Second Watcher: The country here is such a very cheerless place... Where I lived before it was less cheerless. In the evening I sat by the window spinning. The window looked out to the sea and at times there was an island in the distance... Many times, I stopped spinning; just looked out to the sea and forgot living. I don’t know if I was happy. Now I shall not be something that maybe I never was...
First Watcher: Apart from here, I had never seen the sea. There, from that window, is the only place where the sea can be seen and can be seen so little of it! Is the sea in other lands beautiful?
Second Watcher: Only the sea from other lands is beautiful. That one which we see always makes us miss the one we shall never see...

The Watcher
Like a watcher I must listen and see.
But never intervene.
Death of the soul has come over me.
A conscience with a little less stress.
Secrets galore, one time, one place, a person is erased.
Like venom it eats at you inside.
To know and do nothing.
So powerless.
I've become the watcher.
A star collector,
A master of all and none.
What is wrong cant be undone.
With an erie sound and light.
Guidance should be forthright.
But still I hear the whispers of many clouded minds.
Dark are the times.
I've become the watcher.
Distant but so close that i can feel the auras of those who walk the path a little too fast.
An error in judgement call.
To proud to take a chance instead of the fall.
I've become the watcher and yet still I musn't make a move.
For my turns coming.
But till then I must be patient and use the indirect power suggestion.
For any act of aggression would just lead them astray.
And that will never be okay.
So I will be on the front line with my eyes and ears as a watcher.

The Watcher on the Tower
I
The Voice of a Man
WHAT of the Night, O Watcher?
The Voice of a Woman
Yea, what of it?
The Watcher
A star has risen; and a wind blows strong.
Voice of the Man
The Night is dark.
The Watcher
But God is there above it.
Voice of the Woman
The Night is dark; the Night is dark and long.
II
Voice of the Man
What of the Night, O Watcher?
Voice of the Woman
Night of sorrow!
The Watcher
Out of the East there comes a sound, like song.
Voice of the Man
The Night is dark.
The Watcher
Have courage! There’s To-morrow!
Voice of the Woman
The Night is dark; the Night is dark and long.
III
Voice of the Man
What of the Night, O Watcher?
Voice of the Woman
Is it other?
The Watcher
I see a gleam; a thorn of light; a thong.
Voice of the Man
The Night is dark.
The Watcher
The Morning comes, my Brother.
Voice of the Woman
The Night is dark; the Night is dark and long.
IV
Voice of the Man
What now, what now, O Watcher?
The Watcher
Red as slaughter
The Darkness dies. The Light comes swift and strong.
Voice of the Man
The Night was long.—What sayest thou, my Daughter?
Voice of the Woman
The Night was dark; the Night was dark and long.

The Watcher
I think I hear the sound of horses' feet
Beating upon the graveled avenue.
Go to the window that looks on the street,
He would not let me die alone, I knew.'
Back to the couch the patient watcher passed,
And said: 'It is the wailing of the blast.'
She turned upon her couch and, seeming, slept,
The long, dark lashes shadowing her cheek;
And on and on the weary moments crept,
When suddenly the watcher heard her speak:
'I think I hear the sound of horses' hoofs-'
And answered, ''Tis the rain upon the roofs.'
Unbroken silence, quiet, deep, profound.
The restless sleeper turns: 'How dark, how late!
What is it that I hear-a trampling sound?
I think there is a horseman at the gate.'
The watcher turns away her eyes tear-blind:
'It is the shutter beating in the wind.'
The dread hours passed; the patient clock ticked on;
The weary watcher moved not from her place.
The gray dim shadows of the early dawn
Caught sudden glory from the sleeper's face.
'He comes! my love! I knew he would!' she cried;
And smiling sweetly in her slumbers, died.

Window
I was staring out the window
The whole time he was talking to me
It was a filthy pane of glass
I couldn't get a clear view
As he went on and on
It wasn't the outside world I could see
Just the filthy pane that I was looking through
So I had to break the window
It just had to be
Better that I break the window
Than him or her or me
I was never focused on just one thing
My eyes got fixed when my mind got soft
It may looked like I'm concentrated on a very clear view
But I'm as good as asleep
I bet you didn't know
It takes a lot of it away if you do
So I had to break the window
It just had to be
Better that I break the window
Than him or her or me
So I had to break the window
It just had to be
Better that I break the window
Than him or her or me
Because the fact in fact
Whatevers in front of me is covering my view
So I can't see what I'm seeing in fact
I only see what I'm looking through
I had to break the window
It just had to be it was in my way
Better that I break the window
Then forget what I had to say
So again I've done the right thing
I was never worried about that
The answer's always been in clear view
But even when the window's clean
I still can't see for the fact
That when it's clean it's so clear
I cant tell what I'm looking through
So I had to break the window
It just had to be
Better that I break the window
Than him or her or me
I had to break the window
It just had to be it was in my way
Better that I break the window
Then forget what I had to say
I had to break the window
It was in my way
Better that I break a window
Then forget what I had to say
Or miss what I should see
Or breaking him or her or me

A Window Of Opportunity
In every life occasionally
a window opens before us,
a window of opportunity.
It may not be a window to money,
but a window to more friends.
When we pass through it could lead us
to friends in many lands.
So the next time a window opens
just walk on through
you’ll never know
what lies beyond it there.
It could open
to the greatest treasure there,
love and friendship
just for you.

Watcher Of The Skies
Watcher of the skies watcher of all
His is a world alone no world is his own,
He whom life can no longer surprise,
Raising his eyes beholds a planet unknown.
Creatures shaped this planets soil,
Now their reign has come to an end,
Has life again destroyed life,
Do they play elsewhere, do they know
More than their childhood games?
Maybe the lizards shed its tail,
This is the end of mans long union with earth.
Judge not this race by empty remains
Do you judge God by his creatures when they are dead?
For now, the lizards shed its tail
This is the end of mans long union with earth.
From life alone to life as one,
Think not now your journeys done
For though your ship be sturdy, no
Mercy has the sea,
Will you survive on the ocean of being?
Come ancient children hear what I say
This is my parting council for you on your way.
Sadly now your thoughts turn to the stars
Where we have gone you know you never can go.
Watcher of the skies watcher of all
This is your fate alone, this fate is your own.

Baby Girls Window
I've got you rainbows seen your sunbeams
I know a place where heaven breathes
And it's through her window
Your baby girl's window
I know you're happy where you are
Singing to the moon talking to the stars
Through her window
Your baby girl's window
There's fingermarks around her soul
But your laughter fills the hole
Through her window
Your baby girl's window
Aaah I wish you would stay
Aaah to see what she made of herself
People say you were gone too soon
I see your face when flowers bloom
Through her window
Your baby girl's window
I'm looking for the words to say
Something to take her pain away
Through her window
Aaah I wish you would stay
Aaah to see what she made of herself

Watcher In The Sky
I'm watching the mountains I'm watching the sea
Observing the creatures I am lost - set me free
Across the heavens I made my way
I've seen empires rise and blown away
I have arrived at my destiny but after all
there's just emptiness in me
Out in the darkness - I am going mad
Where are the others - there's silence in my head
'Cause I'm a watcher in the sky
I've seen universes die
Out in the cold my systems overload
I am lost in time
Watcher in the sky
I'm trapped in this nightmare
Endless tortures and pain

A Window Of Time
Looking through a window
where time had stopped
I see my mother calling
Calling for me
to see where I had been
I see myself run to her
I feel a sense of shock
I shout for them
to look at the window
I see their disbelief
as they look right at me
Then they disappear
right in front of me
Right up until her death
My mother would always talk
of a ghost at the window
that looked just like me

Outside My Window - Sarah Buxton
Outside my window,
I see a redbird singin',
Sittin' on a wire,
Wish I knew what he's thinkin'.
Outside my window,
I see a couple kissin'.
Huggin and a-lovin',
Man, that's just what I've been missin'.
These days, when everything is crazy,
Some things are never, ever changin'.
(chorus)
You still need stars when you're wishin' at night,
A best friend to set you right,
A good laugh, a warm bath,
And a beautiful song you can sing along to.
Good news that'll make you cry,
All the little things that money can't buy,
No wars, no more,
Just a big rainbow
Outside my window.
La la la la la la.
Outside my window,
I see the bluest ocean,
Sails in the sunlight,
Rockin' in the sweetest motion.
Outside my window,
I hear the church bells ringin',
Nobody fightin',
Over what hymn they're singin'.
I know, I'm dreamin' like a child,
But some things just don't go out of style, like:
(chorus)
La la la la la la.
(Outside my window.)
La la la la la la.
Outside my window,
I see a flag that's wavin',
Hands joined together,
Everybody's celebrating. (Yeah!)
La la la la la la.
Outside my window.
La la la la la la.
Everybody look outside my window.
(chorus)
La la la la la la.
(Outside my window.)
La la la la la la.
(Outside my window.)
La la la la la la.
(Outside my window.)
La la la la la la.
(Everybody look outside my window.)
La la la la la la.
(Live...live.)
La la la la la la.
Oh, oh.
(Outside, outside.)
La la la la la la.
(Live...live.)
La la la la la la.
(Outside my window.)
La la la la la la.
(Live...live.)
(Outside, outside.)
(Outside my window.)
La la la la la la.

The Lizard
there is this friendship
between this lizard
and me,
one day it lands on my nape
and crawls on its cold
tiny feet on my nape
to my head and
stays as my watcher
on my hair
and then i slept so tight
forgetting about
everything sad
and depressing.

Beautiful Day
I wish ever day, start out this way
What a beautiful day
Clear skies, on the horizon, gentle breeze blowing back your hair
You and I together, without a worry, or a care
What a beautiful day
Take in a trip, to our special place, our second favorite place in the world
No one to bother us, no one else there,
Just you and I together, without a worry, without a care
What a beautiful day
And we can spend time talking, about the world outside
As we laze by the window, just you and I
Sharing a moment of happiness, with no one else there
What a beautiful day
What a beautiful day
A beautiful day, alone with you

The Case Of The Window Pain
an astute answer
discerning shrewd
would surely mention
this wit must be
personification
of a window pane
as for the window pain
perhaps the window is shamed
perhaps the window is dirty
as for the window pain
perhaps the glass is cracked
small large cracks streaked
as for the window pain
perhaps cricket ball punctured
victim of circle game holed
as for the window pain
perhaps the window is broken
glass shards bear crime witness
as for the window pain
perhaps window frame rots
an old window in house derelict
as for the window pain
perhaps the window witnesses
child abuse domestic scenes violent

Rachel and You and The Day Trip
It was a day trip out
to some seaside place
arranged by the Gospel church
for kids whose parents
were poor
and having got on the coach
you sat in a seat
by the window
and waved at your mother
standing on the pavement
along Rockingham Street
and she waved back
then this girl sat beside you
who you didn't know
and she smiled and said
all right if I sit here?
sure
you said
and looked back out
at your mother
and waved again
and she waved back
and you thought
who is this girl?
and why is she
sitting next to me?
and she looked at out
the window
and waved to her mother
who started talking
to your mother
and they both waved back
to you and the girl
and you said
do you want to sit
by the window?
and she said
ok yes that'd be nice
and so she got out
and you got out
then she got in
and sat
by the window
and you sat
down beside her
and then the coach
started up
and drove off
and you both waved
at your mothers
until they were out of sight
and the girl turned
and said
I'm Rachel
this is my first time
to the seaside
and you said
you can walk around
with me if you want to
and she said
that'd be good
I don't know
anyone else here
and so she did
all day
walked around with you
along the beach
and on the sands
making sandcastles
and in the cafe
where they took you all
for a meal
of fish and chips
and she talked
and talked
and smiled
and laughed
and once she took
hold of your hand
and it seemed
for a while
that she was happy
at least it seemed so
by the width of her smile.

Window Dreamin
Lookin out by my window,
Thinking bout you all the time,
Wish you were here with me
Right here by my side,
cause Im window, window dreamin
cause Im window, window dreamin
Every time I find myself on the road
Miss you holdin me tight
Flop down in my easy chair,
Makes me feel alright
cause Im window, window dreamin
cause Im window, window dreamin
(bridge)
Gigs are fun, when theyre done,
Feel so down, act like a clown,
Companys great, but when its late,
Im lookin for the phone
I feel so alone--so alone
Knowin the way we both feel,
O know youre always gonna be my friend
Dig, your face, lord, its real
Someday Im never gonna go again,
cause Im window, window dreamin
cause Im window, window dreamin
(bridge)
Gigs are fun, when theyre done,
Feel so down, act like a clown,
Companys great, but when its late,
Im lookin for the phone
I feel so alone--
So all alone

Open Secrets
Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson
It went right by me --
At the time it went over my head
I was looking out the window
I should have looked
At your face instead
It went right by me --
Just another wall
There should have been a moment
When we let our barriers fall
I never meant
What youre thinking --
That is not what I meant at all...
Well I guess we all
Have these feelings
We cant leave unreconciled
Some of them burned on our ceilings
Some of them learned as a child
The things that were concealing
Will never let us grow
Time will do its healing
Youve got to let it go
Closed for my protection --
Open to your scorn
Between these two directions
My heart is sometimes torn
I lie awake with my secrets
Spinning around my head
Something that somehow
Escaped me --
Something you shouldnt have said
I was looking out the window
I should have looked
At your face instead...
I find no absolution
In my rational point of view
Maybe some things are instinctive
But theres one thing you could do
You could try to understand me --
I could try to understand you...

English summer rain
English summer rain
~
beautiful against my window
with its constant patter
the darkened skies and pavements
awash with the weather
come rain or shine
the is no place like England
home this island
its fields and towns
its rivers and forests
typecast during summer months
with the rain which falls
beautifully against my window
with a rhyming patter
pat, drip, patter

Beautiful Bluebird
One mornin when I was ridin
In my old pickup truck
A beautiful bluebird came flyin down
My eyes caught the color
As it lead me down the road
Dippin and bobbin in the sun
Ive never seen that blue before
cept in one place
And shes not here with me right now
So I followed all the way
To the top of the hill
Thats where she kept on climbin lord
Someday I will
Beautiful bluebird
See how she flies
Looks like shes always goin home
If heaven had a window
Where the sun came shinin through
Like a beautiful bluebird
Id come flyin back to you
Well it kind of struck me funny
Sort of made me smile
After all these years on this old road
How God could show me somethin
Never say a word
Theres so much that I dont know
Ive never seen that blue before
Except in one place
And shes not here with me right now
I followed all the way to the top of the hill
Thats where she kept on climbin lord
And someday I will
Beautiful bluebird
See how she flies
Looks like shes always goin home
If heaven had a window
Where the sun came shinin through
Like a beautiful bluebird
Id come flyin back to you
Beautiful bluebird
See how she flies
Looks like shes always goin home
If heaven had a window
Where the sun came shinin through
Like a beautiful bluebird
Id come flyin back to you

That Unhappy Woman
that is the window
a woman is unhappy and she is always
closing and opening
that window and people keep on looking
figuring out why that window
is unhappy
and they are all happy about the
proclaimed unhappiness of the other
that woman that window
not this woman not this window
not my woman not my window
always looking out somewhere
except this writer
this piece
this one not this one
that one over there not me but her
