The Sky Or My Reflection?
The sky above me is blank
and it's empty!
It's not like the beautiful sky
that saw me
over the waterworks
beyond the fields
The sky
that merged into the water
and created a vaccuum in space
towards the left side of the bridge.
and for a moment,
ended the differences between the mighty heavens and the lowly earth
and for a moment,
made me feel the unity,
the being and the nothingness.
It's not like that dark starry sheet
that mesmerized me on the mountains,
and made me wonder
about the infinite galaxies
that might be staring back at us,
and made me forget the swirling road
in front of me,
and made me happy.
Its not like that womb of the virgin moon
that covered the ocean,
that transcended into the web of my thought
and very nearly inspired me to drown.
This sky, however, is blank
and dusty
and it seems to fade away
into an unknown oblivion.
It seems to have lost its reason to live.
It seems to be dejected, miserable.
...or maybe its me.
My eyes, that see it so!
Perhaps it is me
I have never been this gloomy
That night when the sky
was bright
with beautifully lit stars,
infinite shiny scars,
we had walked by the shore
tracing an infinte bewildering pattern
in the plains high above in space
the sky was happy, that night.
that morning when I woke up
and thought that in a petty bollywood flick
someone had given a nice remedy of calming the nerves
and I had stood before the rising sun
to rejuvenate my senses
The sky was a clear blue blanket
The sky was happy and full, that morning.
But today
when
I trudge on a dusty road,
on a dusty afternoon,
fatigued and tired,
finding a lost way
that leads to the place I call my home,
the sky is blank
and miserable
there are no birds up there today
no wisps of furry clouds
just vast dusty emptiness
no tender curves
just blunt edges
....or is it me,
my eyes, that see it so?

Blank Walls
it is time to have blank walls
something to start with
where you are more careful with
what to write and
what to draw
you think twice, thrice
before you start your scribbles for
you once drew a cat
and it didn't work well with the dog
which she drew first
you should have talked to her
so everything that you plan
to put on this blank wall
might as well have harmony
& peace & beauty, like the way
she painted her own blank space
with all black colors, and she gave you
an impression of the darkest night
you tried to put some stars and
a full moon to brighten the darkness
of her thoughts, and perspectives
she did not like it
she was in deep mourning, she was very sad
depressed with what happened
when she was a young girl in their house
she set aside the stars and she told you she hated the moon
and you kept your silence and opted to put there the whispers of
wind and the hush of the sea
again she did not like it
the wind made her vomit and the sea made her very sick till
you finally gave up
with the way the blank wall had been painted
and the manner by which she wanted to take it all to herself
you know what was really proper
you said there is still a blue boat on the blank wall
and it is leaving soon finding a new world..... now sailing on

Today! !
Today the sun was shine less
Today the moon was mood less
Today the birds were wing less
Today as the sun rose, they told me
Today as I woke
They told me
Last night I’ve lost my voice they echoed me
Today the mountains are height less
Today the clock was time less
Today the sky was wind less
Today my hands were workless
Today as the sun boiled, they told me
Today as I spoiled
They told me
Last morning I’ve lost my hands they assured me
Today the world was sightless
Today the room was lightless
Today the voices were figureless
Today my eyes were imageless
Today as the night dived, they told me
Today as I defined
They told me
Last afternoon I’ve lost my eyes they cursed me
Today the era was soundless
Today the room was noise less
Today the things were strike less
Today my ears were voice less
Today as the dawn fell, they told me
Today as I felt
They told me
Last evening I’ve lost my ears they pitted me
Last night I was voiceless
Last night I was hand less
Last night I was eyes less
Last night I was ears less
And now today I feel
That they’ll tell me
That I’ve lost, they’ll yell me
Lost a heartbeat
And now is grave less
Left in open far godless
Unmentioned they say expressionless.

Dusty Road
I walk the line, look straight ahead
A second chance, one slip and its gone
Though the bird has flown, the sands of time stand still
Scars that never heal, wounds you always feel
Keep on walking that dusty road, blinded by the flame
Keep on walking that dusty road, never giving in
A single light, you hold your breath
Your heart beats fast, a skin that burns
Maybe the tide has turned, one goal you know is near
And wish of a thousand nights, voices you always hear
So keep on walking that dusty road, blinded by the flame
Keep on walking that dusty road, never giving in

Fade to Black
Do you think of me
or am I just a forgotten memory
like the others before
when you look back
do I cross your mind
this love you made so blind
or does it just fade to black
Should I still feel this way
like it was only yesterday
I watched you walk away
As I travel down
this empty highway
I fade to black
Tell me was he hard to find
or did it just come so easy
the first time he made you smile
Do you look at him
to see me standing there
do you just not care anymore
as you watch another day
fade to black
As I drive another lonely mile
farther from you on this dusty road
do you ever miss me at all
baby, just for a little while
while you watch the night fall
in that big open sky
do you ever cry
or just fade to black
So many nights pass us by
still my arms are empty
while he's holding you tight
loving you til the morning light
my love rolls down a one way track
yeah, I look back
you're nowhere to be found
I try to turn around
I fade to black
Do you think of me
girl, how you lost your best friend
or do you try to pretend
I was just a beginning to an end
as you fade to black

Words On Dusty Surfaces
we’ve seen words
various, common and different
fingered on dust;
words you can wipe away
I’ve seen often enough,
for example,
on a teacher’s dusty car at the school car park:
Wash me!
or cheeky words written
on a dusty street window:
Peep in!
and this morning, I saw one
on the back of a van before me:
I’m happy. Are you happy?

Sunrise On The Road
1) sunrise on the road Im feeling high today
Will you ride with me into the night
If I didnt know where I was going to
Would you say that it could be alright
2) we broke down and ended up in new orleans
Saved our souls with an evil groove
Marie laveau was gazing in her crystal ball
Saw my eyes were hazy from the road
3) I walked through the city with my empty glass
Filled it with the mystery of the past
A thousand people danced into the morning sun
This forever feels like it could last
4) walking through the streets down in the marony
Swirling dancers in the second line
Swept me to a place Ive seen in fantasys
Somehow I think I lost track of the time
5) & so I left new orleans with a photograph
Of a thousand miles we left behind
& I saw the city fading in my rear view mirror
Hazy as the road began to wind
6) sunrise on the road Im feeling high today
Will you ride with me into the night
7) we broke down and ended up in new orleans
She took our souls just looking in her eyes
The moon was falling down into the eastern sky
Dreaming as the sun began to rise... (3x)

The Road to Dohinob
it used to be a narrow road
fit only for the buffalo
muddy during the rain
and dusty during a sunny day
but today
the Road to Dohinob
is the one that leads to
heaven
along the road the flowers
sings
like the angels of his dreams
from where he is now
he imagines the long narrow path
expanding a bit
giving way to more space
for his new life
with her
at the tip of this wider road
he hears
the baby laughing
the skies are lighter than the usual blue
and the sunflowers are brighter than the stars at night
his heart cannot muster a word
for this newly found
happiness
overflowing.

0046 Jewel of Blood
A fine morning and the side-streets empty
then turning the corner,
in the middle of the road
a pigeon - grey-mauve, plump and feather-perfect,
one wing half-spread in flight,
sprawled sideways,
dead
and at that moment the sun shone
cruelly
on the blood that shone on the dusty road by its head,
a jewel, redder than any red,
that shone like a message
as if it were the blood of the world itself
so rich, so rich...
and I felt guilty
that I saw it so beautiful,
that jewel from the heart of a dead dove
of peace,
and thought I should suppress the thought...
and, now, that further thought which hovered in its train
that this whole world in such a jewel of blood,
more precious than a ruby, or than gold, or much fine gold,
a jewel beyond price
is what a devotee at communion or at Mass...
while cool reason
(what has reason to do with this?)
countered
well you value your own blood above most things
don't you? Why not a pigeon's?
but all words spent and poets silent and associations dropped
and thoughts at rest,
that pool of blood
in the winter sunlight that shone on the dusty street
was just so beautiful.

You Made Me Happy
When I walked you home that night
The vibe was absolutely right
The sparks were flying left and right
Jesus I was happy
We talked and talked of this and that
Nothing more than vapid chat
I don’t remember what was said
More than words were talking
On and on we went like that
Playing off and bouncing back
So rare a thing to feel like that
You made me happy
Starry eyed and laughing
As we said good night and parted
And I floated helium hearted homeward
God you made me happy
That night when I went to bed
I couldn’t sleep my buzzing head
Was wondering what would happen next
And guess what, I was happy
That was now a month ago
I’ve seen you come I’ve watched you go
I’m wondering what the future holds
And how to make you happy.
I’d shower you with lies and gifts
I’d move the earth if we could live
Together you and me like this
Great God I’m happy.

After The Wedding
After a Wedding
After the wedding when the happy couple
stood on the old church steps to have their
picture taken and a throng of people where
jousting to be in the frame too, I walked
around in the church and found in a corner
a white but dusty marble Virgin Mary.
Her eyes were demurely downcast: I said:
“We’re alone you can open your eyes now.”
Was it just my imagination, caused by my
longing to believe, that I saw an eyelid flutter
and a half smile play upon cold, dusty lips?
….Pale as limestone I rejoined the throng.

Blank
Blank pages, blank lines
Blank heart, blank mind
Blank feeling, blank soul
Blank high, blank low.
I dont know why
You just cant see
That all you've ever known
Is the blank side of me.
The Blank Space Inside Us
there are blank pages
some say that it is a must that something must be drawn
words to be written
thoughts to stifle, capture,
stuffed,
there is a day that you prefer
to keep a blank sky
a dark sky without stars
no light
when you close your eyes
you are at home with this blank page
words become
invincible
but they are all there
perfectly correct
well viewed by the eyes of your heart
somehow you go beyond
your every
day fences
move away, jump and run towards
an island of light
a patch of green grass
still no stars
pure blank
it is when you do not believe in the power of thoughts
when what preoccupies you
is nothing when you are finally one with all
space
it is too peaceful to even dropp a word
like a pin on
a shiny floor of tiles....

New Morning
Cant you hear that rooster crowin?
Rabbit runnin down across the road
Underneath the bridge where the water flowed through
So happy just to see you smile
Underneath the sky of blue
On this new morning, new morning
On this new morning with you.
Cant you hear that motor turnin?
Automobile comin into style
Comin down the road for a country mile or two
So happy just to see you smile
Underneath the sky of blue
On this new morning, new morning
On this new morning with you.
The night passed away so quickly
It always does when youre with me.
Cant you feel that sun a-shinin?
Ground hog runnin by the country stream
This must be the day that all of my dreams come true
So happy just to be alive
Underneath the sky of blue
On this new morning, new morning
On this new morning with you.
So happy just to be alive
Underneath the sky of blue
On this new morning, new morning
On this new morning with you.
New morning . . .

I Must Have Been Sleeping
'Where are you going, ' I heard her say
As the dream took me straight to the core,
We parked at the side of a very long road
And I got out the driver's door;
'I've never known that, ' I replied, and she sat
On her hands, with the pain of surprise,
'So what you've been saying has never been true! '
The tears rose up in her eyes!
'The road has been long, the road has been wide,
I never knew where I could turn.'
'I thought you were happy with me, ' she said;
There was nothing to say in return.
'I must have been sleeping for seventeen years, '
My voice sounded foreign and coarse,
But I couldn't handle the sighs and the lies,
Or the terrible sound of - 'divorce! '
I walked to the wood at the side of the road,
And followed the pathway around,
I couldn't look back now I'd made up my mind
Though I walked unfamiliar ground,
The clearing was quiet, the birds didn't sing,
A mountain rose up in my view,
I suddenly saw there was no going back
To the comfortable life that I knew.
I cast off my shackles and took a deep breath,
To breathe in both freedom and pride,
My strength was returning, and clearer my eye,
I walked with a bounce in my stride,
The years fell away, I was thirty again,
I stopped then, and sat on a stone,
For darkness was gathering there in the gloom
With that terrible feeling - alone!
I thought of the woman I'd left on the road,
Who'd always been faithful to me,
The tears that she'd shed for a love that was dead
Made me sad, and ashamed to be free,
I thought of the comfort she'd given me when
All my world started going insane,
She'd cooked and she'd cared, and she'd loved and she'd shared
And I'd given her nothing but pain.
I turned on the track, and I made my way back
But I couldn't see where I had been,
I stumbled through thickets and walked into trees
And I fell on my knees on the green.
'I am lost, I am lost, ' I cried into the night
Then I heard her voice, dim, by a tree
And woke to her stroking my face and my brow
As I cried… She was waiting for me!

Heaven
I see a turning wheel
On a dusty track
Caught in the void and empty space
In between there and back
And the paradise of going somewhere
Thats still so far away
Happy, boy you bet I am
Holding on to this smile for just as long as I can
Heaven
Its all bright in front
And its all dark behind
Living for the now thats in between the bridges
And the signs
And getting there is still a long long way to go
While the others dream
This is all I officially need to know
Happy, boy you bet I am
Holding on to this smile for just as long as I can
Heaven

For You My...(ambot)
this morning baby i take my walk
it rained last night
and the other nights before
and so today baby
the grass is greener
the road is not dusty
not also muddy
just perfect for this
'brand new' day in my life
i made some promises
to myself
not to think about your face
and your body
i haven't kissed you
i haven't made love to you
just in my dream
all but just in my dream
and this morning i take this walk
for you
wanting to forget
wanting to walk straight in the other
mornings of my life
i will make a promise again
that so surely
will be broken again baby
you're such a dust that i can't
take off my feet
very weary, weary feet
taking these walks
senselessly
hopelessly always always
crazy about you.

(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Man
Looking out on the morning rain
I used to feel so uninspired
But when I knew I had to face another long, long day
girl I used to feel so tired
Before the day I met you
life had been so unkind
but you're the key to my peace of mind
'Cause you made me feel, you made me feel
you made me feel like a natural man
When my soul was in the lost and found
you came along to claim it
I didn't know, I didn't know just what was wrong with me
till your kiss helped me to name it
Now I'm no longer doubtful of what I'm living for
but if I make you happy I don't need to do more
'Cause you made me feel, you made me feel
you made me feel like a natural man
Oo baby, baby look what you have done to me
Can't you see that you made me feel so good inside
Don't you know that I just want to be
close to you, you made me feel so alive
'Cause you made me feel, you made me feel
you made me feel like a natural man
Baby I ain't doubtful of what I'm living for
but if I make you happy I don't need to do more
'Cause you made me feel, you made me feel
Well you made me feel like a natural man

Where Corn Don't Grow
(Roger Murrah/Mark Alan Springer)
As we sat on the front porch
Of that old grey house where I was born and raised
Starin' at the dusty fields
Where my daddy worked hard every day
I think it kinda hurt him when I said Daddy
There's a lot that I don't know
But don't you ever dream about a life
Where corn don't grow
He just sat there silent
Staring at his favorite coffee cup
I saw a storm of mixed emotion in his eyes
When he looked up
He said Son I know at your age
Seems like this ol' world is turning slow
And you think you'll find the answer to it all
Where corn don't grow
Hard times are real
There's dusty fields
No matter where you go
You may change your mind
'Cause the weeds are high
Where corn don't grow
I remember feeling guilty
When Daddy turned and walked back in the house
I was only seventeen back then
But I thought that I knew more than I know now
I can't say he didn't warn me
This city life's a hard row to hoe
Ain't it funny how a dream can turn around
Where corn don't grow
Hard times are real
There's dusty fields
No matter where you go
And you may change your mind
'Cause the weeds are high
Where corn don't grow
You may change your mind
Oh the weeds are high
Where corn don't grow

Birthday Blessings
The sun got out of bed
Swam across the ocean
Just to shine on you today
The wind climbed mountains
Endured dusty deserts
Just to blow on you today
The birds organized their orchestra
Traveled to nearby trees
Just to serenade you today
The rain descended high heavens
Bowed at your feet
Just to refresh you today
I join all of nature in wishing you
A blessed birthday today
