Anamnesis

I was sitting cross-legged when a tangerine man walked and went up stage.
He looked so divine with seriousness on his face. I could see neither ill feelings nor a sign of rage.
He sat with graciousness. He talked with compassion. He delivered the message loud and clear.
"Today is the day to remember, pay homage, say thanks and offer your success to your mother dear."
He continued, "Words may not be enough in expressing your gratitude to her; none the less those are the best."
In addition he said, "She is your one and only- an icon with all the embodiments of beauty laid in a crest."
Then, he pointed out, "She is the lighthouse, the anvil, the cascade, to name a few of her epitome."
In conclusion, delivering in a light voice he muttered, "She is a far beyond compare effigy."
I and we were struck with awe. Silence ruled the hall. Waiting, wanting to hear more we kept ourselves still.
As silence enveloped us, the mouse murmured twice. Sounds and visions made us all thrill.
An attestation of a son's life and her mother's feat appeared right before us - a memoir worth reckoning.
In a split of a second, arrows struck deep down into our hearts. They bled. We cried. The hall was raining.
We were tears wet, we were sighing, we were reminiscing, a sense of belongingness engulfed us all
An ideation came into me.- " A MAN will possibly abandon his MOTHER but SHE can never will." I would always recall.

Getting Outside of Themselves

I did not drive a Mercedes.
In fact I had a bus pass.
So naturally anything I had to offer...
They believed should be quickly trashed.
I would laugh inside.
Knowing I would soon see them...
Sitting on the sidewalks with tears they cried.
And I tried to tell them to become conscious of events.
To exercise their rights to enjoy their lives.
By getting outside of themselves...
To be with Mother Nature!
Well...
They did get outside with Mother Nature.
But I doubt if Mother Nature expected them to cry tears...
When 'she' does the best she can to deliver Sun,
To all who understand where their blessings come from!
And what God gives...
Is much more than things to worship.
Much more than reminiscing treasures taken,
For lack of payments made!
And embarrassments witnessed diminishing pretentions.

Like No Other...Mother

Mother...

Mother, who gave us her heart...her very soul.
Mother, who's understanding never wavered.
Mother, the one who dried our tears.
Mother, she lead us to the path of His Love.
Mother, who washed our cloths and cleaned the house.
Mother, who instilled confidence in her children.
Mother, who walked us to school.
Mother, who loved us like no other.
Mother, who quelled the anger within us.
Mother, who drove us to all our practices.
Mother, who never forgot our special occasions.
Mother, who protected her family, as a lion to a cub.
Mother, who always supported our father.
Mother, who scrimped and saved for our daily needs.
Mother, who was always the last to eat.
Mother, who was always the first to rise.
Mother, who cared for the animals.
Mother, a love that knew no limits.
Mother, who forever placed her family, before herself.
Mother, who was grateful, for every passing acknowledgement.
Mother, whose eyes shined, when she heard the words,
I love you mom.
Mother, who always saw the good in us.
Mother, who always taught us to never, never, give up.
Mother, who instilled in us, to be better.
Mother, who made us believe, we could accomplish anything.
Mother, mother...mother, you were like no other.

Mother, you will always remain, in our
hearts, in our deeds, in our thoughts,
in our lives and in our prayers.

Surely, beyond the stars, there's a special place for Mothers.

She Cried

seeing her child
part from her, the mother cried

she cried hard
for just one more glimpse
of her dear child

ruthless was the society
who didn't accept the mother's child
though the mother loved him loads
despite knowing his illness couldn't be cured

everyone rejected him
no one was ready to accept
though he was one of them

the mother cried and cried loud
yet no one came to help from the huge crowd

her child wasn't different
from the others in line

what made him unique
was just the way people looked at him....

Mother In Law

(a. toussaint)
Mother in law, mother in law
Mother in law, mother in law
The worst person I know
Mother in law, mother in law
She worries me so
Mother in law, mother in law
If she leaves us alone
We could have a happy home
Sent from down below
Mother in law, mother in law
Mother in law, mother in law
Satan should be her name
Mother in law, mother in law
To me theyre about the same
Mother in law, mother in law
Everytime I open my mouth
Steps in trying to put me out
How could you stood so low
Mother in law, mother in law
Mother in law, mother in law
Come home with my pay
Mother in law, mother in law
She asks me what I made
Mother in law, mother in law
She thinks her advice is a contribution
If she would leave that would be the solution
Dont come back no more
Mother in law, mother in law
Mother in law, mother in law....

(Meera) The Marriage Talk

Meera reached the proper age,
That proposed her marriage.
Her mother was worried,
It was time, she be married.

But Meera was unconcerned,
Since she herself had married
Krishna, her dream husband.
So, she wasn’t at all worried.

They sent messengers
To other Rajput kings
With their royal message,
Proposing Meera’s marriage.

None came forward
To take her hand,
But the King of Mewar
Was willing to marry her.

Kumbha Rana was his name.
To marry her, he came.
Meera was quite upset,
And first didn’t accept.

“I can’t break our tradition
By accepting another one,
Already when I’m married
To Krishna, my husband.”

Her mother cried and said,
“My life I would have laid
With your father in the pyre,
You know, why I’m here.”

“Because of you I’m alive.
If today your father is alive,
He would’ve had it done
To our utmost satisfaction.”

“What’s not possible now,
After it you run how?
Of what’s possible,
Why can’t you now avail? ”

”Our Rajput tradition says
A grown up girl, who marries
Should serve her husband,
And die with her husband.”

Meera gave deaf ears.
She cried and shed tears.
They came to the conclusion
That Meera had gone sick then.

Doctors came to check
But they went back
Without giving any treatment,
Not knowing her ailment.

Meera’s eyes became red
As she cried and cried.
Her mother was upset
O’er her pitiable sight.

Till the last moment
Poor Meera did expect
Krishna would save her
But He disappointed her.

Here and there people walked.
About the marriage they talked.
Kumbha Rana arrived in the scene.
It was her marriage day one.

As a bride, Meera was decorated.
In Rajput style, she was dressed.
But Meera was in tears.
Her face showed fears.

Her mother said, “Meera, listen
It’s our prestige, not a fun,
Our two kingdoms, it’ll strengthen.
Rajput clan will glow and shine.”

“A mother is the first Goddess.
Next only your Krishna comes.
I’m your mother saying this.
Be bold, happy and wise.”

Meera replied, “Yes, mother
Now I obey your order
As your way is Krishna’s way.
Your word is His word this day.”

She spoke no more words.
She stepped on the dais
To hold the second hand
And accept her new husband.

A Mother's Heart

Numb with feelings on the loss of her child
A mother, she stood with a bleeding heart
Tears of sadness that struck her being
for this beautiful mother with love she wept

Recalling memories of her only son
was a child that chose the best mother for him
His learnings on earth has come to an end
Leaving his mother to cope, without him

Her heart that aches with constant pain
Mother I am okay, for I am resting now
A time will come for us to meet
So mother please, “do not weep”.

My Real Goddess

Today my mother
Came to my house
With lots of blessing
And full of good wishing
To live long
Happy and healthy
Progressive and wealthy
My mother
My sweet mother
My beautiful mother
My loving mother
My real goddess
My ever goodness
My first lady I loved
My life my mother
My soul my mother
My God-gift my mother
My pride my mother
My aim my mother
My teacher my mother
My friend my mother
My preacher my mother
My daughter's face look-like my mother
My daughter my little mother
O the Absolute Almighty
Give me my mother
Again and again
And again and again
My mother
Only my mother.

What He Gave to Us

I wanted to do something different today
I didn’t know what to do, or even what to say.

I had a feeling deep inside- that made me
Want to scream “ I’m alive”.

I looked around at all the beauties of the earth
And thought about all my worth.
That I was born with all five senses
That the lord had given to me.

The sense to Touch a delicate flower
The sense to Hear a bewitching hour
The sense to Smell what s in the air.
The sense to Taste the juices of a pear
The sense to See the beauty of a pearl

There is another sense that they don’t say
Such as Feelings- of love, to wipe tears away
Feelings cover all aspects of life
It can make things wrong or things right.

Feelings of passion and despair
Of compassion from one who cares
Bitterness, anger, hate and sorrow
Even those make life worth while.

There is so much that we must be grateful for
For GOD has opened all the doors.
He knew that we needed all these things
To make our lives complete.

But there was still something missing
What good was all these senses
If we didn’t have the main sense.

The sense to think and rationalize
All that he had given
That was the thing that would really
Make life worth living.

Tell me why
Tell me why
You run?
My mother's always told me
YA BINTI
Don't forget
MIN FAIN IN-TI
Remember who you are
Listen to the voice
That plays in your head
Make the right choice
Tell me why
Tell me why

YA BA YE, YA BA YE
Tell me why
Tell me why

I had to see it my way
'Cause life is very short
The more I try to learn
The less I seem to know
Oh - I cry in my bed
Ye... I miss my home
The home I can't forget
I hear my mother's voice
Tell me why
Tell me why

Goodbye Mother Dear

Mother, mother, mother dear,
Can you hold me close, can you hold me near?
Mother, mother, oh mother dear,
Will you listen, listen to my words of fear?

Mother, I am inside your womb.
Mother, you hold the key.
Mother, is it too late, too soon?
Mother, what do you see?

I hear your heart beat, beat, beat,
It comforts me when I am asleep.
I feel your warmth, I feel your heat,
But mother dear, I feel you weep.

Mother, I am so full of fear.
Mother, I see it in your tear.
Mother, I know you cry and why.
Mother, I know we must say goodbye.

(if only you could let me grow
my love to you then i could show
but that i know cannot be so
the time has come for me to go)

Mother, mother, mother dear,
Do not feel guilt, do not feel fear.
Mother, mother, oh mother dear,
For a while, you held me near.

How Could This Happen?

I look and see my mother's face
but it's not my mother I see,
for I'm looking in the mirror
and the face I see is me.

I listen and hear my mother's voice
but it's not my mother I hear,
For I'm listening to the words I say
and they are words she said I fear.

I wonder how she'd see me now
and what she'd have to say?
I think she'd probably say to me.
'How'd you get this way? '

I'd know I'd reply 'Mama please,
I didn't have any choice.
'Cause everytime time I open my mouth
I still can hear your voice.'

Little all-aloney

Little All-Aloney's feet
Pitter-patter in the hall,
And his mother runs to meet
And to kiss her toddling sweet,
Ere perchance he fall.
He is, oh, so weak and small!
Yet what danger shall he fear
When his mother hovereth near,
And he hears her cheering call:
"All-Aloney"?

Little All-Aloney's face
It is all aglow with glee,
As around that romping-place
At a terrifying pace
Lungeth, plungeth he!
And that hero seems to be
All unconscious of our cheers -
Only one dear voice he hears
Calling reassuringly:
"All-Aloney!"

T hough his legs bend with their load,
Though his feet they seem so small
That you cannot help forebode
Some disastrous episode
In that noisy hall,
Neither threatening bump nor fall
Little All-Aloney fears,
But with sweet bravado steers
Whither comes that cheery call:
"All-Aloney!"

Ah, that in the years to come,
When he shares of Sorrow's store, -
When his feet are chill and numb,
When his cross is burdensome,
And his heart is sore:
Would that he could hear once more
The gentle voice he used to hear -
Divine with mother love and cheer -
Calling from yonder spirit shore:
"All, all alone!"

Waiting's Worse.

Waiting's worse. She knows it.
That old feeling known since
childhood. Then it was the parent,
the heavy hand, the punishment.

This is like it, but not like it. She
waits for him to come home. His
footfalls in the hall, his voice along
the passage. To gauge the tone,

the loud or softness. She sits, waits.
Be prepared, the mother said,
years back. The clock in the hall
sounds loud with its tick tock. Puts

hands between the thighs, anxiety
bites. For better for worse, the
vows said. Bruises like medals,
black eyes as reminders, a colour

ranging from black and blue to green
to brown or whatever it is. She cocks
an ear. Him? Maybe. The last time
it was she'd been seen with some

feller. She'd not of course. But it suited
as an excuse. She'd lost the baby by
the fall down stairs. What was that
all about? Was that the time she had

been late with his dinner? Or was that
some other? Baby'd be walking now.
Missed the first steps, the first word,
the live birth. Is that him? She bites a

finger nail. Feelings seem to run along
the nerves. What to say? What words?
The door opens along the hall, his voice
echoes mildly, we shall wait, we shall see.

Mother

A tribute to our mothers!

The mother is the most important being in the world,
and she is always by your side.
She is the angel who accompanies you every moment;
she is the one who rocked you,
when you are little, and wiped away your tears!

She is the one who touched your forehead,
when you had a fever.
She is the one who tucked you in every night,
before bed...
She is the one who drove away your sad dreams, and
she took you in her arms when you were afraid...

Mom is the place where you always come back, and
she is always with you regardless the path you may choose;
she will watch over you and protect you!

The mother is the holiest icon
which you carry in your soul every day
- when you are happy, she is happy !
When you cry and you are sad, she cries with you.
When you make a mistake, she forgives you!

The mother is the star that never sets;
she is the closest thing to perfection!
Mother is that candle that burns continuously,
whether it's raining or snowing;
she is the light of your hope and dreams...

Is there a more wonderful creature than Mother?
No!
There is no more beautiful being than your mother!
Mother is UNIQUE!

Bad Boy

I woke up from the drink I had
The room was dark and suddenly began to swirl
I should of heeded mothers words
She said shed heard it said you were a naughty girl
But what does a mother know
That we really need to know
And what would she say if she knew
Na na na na youre just a bad boy
Who, who, who
Na na na na theyll drive you mad boy
Who, who, who
But mother, what a way to go
I looked out as the sun came up
I shook my head and said I really should be gone
I grabbed my shoes and daily news
And walked out in the heat beneath the summer sun
But father was there outside with no place to run and hide
He looked most upset as he said whereve you been?
Na na na na youre just a bad boy
Who, who, who
Na na na na theyll drive you mad boy
Who, who, who
But mother, what a way to go
But what if shed walked in and caught us
Do you think shed have been shocked
The way that she talked youd think I was a daughter
Anyway the door was locked
I know that mother disagrees
But I would really like to see you again
And if you want to see me too
Then meet me in the bushes at the river bend
And no one will find us out
cause no one will be about
But still I can hear them all say
Na na na na youre just a bad boy
Who, who, who
Na na na na theyll drive you mad boy
Who, who, who
But mother, what a way to go

Resurrection

The darkness ruled inside the tomb where Jesus had been laid,
Like when within His Mother's womb, the Saviour child was made.
The sombre callous death was done when Christ was crucified...
The Lamb of God, indeed the One, who bled, arms open wide...
For now, He served His God in death, as He had served in life -
Until He took His final breath to finalise His strife.
The body laid in Death's embrace, inside a morbid shroud...
No Halleluyah word of praise and no Hosanna loud.
The silence ruled inside the rock where Jesus had been left.
Beyond this realm, His Mother's shock, had made her quite bereft.
She wept her tears, like Mothers do, surrounded by His friends...
A small group called the chosen few, brought low by these events...
The hours passed and nothing stirred - Christ's body stayed serene.
For God had not yet said the word to raise the Nazarene.
The angels waited silently with faith no mortal shared.
God's Son had conquered Calvary - from Death, He must be spared!
The Spirit who was once in Christ returned to Him again -
Restoring what was sacrificed and bled before all men!
He left behind His death, His tomb, His shroud and darkness, too...
Outshining every rose's bloom, Lord Jesus rose... for you!

Touched By Time

The hall clock stopped at five past four,
the moment my loving mother died.
She always said it would and it did,
and my dearest mother never lied.

She seemed to know about these things
and often had a supernatural sense.
A few minutes of silence would come over her
and then she’d explain what the silence meant.

When the morning wind blew in a particular way
she said that something was coming soon,
or something unexpected was going to happen
and it would before that very afternoon.

She said that she had been touched by time,
but never explained how and why.
Five past four was when she entered the world
and also the time she died.
