Adonais

He breaks the spell
Still young and words from
Out this dream of life and leaves us
Sleeping stone rack
Lying consumed by
Phantom pains
And displays of greed
He slips from out this shadowland
And pain where heads grow soft and grey
And age destroys all hope
And spirits crush the men
And hide away
The wordless watch the soft sky smile
And breathless hear the low wind sigh
What death will join
No more let love divide
"dream yourself awake" he calls
"an eternity awaits us all
Open your eyes and be with me
Be with me..."
He breaks the chains
So young disspells
The hateful shades
Of treacherous time
Leaves us sleeping
Tortured mute
Devoured by ghosts
And dreams of life
Slips through ties
And dust to be the world
We dream he lives apart
But everything we feel
The young and beautiful
And brave of heart
The wordless watch the soft sky smile
And breathless hear the low wind sigh
What death will join
No more let love divide
"dream yourself awake" he calls
"an eternity awaits us all
Open your eyes and be with me
Be with me..."
"dream yourself awake" he calls
"an eternity awaits us all
Open your eyes and be with me
Be with me forever...

You Dont Know What Love Is

Ah hoo. oh, yeah yeah yeah yeah.
Oh ooh oh oh.
Last night I saw you as I stood in the rain
Brought me right back to that feeling again.
I tried to hide the tears in my eyes
But you didnt see as you walked on by.
Tried to forget ya, I tried to move on.
But the deeper Im feeling, the harder I fall.
Nothing else matters at all. let me tell you.
You dont know what love is till you lose it.
You dont know what youve got till it slips away.
Leaves you alone in the dark and takes you and tears you apart.
You dont know what love is till it breaks your heart.
Till it breaks your heart.
Sometimes I think back when our love was new.
The crazy things that we used to do.
How could love thats so right turn to something so wrong
Still cant believe that youre really gone.
Wish I could stop all these thoughts in my head
Wish I could take back the words that I said
Its a lesson Ill never forget. let me tell you.
You dont know what love is till you lose it.
You dont know what youve got till it slips away.
Leaves you alone in the dark. takes you and tears you apart.
You dont know what love is till it breaks your heart.
Ooh ooh. yeh.
Love has no season, no beginning nor end.
No rhyme or reason, to the way the story ends.
No way of knowing how a broken heart mends.
Still we keep fallin time and time again.
You dont know what love is till you lose it.
You dont know what youve got till it slips away.
Leaves you alone in the dark. takes you and tears you apart.
You dont know what love is till it breaks your heart.
Till it breaks your heart. ah ooh. till it breaks your heart.

I shall make some slips no doubt, and shall perhaps talk in second-hand language, but not for long: the living image of what I saw will always be with me and will always correct and guide me. Oh, I am full of courage and freshness, and I will go on and on if it were for a thousand years! Do you know, at first I meant to conceal the fact that I corrupted them, but that was a mistake — that was my first mistake! But truth whispered to me that I was lying, and preserved me and corrected me. But how stablish paradise — I don't know, because I do not know how to put it into words. After my dream I lost command of words. All the chief words, anyway, the most necessary ones. But never mind, I shall go and I shall keep talking, I won't leave off, for anyway I have seen it with my own eyes, though I cannot describe what I saw. But the scoffers do not understand that. It was a dream, they say, delirium, hallucination. Oh! As though that meant so much! And they are so proud! A dream! What is a dream? And is not our life a dream? I will say more. Suppose that this paradise will never come to pass (that I understand), yet I shall go on preaching it. And yet how simple it is: in one day, in one hour everything could be arranged at once!

Stone Cold

Every night I have the same old dream
bout you and me and whats in between
So many changes, so many lies
Try to run, try to hide
>from everything that I feel inside
But I cant escape you or your frozen eyes...
Searching in the darkness
Fading out of sight
Love was here and gone like a thief in the night...
Stone cold...
And I thought I knew you so well
Stone cold
Cant break away from your spell
Another dark and empty night
If I was wrong I wanna make it right
But you are so distant, so far away
Your words like ice fall on the ground
Breaking the silence without a sound
Oh familiar strangers with nothing to say
Searching in the darkness
Fading out of sight
Love was here and gone like a thief in the night...
Stone cold...
And I thought I knew you so well...
Stone cold
Cant break away from your spell...
You leave me stone cold
Searching in the darkness
Fading out of sight
Love was here and gone like a thief in the night...
Stone cold...
And I thought I knew you so well
Stone cold
Cant break away from your spell
Youre stone cold...yeah
I cant break away from your spell
Stone cold...baby
I thought I knew you so well
Youre stone cold...ice cold
Cant break away from your spell
(you put me in the deep freeze)
(oh baby dont you leave me)
(stone...cold, your leavin me cold)
Stone cold...i thought I knew you so well
Stone cold...cant break away from your spell
Repeat til fade

Dream

I dream a dream, a vivid dream,
A young and silent moonlit night,
A couple is lying by a stream,
The man is sleeping on her right.

Why Flowers, Fruits and Butterflies?
Where does the meaning truly lies?
What message is there in this dream?
Who is the couple, beneath the beam?

Seeing The Young Sometimes Pains

SEEING THE YOUNG SOMETIMES PAINS

Seeing the young sometimes pains
Their lightness their eagerness
The ease of their laughter
How they effortlessly move
In a world they are making their own.

Seeing the young pains
And these old bones ache
At all the life
Never to be had again.

Sleeping To Dream (Live @ Java Joes - 06.27.02)

words by jason mraz
music by jason mraz & peter stuart
I'm dreaming of sleeping next to you I'm feeling like a lost little boy in a brand new town
I'm counting my sheep and each one that passes is another dream to ashes
and they all fall down.
As I lay me down tonight,
I close my eyes and what a beautiful sight
I'm sleeping to dream about you
I'm so tired of having to live without you
So I'm sleeping to dream about you and I'm so tired
I found myself in the riches (Your eyes, your lips, your hair.) Well you were everywhere
But I woke up in the ditches. I hit the light and I thought you might be here
but you were nowhere. You were nowhere at home.
As I lay me back to sleep
Lord I pray that I can keep
Sleeping to dream about you
I'm so tired of having to live without you
So I'm sleeping to dream about you and I'm so tired
(It's just a little a lullaby to keep myself from crying myself to sleep at night.)
Sleeping to dream about you
I'm so tired of having to live without you
So I'm sleeping to dream about you and I'm so tired

A Simple Warning

You stare at it as if you've never
seen it. You eat it up like it's the
best thing you've ever eaten. Your
life is consumed with anger. You spend
your days eaten up with greed and lies.
It feels like home
It fits like a glove
to your life but this isn't
the way it was meant to bear
Yet you've known no different.
You are fed lies told greed is a
new lifestyle. Don't get fooled by the lies.
Greed will eat you up
Lies will tear you apart.
How do you survive. I cannot say but
don't fall into the path of lies and greed
for it will destroy you

Pains Of Predjudice

I have experienced pain
Undeserving and vivid pain
Pains of rejection and pains prejudice
Pain when my rights were wronged.
Pains while others endure undue harm

My heart aches, my mind bruised
From pains of emotional abuse.
I have seen and experienced it
Read about it, still living it.
Pains of prejudice.

A Campfire Song

[ natalie merchant ]
[ other voice: michael stipe ]
A lie to say, o my mountain has coal veins and beds to dig.
500 men with axes and they all dig for me.
A lie to say, o my river where many fish do swim,
Half of the catch is mine when you haul your nets in.
Never will he believe that his greed is a blinding ray.
No devil or redeemer will cheat him.
Hell take his gold to where hes lying cold.
A lie to say, o my mine gave a diamond as big as a fist.
But with every gem in his pocket, the jewels he has missed.
A lie to say, o my garden is growing taller by the day.
He only eats the best and tosses the rest away.
Never will he be believe that his greed is a blinding ray.
No devil or redeemer can cheat him.
Hell take his gold to where hes lying cold.
Six deep in the grave.
Something is out of reach
Something he wanted
Something is out of reach
Hes being taunted
Something is out of reach
That he can beg or steal nor can he buy
His oldest pain
And fear in life
Therell not be time
His oldest pain
And fear in life
Therell not be time
A lie to say o my forest has trees that block the sun
And when I cut them down I dont answer to anyone.
No, no, never will he believe that his greed is a blinding ray
No devil or redeemer can cheat him.
Hell take his gold where hes lying cold.

To Dream a Dream

To dream a dream-
a deep day dream-
living through my day dreams:
I'm forever seeming, falling, sleeping,
spending hours lying, dreaming;
(dying slowly, not realizing)
sleeping deeper not realizing
as death arrives on his steed,
a black steed, uncompromising,
to perform a deed
(Not true nor false): but realization
sleeps with speed;
so slow the past, with realization,
becomes the dream.
As I'm forever drowning, dreaming, sleeping,
drowning in my day dreams;
such deep day dreams
can't dream to dream.

Song of Painful Plea 1

Who adulterated our kerosene?
Where are they? Where do they live?
Unimaginable pains I have seen
For their greed I live in grief
Broken hearts and scars
Fills every where like cars
Aftermath of deceptive greed

We did no wrong
We hurt no one,
As innocent as the babe
And fresher than the day

Your hearts are charcoals and
Your conscience as dead as Latin
Let thy evil pursue thee like a cat
After a mouse, thou shall experience
The pains you’ve inflicted as boomerang

Young ones kept captives of pricking pain,
Praying for freedom by the day
Old ones gnash fragile teeth and say;
“In all where’s the illusive gain?
We are your sisters, wives and mothers”

Who adulterated our kerosene?
Where are they? Where do they live?
Are they the visionless touts in the crowded street?
Or the greedy man
Standing at the podium, in black suit?

Looking At The Rain

Looking at the rain
Feeling the pain
Of love lost running though
My brain
Looking at the wind
Watching it spin
The leaves along the street
You win
Waiting for a line to fall
Telling you its all a big mistake
Looking at a face
So out of place
Inside that picture frame
Of lace
Looking at the wall
Wishing youd call
And tell me youre ok
Thats all
Wishing this was all a dream
And Id find you sleeping when I wake
Looking at the trees
So ill at ease
From sleep that will not come
Thats me
Looking at the dawn
Knowing its wrong
Still thinking of your love
Thats gone
Wishing this was all a dream
And Id find you sleeping when I wake
Looking at the rain
Feeling the pain
Of love lost running though
My brain
Looking at the wind
Watching it spin
The leaves along the street
You win
Waiting for a line to fall
Telling you its all a big mistake
But the words wont come
I know Id feel the same
Looking at the rain

The gift of words

Some words I swallowed
Like pots of rain
Their beauty quenched the thirst

Some words I swallowed
Like fire and pain
Their bitterness left me cursed

Some words I wrote
In anger and haste
And spat them on the palm

Some words I sought
To heal be chaste
To find the peace be calm

Some words I followed
Like footprints lost
In dying piles of leaves

Some words I followed
Like benevolent host
Once he really receives

Both the gift of words
Right from the lips
That used to sing the poles

And the gift of words
When the mind slips
Into the broken holes

Goodnight

Sleepless nights don't bother me at all
If dawn comes I won't worry
Something deep inside keeps me awake
I wish that you were here right beside me, woah
I recall when I was very young
And could not go to sleep
My father sang me songs to make me tired
But memories don't make it easier
So goodnight wherever you are sleeping
And I hope that if you dream you dream of me
So goodnight wherever you are sleeping
And I hope that if you dream you dream of me
Now I lie awake and it's no fun
Tossing and turning
I'd call you if it weren't so very late
But telephones don't bring you close to me, woah
I recall the times we stayed up late
Wide awake but still dreaming
There was nothing on this earth could make me tired
But memories don't make it easier
So goodnight wherever you are sleeping
And I hope that if you dream, if you dream, you dream of me
So goodnight wherever you are sleeping
And I hope that if you dream, if you dream, you dream of me
And I hope that if you dream you dream of me

Greed

“Greed”

GREED
IT IS SUCH A TERRIBLE THING
HEARTS IT TEARS AND MAKES THEM BLEED
AT TIMES IT BURNS SO BAD WHAT A STING
SO MUCH EVIL IT NEVER LEADS TO A GOOD DEED
GREED SUCH A VICIOUS THING

GREED
IT DESTROYS MARRIGES AND LIFES
IT DESTROYS WHAT WE WORK SO HARD TO EARN
IN CASES LEAVING MEN WITHOUT WIFES
BUT YET WE NEVER LEARN
TRUE TOO WIFES WITHOUT MEN
THE WORST PAIN UNDER THIS HAT
ARE CHILDREN THAT STAY WITH NONE OF THEM
SO UNDERSTAND WHAT A BAD BREED
THIS MONSTER IS, THIS MONSTER THAT
WE OFTEN CALL GREED

GREED
IT MAKES FREINDS INTO FOES
IT TURNS BROTHERS AGAINST BROTHERS
IT BRINGS SO MUCH WOES
IT TURNS MOTHERS AGAINST FATHERS
AND STILL WE DONT CONTROL THE NEED
AND TRY AND GET RID OF THIS BEAST
THIS BEAST WE CALL GREED

GREED
IT LEAVES FAMILIES HOMELESS
AND CHILDREN WITHOUT HOPES AND DREAMS
IT MAKES ALL FEEL LIKE SO MUCH LESS
IT BREAKS HEARTS AND MANY TEAMS
THIS TEAMS THAT AT MANY TIMES
WERE BEATIFUL AND HAPPY FAMILIES
BUT DUE TO GREED, FELL FOR THEIR CRIMES
SUCH A BAD CREATURE THAT LIKES TO FEED
ON THE HORRIBLE AND TRAGIC
FOOD WE CALL GREED.
SO PLEASE UNITE AND PRAY
THAT YOU CAN HAVE THE MAGIC
AND HOPE YOU’LL NEVER SEE THE DAY
THAT YOU BECOME THIS THING
CALLED GREED.
GOD BLESS.

Matching Pair Dual Vilanelle

Upon this man I’ve cast my spell.
He is forever bound to me
I know he loves me I can tell.

He knows he loves me, loves me well
he also knows that I am free.
Upon this man I’ve cast my spell.

I have a dream as all men do.
A dream which keeps despair at bay
I live in hopes it will come true.

My dream is old yet ever new
I can review it every day.
I have a dream as all men do

My heart beat rings out like a bell
which he must hear assuredly
I know he loves me I can tell.

Perhaps in time he will dispel
the fears which haunt him constantly.
Upon this man I’ve cast my spell.

I have but one dream I pursue
to while the lonely hours away
I have a dream as all men do

Then with three words my fears he’ll quell.
Then I will wed him willingly.
I know he loves me I can tell

Why is it that a maid can’t tell
the man she loves so openly
Upon this man I’ve cast my spell
I know he loves me I can tell.

A dream is better shared by two
but you don’t even look my way
I live in hope it will come true.

I know I am in love with you
and yet I am afraid to say.
I have a dream as all men do
I live in hope it will come true

The World Consumes Us

We invest in re-cycling
yet, fail to recycle hate for luv,
can't even undo our evil deeds

we pride ourselves as consumers but the converse is true
we are consumed by greed
the more we want
the more energy we waste
then we die, our energy lay to waste

the world consumes us, like we do to food
it breeds greed and plants hatred,
it takes from us and never give back
like loyal servants in bondage, we oblige
nothing we accumulate permanently belongs to us

as we travel for success we forget to be human
we erase creation and become creators
we are consumed by what to be than the love we should share
in our race to be consumed
we striped naked our being and sold God's love

It pains me to love you

It pains me to love you
~
These feelings forever change
From admiration to love to hate
What words I have spoken
To leave you without comfort
That you are unable to speak to me
To look me in the eye
Am I to apologise for my words
For saying you are beautiful
And forgive your lies
In saying you did not mind
As any would be happy to hear them
It pains my heart to love you
It cuts my soul to hate you
That I am unsure of any feeling
Each sway and twist of a thought
Leaves me further at a loss
How each feeling changes
To forget about you for a moment
Then be caught in a dream of you
I wish I could take back my words
And leave you in an innocence
Of my love, my admiration
And how I hate to hate you

An Old Man Medicates His Pains Away

AN OLD MAN MEDICATES HIS PAINS AWAY

An old man medicates his pains away
He wants to live in his mind
As if his body can be temporarily forgotten-
He tries to be as he once was
Easy in the skin of himself -

But the pains the pains the pains
They come from different directions
They interrupt they remind they dismay
The pains the pains
They may go away for a time
But they don’t forget to sharpen again-

An old man does not want to think of his body as his enemy
He is no pure mind and does not dream to be
But the pains
When so many come at once
And when no medication can really put a stop to them-
They will defeat him -

Drugged into restless sleep
He will not be able to die without them.
