The Shopping Trolley Man

Every day for eight hours or maybe more
He walks up and down through the car park by the big food store
On the lookout for unreturned shopping trolleys for each one he returns a dollar is his pay
The most he might earn would be thirty dollars a day.

An ageing man of three score and ten maybe
By the big food store he is one you always see
To supplement his pension the unreturned trolleys he takes back
Despite his age in the will to work he does not lack.

His given name i do believe is Stan
But all of the locals know him as 'the shopping trolley man'
Tall and slightly stooped with gray beard and silver hair
Out of what he does he will never become a millionaire.

For the effort he puts in so little is his gain
He is there every day in sunshine or in rain
Yet one might say he's a hardy old boy
And what he does he does seem to enjoy.

To his toilsome task he remains ever true
And credit him since credit he is due
For each unreturned trolley he returns a dollar he is paid
Than this there's easier money by far to be made.

Rx Queen

I wont stop following you
Now help me pray for
The death of everything new
Then well fly farther
cause your my girl and thats alright
If you sting me, I wont mind
Well stop to rest on the moon
Well make a fire
Ill steal a carcass for you
Then feed off the virus
Cause your my girl and thats alright
If you sting me, I wont mind
Cause your my girl and thats alright
If you sting me, I wont mind
Now lookout

Lookout - sting

And I hear crying
You turn newborn baby blue
Now were all the virus
Your my girl and thats alright

Friday Night Shopping

I went to do the shopping at the Supermarket Store
Couldn't find a trolley - so hunted round some more:
I dashed around the car park searching every trolley bay
And at last, with the one with the wonky wheel, I was on my way!
Inevitably, I met someone I'd not seen for a while
So we parked our trolleys in the middle of the aisle
Just to make shopping that bit harder for everybody else
Isn't it a pain when everyone just thinks of self/
We had a conversation about this and that
I was really pleased to see her and enjoyed our chat.
Eventually I reached the checkouts where the fun begins'
To search for the "right queue" and start unloading all my tins.
In front of me was a lady, quite mature.
She'd be quick, I was absolutely sure.
Then her cash could not be found amongst papers and all kinds of dockets
In one of those wretched handbags with about fifteen pockets.
I was glad to leave that store - I'd finished work at five - got home at seven
Sat down with a cuppa' which was pure magic, just sheer heaven!

The Dollar Stores Feb 6th 2011

There’s some guy or girl out in China right now making stuff,
For me and you in the dollar store and it’s never enough,
Inside a plastic package that’s very hard to pull apart,
How did all this come about and when did it all start?

And they usually have enough cashiers so I can get out,
Not like some stores where a lack of cashiers put me in deep doubt,
But the dollar store passing multitudes, seem cheerful enough,
Although they have to sell one hell of a pile of dollar stuff.

I just hope the present national relationships persist,
And we don’t start behaving like the others don’t exist,
And the dollar stores remain where they are for a long long time,
Because at the dollar store, you can save a lot more than a dime

Ode To Costco

Oh Costco,
kingdom of bulk.
If I didn't have you, I'd sulk.
Food samples, shopping carts,
ha you'll beat all the other marts.
24 pack haha try 36,
This store won't go in the mix!
Sam's Club is for fools,
everybody knows Costco rules.
Food in bulk and bulk galore,
You'll always be my favorite store.

Shopping

Were buying and selling your history
How we go about it is no mystery
We check it with the city, then change the law
Are you looking forward?
Now you want some more
Were s-h-o-pp-i-n-g, were shopping
Its easy when you got all the information
Inside help, no investigation
(no investigation, investigation)
No questions in the house, no give and take
Theres a big bang in the city
Were all on the make
Were s-h-o-pp-i-n-g, were shopping
Were s-h-o-pp-i-n-g, were shopping
Our gain is your loss, thats the price you pay
I heard it in the house of commons: everythings for sale
Were shopping
Were shopping
Were s-h-o-pp-i-n-g, were shopping
Were s-h-o-pp-i-n-g, were shopping
Ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah ah
Ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah ah
Were s-h-o-pp-i-n-g, were shopping
Were s-h-o-pp-i-n-g, were shopping
(were shopping
Were shopping
Were shopping
Were shopping
Were shopping)

Last Dollar On Earth

Yeah!
Line up!
Step right this way to see the last dollar on earth
Sign up!
The bus leaves today to see the last dollar on earth
Behold the wonder of the modern age
Displayed resplendent in its gilded cage
Theres not another in the world today,
And you just cant take it with you
All night!
Theres a special tonight about the last dollar on earth
Thats right!
And all the pundits were right about the last dollar on earth
Its always occupied a special space
We keep a guard around it just in case
Many have died to have its fleeting grace,
But you just cant take it with you
Get set!
Only one pint of blood
To see the last dollar on earth
No sweat!
Only one ounce of flesh to touch the last dollar on earth
When we lose exposure in its permanent enclosure
Then you can be sure that well take it on tour
So when it comes to call at your local shopping mall
Though the crowds may be large,
You can put it on your mastercharge

Shopping Without Edgar Allan

We will always shopping go
Without Edgar Allan Poe.
We go shopping, hopping, hopping,
From this store to that.
Edgar Allan was a Poe
Who never ever had to go
Shopping.

O.K., and so perhaps I lied,
And so perhaps his lovely bride,
Annabelle Lee and he
Went shopping, like
The rest of us.

The Shopping Cart Lady

She walks towards me, pushing everything she owns
In a shopping cart with wobbly wheels
Her entire life stuffed into a four wheeled basket
The well dressed ignore her, she doesn't exist

And even though she's not asking for money
I give her all of my change, a dollar or more
Buy yourself something to eat I tell her
I will, she smiles with missing teeth

I see her, sometimes more than once a day
And I wonder what brought her to this
I doubt I'd be able to survive like her
If her misfortune also became mine

Sometimes when I see her I want to ask
What happened that you ended up this way?
I don't and not just because of the fear
That the same thing could happen to me

So I just mind my own business
And give her some money when I can
Knowing that one day she will disaappear
Her shopping cart taken over by another

Homeless, she still smiles and laughs
Never have I seen her sad or crying
Does she save her tears for midnight
When nobody would be there to see

I can spend hours in a grocery store. I get so excited when I see food, I go crazy. I spend hours arranging my baskets so that everything fits in and nothing gets squashed. I'm really anal about it, actually.

where did I park my car?

1
where did I park my car?
I’m sure I left it here
on this level
just hours before

had a coffee at the center
caught up with some friends
watched a movie
and bought some stuff for home
and now I can’t find my car
though I’ve searched past 10 minutes

where did I park my car?
I’m sure I left it here
on this level
just hours before

no, that’s not mine
that’s a Mercedes;
that one’s too shiny;
and maybe it’s this one
- no, mate,
we won’t go any nearer
this car is too clean
mine will look like
it’s not been washed since Noah

where did I park my car?
I’m sure I left it here
on this level
just hours before

2
well, yes, help me look out...
it’s an old Nissan
blue faded into white;
no, nobody ‘ll steal that
and the only people
who’d give it a second look
will be the traffic police
who’d wave as if to say:
Pull over, Sir;
let’s have a look at
your rego and front tyres

now, where did I park my car?
I’m sure I left it here
on this level
just hours before

well, damn,
I’m sure it hasn’t moved
it’s not that sort with smart technology
self-park, self-drive or with sensors;
it’s like an old useless dog
completely lost without its master

where did I park my car?
I’m sure I left it here
on this level
just hours before

now that we’ve looked
about 30 minutes or more
I’m not sure if this is the right level;
Oh, did I stop at Yellow Level
or Blue or Green or Pink?
was it level 1 or 2 or 3 or 9?
it’s completely out of my mind

where did I park my car?
I’m sure I left it here
on this level
just hours before

ah, there it is
that old boneshaker;
thanks mate, for helping me look
You were saying you want a lift –
yes, come - I'll dropp you…no trouble…
yes, it’s just on the way…
Hey…Where you going?
What? Don’t want a lift?
You’d rather walk home?
Hey, what’s wrong with my car?
OK, suit yourself…
at least I found my faithful car…

where did I park my car?
it was Level 5, Yellow Sector
Lot 125
all the while
and that beauty was here each second
an old helpless dog, waiting for its master

In fifth Avenue

In the mornings I see Jane passing
and how she walks away,
in the street
and gets smaller and smaller in the distance

The lingering afternoon hours
slowly past
and the postman
draws the barking dogs,
before he rides leisurely
away with his bicycle.

When the sun gets low in the late afternoon
and I park behind the house,
I hear a gate opening
and she greets while she walks by.

Very well I contradict myself
knock myself out

won't settle for a knockoff

21st Century Shopping Mall

Built on a day in sin
Sand, girders and tin
Prefab shopping mall
For a working class clientele
Everything for sale
With chemist and optician
Open 24/7
All made in heaven.
...............................
Soc ial gathering if you like
Star parade caked music.
Push your food around Mike
.................................
Pref ab shopping mall
The Vatican
A pilgrimage every time
The Notre-dime.
..................................
Walk down towering isles
To marry a barbeque
With blessed burger
You become the Pope
In prefab shopping mall.
......................................Checkout!
A gorgeous honey bun
With e numbered eyes
Or male hunky spunk
Wearing organic hair gel
Loving your food to death
Into recyclable bags
Or do it yourself
With smiley friendly computer scanner
Serving a mega ram lip service.
..................................... .
However much you pay
Sacred food should stay
You cannot ever leave
Our God blessed sanctified
Prefab shopping mall......

David O's thrifty shopping advice

Christmas shopping to me
is like a walk in the park
The method I use is
So easy and slick

But it is best done
late after dark
And requires no money
this simple trick

You simply go out
And do some window shopping
With a mask, a bag,
And a brick

Fly Jeans

You say can we go shopping
For what is my reply
some new jeans that my friend just bought
They make her look so fly

I say lets go, do you know the store
And please don't make me choose
Before we go I'm telling you we're not shopping for shoes

I take a slow, long deep breath
As we walk in the store
Dam your friend has rich tastes
My wallet's felt this pain before

You squeeze into the fly jeans
As you turn around and say
Does my bum look big in these babe
Now I should run away

Does my bum look big in these babe
Once again I hear you ask
No it don't my darling
It's the fat around your ass

Junk Food Junkie

Johnny's got an addiction
He's strung out without conviction
He was raised with a microwave
Sticky trashy fast food slave
He's a junk food junky
He could be a lot more spunky hunky
But he's a junk food junky
Blame it on the food yeah, you know it's bad
Mother doesn't really know
Shopping in a glossy show
Then again her budget's low
Her health so bad it makes her slow
She's a junk food junky
She's stressed and very jumpy
She's a junk food junky
Blame it on the food yeah, we know its bad
Blame it on the food yeah, we know it's bad
Jenny's in a fix
With her arithmetics
Poor concentration
Boys in the classroom cause agitation
She's a junk food junky
She could be a lot more fun
But she's a junk food junky
Blame it on the food yeah
Blame it on the food yeah
Blame it on the food yeah

Overweight with Food

Are you just a tub of lard and
Vastly overweight?
Do you think that when you die you'll
Need a piano crate
To act as coffin for your frame? -
Chosen as you die in shame, with
Only you to take the blame
For years of eating much the same:
A daily calorific fest
Gourmands of your ilk digest!

Is your heart in final fling and
Nearly set to burst?
Are your arteries bunged and clogged and
Feeling now the worst
For wear? - your aneurysm fit to blow
While blood as thick as rising dough
Cries 'Halt! ' to any hope of flow:
A dreadful state to put on show
In front of any nurse!
Best you hail a hearse.

The View From My Wneelchair

In Asda
Much faster
Long aisles
High piles

In Morrisons
The sorry ones
Scuffed shoeses
Trapped toeses

In Tesco
It’s all go
Every little counts
As my food pile mounts

In Sainsbury’s
We’re busybodies
For bargains galore
Throughout the store

And me with MS
I’m a nuisance to shoppers
Ignored by some
Pitied by the dumb

And I don’t like shopping!
