The sister rocks
The sister rocks woke up
To the sun's golden touch
Their delicate fingers
Reached out, reaching,
Beyond the temple towers,
Into the translucent sky
Fond sisters they were
In close familial bond
Their smoky eyes filled
With slowly sun-melting dew
Their sisterly shadows
Lengthened luxuriously
Over night-weary shrubs
As hundreds of other shrubs
Were being set on fire
On the edge of their world.
(Two giant rocks in Hampi stand leaning towards each other at the top, their silhouettes looking like two fond sisters hugging each other. Hence the name “sister rocks “)

Get Your Rocks Off
by Bob Dylan
You know, there's two ol' maids layin' in the bed,
One picked herself up an' the other one, she said:
"Get your rocks off!
Get your rocks off! (Get 'em off!)
Get your rocks off! (Get 'em off!)
Get your rocks off-a me! (Get 'em off!)"
Well, you know, there late one night up on Blueberry Hill,
One man turned to the other man and said, with a blood-curdlin' chill, he said:
"Get your rocks off! (Get 'em off!)
Get your rocks off! (Get 'em off!)
Get your rocks off! (Get 'em off!)
Get your rocks off-a me! (Get 'em off!)"
Well, you know, we was layin' down around Mink Muscle Creek,
One man said to the other man, he began to speak, he said:
"Get your rocks off! (Get 'em off!)
Get your rocks off! (Get 'em off!)
Get your rocks off! (Get 'em off!)
Get your rocks off-a me! (Get 'em off!)"
Well, you know, we was cruisin' down the highway in a Greyhound bus.
All kinds-a children in the side road, they was hollerin' at us, sayin':
"Get your rocks off! (Get 'em off!)
Get your rocks off! (Get 'em off!)
Get your rocks off! (Get 'em off!)
Get your rocks off-a me!

Where Are The Lionheart
Destiny took me in her arms and told me:
"You're a little lost on the fall.
You fall for all the men
You shouldn't fall for all at all."
Ooh, I know she knows, but still I go on,
Well, I'm a fool.
Climbing up the ladders
To slide down the adders
On the rocks,
On the rocks,
On the rocks,
On the rocks...
Joan of Arc walks into my mirror,
A burning sword.
I'd like to cry.
I look into her eyes.
I see she's seen the long days and night.
"Ooh," she says,
"The games are still the same, I see,
But they've changed the names now.
Are all Lionhearts put in parks, apart?"
Lionhearts in the asylums,
Lionhearts tossed at sea,
Lionhearts who've lived their lives, like Arthur.
Lionhearts in cathedrals,
Lionhearts at mournings,
Lionhearts in every seed
But they're sown
On the rocks,
On the rocks,
On the rocks,
On the rocks...
Somebody I couldn't see
Tied me up and put me away,
Here on the rocks,
Here on the rocks,
Here on the rocks...

Sister Love
I know we're not sisters
But it seems like we are
We have a special bond
No matter how far
As I grew up
You were always there
No matter what happened
You were always near
When I was little
This was my thought
We're not real sisters
But you're the closest I've got
That thought's still here
And it always will be
But with our baby sister
We're a group of three
But now I know
You'll always care
Though things seem different
This bond we will share
With you as a sister
We did everything sisters could do
So no matter near or far
Our sister love is true

The Rocks
I was a timid little antelope;
My home was in the rocks, the lonely rocks.
I saw the hunters scouring on the plain;
I lived among the rocks, the lonely rocks.
I was a-thirsty in the summer-heat;
I ventured to the tents beneath the rocks.
Zuleikah brought me water from the well;
Since then I have been faithless to the rocks.
I saw her face reflected in the well;
Her camels since have marched into the rocks.
I look to see her image in the well;
I only see my eyes, my own sad eyes.
My mother is alone among the rocks.

Never praise a sister to a sister, in the hope of your compliments reaching the proper ears, and so preparing the way for you later on. Sisters are women first, and sisters afterwards; and you will find that you do yourself harm.

My Sister, My Dearest Friend
You're the best sister I could have asked for
I pray thanks to god, that he gave you to me
We laugh together, and we cry together
We play and we fight
But in the end it's all alright
Your my sisterly companion, my partner in crime
You're my trustee confidant
We keep each others deepest secrets safe
And even though we're cousins by law & blood
We're sisters at heart, which is where it counts =]
Simply because you're my sister and you're my friend
Thank you so much for being the best sister I could EVER have!

My African Sister
My sister is an African nun
that sits below grass houses
and rocks babies
until the sun goes down.
She pounds grain
into a fine powder and
shoos the flies away
from the faces of children.
She never puts her head
down to rest.
My sister wraps the babies
tight within the confines
of cobalt swathing,
and occasionally she spits
out the poisons she
inhales.
The children surround
her as she sings in her
native tongue, her tales
of life would scare us
three times or more
The horrors of skulls
that are just beyond
her door, and the way
they made a rabbit
bleed would make you cry.
When my sister speaks
of death, she rocks the
babies slowly. She is
not frightened
when the sounds
of night are right
outside her door
While some others sleep
she is working, cleaning,
taking the children down
to the river, giving
bread to hungry mouths.
My sister's hands
fold for a simple prayer,
African mantra of the night,
never stopping, only knowing
that her babies need her.

Rocks In My Bed
My heart is heavy as lead
Because the blues has done spread
Rocks in my bed
Of all the people I see
Why do they pick on poor me
And put rocks in my bed
All night long I weep
So how can I sleep
With rocks in my bed
Theres only two kinds of people
I cant understand
Theres only two kinds of people
I cant understand
Thats a deceitful woman
And a hard faced man
She took my man away
And aint goin bring him back
She took my man away
And aint goin bring him back
Shes lower than a snake down in a wagon track
(bridge)
I got rocks in my bed
I got rocks in my bed
Rocks in my bed
I got rocks in my bed
Under-loved, over-fed
My mans gone, so instead
I got rocks in my bed
Under-loved, over-fed
My mans gone, so instead
I got rocks in my bed

You're a Sister, My Sister
To my sister Julia, who will do great things...
We never had planned this
We never tried.
You're a siter, my sister,
And I still ask why.
All the fighting and noise
And pulling hair;
You're a sister, my sister,
And it's just not fair.
We're sisters, and sometimes
I regret it.
Yet because of you, I'll
Never forget it!
BUT...
Through our ups and downs
This much is true:
You're a sister, my sister,
And I still love you.

Kingdom Come
Well I walked in the pouring rain
And I heard a voice that cries its all in vain
The voice of doom was shining in my room
I just need one day somewhere far away
Lord I just need one day
Well Ill be breaking these rocks
And cutting this hay
Yes Ill be breaking these rocks
Whats my price to pay
Well the rivers so muddy, but it may come clear
And I know too well whats keeping me here
Im just the slave of a burning ray
Oh give me the night, I cant take another sight
Please, please give me the night
Well Ill be breaking these rocks
And cutting this hay
Yes Ill be breaking these rocks
Whats my price to pay
Sun keeps beating down on me, walls a mile high
Up in the tower theyre watching me hoping Im gonna die
I wont be breaking no rocks
I said I wont be breaking no rocks
(I wont be breaking no rocks) oh-oh-oh
(I wont be breaking no rocks) oh-oh-oh
(I wont be breaking no rocks)

Sisters, Sisters
Sisters, sisters
There were never such devoted sisters,
Never had to have a chaperone, no sir,
Im there to keep my eye on her
Caring, sharing
Every little thing that we are wearing
When a certain gentleman arrived from rome
She wore the dress, and I stayed home
All kinds of weather, we stick together
The same in the rain and sun
Two different faces, but in tight places
We think and we act as one
Those whove seen us
Know that not a thing could come between us
Many men have tried to split us up, but no one can
Lord help the mister who comes between me and my sister
And lord help the sister, who comes between me and my man

The Rocks And The Cliff In Front Of Me
the rocks in front of me
are layered like sheets of paper works
a load i must suppose for
centuries unread
the grasses of the desert
have come to cover
a part of the history of their
shale
i am the shadow at noonday
asking
what these rocks can do for me?
or shall i say
rocks, rocks, boulders of rocks
tell me the heaviness of your
burden
tell the secrets of your
strengths
the echoes keep on rebounding
sounding like the
laughter of a madman
asking the questions and
figuring out the answers
from the same sound

Long Wait To Hug You Oh Sister!
COME OH SISTER!
LET'S PLAY
YOU CAN'T FEEL
HOW LONG I WAIT
I LEARNED
WHAT DESPERATE IS
JUST TO SEE YOUR
FACE
HOW IT WILL
GIVE A FEEL
WHEN I WILL TOUCH YOUR
SMALL FINGERS WITH ZEAL
SHE IS MY SISTER
I WILL SCREAM
AND HUG YOU
AND CLOSE MY EYELIDS
AND WHEN WE
WILL RUN TOGETHER
IN THE FIELDS
WITH HAND IN HANDS
THE WORLD WILL SEE
THE BOND
BETWEEN US
ITS ALL I WISH
LONG WAIT
LONG WAIT TO HOLD YOU OH SISTER!
STILL I WAIT
LONG WAIT TO HOLD YOU SISTER..

Gray Cliffs And Gray Skies
on a foundation of
giant boulders of rocks
in the desert
of Saudi Arabia
where the grass are
resilient to
heat and change
the gray cliffs rise to touch
the gray skies
as though
they are on a conference
for something bigger
than the giant rocks below
and higher than the
heights they have achieved
something must be so
important
like the need for rain
and seeds
and men and women
with thick callous hands
to work for them

Sister Power
Sister Sledge,
Made their pledge,
To family.
It's a part I love,
To take happily.
It's a big deal,
I am delighted.
Like the Pointer Sisters.
I am so excited.
I am not saying,
That it's a bad thing
To have a brother.
I am just saying,
That sister power,
Is like no other.
It's one of the
Greatest rewards.
Like a sweet melody,
By Mary Mary,
The God in me,
It makes me want to get up,
I could never get enough.
Gospel group the Clark Sisters,
Who's has been at it for years.
Let me tell you mister,
I love the fact that
I have sisters! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

I want to go to the highveld
I want to go to the highveld,
go and stand next to the green hillocks
and see how aloes
hit red sparks out of it.
I want to look up into the thin blue sky,
at night look at the bright stars
as if I can pick Orion and the sisters
and like marbles stroke my hand over them.
I want to walk in the red sand,
tread barefoot tracks
and even if the sand burns my feet
I want to leave marks that betray my presence.
When the thunderstorms arise
I want to see lightning bolts breaking on iron rocks,
see blue sparks spraying over the rocks
and hear the roaring clap as if God Himself is speaking with me.

Rock Me On The Water
Oh people
Look around you
The signs are everywhere
Youve left it for somebody other than you
To be the one to care
Youre lost inside your houses
And theres no time to find you now
Well your walls are turning
Your towers are burning
Gonna leave you here
And try to get down to the sea somehow
The road is filled with homeless souls
Every woman child and man
Who have no idea where they will go
But theyll help you if they can
But everyone must have some thought
Thats gonna pull them through somehow
While the fires are raging hotter and hotter
The sisters of the sun are gonna
Rock me on the water now
Rock me on the water
Sister will you soothe my fevered brow
Rock me on the water
Ill get down the sea somehow
Oh people
Look among you
Its there your hope must lie
Theres a seabird above you
Gliding in one place
Like jesus in the sky
We all must do the best we can
And then hang on the that gospel plow
When my life is over
Gonna stand before the father
And the sisters of the sun are gonna
Rock me on the water now
Rock me on the water
Sister will you soothe my fevered brow
Rock me on the water
Maybe Ill remember
Maybe Ill remember how
Rock me on the water
I said the wind is with me now
So rock me on the water
Ill get down the sea somehow
Rock me on the water
Sister will you soothe my fevered brow
Rock me on the water
Ill get down the sea somehow
