You Might Know A Hero...
Many have been wounded on the
battlefield of life. Wounded, in
their homes, streets and back
alleys of social interaction.
In the battle to survive, are there
more formidable enemies, than
grief, loneliness, illness, poverty,
and lost love?
So many, although seemingly
defeated, by an army of foes,
to opposition of life and living,
fight...go on.
Countless millions, are wounded by
emotional bullets...lethal grenades
of death, taking a loved one... and the
machine gun fire, of cancer and
other devastating diseases.
Yet, with a courage that can not be
measured, these unsung heroes
.go on.
Let there be a Congressional Medal
Of Honor, for life, for those unsung
heroes and their unyielding courage. Let
them know, in their time of need,
we shall provide them with, they emotional
medicine and care they require.
Love, compassion and understanding.
The next time, the word 'hero' is spoken,
look around, for on the battlefield of
life, there are millions, 'of unsung heros.'

Your Hero
The heroes of the masses they live for their renown
And the masses create their heroes and then drag their heroes down
And the masses are unpredictable they change from day to day
And some of their heroes like the Autumn flowers are quick to fade away.
Yet there are millions of unsung heroes and they live on every street
And every day a hero I feel privileged to meet
True heroes male and female yet by the masses unsung
The World is full of heroes of heroes old and young.
Some heroes of the masses are arrogant and proud
And their egos over-swollen from the adulation of the crowd
But give me the unsung heroes who go their own quiet way
Who out of the kindness of their hearts perform one good deed every day.
Many heroes of the masses are not heroes to me
Though every day I walk the street some true hero I do see
Your hero is chauffeur driven and drinks the most expensive wine
And you can have your hero but your hero isn't mine.

Unsung Heroes
Everyday somewhere in the world
another unsung hero is born.
Someone who is willing,
to lay his life on the line
to save another living creature,
on this wonderful planet of ours.
To go out of their way,
and risk life and limb to save something,
from danger and certain death.
These unsung heroes don’t want medals,
glory or even fame.
In fact, most would walk away afterwards,
without anyone ever knowing their name.
It is not that they feel guilty.
They just feel that they haven’t done
anything that is special
or something someone else
wouldn’t have probably done.
Therefore, to all those unsung heroes
this poem is just for you.
For all the lives that you save
each and every day.

I Like Unsung Heroes
'Tis of the unsung heroes I wish to hear
Their names in the newspapers never appear
They don't seek the praise and they don't seek the fame
They keep a low profile few know them by name.
Like the teenager who saved the young girl from the house fire
About him there is so much for to admire
To save someone else's life he did risk his own
Yet the anonymous hero remains as unknown.
Her parents wish to thank him the one they do not know
But for the deserved plaudits he has failed for to show
For to bask in the limelight does not seem his way
As an anonymous unsung hero he would prefer to stay.
I like unsung heroes though unsung they remain
From their acts of unselfishness and bravery they do not wish to gain
Like the teenage house fire hero he surely is brave
The life of a five year old girl he did save.

Salute Wounded Soldier
To serve is a blessing
to battle is a endless honor
to all that served we salute
for the dead we praise their heroism
to drape they coffin with our flag
a 21 gun salute, flags at half staff
we give very little to the wounded
they suffer the most, life ever changing
suffering pain, fighting the nightmares
left to heal, lots to deal with
from the bed they fight for life
pray for healing, what their families are dealing
life changes, minds destroyed, bodies mangled
they fight to survive, strong then life
stronger than us, they will over come
wounds will heal, the nightmares remain
coping with new limbs and faces
proud they stand, Honor they are
Heroes to all, loved by all
thanking for serving, your real deserving
the wounded soldier, the beholder
our deserving heroes, our icons
a salute to all of you
all will not be forgotten
your in our hearts, its an honor
Salute Wounded Soldiers

Heroes
There are no super heroes in this world,
but there are heroes abound.
They are ordinary people
just like you and I.
They cannot leap tall buildings
with a single bound,
or scale walls with their fingertips.
They cannot fly without wings,
nor stop speeding cars
just by standing in front of them.
What they can do and do
is go out of their way to save lives.
They want no recognition
for the risks they sometimes take.
A spur of the moment action
is all their bravery takes.
They put their lives on the line
so others may live,
and then walk away from it
when it is all over
as if nothing happened at all.
These heroes have names and faces,
but are hardly known at all.
They are never out for fame,
just to help another living thing
that may be in distress.
Some are recognised and honoured;
others just go on their way
becoming unsung heroes
who just saved the day.
For all those unsung heroes
who are around us every day
this poem is my tribute
to you one and all
with a big thank you from us all.
You have shown us what real courage is.
You may not be known to many,
but to those you’ve helped
they will always remember you
as being the hero there
when they needed one the most.

Unsung Heroes
Stupidity masquerades
Courage soon fades
Too many lost
Too many of our young
Heroes die too soon
Innocence against fanaticals
Hiding behind religion
Too many lost
Too many of our young
Heroes die unsung

Unsung
Where have all the heroes gone?
Returning where theyre from
Did they touch God or did they touch the sun?
Preperation day!
Fearless desire
Someone will lose by living
Chosen suicide!
Did they touch God or did they touch the sun?
Preperation day!
Selfless act of giving
Many pay the price
Heroes suicide
Unsung
The world we recognize has just begun
Some die from living
So unsung
Preperation day!
Fearless desire
Someone will lose by living
Chosen suicide!
Some die from living
So unsung
Preperation day!
Selfless act of giving
Many pay the price
Heroes suicide
Unsung [x4]

Stealing Your Joy...
Be not depressed. Depression, is the thief of happiness.
Like all thieves', he must be combated and defeated.
Like all thieves', depression must be fought with great
vigor and resolve.
Depression, the dark cloak of reason, that blocks most
rational thought and any chance of happiness.
Depression, an emotional straight jacket, confining the
depressed to an infusion of negativity and haplessness.
Depression, withdrawal of social
interaction and an elongated state of sadness.
Depression, a disease that like a
cancer, eats away at your very being.
Depression, a desperate battle between
living...and merely existing.
Depression, an enemy, that one must seek help
to do battle with.
Do not stand ideally by, for depression,
will steal your very soul.
The enemies of depression, are social interaction, happiness, love, understanding and seeking medication or help in some form. DO IT!

Everyday Hero
He takes the train into the city
To him its more than just a working day
Cause he knows he can change the world in his ordinary way
Shes got a job, she has a family
She tries to keep them both together
Shes barely getting by, saving everything she makes
Day by day it seems its getting harder to win
How much longer, ready for their ship to come in
These are the times of the everyday hero
This is the battlefield of the working man
Trying to survive, staying alive, giving it all that he can
With a fire in his soul that keeps burning
And a dream in her heart that wont die
Living day to day, theres no easy way in this everyday life
They started out as high school sweethearts
He promised her a life of luxury
And though they dont have riches they have everything they need
The eyes of her child are her diamonds
The gift of his love are her pearls
Together they plan, taking a stand to make this a better world
But never breaking, knowing that their dreams will begin
Getting stronger in each others arms
These are the times of the everyday hero
This is the battlefield of the modern world
Theres a spirit inside that keeps us alive, giving it all that we can
With a fire in our soul that keeps burning
And a dream in our hearts that wont die
Living day to day, theres no easy way in this everyday life
Everybody has a special reason
Theres a chosen road to follow
Just remember nothing good comes easy
Dont surrender till you you find your rainbow
These are the times of the everyday hero
This is the battlefield of the working man
Trying to survive, staying alive, giving it all that he can
With a fire in his soul that keeps burning
And a dream in her heart that wont die
Living day to day, theres no easy way in this everyday life
These are the times of the everyday hero
This is the battlefield of the modern world
Theres a spirit inside that keeps us alive, giving it all that we can
With a fire in our soul that keeps burning

Living day to day, theres no easy way in this everyday life

Spirit
‘I died early, ’ said the Spirit,
‘So I didn’t have the chance to learn,
And though I don’t exactly burn
With envy for your thirty years,
It’s such a pity dying young,
The pleasures of a youth, unsung…
For all I left behind of me
Were memories of my mother’s pain
In birth and death,
Though such a breath of time it took,
It’s hard to judge that I had been,
That any could remain.
But for my father’s constant hurt,
His burden through a lonely life
Was such to crush the living breath
Right out of him, but could I see,
And crush the death right out of me.’
‘I hunger then, for knowledge
Of the seven wonders of the world
And nature’s secrets, all unfurled
As life unfolds before a man;
Of seas and skies, and mountains high,
The visions of an inner eye,
And colours I have ever longed for,
Colours I have never seen,
Though I have dreamed,
(Poor substitute it is for truth) :
I need the miracle of sight,
The senses in-between,
Which add your touch and taste and smell
To that of thought, which now I am,
A lonely thought communicating in itself
Its loneliness,
Your knowledge is an untold wealth.’
‘I envy you, ’ I then replied,
‘For ignorance of man’s affairs
Is rarely found,
And one who cares is better off
To never know.
But since you must insist to hear
The seven wonders are but fear
Of War, that selfish slaughter leaving
Millions dead and millions maimed,
And poverty, when countless numbers
Starve to death,
Diseases raging through a stricken land
To our undying shame
And apathy to suffering,
The depths of immorality,
And crime and violence in the streets
That holds a sway on everyone,
Commercial greed is God today.’
The Spirit sighed a troubled sigh;
‘An answer such as this unwanted
Tale of human misery and suffering
I’d not prepared for,
Makes me care for man no less, but
Takes me back and leaves me low.
A thousand years of meditation
On these things may mend my wound,
But now I cry, and go to find
A quiet place…
My innocence will not repair,
Not now or even soon.’
And so he sadly turned away,
In seconds then was lost to view,
I shouted that I meant to say
We still have hope…
But he was gone.
If we have time, I’ll never know!

That Millions Do Live In Poverty
That millions do live in poverty should never be seen as okay
The gap between the haves and the have nots keeps getting bigger by the day
Everyone should have the chance to live happy a home to live in and enough for to eat
There never should be slums and ghettos and never a poverty street,
That millions are born to live in poverty and to end their hard lives in despair
Only tells us if there's a god that god favours the wealthy and that god is not very fair
To leave millions homeless and dying of malnutrition the people condemned to die poor and young
In the refugee camps of the World live the displaced, the poor and unsung,
In the age of celebrity worship the poor in millions multiply
Why millions are destined to be poor don't ask me I wouldn't know why
Even in the World's wealthiest Countries poor people are no longer rare
And millions and millions of have nots in the bigger World out there
And millions are dying of hunger and millions are doing it tough
And millions are displaced and homeless and as refugees living it rough.

The C.F.A.
You ask old Meg McHenry about the C.F.A.
And without them she will tell you she'd be Homeless today
The trees and paddocks around her house left burnt and looking black
But they risked their lives to save her home and they beat the huge flames back.
The Country Fire Authority members their brave deeds worthy of recall
Men and women who risk their lives though their rewards may seem small
Stories of their courage in the gap of danger have been told far and wide
Without them facing the fire front far more homes would be destroyed.
The men and women of the C.F.A. fearless in their fight with fire
They are the unsung heroes and one only can admire
Them for their courage in times of danger death one mistake away
True stories of their fearlessness we hear of every day.
They often risk their lives and limbs for human lives and property
The brave volunteers of the C.F.A. and their services are free
And seventy years old Meg McHenry tells everyone she meet
That only for the fire fighting volunteers she would be on the street

The real heroes
They make the world a better place
just with a kind word or smile
they would give you their last penny
and willingly go that extra mile.
They do it all without a word
not wanting anyone to know
they do it because they care
not like a celebrity with a huge ego.
You cam come across them anywhere
but you may not know their name
there the one's behind the scenes
not wanting recognition or fame.
They are like Angels in human form
just wanting the best for you
these are the real and true heroes
you can tell by the things that they do.
But they don't do it for money
or for a medal pinned to their chest
they do it because they love to help
and to bring hope to the lonely or depressed.
So even though this world can be cruel
and there's misery all over the place
let's remember these unsung heroes
whose good deeds put a smile on our face.
