Robert Heinlein

The next level in moral behavior higher than that exhibited by the baboon is that in which duty and loyalty are shown toward a group of your own kind too large for an individual to know all of them. We have a name for that. It is called "patriotism." Behaving on a still higher moral level were the astronauts who went to the Moon, for their actions tend toward the survival of the entire race of mankind. The door they opened leads to the hope that H. sapiens will survive indefinitely long, even longer than this solid planet on which we stand tonight. As a direct result of what they did, it is now possible that the human race will never die. Many short-sighted fools think that going to the Moon was just a stunt. But the astronauts knew the meaning of what they were doing, as is shown by Neil Armstrong's first words in stepping down onto the soil of Luna: "One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."

Neil Armstrong-The Astronaut

Wright brothers first started the race,
Then was launched the Sputnik in space.
Twelve years later in the year 1969,
Man set foot on the distant moon—so fine.

Astronaut Neil Armstrong in space craft
Apollo-11 with co-pilot Edwin E.Aldrin were aloft
In space, and victoriously landed on the moon,
Steering their lunar landing craft ‘Eagle', soon.

On the moon near the ‘Sea of Tranquility'
They printed their foot-steps for eternity.
The first person was Neil Armstrong,
To step on moon, and his words, us throng—

"That's one small step for(a) man—
One giant leap for mankind."

His simple sentence was a corrasion,
Above the Earth's national divisions and dissensions
For more than two hours was the moon-walk mirth,
Where the gravity is one sixth that of the Earth.

This Apollo—11 mission successfully made,
Capped a disarrayed and consequential decade.
Back home, Neil Armstrong was in his business,
And in his academia he found good success.

He was remarkable in his vocation,
And who with lot of proud served the nation.
We are now very heart-broken to hear,
That at eighty two he is no more here.

The Moon Remembers the Astronauts

Neil Armstrong arrived first,
Landing the lunar module of Apollo 11
At the Sea of Tranquility
On July 19,1969.
“That’s one small step for man,
One giant leap for mankind”,
He said,
And Edwin Aldrin stood next to him.

Later others came.
In all a dozen men walked on the moon
Perturbing her pristine lot with rhythmic dockings.
Conrad, Bean and Mitchell,
Scott, Irwin, Young and Duke were there,
Strolling in moon dust, before Schmitt and Cernan
From the crew of Apollo 17
Touched down in the Taurus-Littrow valley
On a December day of 1972.

But since then human foot did not step on the moon
And she stares at the frail blue sphere of her neighbor
With the abandoned hills of Hadley Apennines
And a quiet Ocean of Storms.

She orbits the Earth with desolate lunar craters;
A convivial loner, shining unfrequented,
Her arcane face keeps waxing and waning;
And although forlorn, reclusive and remote,
In her silent yellow solitude
The Moon remembers the astronauts.

Through artists mankind becomes an individual, in that they unite the past and the future in the present. They are the higher organ of the soul, where the life spirits of entire external mankind meet and in which inner mankind first acts.

Man's Curiosity Lands on Mars!

Of all the many galaxies,
The Maker chose just planet earth,
The third from sun in Milky Way,
For man to inhabit and thrive!

But man's curiosity didn't stop
By landing upon moon's surface!
One small step of Neil Armstrong meant
A giant leap for mankind's science!

Mars Rover Curiosity
Has touched down upon mars surface,
A feat of engineering skills -
A culmination of efforts!

But why search planets for new life?
Home earth has secrets much concealed;
Why waste money and time so far?
Cannot you develop life on earth?

Though curiosity of man
Is good for scientific research,
All know that earth is best for man,
And yet, they hunt for newer ground!

Kudos to scientists' great efforts!
Man's brain is doing things grandiose;
If only money's spent on earth,
All mankind can live happily!

Mere mankind's pow'rs can't move mountains!
The Omnipotent need to bless;
Man's achievements then bear witness
To Maker's awesome power and love!

Dedicated to all the scientists world-wide!

Immanuel Kant

To be beneficent when we can is a duty; and besides this, there are many minds so sympathetically constituted that, without any other motive of vanity or self-interest, they find a pleasure in spreading joy around them, and can take delight in the satisfaction of others so far as it is their own work. But I maintain that in such a case an action of this kind, however proper, however amiable it may be, has nevertheless no true moral worth, but is on a level with other inclinations.... For the maxim lacks the moral import, namely, that such actions be done from duty, not from inclination.

Early Works - Race For Space

In long corridors of time and space
linger men caught within a race
to get to the stars and back
gaining knowledge that they lack.
Opening door yet unknown to man
finding things untouchable by hand,
but what will happen to the human race
when someone wins the race for space.

Astronauts fly into outer space
helping these men caught within this race
to find the difficult answer
of how to conquer
the unknown out there
far aloft from our atmosphere,
and what will happen to the human race
when someone wins the race for space.

Through the decades, men have pondered
what ship could be propelled
to visit plants and stars
like Jupiter and mars,
and break from earth’s gravity
from which we’re held,
but what will happen to the human race
when someone wins the race for space.

Let's Get Rid of the Human Race! !

Let's get rid of the Human Race!
The world would be a better place
Without it, devoid of any trace
Of the so-called 'Homo Sapiens' disgrace,

It's done a lot of harm, let's face
It! Let's get rid of people now!
I'd like to take a holy vow
To liberate the Earth at last
And make Mankind a thing of the past!

If only Nature could be free,
Unspoilt by either you or me,
Each bird, each mammal, and each tree
Unsullied by machinery.

No global warming and pollution
Changing the course of evolution,
No oil-spills to defile the sea,
That's right! No nuclear energy!

I'd like disease to win the day
And sweep the Human Race away.
Before the rivers all run dry
The Scientific Ape must die! !

Albert Einstein

Innumerable voices have been asserting for some time now that human society is passing through a crisis, that its stability has been gravely shattered. It is characteristic of such a situation that individuals feel indifferent or even hostile toward the group, small or large, to which they belong. In order to illustrate my meaning, let me record here a personal experience. I recently discussed with an intelligent and well-disposed man the threat of another war, which in my opinion would seriously endanger the existence of mankind, and I remarked that only a supranational organization would offer protection from that danger. Thereupon my visitor, very calmly and coolly, said to me Why are you so deeply opposed to the disappearance of the human race

The Frog

Comes to mind as another small
upheaval
amongst the rubble.
His eye matches exactly the bubble
in my spirit-level.
I set aside hammer and chisel
and take him on the trowel.

The entire population of Ireland
springs from a pair left to stand
overnight in a pond
in the gardens of Trinity College,
two bottle of wine left there to chill
after the Act of Union.

There is, surely, in this story
a moral. A moral for our times.
What if I put him to my head
and squeezed it out of him,
like the juice of freshly squeezed limes,
or a lemon sorbet?

Almost a quarter of our planet is a single mountain range and we didn't enter it until after Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin went to the moon. So we went to the moon, played golf up there, before we went to the largest feature on our own planet.

I stand alone away from you desanctified and disfigured

It was a brightly lit afternoon
I saw a four legged machine
Descending on me slowly

I could understand that
It was an airborne vehicle
And it was effectively
Controlled and guided

So nice to see all its four legs
Touched my surface
The same time, making
The landing smooth and gentle

White fine dusts rose
From each point of contact
And I had to cough a bit
In a slight discomfort

From a window of the vehicle
Rolled down a ladder
And there peeped an image
Perhaps, a human being
Finding way through the window
And slowly climbed down
Carefully stepping upon me

“That's one small step for (a) man,
One giant leap for mankind'
I heard a male voice
Yelling his safe arrival here on me

He moved slowly
Jumping each step
Making good use
Of my gentle gravity
Generating a white cloud
Of dust at each step he made

Another similar image also
Came down on me
And both spent about 3 hours
Collecting the powdery white soil
And rocks on my surface

They planted a flag on me
And also a plaque with
Images of a man and woman
As if I did not know
From where they landed

They came from that half lit
Crescent seen on the horizon
Which just reflects sunlight
As I do on it

I know men and women on earth
For centuries now as
Many poets, mostly of Indian origin
Held me high and they gave me
A roll in their storyline

I would be witnessing
Lovers in their intimate togetherness
Or I would be asked to convey
Sweet messages between them
Many heroes and heroines
Shared with me their pains
Of separation from their sweethearts

Indian Astrology gave me
A place in the horoscope tables
developed by them for individuals
And made predictions
Based on the cell I am standing

Old system of medicine
Gauged unsound mental conditions
With my phases
Assurances were given for a cure
As I cross a particular phase

And now I wonder
Why at all these visiting earth folks
Left on my surface depicting
Their images, as if
I have no familiarity with them

This moon landing a giant leap
Of mankind, though
Spoilt my image in the hearts
Of those who made stories
Around me

Lovers no longer look at me
I too feel I have no influence
On the mental performance
Of people on earth
Astrological predictions
Made, based on my positions
In the horoscopes proved otherwise

I have lost my status
Because of that one small step

Just like a reflecting mirror of sunlight
I stand alone away from you
Desanctified and disfigured

Is There Life on Mars?

Up Up Up and Up into outer space
one giant leap for man and the human race,
blasting up towards that heavenly place
did you see aliens or angels face to face?
What's it like to walk on the Moon
do you think there's life on Mars or Neptune?
is time in space really fast or very slow
answers to questions wed all like to know.
When your so high amongst the stars in the sky
are you in awe, do you wonder, do you ask why?
they say you can feel the presence of God
when floating about in your space capsule pod.
From tiny Pluto to the red planet of Mars
Comets, Black Holes, and Shooting Stars,
mysteries and wonders so far away
where twenty four hours don't make up a day.
But after all of these years what do we find?
that there's no other life to worry mankind
but rockets still ascend up so high
leaving us earthlings to ask the question why?

Mankind

As I look up to the heaven, because on earth has nothing more for me.
With bloody hands and sore feet,
To stone face and bread crumbs lips.
It this the end of mankind, or the beginning of a new race....
With vision of my guardian angles
And a bunch of other strangers......
To the evolution of creature, with shocking features...
Is this the end of mankind or the beginning of a new race....
With a high increase of prophet, predicting some crazy event..
With the corruption of human race, to some more out break of natural disasters
Is this the end of the world or the beginning of a new race....
Someone let me know..

Forbidden Territory for M lady Kelly Houseman

I tend my gardens on the moon
The far side which the earth can’t see.
Although I fear that very soon
astronauts will visit me.

I’ll hide my gardens from their eyes.
This is a place they should not be.
This is no time for compromise.
I will repel them forcibly

I value highly solitude
and my hard won serenity
I disdain men’s attitude.
They’re lacking in maturity.

A member of an older race
I’ve paid my dues and earned the right
To protect my own living space
which I keep hidden out of sight.

Intruders I won’t tolerate
I will destroy them instantly
and leave no trace as to their fate.
If they intrude impudently.

I tend my gardens on the moon
with loving care contentedly
and ask from fate one single boon.
No astronaut should bother me.

I live alone because I choose
Preferring my own company
for others I have little use.
In perfect self sufficiency.

They came from another world

They came from another planet
Somewhere deep in space,
To visit this place called planet earth
With a message to the human race.

They came here to warn us
That our world will not survive'
If we didn't take care of our environment
And the very things that keep us alive.

They said that if we didn't heed their warning
The end will be coming soon,
And our world will be devoid of life
And be as desolate as the moon.
