It was so much fun having you in the family
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
Now that were grown it aint helped nothin? at all
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
On my birthday, please dont bother to call
Cause were brothers brothers brothers
Brothers brothers brothers
Yeah, youre my brother brother brother
Brothers brothers brothers
Yeah, were brothers brothers brothers
Yeah, were brothers brothers brothers
Brothers brothers brothers

Tell It All Brother
Tell it all brother, before we fall
Tell it all brothers and sisters
Tell it all.
How much you're holding back on me
When you say you're giving all?
And in the dungeons of your mind
Who you got chained to the wall?
Tell it all brother, before we fall
Tell it all brothers and sisters
Tell it all.
Did you plant your feet on higher ground
To avoid life's mud and stone?
Did you ever kick a good man
When he was down, just to make yourself feel strong?
Tell it all brother, before we fall
Tell it all brothers and sisters
Tell it all.
Tomorrow just might be too late
Now is the time
To get your jumbled mind straight
And seek a new design.
Did you ever walk for a crippled man
Pretending you were lame?
And what made you think one feeble hand to God
Was gonna make him call your name?
Tell it all brother and sisters
Tell, Tell it all
Tell it all brother, before we fall
Tell it all brothers and sisters, tell
Tell it all brother, before we fall
Tell it all...

Blood Brothers
Maurice white, jon lind, nicky brown & brock walsh
So my friend
Voices from the past reunite at last
Back when we grew up on the streets
The world was at our feet
Do you recall the two of us
How we used th sing when everything
Was new to us
From the time that we were old
Enough to stand
It was you and I together to the end
Oh, what our souls believe we will
Always be
Blood brothers time cant divide
What our hearts have said with a
Drop of red
Blood brothers till the end
Through these years
Time has not been kind to others left behind
These streets where you and I once played
Nothings left today
What happened to the dreams we shared
Do we just go on like it was
Never there
Do I tell you that theres hope beyond
These walls
That to help you Id do anything at all
What our souls believe we will
Always be
Blood brothers time cant divide
What our hearts have said with a
Drop of red
Blood brothers, the bond we made never
Will break
Blood brothers to the end

Fight Or Fall
Brothers here I stand
Spread my wings and take command
The sky he justly planned
The boy become a man
After all this time
I tell myself that im
Not just wasting time
Oh you know Im not that way inclined
Brothers if you hear
Raise your flags and make it clear
There is more to fear
If we wait for another year
After all this time
I tell-a [repeat] myself that im
Just passing through time
After all this time
I tell myself that im
Not just wasting time
Oh you know Im not that way inclined
Brothers fight or fall
Its man for man and one for all
No more can we crawl
Brothers, brothers hear the call
After all this time
I tell myself that im
Not just wasting time
Oh you know Im not that way inclined
Brother brother
Brother brother
Brother fight or fall
Its man for man and one for all
Brother brother
Brother brother
What you want?
We gotta fight for one another!

What 'Brothers' Do You Talk About?
What 'brothers' do you refer to?
Not the ones you annoyed, destroyed
And chased away?
Not the ones you avoided,
When the 'man' said that was okay?
Not the ones you babied and sent to stay,
Confined behind bars to learn about other crimes...
With chances that 'brother' would someday be gay.
What 'brothers' do you talk about?
That are not worthy of your support or praise.
Those 'brothers' are there and may sit on high horses.
But these 'brothers' you say betray.
Instead of seeing it their way.
With unsuccessful attempts to have them branded,
As weak with even temperments you can control.
And no 'brother' I know will allow that to happen...
Again!
Knowing what it is like having that to be done.

Until Sunrise
“A Soldier Tales”
I stand upon this field a watchman
over my brothers who now lay at rest.
And until sunrise here I’ll stand.
Sleep my dear brothers;
Dream pleasantly with
no fear. For I will stand watch
over you all like an angel sent
from heaven. Until sunrise.
Now as the night wind whistles
I hear each of your voices in the
breeze, Each of you my dear
brothers thanking me; for watching
over you all until the sunrise.
But my dear brothers’ rest, for you need
not thank me. In fact I should be thanking you
for you are asleep now, so that I and many
others can be awake. So rest your heads in
your graves knowing that you all did not die in
vane, and until God calls me to my final resting
place. I’ll be your watchman my brothers.
Until Sunrise.
The Best Man I Can Be
[r.l.]
Yeah this is for my brothers in the hood
And the high risers, on the mansions with the maids
We gotta come together, come on yall
Case, ginuwine, tyrese, and me r.l.
Help me sing it fellas, yeah
[case]
Im sitting here alone
Trying to face another day
Gotta stay strong, hmm
To endure this pain
[r.l.]
Im dealing with right now
It flipped my whole life upside down
I dont want your help
I dont need your sympathy, no
[all]
What can a brother do for me?
(see he can you help you up when you are down)
What can a brother do for me?
(he can be your eyes when you cant see)
What can a brother do for me?
(he can help me be the best man I can be)
(oh I can be, I can be, oh I can be, I can be)
He can help me be the best man I can be
(oh yeah, yeah, yeah)
[tyrese]
(be the best man)
I made a big mistake
And Im feeling so ashamed
And I dont want to lose my friendship over it
Ive gotta keep the faith, yes I do
[ginuwine]
Cause Im still your boy, Ive got your back
Thatll never, never, never, never gonna change
So I can just cite the truth
And keep smiling in your face
[all]
What can a brother do for me?
(he can you help you up when you are down)
What can a brother do for me?
(he can be your eyes when you cant see)
What can a brother do for me?
(he can help me be the best man I can be)
(I can be, I can be, oh I can be, I can be)
He can help me be the best man I can be
[tyrese]
I keep struggling but Im trying my best
I got some issues with my own confidence
Lord help me to forgive and forget
Can you please help me to be a better man?
[r.l.]
For the rest of the darkest nights
Shines the brightest sun
I hate the man I used to be
Im better than before

What can a brother do for me?

Alive And Killing
I once knew this boy
Who was in his teens,
A dog tag around his neck
A pair of low waist jeans
A ragged shirt, streaked hair
Branded shoes, the thuggish stare
It all fitted him very well
Yet his darkest secret he would never tell.
There was one little piece
The jigsaw was missing
That one thing that seemed out of place
That one thing that didn't fit in.
He had everything,
Yet he seemed depressed
'Is it your marks? Your studies? '
'Why are you looking so stressed? '
His parents would give him
Everything he needed and more
Yet his wasn’t as bright
As the clothes he wore
He was always missing from class and home alike
No one knew where he went
Except his little brother
He had followed him that day
To see where he went alone
He followed him to a house
He followed him back home
He saw what his brother did
He saw his brothers near death
He knew he had to stop him
He would fight till his final breath
Seven years of mystery
Was uncovered that day
But only his brother knew
When his motionless brother lay
His brother was dead
Dead of drugs
That seventeen year old
Had been dealing with thugs
The brother didn’t reveal
The information he had
He knew his brother wasn’t the only one
What he knew was driving him mad
He was going to do something
About these killing things
Going to take action
Going to spread out his wings
He was only thirteen
What could he do?
Nothing was in his hands
That he knew
Then he decided to take his stand
For his brothers sake and all like him
He knew what power lay in his hands
He knew how he could inspire a change
He knew precisely what he had to do
He walked to his brother’s room
And picked up his pen
And with a firm mind
And an urge to make a difference
He began to write....
Alive and killing.

There's A Dark Cloud Over My Head
There is a dark cloud over my head
With every move i make, every step i take
It keeps following me
Lord you know i want to free
Dark clouds, dark clouds, dark clouds
Now as the rain begins to fall, i feel so small
I'm always getting wet with the rain of prejudice
Look there is a mist of discrimation
And the fog of injustice
Dark clouds, dark clouds, dark clouds hanging over my head
Lord you know i want to be free
It's hard to look through the thickness of the clouds
Standing under the dark clouds the sun never shines
As my eyes glist for a brighter tomorrow
My sisters and brothers are filled with sorrow
Dark clouds, dark clouds, dark clouds
Why do they keep following me
Lord you know i want to be free
This cloud kept many of our people down
This cloud has kept us bound
Our head hanging to the ground
A cloud of sorrow and pain
A cloud of loneiness and despair
Wondering does anyone care
Now as i look beyond the horizon with the telescope
Of my mind
It was fantastic what i've found
If you can look beyond your dark cloud, sorrow and pain
You will see a star shining so near, yet it seems so far
Beyond your dark clouds, there is a galaxy of deterination
There is a star of i am somebody and it's shining
For the whole world to see
Let's load up our spaceship of education
Put our satellite into orbit, let's speed on to culture
Proudness
Gravitation of ignorance will never hold me down
There's no time for malfunction in our dreams
For many years our focus was ecliped
Eclipse we were inferior, eclipse we couldn't make it
Couldn't go to the same school
We can see clearly now my sisters and brothers
Let's walk in the light, let's fuel up with knowledge
Independence, awareness
Yes use the telescope of your mind
The satellite of youe soul
The orbit of your heart
To reach that certain star, no matter how near or far

For the People of East Africa
how can we go on not believing,
how can we turn our heads?
when children are starving
and people are dying...
are we alive or are we dead?
our brothers, our sisters,
we can feel your pain from here.
what can we do and
what can we change...
to see the world through your tears?
how can we see and not know
that what's happening to you...
is a part of us, is in
the very heart of us,
we're responsible, we're due!
our brothers, our sisters,
we can feel your pain from here.
what can we do and
what can we change...
to see the world through your tears?
the family of man so far apart,
we've lost the meaning in our souls.
until we join hearts to hands,
and walk side by side...
we'll never touch and never hold.
our brothers, our sisters,
we can feel your pain from here.
what can we do and
what can we change...
to see the world through your tears?

Christmas Portrait
When we were teenagers
We went through a mean age
We think we know just what you mean
We were typical siblings
With plenty of quibblings
I think we can sing you this scene
Big brothers are supposed to be smart
So how come they act so dumb?
Big brothers are supposed to have feelings
But most of the time they're numb
When we're looking for heroes
We usually find a clown
We're supposed to look up at them
So how come we're looking down?
(*) big brother are supossed to be nice
So how come they act like nerds?
Setting an awful example
Using x-rated words; they're really gross
We diagnosis them right for the local shrink
Big brothers,
Big brothers are not as big as they think
Nag, nag, nag, nag!
Aren't they the worst? the worst!
(**) kid sisters, where do they get all the dumbness from?
She just won't leave alone, always tagging after me
What a bummer, i don't get no privacy
Kid sisters, who do you think baby-sits?
Hey mister, don't you agree it's the pits?
We deserve some kind of loving cup
Kid sisters, when ya gonna grow up?
Oh yeah (yeah) wanna fight? (yeah)
Repeat (*) and (**) at the same time
But that was yesterday! (yesterday)
And today (and today) we can say (we can say)
That as the number ends (as it ends)
We're what every sister and brother should hopefully be
The very best of friends!

He Was My Brother
He was my brother
Five years older than I
He was my brother
Twenty-three Years old the day he died
Freedom writer
They cursed my brother to his face
Go home outsider
This town's gonna be your buryin' place
He was singin' on his knees
An angry mob trailed along
They shot my brother dead
Because he hated what was wrong
He was my brother
Tears can't bnng him back to me
He was my brother
And he died so his brothers could be free
He died so his brothers could be free

Why is there pain in this world?
Why is there pain in this world?
When brothers fight brothers for no reason
Faced with the light of a gun ready to shot down there own
Yet the pain and the suffering never stops people
When the guns go off and children die
Why is there pain in this world?
When family fight when kids are looking on
Yet they never see the pain and suffering that they have caused
Yet when they see it too late time has gone
If only they notice there pain as well
Why is there pain in this world?
When the school bell has gone kids should be happy
Yet in the dark corner lays the bully ready to pound his prey
Yet the victim suffer in pain and silent’s too scared
To tell other what is going on
Why is there pain in this world?
When people are hungry when you or I have enough
Why can’t we help them try and ease the pain we can stop them being hungry
We can ease there pain and stop them from starving
Why can’t you see that when I can?
Why is there pain in this world?
When all we need to do is open are eyes and look
Yet were a nation a world that too blind to notice the pain that does not need to be
So here these words open your eyes and see if you can help.
Pain can be eased if only you believe that you can see.

People Gotta Love Again
Tom Johnston
Windecor Music (BMI)
Wake up everybody
Take a good look around
There's far too many reasons
For all the troubles goin' down.
Jesus is watchin',
And the devil is alive.
Buddha is cryin',
And Allah is mystified.
Brothers killin' brothers,
And our children in the streets.
We gotta change the times
We gotta change the times.
The world is watchin', look at the shape we're in.
There ain't no doubt about it, people gotta love again.
Down on every corner
We got children sellin' dope.
Who's gonna send a message
And try to give 'em hope.
Jesus is watchin',
And the devil is alive.
Buddha is cryin',
And Allah is mystified.
Brothers killin' brothers,
And our children in the streets.
We gotta change the times
We gotta change the times.
The world is watchin', look at the shape we're in.
There ain't no doubt about it, people gotta love again.
Oh what a shame when they try to pretend.
All my brothers and sisters, people gotta love again.
Can't buy love with a paycheck,
It means nothin' to a boy and girl.
You need universal love of all mankind
To change what's wrong with the world.
The world is watchin', look at the shape we're in.
There ain't no doubt about it, people gotta love again.
Oh what a shame when they try to pretend.
All my brothers and sisters, people gotta love again.

Brothers Under The Bridges
Saigon, it was all gone
The same coke machines as the streets I grew on
Down in a mesquite canyon, come walking along the ridge
Me and the brothers under the bridge
Campsites an hours walk from the nearest road or town
Theres too much brush in camp for the chp choppers to touch down
Aint lookin for nothin , I just want to live
Me and the brothers under the bridge
Come the santa anas and man that dry brush would light
Jimmy devon got burned up in his own campfire one winter night
We buried his body in the white stone high up on the ridge
Me and the brothers under the bridge
I had enough of the town oh and the straight life
Aint careful you end up on the wrong end of someones knife
Now I want no trouble and I aint got none to give
Me and the brothers under the bridge
Well I shipped home back in 72
And you know you were just a beautiul light in your moms dark eyes of
Blue
I stepped out on the tarmac, we were just kids
Me and the brothers under the bridge
Come veterans day I sat on the stand in my dress blues
I held your mothers hand, and they passed with the red, white and
Blue
One minute youre right there, and somethin slips.............

Battling Racism
I have wanted to tell my story of Sgt. Vigay.
When we first met, him claiming cool,
and get's Hell out's -is way.
I never felt such hatred, prejudice, like that first day.
That was my first moments, But I swore, I'd make him pay.
It started, claiming he'd whip's my body,
Like's moppen's the hall.
He'd whip's this I'd'ho white boy, in Bassit Ball
There he stood, six three or four, big and frighting.
But I mouthed, moe foe, have you ever seen?
I'd'ho white greased lighting?
The hurts and the banging, I knew what I'd get.
All the money I had, but what the Heck?
I placed life, death, on that six dollor bet.
Battling racisim, I bet they're still wondering even yet?
The brothers all cheered, for their man six feet four.
The fight was finally over 21,24,
It ended there? I had thought on that dirt room floor.
But it turned out mine was the higher score!
The fighting then started, those brother's, never let it end.
They encouraged their Chicago Projects, Brother, Friend.
No matter what ever I would do, No matter how hard, or Hurt
I tried?
They claimed, Vigay, with -is one hand tie-.
I ask him, thirty forty times, couldn't he let
this game end.
But did you ever notice? Brothers and Racisim seldom,
never, bend?
That was the way it was, trash talking, racisim
without end.
So I had to fight in the name of sports.
Baseball, swimming, fighting on the run.
Vigay and his brothers, To pick on their boy was fun.
Never had so many places that hurt!
But at every turn I won.
Then the day, that showed how much? They, I had started to hate.
That day, I sealed my one fate.
I made a knowing fatal mistake.
I knew in their hearts hate, and one more contest?
My mouth and heart said retard wha- the -ell was chest?
I had taken their racsim,
I'd whip their ass in chest.
Well I'd mouthed moe foe, retard, ugly, dumb,
My tounge never rest.
I poked fun, yo mother be fat, and you and yo dadda both had
sps.
Yo home mamma fat and ugly married to your chickenn ss..
Well one of the brothers said, No, Man! It's called chess!
Not chest!
In this contest Vigay. No man can beat!
He b- Da- best.
I showed now how I had learned to hate!
Boasting In Idaho, moe foe, that in this game I took state.
So put yo money, wher'd yo mouth was, and fool
For this game you be on time.
I watched as the brothers emptied wallets, pockets,
To the last dime.
But, then and there I stopped, offered peace.
Said I was tired of fighting, give me a break, and time?
But I had pushed to far, they wanted my hide
Said nope, and together your mine.
I had acted to cock sure.
If I lost this game my life,
Would never indure.
So there the fight for my life.
Not caring now what was Wrong, or Right?
With a cold heart I said you's black!
So's I'll's take white!
How in this game? I was tired, I was bored.
My attack in chess, flashing tongue, were swords.
Because in the beginning, I had tried to be kind,
And now surprised, at how much hate,
How it had been planted in my mind.
So I played this game seven to one.
I moved rook, then a pawn,
I put black on the run.
I showed what their game had done?
What it was like to hate!
I rose slamming my qween an, check, moe foe, mate!
I turned and picked up three hundred and twenty one.
Then I looked and said this game is boring.
I wanted some fun!
Who wanted to play a new game, of one on one?
To Martin Nelson Vigay this time, I'm chewing some.
I was mad, shaking all the way too my toes.
They saw my heart, no longer cool, but now
Ice cold froze.
They saw my desire, and hurt, in my eyes
I guess this time it was there, for they never lie!
Well six of them brothers all turned and run.
At last, Vigay alone, for a little one on one.
He knew with him I was moppen the floor.
To make damn sure, Click, I locked the door.
I had him alone and scared for the first time.
The blood and the floor was going to be his, not mine.
For I had in my hand a 36 inch wrench.
I wanted to put him over the pearl white fence.
But he raised a hand saying he was sorry, and what?
That he'd been wrong.
He saw my desire and hurt, my anger still so strong.
He said in this game, he'd been pushed to long.
He ask for forgiving, and wispered, he'd been wrong.
I shouted, never, would I forgive.
But dropping that wrench, I chose, I let him live.
I said Vigay! In Idaho I had never been taught
this kind of hate.
Because in life we must take action!
We must choose, create our own fate.
Then later on, few weeks and the day had turned to night.
Three of the brothers cornerd me, saying now were going to fight!
I looked for a door, But there stood Vigay?
I thought well shit?
Stepping towards his brothers, He just said hey!
He dropped the first one with a fist.
Saying Clyde's What's you's ya going's to do's
You's get's ones' But I get's two's
I'm asking, Have you ever fought for your freedom, or life?
I used everything trying to stop racisim and strife.
There I fought for freedom, and just so much more.
My eyes black, face split lips, body aching, sore.
But them three men, down at last on the floor.
Leaning over them Vigay stated.
Hate's and Racisim's don't's You's do's No's More's
Then he stepped over and jerked it open
Stepped a-side saying Please, Clyde's
Please You's first thrugh da door
I hopes yous' ok, and at me not to sore?
As we walked away that big arm rested, helping holding,
me up, there on my shoulder.
He must have said thirty or forty times.
That this day was the end.
And he wasn't let nobody's crap on me or him's again.
Because he now understood, , , , whom was -is friends.

Brave Boys Are They!
Heavily falls the rain;
Wild are the breezes tonight;
But 'neath the roof, the hours as they fly,
Are happy and calm and bright.
Gathering round our fireside,
Tho' it be summer time,
We sit and talk of brothers abroad
Forgetting the midnight chime
Brave boys are they!
Gone at their country's call;
And yet, and yet we cannot forget
That many brave boys must fall.
Under the homestead roof
Nestled so cozy and warm,
While soldiers sleep, with little or naught
To shelter them from the storm.
Resting on grassy couches,
Pillow'd on hillocks damp;
Of martial fare, how little we know,
Till brothers are in the camp.
Thinking no less of them,
Loving our country the more,
We sent them forth to fight for the flag
Their fathers before them bore.
Though the great tear drops started,
This was our parting trust:
God bless you, boys! we'll welcome you home
When rebels are in the dust.
May the bright wings of love
Guard them wherever they roam;
The time has come when brothers must fight,
And sisters must pray at home.
Oh! The dread field of battle!
Soon to be strewn with graves!
If brothers fall, then bury them where
Our banner in triumph waves.
