The Story of a Poem (Narrative Poem)

Prepared to ridicule himself, this fool
Is guarded against the jibes
Of those he thinks less inclined to self-criticism.
How then is he to gauge his faults
And turn them into something worthwhile?

How can he define his foolishness
If uncertain as to the extent of his limitations?
How can he begin to accept the advice of others -
'Go jump! ' 'Take a good hard look at yourself! ' 'Grow up! ' -
If he isn't prepared to be objective?

Unprepared to accept objectivity as objective
'I know what I know', he spouts
Ill-mannered, inconsiderate and obstinate.
How is he to assume the more demanding role
Of the one being spoken to?

No words, it seems,
Can convince him of his stupidity.
No words, that is,
Except his own.
Um.... ah.... um.... a poem takes form.

Ironically, loneliness is his theme
Nothing else can say what he wants to say.
Happiest is he, when miserable
Exposing his misery for all the world to see.
No one, it seems, is quite as miserable as he.

He takes care not to say too much
In case,
To make his point
He admits (in the mode of a tragic figure)
That there is nothing to say.

Logically, 'there is nothing to say' explains
His actions
Although failing to describe
What bothers him.
It seems that that can only be other people.

In them, real feelings express themselves
And a challenge presents itself for him to understand them
No matter
It is they not understanding him
That concerns me.

As querulous as it may sound
It is their obsession with 'reality'
That he objects to.
No amount of persuasion can convince them
That his feelings are real.

'Such as absurd notion demands an explanation'
He hears them say, but he is only prepared
To go on dreaming -
Observing others observing him
Observing them.

His sincerity
Isn't expressed in conventional terms.
Unbeknownst to them, he cares
And unknowingly they add to his suffering
As they refuse to acknowledge his feelings.

His suffering -
A product of a trivial pursuit
For universal meanings -
Is compounded by those who think him
Lacking.

***

Lacking in those human qualities
He most desires
He turns to someone, who,
Without her knowing,
Possesses them for him.

Kindly, she admits him -
Herself lacking the assurance
To comprehend the extent of his need.
She feels for him
As one would a child, an innocent, a poet.

His feelings exist in her eyes,
And his failings form
His 'uniqueness' -
A reason
For loving him.

Sufficent reason, in itself,
For him to love her.
Nevertheless he feels
An even greater need
To justify his feelings.

Their differences,
His reliance on her
And, equally,
Hers on him
Need explaining.

As others see it
Their differences contain the germs of disunity,
And in their interdependence, signs of submission.
Again they see things in 'real terms'
Neglecting to take into account the power of the imagination.

She isn't what she appears to be
Her beauty transcends experience
With all pain absorbed in her -
He shares in her happiness
And is privy to her sensitivity.

She instills in him a new faith,
Another reason to write -
A belief in humanity.
This is what he must explain
To those who think him foolish.

But he remains aloof
Barred by a certain quirk in his character -
Whenever he tries to be serious
He gives the impression
Of being insincere.

When he tries to explain his feelings
It's as if he is the one
Who needs to be convinced -
His new found faith seems void
Without someone else to believe it.

Yet people want to listen
And give him the chance he's been looking for -
The chance to prove himself to them.
They're not heartless,
And would rather not judge anyone unfairly.

The truth is, however,
That he is such a fool
That he needs to hear his own words
From someone else's mouth
Before he can believe them.

Hard Feelings

Written by billy burnette and jeff silbar.
Now Im supposed to understand
Dont you think youre asking too much
What kind of fool do you think I am
Dont you think youve hurt me enough
Still you want to be friends
But I dont want to be just friends
So before you start with your sympathy
Just turn around and go
And if he breaks your heart, dont come crying to me
I wont be there anymore
Go ahead and cry your tears
cause Im not gonna dry your tears
Ive got hard feelings
When it comes to you and me
And these hard feelings
Just wont let me be
These hard feelings run deep
These hard feelings run deep
Ill be alright, dont you worry about me
Ill take care of myself
The first thing I need is you out of my life
The last thing I need is your help
Sorry I met you
Sorry I met you
I will forget you, someday
Ive got hard feelings
When it comes to you and me
And these hard feelings
Just wont let me be
These hard feelings run deep
These hard feelings run deep
Ive got hard feelings
When it comes to you and me
And these hard feelings
Just wont let me be
These hard feelings run deep
These hard feelings
Hard feelings
When it comes to you and me
And these hard feelings

Know Your Feelings

Know your feelings.
Sit and visit with them.
Become familiar.
And...
Connect to their depth.

Learn the playing of the game.
Beyond the setting of changing goal lines.
Accept those things learned and adapt.
And grow accustomed to observing facts.
And not focus on the colors...
Of that which has been installed,
To get you tossed off the playing field.

Know your feelings,
And become flexible with them.
Beyond the setting of your own goal lines.
Be prepared to adapt.
Become flexible and patient.
Know your feelings and get as close as possible.

No, No, No,

Last night woke in bed
In a cold cold sweat so sweaty so funky
Dreamin' of bad things to be or not to be
Haunting things like homelessness all the lonely people
Without a job car or food to eat
Leaves you a little bit paranoid well well
Can you spare a dime
But it reminds me how easily
We let our fears affect who we are
No no no can't come back
No bad feelings no no no
No sad feelings no no no
No jealous feelings no no no
No insecure feelings
No no no can't come back
No ill feelings no no no
No jealous feelings no no no
No ego trippin' no no no
No insecure feelings
No no no can't come back
Had a friend in desperate need
Of a little attention compassion you see
Did i mention that friend was me nope
Who'd just broken up from a love affair well well well well
I must admit i was truly hurt
And i couldn't change the facts and that's a fact
He loves her more than he loves me
And it's truly just as simple as that
No no no can't come back

Salt Is.... Just Salty

There's so much in this world I cannot explain
The greatest scholars try in vain
Not because the knowledge is so loft
Not because we're growing soft
Nor because it's abstract
But in fact
Quite the opposite
Because some words there's just not a definition that can fit
The problem doesn't come from the objects
It's the simplicity that does perplex
Even the wisest of us all
Our logic does fall
Because it is so far below
How do we define the? What about slow
There's salt, and memory, and even know
What do we know if we don't know such words
People complain of jargon, taxonomic names for birds
But they can't even define what's simple
With that problem, man we got our hands full
We just cop out
Said that salt is salty, the is the, we live without
A real definition, but I think it's those words that are most profound
Belief, God Truth the list goes on, but this is where true wisdom is found
There's the trivial we can seek define
Or there's the words that matter most which will define
Us, it's those words I think that we should not just verbalize
But instead simply realize
That the definition is known by experience
It's indescribable because they're just that amazing
Our inexperience
Of what's unimportant is as tragic as not knowing
Our own Father, and the pursuit of other things to define us
Is as trivial as looking for a definition of truth.

Maybe

For a long time
I have been an admirer
Of yours
For decades
Yet my feelings for you
Have not faded
So much has changed
Through the years
LPs to CDs
VHS to DVDs
Land phone lines to cell phones
Nothing has remain permanent
Except for my feelings for you
So real and so true
Even if these feelings
Grows into nothing
It won't change a thing
After all these years
Of having these feelings
Inside that won't subside
And yet these feelings still manage to survive
They won't go away
No matter how much
I try
Maybe it will always
Forever be unfinished business
Of something that has yet to begun
So I will continue to
Keep these feelings tuck away
Just in case! ! ! ! ! !

Such Feelings

Late at night it is and feelings are so relaxed. Thinking about nothing other than people who have cared about me. I am thankful to everyone who has loved me. These words are only for love and nothing else. No pain I feel because sometimes words have got to be sweet. This lovely emotion of care is for everyone who has thought about me with feelings of love. Just want to cherish love and the sweetness of it. To describe love is simple because it is an emotion of purity. Such feelings never do ever end.

Yield

i was downstairs
in the greenroom
waiting for you
to appear
i said hello
to your family
i said hello
to your friends
i said hello
to this situation
that never yields
now it's easy
for me to tell you
that my love for you
is sincere
but i once stumbled
on these feelings
(on these feelings)
and i once stumbled
on these words
(on these words)
something you
don't ever stumble on
dear
yeah you were so
baroque
all those words
just to tell me no
and you were so
soft spoken
with all of the others
who said you weren't broken
oh they just let you go
yeah you were so
baroque
all of those words
just to tell me no
and you were so
soft spoken
with all of the others
who said you weren't broken
oh they just let you go
when you're three days
down the highway
and you're looking
like i feel
and it takes a lot
(takes a lot)
to keep it going
it takes a lot
(takes a lot)
to keep it real
take some time
(take some time)
for yourself
and learn to yield

How much I love you

Only God knows how deep
my feelings for you go
and sometimes it’s difficult
to tell you.

How do you say
that’s how much
I care for you,
if there’s nothing
to measure it against.

Ridiculous it may sound,
but at times
words fail me.
.
It’s you, it’s you that I cherish
are words from somebody else
and for me it’s only singularly you
and no other
that I truly want to love much more.

How can you know
exactly what part of you,
your darling loves
and what causes
somebody to adore you?

Or is it something deeper
and much more
that binds people together
and cause that the I and me and you
together becomes us?

Sometimes you ask me to say
how much I love you
and I wonder against what,
must I measure it for you.

Can anybody somewhere gather
all the water of the sea
and give size and depth to it.

Who can catch the wind
and hang words on it,
or really determine
the extent of the sun
and moon and stars

Where must I find words
to say what the extent is,
of that which lies between us.

All that I know
Is that depth and size
of my feelings for you,
are totally unfantomable.

To Women As Far As I'm Concerned

The feelings I don't have I don't have.
The feeling I don't have, I won't say I have.
The feelings you say you have, you don't have.
The feelings you would like us both to have, we neither of us have.
The feelings people ought to have, they never have.
If people say they've got feelings, you may be pretty sure they haven't got them.
So if you want either of us to feel anything at all
You'd better abandon all ideas of feelings altogether.

Combustible

Ready and prepared to react,
While diminishing reason to listen...
Presents its own consequences.
And those conditions moving further away,
From common sense.

Those on campaigns to spread negativity...
With hopes to gain and win,
Over some nonsense that had started with them.
Will discover at the end,
No peace of mind comes at all.
With choices made...
Determining to forcifully begin.

They may have solicited advocates for their cause...
But minds quick to form judgements
Are the ones to become sickened,
By participating in any of it!
To produce for another a public fall!

Ready and prepared to react,
While diminishing reason to listen?
One should sit and give this thought.
Time alone can heal all wounds.
But those feelings surfacing to bring harm upon others...
Will delay an affect,
On a mind never again to know the meaning of rest!

And there should be enough evidence around,
In abundance
For anyone to observe.
Inflicting needless pain upon others...
No one lives to deserve!

No one should be served,
Blatant disrespect!

But like all things today?
Words can are spoken...
To be used as jokes
To leave provoke brokenness.

Few are heard,
With a meaning one chooses to hear!
People seem transfixed to bring others,
To their knees in tears!

Fools feeding on a high octane of ignorance.
Combustible!
To then expect,
Rushes to flush them with forgiveness!

US was always Real

Baby It's Real

The feelings and tears are real

The tingly feelings in my stomach when i hear your name

The moment when were alone and all we know it's just you and me

Baby It's Real

Long lasting phone calls

The laughs, Holding hands

Seconds, minutes, hours seem to feel like forever when i'm with you

Baby It's Real

NO doubts

NO jealousy

ALL TRUST

Baby It's Real

.....and when i saw you in the altar looking at HER,

knowing I walk away hearing those two words

Giving you one last look

All i know that

Baby US was always real

Faith-walkin People

Well, it seems with you
There is something new
Every time I turn around.
Oh, I never really know quite what to expect,
But it wont get me down.
cause I know you bring
Each and everything
Just to teach me how to live.
And the secret of it all is trusting in you,
And the wisdom you give.
So say goodbye to the feelings,
cause the feelings go away.
Say goodbye to the people,
cause the people never stay.
And say goodbye to the future,
When it blinds you to today.
And say goodbye to the reasoning
Thats standing in the way,
Oh, weve got to break away.
Break away to be
Faith-walkin people,
You cant rely on everything you feel.
Faith-talkin people,
We must discern whats really real.
Faith-walkin people,
You cant believe in everything you see.
Faith-talkin people,
Seems like such a mystery.
Daaa...da ba da dah-dat dah.
Da ba dah...da ba da dah-dat dah.
Da ba lat-dah dat dah.
But in all the earth
There is nothing worth
Half as much as life with you.
cause the people and things were countin on here,
Theyre gonna pass away too.
But I dont understand
Everything hes been,
But I dont really have to know.
cause hes giving me a joy thats filling my heart,
But Ive learned to let go.
So say goodbye to the feelings,
cause the feelings go away.
Say goodbye to the people,
cause the people never stay.
And say goodbye to the future,
When it blinds you to today.
And say goodbye to the reasoning

Feelings Have No Age

Feelings have no age,
feelings have no distance.
With coming years you become a sage,
only real love is your existence.

Your body feels more,
your heart beats faster,
your taste is sharper than before,
your soul becomes a master.

Feelings have no age,
they become even stronger.
Your love doesn’t live in a cage,
it has no time to ponder.

Feelings have no age,
if you love you don’t have to repent.
You have a big revenge,
if your heart and soul are in content.

Feelings have no age….

For The Humanity's Peace

Who knows how do we feel
We are the art lovers we breath feelings
Our strength is the love of the humanity
Our most valuable possession are our emotions
The honesty of the feelings are our wealth

We pour down our feelings upon white papers
We try to draw down our aches.others pain with colors of our emotions
An expression of a happiness or a love and the most the time about others broken smile
Because we are the most people who really care for others pain

We are the artists the peace and humanity lovers
we pour down our emotions to an empty white papers
To write down a poem
To protect others rights we forget our's
Our feelings are our values
And for humanity's peace we do care the most.

Awe Of Life

Focus on life, on all of life, your good dreams, the feelings, aliveness, the sublimeness, the beauty, love, meaning, wonder, such alive real dreams are life of life, they are you, more than you as well as ahead of you, making real your share of paradise now. Actively be with them, put into meaning, into understanding, into discernment the painful, hurt, dark, complex emotions, feelings while you hold onto your good memories, experiences, feelings, your joyous experiences are the digestive enzymes of the negative. One is light the other is substance. You only grow, you only get stronger, only wiser, when you face both. That is how the good is released into this world; that is how you truly stand in this dwelling place from your soul. This is the only way this world as well as your next world is made real, more humane, more fulfilling to our real many deep and not so deep desires, more spiritual. I do not have to tell you what happens when you become one-sided.

So Much More

You're so much more to me
Than words can tell
Or the actions that you see
Beautiful, amazing, lovely, honest, loyal these words describe you well
But fail to show you for what you are
High above like a star
You're more than enough for me
But I can no longer hide
And just be friends, my feelings are so much greater- let them be
I just want to spend my life by your side
Because this love of mine I give to you
You who
I praise and adore
Yet no word and no action and no loving phrase
Could give you enough praise
Or do justice to my boundless love for you! But my heart is sore
And cannot wait
My love is too great
If only there was some word to describe the depth of
Of... my love, my love for you, how could I explain this love?
Because it's more than word and deed
More than a need
This love I have is more
So much more, three words will have to suffice so listen close
The only three words I know to express my love so lean in
I love you

I Want You To Go, Please Go

please go now

it is dark and you need sleep

you are tired, you are disturbed, and i do not want to be the reason

for your disturbed feelings

leave me alone

i always have to suffer alone

it is my season of pain, it my turn to be miserable

i will be alone in this and you cannot be of help

no one can

it is me finally caught in my own world of loneliness

the world that i write about so many times described in all

my poems

please go now, i do not want to see a beautiful person like you crying

let there be no tears

and sobs

a gentleman like me still has dignity

let me have the honor, the opportunity to go in peace

to the world that i can no longer write and talk about

because it will be indescribable

because there i am no longer myself

but another being

perhaps with wings and with feelings which are so light

like floating and drifting clouds.
