A new experience for Friend Colin
Across the windswept moors there came.
A long drawn out and eerie cry.
What could it be in heavens name?
Another echoed in reply.
I will admit quite openly
I’m not at all ashamed to say.
This eerie wailing frightened me.
I still remember to this day.
When first I heard a vixen cry
as she was seeking for a mate
The dog fox voiced a quick reply.
Which gave me cause to hesitate.
I’m glad to say I persevered
and faced up to the sound I feared.
I saw the vixen easily
and heard her call repeatedly.
I was no longer frightened by
her strange unearthly screaming cry.
Just then the dog fox came in sight.
She greeted him with mute delight.
What happened then I do not know
I felt it only right to go
Now that I had identified
the animals that loudly cried
their needs upon the evening breeze.
I left to let them mate in peace.
Although their cries had frightened me
I treated them respectfully.
I walked as quickly as I could
towards my home, I understood
they had the right to privacy.
There are some things no man should see.

Rescue
I rode a western wind with a girl over to her mothers
In the backyard stars shone brighter than the others
That I rarely see through the smog through the haze that covers
The home that I used to live in
Well I kind of sort of knew what was going to happen
When she put her number down on a restaurant napkin

A wicked trance for a day

When she and a friend came and met me in atlanta

The Old Fox
Vixen was a cunning old fox
her wits had kept her alive
she'd move around a lot
doing anything to survive.
All her cubs had moved out
so now she travelled alone
scavenging along the way
scraps and a bit of meat on a bone.
But she wasn't getting any younger
and her fur was shades of Grey
so she did her hunting at night
and slept throughout the day.
When her cubs came to visit
she was amazed at how they'd grown
but they didn't stay around for long
so once again she was on her own.
She ended up in an old foxes home
with her once red fur completely white
and all her claws and teeth fell out
so she couldn't scratch or even bite.
Her hunting days were now over
and with her cubs now by her side
she told them to keep strong
and closed her eyes and then died.

Sonnet: The Lamb
A Lamb I am, grazing in the meadow,
Nibbling the grass from dawn to dusk my way,
In Mother Nature’s lap from morn through day,
While my time passes off happily tho’.
My shepherd with his staff crooked and long

The Universal Power
God, Goddess, all that is, is around and in all living beings.
It is there in the scent of a flower, in the buzz of a honey bee,
Within the eagle's call as she flies back to her eyrie and her young,

A Newer Day Will Surely Dawn!
For sake of peace, I keep mouth shut;
I cannot be unethical;
I live 'midst vixen, foxes but,
Happen will new miracle!
Four years sped off, leading this flock;
Black sheep exist 'mongst them I know;
For better grazing grounds, I knock;
But time eludes my search somehow!
Sometimes I feel so miserable
For leading such a flock of sheep;
To make ends meet, I'm unable;
