Strobe lights flashin on the overpass
The tangled steel could not reveal what no one saw
Or how he walked away without a scratch
He thought of her and walked along the exit ramp
He touched the night between two old street lamps.

The Gates of Innocence

Up round St John Street we walked one night, while moonlight brightly glowed,
My arm around you, yours round me, with two friends long ago.
So deep into love’s old sweet dream in moments now long flown,
And like a leaf upon the breeze my heart was not my own.

Oh the road to winning you was fraught, with quicksands all the way.
I sank and swam, I walked and ran, I wooed you night and day,
To simply hold your hand so soft, or gaze on eyes so blue,
In steep green fields at Clachanmore when I worked next to you.

But no moon nor love could quite foresee that I would wriggle free,
Against my heart, against my will, somewhat regretfully.
The roads we walked were soon to part, to sever us for ill,
To leave the Crescent we once walked, to ghosts that haunt me still.

Now the thoughts that circle round me here, they strengthen with the night.
As if the years have fallen to that young love’s breathless might,
Your eyes beguiled the doubting stars and left me void of sense,
Before the moments we fell through, the gates of innocence.

Now the moonlight shines less brightly on the lonely fields we cleared,
And St John Street is not as sweet as when I held you dear.

A Canopy Of Silence

The wings of night
few silently under a silver moon,
lovers gazed into each other’s eyes
as they walked together
under a canopy of silence.

The eyes of night watched
as they walked
and no murmur was heard.
It was if they were enveloped
within a canopy of silence.

The two lovers leant against a tree
entangled in each other’s arms
as the moon shone down on them
and the stars danced in the night sky.
They held each other close

Call It Destiny

As I sit at home in my chair
I think of her as she's not there
Remembering the talks that we once held
As we thought of no one, but only ourselves.
For a moment as though we were just one
Then that moment disappeared and that feeling gone.
We smiled and laughed as we sat and talked
So we decided together, to go for a walk.

As I walked around a local park
Am all alone now and it's after dark
I think of memories that once had been
But now they are gone, as though never seen.
I think of her as she had held my arm
But that was yesterday and that was the charm
We walked not knowing if we were lovers or friends
Wished I knew the beginning, and not the end.

As I reached out to touch a star
As though to hold it from afar
I close my eyes with an opened hand
Then once again I finally understand.
You are not here but your in my sight
Not just in the daytime but also the night
As in my heart, there you will always be
You can call it love, but I call it destiny.

Long back

When you were you

And I was I

We walked together side by side

Trying to keep our thoughts

Hand in hand

Fumbling for sameness

And painting for an abstract future

We walked together awake or in slumber

Holding the thought of togetherness

In the midst of a vortex

Then

When I became you

We walked miles together

Having together a sip of life

Even if it was sweet or elixir

Bitter or with venom

Tasting each other's tears

The band had just started when they walked in the door
He sat her at a table and strolled out on the floor
He grabbed the first sweet thang that gave him the eye

Three dances later she was still in her chair
He was still on the dance floor like he didnt care
