The Road home

As I drove through the day ,I thumbed through the past , remembering the good times and the bad times ,the highway
And the back roads, began to haunt me ,with places, that I left behind ,only Ghosts now ,the houses
Boarded up,silent now, where I remembered life, and sound ,strange feeling going back to places that I left behind,a feeling of calm closure ,as I drank from the cold spring, I could feel the cool wind whispering peace ,and the streams flowing time ,as I drove away from that cold mountain valley spring, ,the evening stars began to shine the twilight was setting in,and I began the road home

Rain on Route-66

The rain was pouring down
On the road as we drove along
And as we drove we whistled
That cheerful Route-66 song

Everything sparkled and glistened
As down the wet road we rode
Enjoying the highway countryside
As the landscape quickly flowed

From Chicago to Los Angeles
This highway had been named
In the year nineteen-twenty six
It was a road that gathered fame

A need to connect rural and urban
This highway definitely did the trick
Now it’s become historic
To take the drive is quite a kick

So much to see along the way
It will bring to you a smile
So take the time and cruise along
Put aside everything for awhile

And as you sail along, folks
Think of how it began awhile back
Keep your cameras ready
Amazing pictures you’ll want to snap!

I Just Drove By

I always go the other way
But my car drove me down today
To a little house on the older side of town
Back when things were never hard
I used to play there in that yard
And I just drove by to see if things had changed
Cokes were just a nickel then
And across the street at the five and ten
A lot of things were cheap and square and strange
And the life we had might have been
But it was one we loved believing in
And I just drove by to see if things had changed
I wondered now
If love is still the way it was back then
I need to know
That life is still a place worth living in
There it is, just like it was
A house where there was always love
I just drove by to see if things had changed
In a world thats seen its better days
Its good to know some things remain
The same, though standing still is not times way
Take to heart while in its spring
That love is just a fragile thing
I just drove by to see if things had changed

Refuge Of The Roads

I met a friend of spirit
He drank and womanized
And I sat before his sanity
I was holding back from crying
He saw my complications
And he mirrored me back simplified
And we laughed how our perfection
Would always be denied
Heart and humor and humility
He said will lighten up your heavy load
I left him for the refuge of the roads
I fell in with some drifters
Cast upon a beachtown
Winn dixie cold cuts and highway hand me downs
And I wound up fixing dinner
For them and boston jim
I well up with affection
Thinking back down the roads to then
The nets were overflowing
In the gulf of mexico
They were overflowing in the refuge of the roads
There was spring along the ditches
There were good times in the cities
Oh, radiant happiness
It was all so light and easy
Till I started analyzing
And I brought on my old ways
A thunderhead of judgment was
Gathering in my gaze
And it made most people nervous
They just didnt want to know
What I was seeing in the refuge of the roads
I pulled off into a forest
Crickets clicking in the ferns
Like a wheel of fortune
I heard my fate turn, turn turn
And I went running down a white sand road
I was running like a white-assed deer
Running to lose the blues
To the innocence in here
These are the clouds of michelangelo
Muscular with gods and sungold
Shine on your witness in the refuge of the roads
In a highway service station
Over the month of june
Was a photograph of the earth
Taken coming back from the moon
And you couldnt see a city
On that marbled bowling ball
Or a forest or a highway
Or me here least of all
You couldnt see these cold water restrooms
Or this baggage overload
Westbound and rolling taking refuge in the roads

The Rising Sun

Do you just drift away
shattered with a empty emotion
from feeling's of the past
promise's that wouldn't stay
now they are all gone
you got no place left to go

So you take a ride
away from the rising sun
leaving everything behind
searching for things out there
that you couldn't find
did the good time's last
out there on the run

Lost inside the mirror of illusion
of everything forgotten and abused
was it a safe place for you to hide
away from the pain and confusion
beaten down and used
did it ever escape your mind

She just stared out the window
and said I've said again and again
time after time
no, the pain never escaped my mind
as fast as I could drive
as far as I could hide
I looked beside me
and confusion was riding by my side

So I turned around
my back to the calling moon
and I drove back toward the sun
but here in the dark I wasn't sure
where everything had gone
and as easy as I drifted away
in the winds of yesterday
against the wind
it was harder that way

But I fought on to travel the miles
back to where we once stood
feeling crazy that I was hoping
you would still be standing at the crossroads
where that canyon between where things
changed to not so good
as I crested that mountain
of going back
I feared that I have lost the way
nothing looked the same

And then spreading across the horizon
melting over the Eastern sky
the sun began to rise
and there you were
no confusion, no illusion
there you were
this time with the rising sun

Run, Run, Run

I was sitting in the field, feeling the grass.
Counting the stars as they come out.
Feeling (feeling) the breeze, (feeling the breeze)
Feeling (feeling) the spring. (feeling the spring)
Suddenly I noticed there wasnt light anymore.
Run, run, run, run, run to the light,
Run, run, run, run, run for your life.
I tumbled on roots, stumbled on stones.
Lost my marbles, stepped on my glasses.
Feeling (feeling) the air, (feeling the air)
Feeling (feeling) the wind. (feeling the wind)
Suddenly I noticed it wasnt fun anymore.
Run, run, run, run, run towards the light,
Run, run, run, run, run for your life.
I came out of the darkness into the house,
The lights were left on but nobody around.
Feeling (feeling) the room, (feeling the room)
Feeling (feeling) the space. (feeling the space)
Suddenly I noticed it wasnt spring anymore.
Run, run, run, run, run through your life,
Run, run, run, run, run for your life.

Over Dose

As i got into the van i smelled weed
sweet weed the one thing i craved
as my best friend looked at me
she took 3 hits and passed it to me
i took a look at it and as i took a hit
i began to smile
the wanting for it was gone
with every hit i could feel my troubles leaving
we passed it around till it was done
then we went to the store and bought a 40
as me and my friend passed it back and forth
the horrible taste sat in my mouth
once again i craved weed
she rolled another and passed it back
i took more hits ever time
i got a little sick but kept going
i drank more too
the next day was the same
we smoked 5 joints
drank a whole bottle of whine
and drank some beer
the next day was the same
except the second night i did it
no matter how much i tried
i couldnt cry
even though the feeling was there
as my friend watched me get sick
from the over dose
i closed my eyes
i remember crying make it stop
and her light voice saying its ok
you will be fine i promise
when i look back on those nights
i wish it would have killed me some times
but that was last weekend so the past
is the past and theres always other days.

Face To Face

Anderson/squire/howe/white/sherwood/khoroshev
Here we are trying to mend all the broken hearts
In a world where the pain is the fear
Aint no doubt theres a method to madness here
Set your clock to the start of a brand new year
Shine your heart to the universe and get the news
Not alone never have been, never will be
See the truth, not to mention the promise made
See them all, see them all high on judar rhythm
We began at the very first spring
How the promise will come when the promise is made
We will sing at the very first spring
That the promise will come when the promise is made
Promise is made, promise is made
Shake me up, take me up
Face to face
Lift me up, shake me up
Face to face
Make me real, make me longing to see you smile
Shall we dancing, shall we be the dancing down under
In this life of lives, are we ready to take the chance
Moving to the rhythm, here at last to
Believe
To believe
We began at the first real spring
How the promise will come when the promise is made
We will sing at the very first spring
That the promise will come when the promise is made
We began at the first real spring - ya
We will sing at the very first spring - ya
We began at the first real spring
We will sing at the very first spring
How the promise will come when the promise is made
Promise is made, promise is made
We began at the first real spring

That Lonely Spring Back Home

what i can bring you
is good news
it is like a fresh flower
from Beijing
it has a unique promise
that it
will never change
it is beauty and
strangeness
it is this feeling of loss
this tragedy of having to
leave and
be back again
to your senses
when all strange places
are not at all strange
but imbued with
all that sameness of rocks
and cities
and dust and bushes

everywhere you go
there is only you and there is
nothing
no one else
that suffers for you

it is the universality that finally
burdens you
with
i have nowhere to hide
it is the same face again that greets
you where
you left that last step
and you remember
that old feeling
that you want to discard
but here it
rises again
like spring of water
wetting your face
with
its lonesome
squirt

Cold, Cold Heart

Suddenly, you get a crazy feeling
Then in harmony
I wont be trading places
Now youre history,
Forget the time I let you play
Your mystery n I dont know
Happy from the start
Then ripped and torn apart
Looking for a place within your heart
Cold, cold heart
Not like the stars that shine so bright
Cold, cold heart of mine
Dont you remember
Cold, cold heart of mine
Close to me youre taking out the boy in me
Your chemistry
Frightens all the life from me
Your honesty
Sometimes aint so good
For your mystery n I dont know
Happy from the start
Then ripped and torn apart
Looking for a place within your heart
Cold, cold heart
Not like the stars that shine so bright
Cold, cold heart of mine
Dont you remember
Cold, cold heart
Cold, cold heart of mine
Loves for nothing but you try to get much more
Looking for something you never had before
The words left unspoken
Just walked right out the door for evermore
For evermore
The magic that love brings
The magic, oh,
That lights the stars so bright
Shine so bright
Yeah, gonna tell the world I love her
Gonna tell the world I love her
Cold, cold heart of mine
Dont you remember
Cold, cold heart
Shine so bright
Cold, cold heart of mine
Dont you remember
Cold, cold heart, yeah

The Way

THEY MADE UP THEIR MINDS
AND THEY STARTED PACKING

THEY LEFT BEFORE THE SUN CAME UP THAT DAY

AN EXIT TO ETERNAL SUMMER SLACKING

BUT WHERE WERE THEY GOING WITHOUT EVEN

KNOWING THE WAY?

THEY DRANK UP THE WINE

AND THEY GOT TO TALKING

THEY NOW HAD MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO SAY

WHEN THE CAR BROKE DOWN THEY STARTED WALKING

WHERE WERE THEY GOING WITHOUT EVEN

KNOWING THE WAY?

ANYONE CAN SEE THE ROAD THAT THEY WALK ON

IS PAVED WITH GOLD

IT'S ALWAYS SUMMER

THEY'LL NEVER GET COLD

THEY'LL NEVER GET HUNGRY

THEY'LL NEVER GET OLD AND GREY

YOU CAN SEE THEIR SHADOW

WANDERING OFF SOMEWHERE

THEY WON'T MAKE IT HOME

BUT THEY DON'T REALLY CARE

THEY WANTED THE HIGHWAY

THEY'RE HAPPIER THERE TODAY

THEIR CHILDREN WOKE UP

AND THEY COULDN'T FIND THEM

THEY LEFT BEFORE THE SUN CAME UP THAT DAY

THEY JUST DROVE OFF AND LEFT IT ALL BEHIND'EM

BUT WHERE THEY GOING WITHOUT EVEN

KNOWING THE WAY?

Remembering Golden Bells

Ruined and ill—a man of two score;

Pretty and guileless—a girl of three.

Not a boy—but still better than nothing:

To soothe one’s feeling—from time to time a kiss!

There came a day—they suddenly took her from me;

Her soul’s shadow wandered I know not where.

And when I remember how just at the time she died

She lisped strange sounds, beginning to learn to talk,

Then I know that the ties of flesh and blood

Only bind us to a load of grief and sorrow.

At last, by thinking of the time before she was born,

By thought and reason I drove the pain away.

Since my heart forgot her, many days have passed

And three times winter has changed to spring.

This morning, for a little, the old grief came back,

Because, in the road, I met her foster-nurse

January Treat

The mid January day began clear and bright
To the Delaware Bay we took our flight
Down to the shores of Fortescue
With it’s sky and sea of sparkling crystal blue
Walked on the beach, brisk and cold
Collected sea glass, tumbled and rolled
In the air seagulls cry
How fast the time passed by
Left for home before fast falling night
A Blue Heron took it’s homeward flight
The day ended with a surprise
Hundreds of Robins flew before our eyes
In a field they began to sing
“We just arrived to welcome Spring! ”

Left Alone To Self Examine And Heal

When I was chased away,
From all of my hiding places...
I began to see,
My masks on so many faces.
I began to see,
Many adorning my old insecurities.
And I reflected on each step it took,
To achieve my release.
I was left alone to self examine and heal.

Pretty Pathetic

You should've heard me sobbing as I drove home that night,
Got in the bed and stayed there, for days I just layed there,
having been permanently changed but we wont get into that now,
lets take it from the start.
You should've seen me smiling, just like the world was mine,
she used to call me baby softly sometimes.
Well if I dwell on those days too long I feel like my life is over,
and thats no good so lets move on.
To the part where I began to sense her distance I barely can hold on tighter,
and that makes it worse, how am I supposed to take it when she says
"This is something I'm going through, its got nothing to do with you".
I had a special evening all planned out desperately determined to reignite
some spark between us she had to feel something for me,
a love as strong as ours doesnt just go away,
you cant just turn it off, unless she was lying all those times,
but I dont think so I really dont think so, the way she used to look at me,
made me a thousand feet high, the meaning of the word cool,
not the same geek who fumbled with his words that night, the ugliest night.
I sed sum pretty awkward things I got the feeling she felt sorry for me,
I shouldve seen it was hopeless an left it alone, but I had to go on embarassing myself,
I miss what we had I need you so badly,
I miss what we had I need you so badly,
I miss what we had I need you so badly,
I miss what we had I need you so badly.
I must of sounded pretty pathetic I know,
and thats why I dont blame her for what she sed,
listen to her rambling
"we dont know each other that well, but you're so easy to talk to,
I feel I can tell you almost anything,
I hope I havent put you off, I have a tendancy to do that.
Why dont i just be quiet?

Prioritized Not Disguised

From the beginning of his leadership,
They began a campaign to see him defeated.
From the moment his brilliance began to shine,
They began an advocating of hatred in the minds.
Hoping a decline would blind those...
Supporting and standing behind him.

From the time they believed themselves,
Better mentally equipped...
They began to show themselves dimwits!
And they began to use economic deficits,
To highlight an ignorance that left them with...
A nakedness that exposes their self-righteousness.

Observed now by all who clearly see,
Money can not buy deception for too long.
Or have people collectively believe...
With a masquerading of it as intelligence!
Especially when people have chosen,
To have their interests represented.
And their needs prioritized not disguised by lies.

Although...
There are those who could care less,
If they shred any credibility they may have left...
Just to prove their ineptness and the depth of it.

Sunrise On The Road

1) sunrise on the road Im feeling high today
Will you ride with me into the night
If I didnt know where I was going to
Would you say that it could be alright
2) we broke down and ended up in new orleans
Saved our souls with an evil groove
Marie laveau was gazing in her crystal ball
Saw my eyes were hazy from the road
3) I walked through the city with my empty glass
Filled it with the mystery of the past
A thousand people danced into the morning sun
This forever feels like it could last
4) walking through the streets down in the marony
Swirling dancers in the second line
Swept me to a place Ive seen in fantasys
Somehow I think I lost track of the time
5) & so I left new orleans with a photograph
Of a thousand miles we left behind
& I saw the city fading in my rear view mirror
Hazy as the road began to wind
6) sunrise on the road Im feeling high today
Will you ride with me into the night
7) we broke down and ended up in new orleans
She took our souls just looking in her eyes
The moon was falling down into the eastern sky
Dreaming as the sun began to rise... (3x)

Only Alive

(blackwell--blackwell)
When you happened by my open eyes could see,
My sleeping hands awoke and almost reached,
I was full of life till you walked on by
Then I went right back to feeling sad and lonely
And only alive.
For a moment my heart began to beat,
My puppet legs responded to your strings,
And my shuffling feet started stepping high
Then I went right back to feeling sad and lonely
And only alive.
For all the things worth living for
Left me for someone new
And all of those things I lost
I was left condemned to a lonely life
Then I went right back to feeling sad and lonely
And only alive.

Remember The Good Times

Good times bad times
Bad times good times
We were twisting Chubby Checker style
In a roaring sixties summer night
We walked the moon and we were free
When Jimi played guitar
We shared a dream with Martin Luther King
We saw J.F.K. in West Berlin
When he spoke those famous words that day
Our world was not the same
Remember the good times
Remember the bad times
Remembering my life, your life
Let the film just roll
We were lost in shock, the world was doomed
Nikita hit us with a shoe
We watched the world go upside down
When the Kennedys got shot
We were screaming when the world was fab
We had Rock 'n' Roll invade our hearts
We had Elvis, Janis, Marilyn
And hair, to let it grow
Remember the good times
Remember the bad times
Remembering my life, your life
Let the film just roll
Remember the good times
Remember the bad times
Remembering my life, your life
We're still standing after all
Back in the cold war
Our hearts were warm
Just because sex was free
In the summer of love
Remember the good times
Remember the bad times
Remembering my life, your life
Let the film just roll
Remember the good times
Remember the bad times
Remembering my life, your life
We're still standing after all
Good times bad times
Bad times good times
Im still standing
Let the film just roll
I'm still standing
We're still standing after all
