Alexandru Macedonski

Impetus [Avânt]

As ships on the wide sea stop quickly for a while
Whenever the wind drops and sails perched on the mast
Hang down in calm repose under the moon's big smile,
But the bright silver rays in vain on them are cast;
As violin curbs its sound when strings too loose do lie
And hardly one can hear, as if he's fast asleep,
Nice and delightful notes, which fly above or die,
And all pervade the mind and their sweet charm is deep;
So in the griefs of life the poet cannot write,
His heart is in great pain and blood flows down his chest,
Dislikes the things around, deems nothing is all right,
And in his frozen soul all feelings are at rest.
The same is with the sailor aboard the ship that stopped,..
When the big boat was swimming to rise high he could dare,
The water reflects gently his lifeless looks that dropped
In its amazing mirror that stretches everywhere.
Those moments are so sad! Because beneath the stars
The poet's injured heart will quickly fall asleep
Like the majestic sea, but it is full of scars,
Because regret and hope can't sing in him, down deep.
But, as when calm dispels and breeze will blow instead
And suddenly the ship will tremble on the waves,
And its inflated sails will carry it ahead
Like if it were a steed which for free rein then craves;
So when the inspiration abruptly rise and shines
And unseen wings will carry them all up in the sky,
Will reappear on paper the ribbons of sweet lines,
And out of heavy body the soul begins to fly.
Lyrism and satire will play on his wide brow
Like thunders thrown by God down here with so much art,
And he, a novel Moses, will climb the mountain now
To plant some other laws inside the human heart.
No matter that behind is so much spite and hate
He laughs when evil men say words of him malign,
So high he aims and, lo, he is so bold and great,
That everything encircles: be earthly or divine!
And harmony he sees in all the worlds that live,
He penetrates the dark of the eternal All;
How matter boils he finds and passes through the sieve,
To follow in the depths the comets that will fall;
The science's frontiers he always will defy...
The atoms come to life, he feels them living there...
He hears when they are glad or when they wail and cry
In their eternal dance performed with so much care.
Among the people comes and knows to soothe them all,
His song will overflow and like the hyssop's bud,
Will clean and wash away the passions that enthrall...
Offense cannot afflict him, he's not afraid of flood;
Feels pity for all those whose soul will surely die,
The tyrant stops at once when with his whip is struck,
But, woe! He who will live forever in the sky
In life has got no bread, no chance and no good luck.

The Poet To Be Yet

NOT he who sings smooth songs that soothe—
Sweet opiates that lull asleep
The sorrow that would only weep;
There are some spirit-stains so deep
That only tears may wash away.
Not he whose lays thrill fiercely till
The soul is sick with surfeiting,
Such passion flies, and leaves its sting,
Till through the body quivering
The wearied dull pain throbs again.
Not he whose glad voice says “Rejoice!”
For whom no clouds o'ercast the sky;
Whose god is in his heaven so high
That this dull world he come not nigh:
Life is no sun-kissed optimist!
But he who Sorrow's presence knows,
Who hears the minor chords beneath
The song of life, and feels the breath
Upon his cheek of quiet death,
Yet stirs and sings of life and love.
Who in his suffering yet can sing;
With that calm pathos in his face—
The hopeless yearning of the race—
Can chant the faith that holds its place,
Upsurging through each sore heart's speech;

Who, though his heart bleed, onward leads;
Who knows eternal is our quest,
Yet bids us toil and strive—not rest—
Who looks life o'er and takes its best—
This is the poet to be yet!

Evening Star [Luceafărul]

There was, as in the fairy-tales,
Back in the distant time,
Of royal blood, which still prevails,
A girl sweet and sublime.

The only child, with no constraints,
And fair and full of charms,
Shining like Mary among saints
And moon among the stars.

She glides through the majestic halls
As if she slowly skates,
Goes to the window where befalls
That Evening Star awaits.

Above the sea he always stays
For rises and shines bright,
Along the moving water ways
Guides all the ships at night.

And seeing him, wish burns her cheeks,
She's thrilled from head to toe;
He watches her for many weeks,
And love begins to grow.

While musing happy at her goal
And resting on her arm,
Deep in her heart and in her soul
She's longing for his charm.

How bright he then begins to burn
Night after night, with grace,
Above the palace black and stern,
Where she will show her face.

* * *

Then follows her; she's not upset,
For he dispels the gloom,
From chilly rays weaving a net
Of flames inside the room.

And when she needs a little rest
And on the bed she lies,
Touches her hands placed on her chest
And closes her sweet eyes.

And from the mirror – antique piece,
Light spreads throughout the place,
On her big eyes, which sleep in peace,
And on her lovely face.

She looks at him and smiles, it seems,
He glimmers in the glass,
Because he follows her in dreams
For she's a pretty lass.

And in her sleep she whispers low,
Her heart beats like a drum:
– O, prince of night, which always glow,
Why stay away? Do come!

Climb down, my star, so meek and kind,
Slide on a ray tonight,
Pervade the palace and my mind,
And in my life bring light!

He hears and shivers in the sky,
Burns harder, feeling free,
Then plunging quickly from on high
Sinks deep into the sea.

And where he falls the water's stirred
Makes circles, there's no doubt,
And from the depth – a thing unheard –
A handsome lad comes out.

He passes through the window pane
Without making a sound,
And in his hand he holds a cane
On top with reeds around.

Looks like a ruler, young and proud,
With soft and golden hair,
And on his shoulders hangs a shroud,
Which flutters in the air.

He seems to be a piece of ice
And has a pale white face –
A pretty corpse with lovely eyes,
Two coals burning with grace.

– I've left my sphere with pain and sigh,
Because you've told me: Come!
My father is the starry sky,
The sea is my dear mom.

To be now here, inside your room,
And stroke you with my rays,
I left behind the heaven's womb
And I was born from waves.

– O, come, my jewel from afar
And leave the world aside!
I am the lofty Evening Star
And you will be my bride.

You'll live in palaces with me,
For centuries you'll stay,
And all the creatures in the sea
Your orders will obey.

– O, you are gorgeous in my dreams,
Like angels you can talk,
But on this charming way it seems
That I shall never walk!

Weird are your clothes and what you've said,
And lifeless is your glow,
I am alive, but you are dead,
Your eye is cold as snow.

* * *

And one by one passed three more days
Then, in a starry night,
The Evening Star sent down his rays
And flooded her with light.

So she remembered him with ease
Although was fast asleep,
And craved her prince born from the seas,
Because her love was deep:

– Climb down, my star, so meek and kind,
Slide on a ray tonight,
Pervade the palace and my mind,
And in my life bring light!

As soon as he perceives the sound
His light goes out in pain,
The sky begins to turn around,
The movement is insane.

The flames which burn up in the air,
Spread all over the place,
And from the chaos, somewhere there,
Takes shape a lovely face.

On his long hair as black as night
There is a burning crown,
He floats on truth, as a brave knight,
And wears a fiery gown.

With a black shroud again is clad
His marble arms show grace,
Looks very thoughtful, bleak and sad,
And has a pallid face;

But his big eyes, which show delight,
Are lit by a small spark,
Two endless passions in the night
Profound and full of dark.

– I've left my sphere and here I run
Because you've told me: Come!
My father is the burning sun,
The night is my dear mom;

O, come, my jewel from afar
And leave the world aside!
I am the lofty Evening Star
And you will be my bride.

O, come, to hang in your blonde hair
Bright stars, looking like gem,
When in the sky you rise up there
To outshine all of them!

– O, you are handsome in my dreams,
A fiend with whom I talk,
But on this charming way it seems
That I shall never walk!

Your ruthless love burdens my brain
My heart cannot survive,
For your big eyes give me much pain,
Their flames burn me alive.

– How would you want me there to be?
I have a life ahead,
I am immortal, can't you see,
Whereas you'll soon be dead?

– My thoughts are simple and sincere,
Yet, words are not at hand –
Although you speak so loud and clear,
I cannot understand.

But if your love has any worth
And it is not a sham,
Come down and live upon the earth
Be mortal, as I am.

– You ask my immortality,
For a romantic touch,
I think it's a fatality
To cherish you so much;

Yes, I'll be born again from sin
To live by other law,
My fate for ever is to spin,
But I want to withdraw.

And went away driven by love
And by the child's sweet gaze,
Leaving the place he had above
For many, many days.

***

But in the meantime, Catalyne,
A buttons shrewd and neat,
Who fills the goblets with red wine
When people drink and eat.

A page who walks behind the queen
Her wondrous gowns to hold,
A bastard child, a stray sweet teen,
With glances sweet and bold,

With cheeks like roses, eyebrows raised
And with a blushing face,
At Catalyna looks amazed
Tucked in a hiding place.

He sees her beauty and her stance
And on the spot he's struck;
Well, Catalyne, this is your chance
To go and try your luck.

And thus he hugs her from behind
But in a gentle way,
– Hey, Catalyne, what's on your mind?
You'd better go away.

– What's on my mind? I think you guess,
I want to feel the bliss,
So, I won't let you go unless
You give me a sweet kiss.

– I do not know what you request,
Please leave and stay afar,
My heart is pounding in my chest
And craves the Evening Star.

– If you don't know, then I'd be glad
To teach you lovers game,
Only don't fuss and don't get mad,
Be lenient and tame.

As does the lonely hunter who
Lays traps and trusts his charms,
The moment I reach out to you
Embrace me with your arms;

And let your eyes, so pure and chaste,
To readily submit
And when I gently grab your waist
On tiptoe rise a bit;

Then, when you see my face is bent
Raise yours and don't be shy,
We shall remain embraced, content,
Until it's time to die.

To understand then fully how
The lovers' hearts do burn,
When kissing you, I'll slightly bow,
You'll kiss me in your turn.

She listens to the playful child
Amazed and ill at ease,
Now she is shy, now she is mild,
Now wants, now disagrees,

And says: – I've known you for so long,
A child astute and fair
And talkative and good and strong,
We two could make a pair...

However, came an Evening Star
And I did not foresee
That he would give a charm bizarre
To the secluded sea;
I keep my lashes lowered now
The teardrops fill my face,
Because I see the ripples how
They go towards his place;

He glows with a tremendous love
And watches me with care,
But he remains so far above
That I can't touch him there.

To light the world he is all set,
Like a majestic star...
For ever I shall love him, yet
For ever he'll stay far...

That's why my days do not seem right
And I want them to end,
But all the nights bring me delight
That I can't comprehend.

– You're just a child, let's run away
In the wide world, my dear,
They will forget our names one day
And so we'll disappear.

We'll be secure and we'll be glad,
Our souls will have no scars,
You will forget your mom and dad
And all the Evening Stars.

* * *

The Evening Star moved in the sky
With his impressive wings
And many thousands years went by
In just as many winks.

A starry sky there was below,
Above a starry sky –
He seemed a streak, a constant glow
That wandered there on high.

And from the chaos, from the bay,
And from his frozen sight,
As in that first and holy day
Flowed lights ablaze and bright.

And they surrounded him in haste
As water waves, how weird...
Driven by longing then he raced
Until they disappeared;

For where he went there was no bound
Or eyes to look about,
And time fought hard and moved around
From hollows to get out.

So, there was nothing, yet there was
A thirst, more like a threat,
A deep dark chasm, just because
It lured him to forget.

– Untie me, Father, from the chains
Of an eternal life,
May you be praised on all domains
And may your years be rife;

O, Lord, ask anything from me,
But listen my demands,
A spring of life you'll always be
And death is in your hands.

Remove the aura from my head
And the immortal dove,
Be good and offer me instead
An hour of true love...

From chaos I was born, no doubt,
In chaos I'd return,
And from the stillness I came out
For stillness now I yearn.

– Hyperion, who from abyss
Rise in the world in flames,
Don't ask for marvels, signs and bliss,
Which have no face, no names;

You wish to be a man, but how
To be like other men?
If all the people died right now
They would be born again.

And their ideals, right and clear,
Seem lofty, but are dumb,
When many ripples disappear
More ripples quickly come.

They look for lucky stars in space
And fate stops short their breath,
We do not have a time and place
And we don't know what's death.

From the eternal yesterday
Rise all and then decline,
If a bright sun now died away
Another one would shine;

But though it seems to stay alive
Death treats him with deep scorn,
For all will die after they thrive
And then again are born.

– But you, Hyperion, will last
Whenever you decline...
This thing I promised in the past –
My wisdom is divine.

How could I let that mouth to speak
And sing and to be free?
It would collapse the mountain peak
Deep down into the sea.

Or do you wish to show your worth
Your justice and your reign?
I'd give you every piece of earth
To make it your domain.

And all the masts I'll give to thee
And armies and much wealth,
To cross the earth and the wide sea,
But I can't give you death...

Tell me, for whom you want to die?
Go back now, turn around,
Look at that planet from on high
And see what's on the ground.

* * *

And in his place again he stays
For in the sky returns
And like in all the other days
His light in distance burns.

Now it is evening all around
Soon will begin the night;
The moon is rising, there's no sound,
The sea reflects her light.

And with her sparks borne by the breeze
She fills the forest lands;
Beneath a row of linden trees
Two youngsters hold their hands:

– O, baby, let my head to lie
Upon your breasts with care
And look at me with your sweet eye,
Which is so clear and fair;

Then with the charm of the cold light
Go deep into my brain,
Pour the deep silence of the night
Over my pangs of pain.

Don't go away, but stay above
And stop the sorrow stream,
You are my first and caring love,
But also my last dream.

Hyperion sees from the skies
Amazement on their face:
When his warm hand on her neck lies
She gives him an embrace...

The scent of lindens quickly spreads,
Their blossoms fall like rain
On top of those two children's heads
Fair-haired, who there remain.

Intoxicated by this love
She lifts her eyes and... lo!
The Evening Star is right above
She craves now for his glow:

– Climb down, my star, so meek and kind,
Slide on a ray tonight,
Pervade the forest and my mind,
And in my life bring light!

He shivers as it did before
On hills, in woods and caves,
While guiding safely to the shore
The lonely moving waves;

But doesn't fall as did one day
Into the foamy sea:
– Why would you care, O, face of clay
If it is him or me?

You live to beg the luck and fate
Your world is small, controlled,
But in my sphere I'm feeling great,
Immortal and so cold.

Tis The Set Of The Sail -- Or -- One Ship Sails East

But to every mind there openeth,
A way, and way, and away,
A high soul climbs the highway,
And the low soul gropes the low,
And in between on the misty flats,
The rest drift to and fro.

But to every man there openeth,
A high way and a low,
And every mind decideth,
The way his soul shall go.

One ship sails East,
And another West,
By the self-same winds that blow,
'Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales,
That tells the way we go.

Like the winds of the sea
Are the waves of time,
As we journey along through life,
'Tis the set of the soul,
That determines the goal,
And not the calm or the strife.

The Joy from Water

Water, you send joy to my heart
To flow like an inspiring art
In the moment of fresh sunlight,
Given succour so sweet and bright.

Of what manner does your joy bring?
Flowing so that my heart did sing
Of the wind that came with splendour,
Wondrous in it to add colour.

Water, my heart is made calm as a dove
By your joy that comforts with love.
How it places my heart so good
That it does it with brightened mood.

Yet my heart truly shines with beams,
Dressed with pleasures more than sweet dreams.
Your water made it to feel higher
With life of so much deep desire.

Water, with vigour your joy heals
My heart so nicely that it feels.
So great that my heart now smiles deep
With warm rays of the sun to keep.

Water Is Wide

The Water is Wide" is a traditional folk song. The girls have been
performing it now and then for years and years. I've been lucky
enough to see Mary-Chapin Carpenter add a beautiful third part to the
harmony on a few occasions.
The Water is Wide.
The water is wide, I can't cross o'er
And neither I have wings to fly
Give me a boat that can carry two
And both shall row - my love and I
Now love is gentle, and love is kind
The sweetest flower when first it's new
But love grows old, and waxes cold
And fades away like morning dew
There is a ship, she sails the sea
She's loaded deep as deep can be
But not as deep as the love I'm in
I know not how I sink or swim
The water is wide, I can't cross o'er
And neither I have wings to fly
Give me a boat that can carry two
And both shall row - my love and I
And both shall row - my love and I

Dark writing....

Dark shadows sneak under the door
As I keep writing these dark lyrics more
Of a nature that's not evil or unkind
Rather of disturbing thoughts in my mind.

They say for everything bad it's found
Something good it has to come around
The weather wouldn't be pleasant if wasn't for the rain
These feelings wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the pain.

I'm doing a storm in a cup of water to prepare
Meanwhile around people don't even care
I pray for my life to not end before these stanzas
But mindlessly I write and write looking for the answers.

My cold dark poems are everywhere
Floating around in the midnight air
Listen, closely you have no choice
These dark words, my deep voice.

Where the world is falling apart,
There lies a dark poem of the heart
Dark poems tell the darkest lines
They make you hear their shrieking cries.

Hold dearly onto your ravaged soul;
Don't find you've let life take its toll
Youll find my dark poems are everywhere
Read them, like them, if you dare….

I am the shadow hiding in the dark
The evil sounds that wake you in the night
I'm a shadow lurking in the dark
Because still it always feels so right

So I write my shadowy poems line by line
But I'm constantly over looked
My brain is fried down to the spine
And my broken heart is cooked

I'm left only with part of a heart
That will never again beat
I'm the one person
No one has to meet

I am a shadow lurking in the dark
Writing my poems so deep
Whispering my words so stark
Pray your soul to keep…

My Spine is Thy Flute!

I adore you,
Not thy adornments,
my heart loves thee,
And not thy attributes,
o, master poet,
The power of your words, when words flow from poet,
thy powerful mind behind his
thoughts, Stopping the storms,
When you steer the ship,
over high waves,
I am not afraid of tidal waves,
Lightning and thunders,
Sleeping under your wings, O master poet,
without uttering a word, ,
Without writing a line,
but make poets sing and joyfully
write,
I love you thee, When you hold my hands,
No fear of fall,
Even if I fall, fall only safe into
your soft and gentle lap! My spine is thy flute,
Thou blow through Chakras,
AUM in different pitch and rich
tone,
My life dances to your tune,
For strains of trifles and for temporal pains immune!

The Ikon

On a day like no other
In a time unique, in a place divine
Keep your eye on the ikon
Shining in the light of eternal mind.
I went to sleep a blind man
But when I awoke I saw
The legions of the lonely
See their faces, hear them call.
See how they hang on
Each one in a world of his own design
Listen to the ikon
Ringing in the sound of eternal mind.
And the music plays forever
And it captures every ear
And the sound of barriers crashing down
Is the sweet harmony you hear.
Still, be still
To strong, so be still
Much too long, come down
Be still, look around
Listen here, be still
Hear the sound, be still.
Still we are here
We are still
Will we sing sweet
Sing we will
Still we are here
We are still
Nil is a fear all is nil
Still we are here we are still
Spill it let go let it spill.
The question comes to mind
About what should be done
And how much of the old will die
That the new may be begun
But you dont have to be afraid
Of being alone with nowhere to run.
You dont have to be afraid
To look yourself in the eye
You dont have to be afraid not to lie.
Someone knows who you are
Someone watches over you
Someone knows how you feel
And someone feels the same.
So you dont have to be afraid
Never fear, for you are living in eternal mind
For those who still recoil
For those who fear the pain
Of peering oer the edge of
A new and different plane.
You dont have to be afraid
Whenever you go you come back again
So you dont have to be afraid
We live and we die
You dont have to be afraid to know why.
You dont have to be afraid
Whenever you go you come back again
So you dont have to be afraid
We live and we die
You dont have to be afraid to know why.

Tides of Life

As the tides of life ebb and flow, you dear friend, may never know,
What the tides will bring your way, as they change from day to day.
This life and all its uncertainty, can change the path of you and me,
And as we journey upon life’s tide, we need an anchor by our side.

You need an anchor in your heart, for your soul that will not depart,
An anchor for every single tide, that keeps you secure deep inside.
Life’s tides can become high or low, no matter where in life you go,
This life can even bring a drought, filling a heart with fears or doubt.

Even when life brings a high tide, one needs to have an inner guide,
One guide to lead you from above, should the tide become a flood.
Friend, during any flood in your life, you can rely upon Jesus Christ,
Who calmed the wind and the sea, can calm a heart for you and me.

He can save you from all harms, taking you in His everlasting arms,
As God places both you and me, upon Christ, The Rock of Eternity.
The Rock that anyone can know, wherever the tides of life may flow,
As it is The Lord’s amazing Grace, that reaches down to every place.

God will save you from life’s flood, through the power of the blood,
Shed for all nations by Jesus Christ, to purchase for all Eternal Life.
And it is that tide from Calvary, which reaches men like you and me,
So that we can live forevermore, upon Christ’s golden Eternal shore.

Constant Static

Eyes open, I'm wide awake
I feel I'm in a coma state
I'll lay here on my back and watch the fan turn
Conversations cross my mind, but nothing of the speaking kind
TV images repeat there one lines
Back and forth I toss and turn
It feels like strings are holding up my eyes
I'd kill to fall asleep
I'd kill to fall asleep
Putting up a losing fight
I'll never see this end tonight
The thought of just one dream it consumes me
Numbers on the clock turn back, my pleas are having no affect
The beating of my heart keeps the time going
Back and forth I toss and turn
It feels like strings are holding up my eyes
I'd kill to fall asleep
I'd kill to fall asleep
They say that when you sleep your body's at rest
I wouldn't know what sleep felt like if I tried my best
Polaroids and memories can fade away, so can I...

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

The Bird And The Ship. (From The German Of Müller)

'The rivers rush into the sea,
By castle and town they go;
The winds behind them merrily
Their noisy trumpets blow.

'The clouds are passing far and high,
We little birds in them play;
And everything, that can sing and fly,
Goes with us, and far away.

'I greet thee, bonny boat! Whither, or whence,
With thy fluttering golden band?'--
'I greet thee, little bird! To the wide sea
I haste from the narrow land.

'Full and swollen is every sail;
I see no longer a hill,
I have trusted all to the sounding gale,
And it will not let me stand still.

'And wilt thou, little bird, go with us?
Thou mayest stand on the mainmast tall,
For full to sinking is my house
With merry companions all.'--

'I need not and seek not company,
Bonny boat, I can sing all alone;
For the mainmast tall too heavy am I,
Bonny boat, I have wings of my own.

'High over the sails, high over the mast,
Who shall gainsay these joys?
When thy merry companions are still, at last,
Thou shalt hear the sound of my voice.

'Who neither may rest, nor listen may,
God bless them every one!
I dart away, in the bright blue day,
And the golden fields of the sun.

'Thus do I sing my merry song,
Wherever the four winds blow;
And this same song, my whole life long,
Neither Poet nor Printer may know.'

I Dream of a New Land

my soul chained with fears
caged in a dark place
cries with sorrowful tears
down my pale, hollow face

the notes of my song die
before even being born
my broken wings cannot fly
deep in my heart, I can feel
this sharp, constant thorn

I dream of a new land
the land of the blue skies
-the land of the free-
across this desert,
across this dry sand
across this stormy sea

will I dare to act on my dreams?
will I dare to rise and break my chains?
will I dare to free all the inside screams?
will I dare to reveal all my pains?

my soul without any fears
flies free in a colorful place
cries with new happy tears
down my bright, beautiful face

a new song is born in an instant
I carry it on my new silver wings
there’s no time and no distance
I’m born in the eternal existence
my heart forever sings

I dream of a new land
the land of the blue skies
-the land of the free-
across this desert,
across this dry sand
across this stormy sea

I raise a Hallelujah every day Sonnet

As the bow dances gently on the strings,
a great Hallelujah is being born,
Sublime whispers land on the angels' wings,
far away, softly cries the old brass horn.

Many unseen choirs sing a song of praise,
A thankful heart is writing a poem,
God smiles from heaven through the warm sun rays,
I smile back, so happy that I know Him.

Amazing Grace resounds in the valley,
Never-ending echo of His blessings,
His Song I forever proudly carry,
The Song of Love on my violin strings.

I'll raise a Hallelujah every day,
as long as I will live and I can pray.

Fist Of Fire (alternate Version)

(Anderson Howe Wakeman Bruford)
Carry forth as a guardian to Kingdom Come
With your daggers of the spirit
Let the dagger run
With the Fist of Fire
Be the master now
As the darkness of ages past
Riches silver and gold
In the liquid see
Cast a net can you catch
So you can't see me
As in death you can climb
Higher thru the sky
Show your wings
Surely you can fly
Fly away past the guardian to Kingdom Come
See the miracle of life
Disappear it's gone
Go carry your silver ships of light
Go carry your silver ships of light
Go carry your silver ships of life
Go carry your silver ships of life
Go carry your silver ships of life
Keep the fire in your hand
It won't let you drown
As you fly with your wings
Won't come falling down
See the flower of youth
Disappear on high
As you gather your true wings
About to fly
To be ready
To be strong
Make it run
This righteous
This wrong
This right
This love
This is how nature controls
The way of all things
this is how the angels sing
Not afraid
No, not afraid
Not afraid of this or that
Not afraid
Carry forth as a guardian to Kingdom Come
With the ghost
And the spirit
Let the fire run
Thru the darkest age
We can surely fly
Thru the darkest age
With the Fist Of Fire
Thru the darkest age
With the Fist of Fire

In Memoriam A. H. H.: 11. Calm is the morn without a sound

Calm is the morn without a sound,
Calm as to suit a calmer grief,
And only thro' the faded leaf
The chestnut pattering to the ground:
Calm and deep peace on this high wold,
And on these dews that drench the furze.
And all the silvery gossamers
That twinkle into green and gold:
Calm and still light on yon great plain
That sweeps with all its autumn bowers,
And crowded farms and lessening towers,
To mingle with the bounding main:

Calm and deep peace in this wide air,
These leaves that redden to the fall;
And in my heart, if calm at all,
If any calm, a calm despair:

Calm on the seas, and silver sleep,
And waves that sway themselves in rest,
And dead calm in that noble breast
Which heaves but with the heaving deep.

Philosophy of death [Filozofia morţii]

To Death, with unwise voice, such words I will not pour
"Stop coming for a while and wait a little more!",
To breathe my last I'm ready right now or anytime!
In it there's always freedom, in life man slave becomes...
Eternity is waiting for us with open arms...
And thus we all re-enter the bosom sweet, sublime!

It's not at all appalling, as people say and sigh;
Its glance is calm and bluish like the unclouded sky.
The state before inception is mirrored by its face!
Stays at the worldly border like a triumphant gate
Its fires wash the passions which have been sent by fate,
And cleans the clay that covers our souls so full of grace!

If any of the spirits denies its high domain
Is worthy then to live here and feel the bitter pain!
When cease to be you're rescued from suffering and cry!
By Jove! I'm sick of sleeping, and drinking in delight,
Again to do the same things from dawn till late at night,
To live, but have the feeling I cannot choose to die!

But what's beyond the dying?... Another life may be
When blood has frozen solid and stopped to flow in thee?...
To say a No what being of this wide world would dare?...
And Death what's in its essence?... A sleep, a holy rest,
When once again our soft clay is kneaded and is pressed
And for that change majestic it has to wait and bear!

When paper burns, a fraction of it in ashes lies,
While smoke – the other fraction – above the flame will rise;
The same is with the body, made of two parts, no doubt,
The clay remains behind it and flowers will grow then,
While gases go in heaven to freshen once again
Those elements eternal from which they all came out!

O, shadows, you who passed away,
In death you never will subside,
You live in all we see today,
From where you left after you died;
Your soul is everywhere you please,
Burns with the flames, flies with the breeze,
Lies in the leaf that's turning green,
Speaks in the river winding, clean,
Smells from the flower that is seen,
We live in it, in us it lies,
Mothers in mourning, wipe your eyes,
Your children still are here with you!

Nothing is lost in world at all,
Nothing will pass, alive will stay,
The blade of grass, however small,
And my own body made of clay!
The tombstone tries, but all in vain,
To keep us in the moist terrain;
Birds come on it to drink and rest;
It's hit by wind, by rain oppressed!
Time breaks it and in moss is dressed;
Padlock and handles then will rust
Our country's soldiers, dead in dust,
Will be all over, in us, too!

I will not go to search in Hell
Those in the world who surely die
And Paradise is far, I tell,
Long is the ladder to the sky!
But in two vines, which join above,
I'll find two hearts that fell in love,
And in the willows sheding tears,
Poets with harps that soothe the ears,
In flowers, lovers young of years!
Moms in the stems stick in the ground
And heroes in the mounts around!

Let all the stupid people to fear the death today,
Which, to avoid temptation, will surely come and lay
At life's remotest border a barrier, alas;
But those who can see farther and hear the grave's loud call,
When feel they're on its edges and ready are to fall,
Like me, for Death, to drink up this necessary glass!

A Poet To Be

A poet I claim not to be,
For words are never there.
In all the years I've tried to write,
I have no words to share.

I sit and think but nothing comes,
No inspiration here.
I want to write of anything,
But still no words I fear.

I read the works of other poets,
I wish I were like them.
How do they write such beautiful lines,
A poet, I'm not him.

I try to write from the heart,
From deep within my soul.
I try to write of the love I have,
But cannot reach my goal.

But why I ask, why can't I write,
Of love so pure and true.
Why can't I write about her eyes,
A mix of green and blue.

I want to write about her smile,
It brightens up my day.
I try to think of anything,
But words I cannot say.

I wish I knew how to write,
A poem with such bliss.
I wish I knew how to describe,
Her soft but tender kiss.

I cannot even begin to write,
How she holds me tight.
How her arms around me,
Makes everything just right.

A poet does not have to think,
The words flow right out.
When I sit and try to write,
I want to scream and shout.

I mean come on, how hard can it be,
To write about her hair.
Such long beautiful natural blonde,
That flows in the air.

I try to write about her laugh,
The words will not fly.
Time passes and finally,
I say it's soft and high.

It's been an hour and a half,
I'm here on verse twelve.
I had to go to Rhymezone,
To find out the rhyme is shelve.

A poet does not do that,
Go online to find a rhyme.
A poet has it in his head,
And can write at any time.

But a poet I am not,
For I cannot write of love.
How the girl I am with,
Is an angel from up above.

How I love her with all my heart,
And want to spend my life with her.
How her love for me is more,
Than I can ever be for sure.

As I draw near the end,
My mind is not so numb.
I realize I've just written of love,
A poet I have become.
