Fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray, that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue, until all the wealth piled by the bondman's two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said "the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether."

6th Avenue Heartache
Sirens ring, the shots ring out
A stranger cries, screams out loud
I had my world strapped against my back
I held my hands, never knew how to act
Chorus:
And the same black line that was drawn on you
Was drawn on me
And now its drawn me in
6th avenue heartache
Below me was a homeless man
Im singin songs I knew complete
On the steps alone, his guitar in hand
Its fifty years, stood where he stands
Now walkin home on those streets
The river winds move my feet
Subway steam, like silhouettes in dreams
They stood by me, just like moonbeams
Look out the window, down upon that street
And gone like a midnight was that man
But I see his six strings laid against that wall
And all his things, they all look so small
I got my fingers crossed on a shooting star
Just like me-just moved on

One Hundred Thousand Marching
One hundred thousand marching
One hundred thousand men
One hundred thousand heading
To a place and a time when
One hundred thousand dying
One hundred thousand cold
One hundred thousand praying
Forever young and never old
One hundred thousand lives were lost
One hundred thousand felt the pain
One hundred thousand maimed and slaughtered
And yet those armies march again.

This Tree -Lined Street/ I Walk Down Everyday
THE TREE –LINED STREET / I WALK DOWN EVERYDAY
The tree- lined street
I walk down everyday
Its beauty-
How long has it been this way?
Twenty? Fifty years?
How many years will it remain?
Everything goes away
A hundred years? Two – thousand years?
All is waiting
To go away forever-
And what will become of all this world?
These beauties we have seen?
Another day. Another day.

In The House Of The Lord!
Here I dwell,
In the house of the lord,
With his only son,
And righteous sword.
Here in his power and grace
His dire wish is that mankind is one race,
You have heard from the house of the lord
His only son, and righteous sword.
Here is the power of the son of man,
Saying, 'We must take a stand! '
The example being from the house of the lord,
And his only son, and righteous sword.

At His Execution
I am made all things to all men--
Hebrew, Roman, and Greek--
In each one's tongue I speak,
Suiting to each my word,
That some may be drawn to the Lord!
I am made all things to all men--
In City or Wilderness
Praising the crafts they profess
That some may be drawn to the Lord--
By any means to my Lord!
Since I was overcome
By that great Light and Word,
I have forgot or forgone
The self men call their own
(Being made all things to all men)
So that I might save some
At such small price to the Lord,
As being all things to all men.
I was made all things to all men,
But now my course is done--
And now is my reward...
Ah, Christ, when I stand at Thy Throne
With those I have drawn to the Lord,
Restore me my self again!

Sonnet: “I am the Lord, Thy God! ”
The Lord has saved my life from death so oft;
How do I thank Him for His kindness great?
He helps in time although my call is soft;
He cared for me so lovingly till date.
He’ as drawn me in the palm of His own hand!
A thousand years is just a day to God;
To righteous souls, He shows His promised land;
To evil ones, He gives His just, stern rod.
How could the universe evolve from naught?
How could life come from lifeless forms sans God?
How could one say ’tis written fate or lot?
Can earthlings ever breathe life into clod?
Can chaos lead to harmony on own?
All things are possible to God alone.

Song of a Thousand Years
Lift up your eyes desponding freemen!
Fling to the winds your needless fears!
He who unfurl'd your beauteous banner,
Says it shall wave a thousand years!
"A thousand years!" my own Columbia!
'Tis the glad day so long foretold!
'Tis the glad morn whose early twilight
Washington saw in times of old.
What if the clouds, one little moment,
Hide the blue sky where morn appears --
When the bright sun, that tints them crimson,
Rises to shine a thousand years?
Tell the great world those bless-ed tidings!
Yes, and be sure the bondman hears;
Tell the oppress'd of ev'ry nation,
Jubilee lasts a thousand years!
Fearless foes, beyond the ocean!
Little we heed your threat'ning sneers;
Little will they -- our children's children --
When you are gone a thousand years.
Rebels at home! go hide your faces --
Weep for your crimes with bitter tears;
_You_ could not bind the blessed daylight,
Though you should strive a thousand years.
Back to your dens, ye secret traitors!
Down to your own degraded spheres!
Ere the first blaze of dazzling sunshine
Shortens your lives a thousand years.
Haste thee along, this glorious Noonday!
Oh, for the eyes of ancient seers!
Oh, for the faith of Him who reckons
Each of his days a thousand years.

That Fifty Year Old Woman
That fifty year old woman
she is someones mother
that fifty year old woman
she is someones lover
them fifty years of her life
unseen by a cover.
Covered by the leaves
from the autumn trees is the grass
surrounded by blue tape
and nosey people who pretend to pass
a group of actors walk by
they have come from a history class
to make history new
with conversation with questions to ask.
A fifty year old woman
in an autumn so cold
a fifty year old woman
seen dark winter unfold
them fifty years of life
it is all we are told.
The actors, they didn't get any information
they did not get pictures
nothing known about the situation
nothing at all to discuss
fifty years of age is all thats said
on the morning paper on the fifty bus
thats all thats said
a fifty year old woman, shes found dead.
That fifty year old woman
shes not someones mother
that fifty year old woman
how she had no lover
them fifty years of life
unseen by a cover.
That fifty year old woman
she was quoted in the paper today
that fifty year old woman will be gone tomorrow
the writers they will show no sorrow
because its the way things work
as people pass
she no longer lies on grass
shes covered in dirt.

A Hundred Years From Now
(Marty Stuart)
When you left I nearly lost my mind
And I tried to drown my sorrow
Every night in warm, red wine
My old heart's broke to pieces
But I'll get by somehow
Cause I won't care, Lord, a hundred years from now
From the top of this old world
To the bottom of the glass
I've thrown away my future
By drownin' out the past
When you walked out the door
Girl, you broke every vow
But I won't care a hundred years from now...
Tonight I'm hurtin'
In an old familiar way
Lord, I've got lots of reasons
Why I come here every day
Lord, I'm tired of lovin' lonesome
That's how old Travis feels right now
But I won't care a hundred years from now...
From the top of this old world
To the bottom of the glass
I've thrown away my future
By drownin' out the past
When you walked out the door
Girl, you broke every vow
But I won't care a hundred years from now...
Lord, I won't care a hundred years from now...

Knight Brotherhood
The metalic clash of bronze,
the sweeping sound of steel.
The first draw of swords,
in their weilder's hands feel.
Through the drawn out years,
a bloody war do we wage.
Only to be recorded,
in a single blood-stained page.
We can never stop,
for no solution can we find.
We are stuck forever,
in this eternal bind.
Once best of friends we were,
now backs turned away.
May this quest for blood finally end,
that much we both pray.
Even With My Eyes Closed
Even with my eyes closed
Funny, how I know
Its harder, its harder now
Young girl
In my young girl days
Thinking I could live for always
But like an ocean tide
Im drawn back inside
And I know
Seasons pass
Like sand inside a glass
And nothing, nothing returns
Standing with the friends Ive made
Ill race them to the grave
Well, who won, who won the extra days?
But like an ocean tide
Im drawn back inside
Like an ocean tide
Drawn back inside
And I know
When you take away the years toll
On the waters wide, shallow high and low
In the autumn sky
Happy to know Im going home
Even with my eyes closed
Funny, how I know
Its finally, has it finally begun?
An ocean tide (whoa)
Im drawn back inside
But like an ocean tide (whoa)
Im drawn back inside
And I know
And I know
And I know

Isn’t It Slightly Strange?
Isn’t it slightly strange that pagans believe that we are deranged?
Our faith built on The Eternal Rock is the one that the pagans mock.
Anything mentioned about our Lord by most people is quickly ignored.
Even though the message we herald changed forever the entire world.
The calendar even changed in years at the time The Savior appeared.
From The Word we know the end, while you sit there lost my friend.
If God’s Truth is such a lie, why did eleven Apostles willingly die?
If faith creates such derision why are so many men drawn to religion?
Why is the Bible still even read if the very God who wrote it is dead?
If religion is such a sham, why do so many people believe in Abraham?
Friend, why do men from sea to sea pray to our God upon bended knee?
While many others fervently call, on a being who is not a god at all?
Religion itself does not save, for most of them are quite depraved.
If on earth there is no curse, why are things simply getting worse?
Friend you think that I’m deceived for in God alone I have believed.
Through His Blood we have peace, from The Lord that will not cease.
We’ve been spared from His wrath, this is not so on your chosen path.
Since you my friend evolved from sludge you don’t believe in a Judge.
But my friend, there is a God, and on your sludge His foot will trod.
You’re on earth you know not why, believing it’s all over when you die.
Keep scoffing at The Lord and in the end you, by Him, will be ignored.
You say only the weak need God, but you my friend will see His Rod.
His Rod and Staff comfort me but His Rod will cast you into Eternity.
You, who have evolved from the mire, will end up in the Lake of Fire.
I have been washed from all sin by placing all my hope square on Him,
And He prepared a place for me so I can be with Him through Eternity.
But for all the raging heathen who without God wouldn’t be breathing,
God has sound reasoning for sending them to Hell eternally seething.

Step Out In Faith
Some seek God’s face both night and day
For months and even years
They’ll kneel and pray and pray and pray
With heart and soul in tears
They know The Lord can do this thing
Their faith in Christ is strong
And so with prayer God’s praise they’ll sing
Believing nothing’s wrong
But faith is not just sitting still
True faith dictates we stand
If through our deeds we do God’s will
Then God will lend a hand
We need to move we need to stir
We need much more than talk
If mighty things will soon occur
We need in faith to walk
Its good to pray its good to praise
But yet there’s so much more
Consulting God in all our ways
Opens many a door
Step out in faith but not as fools
Learn first to understand
Obey The Lord obey His rules
And see God mighty hand
The Lord may love the songs we sing
Our ways are His concern
He’s not a puppet on a string
Nor water tap to turn
Think not The Lord has all to do
When faith has been received
Action must come from me and you
In Him we have believed

Fifty Marbels
Fifty years of marbeles
Pulled from our jars
One by one
Shared with the love of each other
We've watched as the years melted away
Oh how it seemed like only yesterday
When things were all brand new
Now after these fifty years
Whats left in our jars
Are meant for us to renew
All the good times togather
With all those we met on the way
For when the jars go empty
On to the Lord
We'll spend our days

Lady Of The Lake
Today I talked
to the old lady
who lives across the way
she said she died
a hundred years ago today
She told me
of the time she saw me
fishing in the lake
I had to laugh
I said
if You've been dead
for a hundred years
it couldn't have been me
you saw fishing in the lake
I'm not even fifty yet
She said
have you ever seen me
walk out of this garden
or talk to anybody else
I said
you've got me there
but like I said
if you died a hundred
years ago today
it couldn't have been me
you saw fishing in the lake
She said
a hundred years ago today
you drowned trying to save me
now it's time to except
that you are dead

LXXXV
Who are you, reader, reading my poems an hundred years hence?
I cannot send you one single flower from this wealth of the
spring, one single streak of gold from yonder clouds.
Open your doors and look abroad.
From your blossoming garden gather fragrant memories of the
vanished flowers of an hundred years before.
In the joy of your heart may you feel the living joy that sang
one spring morning, sending its glad voice across an hundred
years.

Psalm 37 part 1
v.1-15
C. M.
The cure of envy, fretfulness, and unbelief.
Why should I vex my soul, and fret
To see the wicked rise?
Or envy sinners waxing great
By violence and lies?
As flowery grass, cut down at noon,
Before the ev'ning fades,
So shall their glories vanish soon
In everlasting shades.
Then let me make the Lord my trust,
And practise all that's good;
So shall I dwell among the just,
And he'll provide me food.
I to my God my ways commit,
And cheerful wait his will;
Thy hand, which guides my doubtful feet,
Shall my desires fulfil.
Mine innocence shalt thou display,
And make thy judgments known,
Fair as the light of dawning day,
And glorious as the noon.
The meek at last the earth possess,
And are the heirs of heav'n;
True riches, with abundant peace,
To humble souls are giv'n.
PAUSE.
Rest in the Lord, and keep his way,
Nor let your anger rise,
Though Providence should long delay
To punish haughty vice.
Let sinners join to break your peace,
And plot, and rage, and foam;
The Lord derides them, for he sees
Their day of vengeance come.
They have drawn out the threat'ning sword,
Have bent the murd'rous bow,
To slay the men that fear the Lord,
And bring the righteous low.
My God shall break their bows, and burn
Their persecuting darts,
Shall their own swords against them turn,
And pain surprise their hearts.

O, Do Not Forsake Me
O, do not forsake me, my indolent friends
O, do not forsake me though you know I must spend
All my darkest hours talking like this
For I am one thousand years old
One thousand years old
Sure, you think thats old
One thousand years old
But what do you know?
In my darkest hour Im talking like this
For I am one thousand years old
Oh, some have forgotten the flower of speech
And walks through the garden where I go to defend
Misbegotten notions while talking like this
For I am one thousand years old
One thousand years old
Sure, Id say thats old
One thousand years old
But what do I know?
In your darkest hour, my indolent friends
Well be one thousand years old
