The Diadochi

When word was brought that Alexander was dead
In Babylon, gossips said it was not true;
For if that demigod spirit had shed
So vast a corpse, its corruption then through
The whole world would reek; men from Carthage
To India would pause and sniff the air,
That by the stench declared the End of Age
Like an incense-wafted funeral prayer.
Yet he was dead, and in time earth did stink
With the metal tang of blood. Forty years
His funeral games were held, and men did think
His dying crueler than his life. More tears
And blood they shed, his diadem to strive,
Than he had spilled in Asia, when alive.

The Bellman

BRING out your dead before you reap
From lips beloved infection dread;
Above such brows ye dare not weep!
Bring out your dead

Into the street from breast or bed,
Lest ye too sicken into sleep
That recks not of the Bellman's tread.

Thrice foolish heart! Why do you heap
Corpse upon corpse--conspire to spread
Corruption on all else you keep?
Bring out your dead!

Up From Under

Well Im down here in the well
Looking back up at the hill
Well I thank heavens I fell
Must look more
Like myself
Now everyone is so kind
Everyone looks like
A long lost friend of mine
Im on top of the world again
When Im looking
Up from under babylon
I had a home in the fields
Earned my wage in the factories there
And I was raised by the mill
And I worked with my brothers there
I told my mother Id always write
I headed west for the coast
With the big city lights
Now mamma Im so sorry Ive forgotten
But now Im looking
Up from under babylon
Now tell me how far Ive been
And how deep was I in
Tell me how I conceived
The vanity to believe
That I would not be outnumbered
By the thumbs I have been under
Now stray dogs in the street
Learn how to beg, steal, borrow and cheat
And in the dead summer heat
I fell asleep with blood on my teeth
But those days before I met you girl
Were just ice cream falling down
On the shoes of my world
Im so happy that youre my friend
When were looking
Up from under babylon
When were looking
Up from under babylon

A walking corpse

I walk around like a zombie.
A reflection of a corpse.
Like Im in a body thats not mine.
A body depression has invaded.

Im a reflection of a corpse.
So numb and dead inside.
Not being able to feel.

Trapped in a body.
That once used to be mine.
Now its like its someone elses.

Im a walking corpse.
So very dead inside.
As numb as numb
Number than Ice.

Depression has over road.
And overtaken me.
Its made me like a walking corpse.
I may aswell be dead.
Thats how I feel inside.

A excellent resembalence
Of a walking corpse.

Mabey I can fight it
But that I very much doubt.
I have had to fight to many demons.
One more I cant fight this yet.

Im a walking corpse.
Dead inside.
A marvolos resembalence.
Of a walking corpse

Herman Melville

Dirge

We drop our dead in the sea,
The bottomless, bottomless sea;
Each bubble a hollow sigh,
As it sinks forever and aye.

We drop our dead in the sea,--
The dead reek not of aught;
We drop our dead in the sea,--
The sea ne'er gives it a thought.

Sink, sink, oh corpse, still sink,
Far down in the bottomless sea,
Where the unknown forms do prowl,
Down, down in the bottomless sea.

'Tis night above, and night all round,
And night will it be with thee;
As thou sinkest, and sinkest for aye,
Deeper down in the bottomless sea.

Babylon

Babylon has fallen! Aye; but Babylon endures
Wherever human wisdom shines or human folly lures;
Where lovers lingering walk beside, and happy children play,
Is Babylon! Babylon! for ever and for aye.
The plan is rudely fashioned, the dream is unfulfilled,
Yet all is in the archetype if but a builder willed;
And Babylon is calling us, the microcosm of men,
To range her walls in harmony and lift her spires again;
The sternest walls, the proudest spires, that ever sun shone on,
Halting a space his burning race to gaze on Babylon.

Babylon has fallen! Aye; but Babylon shall stand:
The mantle of her majesty is over sea and land.
Hers is the name of challenge flung, a watchword in the fight
To grapple grim eternities and gain the old delight;
And in the word the dream is hid, and in the dream the deed,
And in the deed the mastery for those who dare to lead.
Surely her day shall come again, surely her breed be born
To urge the hope of humankind and scale the peaks of morn --

To fight as they who fought till death their bloody field upon,
And kept the gate against the Fate frowning on Babylon.

Babylon

Forever, youll be remembered as the one who played it cool
Whenever they speak your name theyll say its you who broke the golden rule
But heres what I really want to know
Did you see the writing on the wall
Chorus:
Babylon
How long can this foolish magic carry on
Babylon
Who will love you when the fantasy of youth is gone
Babylon is it true that your streets were paved with gold
And did you play beneath the stars
Babylon did you know it would all come down to
How you played the dealers cards
Remember how you loved the laughter
A kingdom on the rise
Crys in the night would turn you to song
And when they call ooh you sang along
Heres what I really want to know
Did you see the writing on the wall
Babylon
How long will this foolish magic carry on
Babylon
Who will love you when the fantasy of youth is gone
Babylon is it true that your streets were paved with gold
And did you play beneath the stars
Babylon did you know it would all come down to
How you played the dealers cards
Its over you rate two pages in some book
Your legacy
Lost in the night and still you sing your song
For those who will take heed
Heres what I really want to know
Did you see the writing on the wall
Babylon
How long will this foolish magic carry on
Babylon
Who will love you when the fantasy of youth is gone
Babylon is it true that your streets were paved with gold
And did you play beneath the stars
Babylon did you know it would all come down to
How you played the dealers cards...

Babylon Feeling (feat. Carlos Santana)

My heart is broke, my will is gone
Fell in love with a woman named Babylon
She hook me to the gills
All of her forbidden thrills
I call her baby for short then I ramble on
She'll forget about me
My soul is high, my mind is free
Met a shorty with some back call her destiny
She showed me all my fates
My stream of conscious navigates
I orbit around the sun at high velocity
Don't forget about me
Don't forget about sweet things
Won't you save my soul
Pretty lady, won't you take me home
Sweet things
Won't you save my soul
Pretty lady, won't you take me home... tonight
My arms are heavy, my body's tense
Got the hots for this honey named confidence
She points out all of my flaws
Breaking all of her favorite laws
Never speaks a word in my defense
Just forget about me
My spirit's weak, my lust will thrive
Got a thing for this bitch
Said her name is a lie
She controls me with her fear
My prayers fall on her cold deaf ear
She says have a good time and take your dive
Just forget about me
Just forget about
Sweet things, won't you save my soul (Yeah)
Pretty lady, won't you take me home
Sweet thing won't you save my soul (Yeah)
Pretty lady won't you take me home... tonight
I've got a Babylon feelin'
I've got a Babylon feelin'
I've got a Babylon feelin'
I'm feelin' Babylon
My heart is broke, my will is gone
Fell in love with a woman named Babylon
She hook me to the gills
All of her forbidden thrills
I call her baby for short, then I ramble on
And I ramble on
I've got a Babylon feelin'
I've got a Babylon feelin'
I've got a Babylon
Feelin', Feelin', Feelin', yeah
I've got a Babylon
Feelin', Feelin', Feelin', yeah
I've got a Babylon
Feelin', Feelin', Feelin', yeah
I've got a Babylon
Feelin', Feelin', Feelin', yeah

No One Questioned the Reek

When behavior they 'then' expressed,
Was not addressed...
But to some questionable?
Those of responsibility could have stood up,
To the plate.
No one did this.
But many bit down to chew!
And...
Instead,
An appreciation for that was shown.
With a bowing to lower eyes and heads.

Mixed signals were sent.
And deceit and devilment...
Were given carte blanche signals,
Not to slow down with caution...
But to move like blinded bulls,
Charging through halls...
Where precious crystal and china were used.
And no one confused a 'no' with a 'go'!
In fact...
Honors were given.
And some medals bestowed.

Some folks were given carte blanche signals.
For more of this to be exposed.
And it showed.

And they did...go!
Taking 'everything' with them,
To an humongous cellpool!
A deepened hole...
Where rooms were added.
And pretensions glowed!

With a renovation to extend the existing stench.

Guests were invited and asked to adorn masks.
No one questioned the reek.
It was as if an acceptance grew.

No one questioned the reek.
It was as if an acceptance grew.

No one questioned the reek.
It was as if an acceptance grew.

No one questioned the reek.
It was as if an acceptance grew.

And it did!
No one hid.
Deceit was done,
And everyone told...
Their bigger 'fibs'.

But...
No one questioned the reek.
It was as if an acceptance grew.

No one questioned the reek.
It was as if an acceptance grew.

No one questioned the reek.
It was as if an acceptance grew.

And it did!
No one hid.
Deceit was done,
And everyone told...
Their bigger 'fibs'.

And...
No one questioned the reek.
It was as if an acceptance grew.

No one questioned the reek.
It was as if an acceptance grew.

No one questioned the reek.
It was as if an acceptance grew.

No one questioned.
No one questioned.
No one questioned the reek.

The Arbiter

We lie and cheat the game
Corruption's everywhere
We try to buy our justice
Lies are hard to beat
When our days are over
Cross the great divide
The final day is coming
He knows wrong from right
Cut out the way it has been done
Just keep the fear inside
Nowhere to hide nowhere to run
Your life is on the line
Take the word of the arbiter
He always gets it right
Take the word of the arbiter
If it's left or if it's right
With him there's no objection
You can't have a deal
The word he says is final
Punishment's for real
Talking - never moves
You hear it in your head
Body shaken terror
And he cuts you dead
Take the word of the arbiter
His word s always right
Take the word of the arbiter
Nothing left and nothing right

Child Of Babylon

(coverdale/marsden)
When I heard the sound of thunder
On the day that I was born,
I was blinded by the lighting
An baptised in the storm
My father started crying
When he saw what he had done,
But, my mother started praying
Have mercy on my son,
He is a child of babylon
I am a child of babylon,
Lord have mercy on a wayward son
Nowhere to hide, nowhere to run
I am a child,
A child of babylon
When Ive fooled around so many times
When Ive known it aint been right,
But, I paint it all in colours
When it really should be black and white
I sail my ship through muddy waters,
Try to open every door,
When I saw the seven wonders
It left me wanting more
I am a child of babylon,
Lord have mercy on a wayward son
Nowhere to hide, got no place to run
I am a child,
A child of babylon
On my day of judgement
I know how it will be,
Im prepared to meet my maker
With no hope for charity
Ill stand alone and pay the price
For everything Ive done,
cos there aint guardian angel
For a child of babylon
I am a child,
A child of babylon
I am a child of babylon,
Lord have mercy on a wayward son
Nowhere to hide, got no place to run
I am a child,
A child of babylon
Child of babylon

It is commonly said that men are forward to believe whatever is connected with their own interest. This in common cases is true; but it is also true, that when some very great and unexpected good news is brought to us, we find it very difficult to credit it.

The Word

Find the word, understand the word,
Depend on the word;
The word is heaven and space, the word the earth,
The word the universe.
The word is in our ears, the word is on our tongues,
The word the idol.
The word is the holy book, the word is harmony,
The word is music.
The word is magic, the word the Guru.
The word is the body, the word is the spirit, the word is being,
The word Not-being.
The word is man, the word is woman,
The Worshipped Great.
The word is the seen and unseen, the word is the existent
And the non-existent.
Know the word, says Kabir,
The word is All-powerful.

This Month Messiah

I'm just a pilgrim here looking for holy ground
I'm just a body lost but my soul can be found
How many miles to go
How many miles to babylon
I don't know where to turn when answers all fade clear
But I must find a place there's only questions here
How many miles to go
How many miles to babylon
How many miles to go
How many miles to babylon
I feel...feel like I'm on trial
Who made a judge of you
Are you this month's messiah
I am a fightin' man tired of living under the gun
But am I looking for love or am I looking to run
How many miles to go
How many miles to babylon
How many miles to go
How many miles to babylon
I heard...I heard it on the wire
That it's all up to you
Are you this month's messiah
How many miles to go
How many miles to babylon

Today... 'The Word

Word of love and the Word made flesh
Word incarnate forever blessed
Word of life and the Word of light
Word of power and Word of might.

Word that was spoken, Word of the Lord
Word of the Law and the Word of God
Word of peace and Word eternal
Word of truth and last Word of all.

Word of wisdom and the Word of healing
Word from heaven, a Word so appealing
Word fulfilling the Word of prophecy
Word of the Spirit and Word of destiny.

Word of exhortation and Word of grace
Word of encouragement and Word of faith
Word of promise and a Word of insight
Word from the beginning and Word of delight.

Word of knowledge and a Word of boldness
Word of peace and the Word of righteousness
Word of the covenant and Word of love
Word of the Father from heaven above.

Corruption

From the drip drip drip of the teardrops
To the chink chink chink of the cash
To the end end end of the friendships
To the wack wack wack of the bash
Corruption corruption corruption
Rules my soul
Corruption corruption corruption
Rules my soul
From the tick tick tick of your times up
To the yes yes yes of Ill sell
From the fact fact fact of the souless
To the pact pact pact with hell
Corruption corruption corruption
Rules my soul
Corruption corruption corruption
Chills my bones
Corruption corruption corruption
Rules my soul
Corruption corruption corruption
Chills my bones
From the scream scream scream of the babies
To the retch retch retch of the youth
From the lie lie lie of the righteous
To the lost lost lost way I feel
Corruption corruption corruption
Rules my bones
Corruption corruption corruption
Chills my bones
Corruption corruption corruption
Rules my soul

Rules my soul
Corruption
Corruption
Order in the court
Decision to abort
The monkey wants to speak
So speak, monkey speak
Speak monkey, speak
Speak monkey, speak
Speak monkey, speak
Everything leads to corruption
Everything leads to corruption

Gossips Of Beauty

Have heard the gossips of your beauty
Have heard and now have seen, it's all true
That your beauty would make even the most
Chaste of men think of impurity
And I in number of too many
Suffer this burden of chastity the most
From the moment I cast my eyes upon your beauty
Indeed maiden, your beauty worth the gossips.

After Creation

On the Seventh Day
God Rested.

Refreshed throughout morning.
In invigorating coolness
of reverberating long afternoon.
Even as enticing serpent
was about coveted work.
Within a garden of paradise.

Fallen from paradise Eden.
Adam Eve suffer eviction notice.
An angel guards workshop gates
with naked drawn sword.

Eventually Creative Word Spoke.
A probing question.
‘Whom have thy
now on earth
to speak for thee? ’

Inquiry radiated forth
like cosmic solar winds
throughout newly created galaxy.

Jehovah issued
formative spoken word.
Motivating spirit
moved out upon
vibrant waters across
shaped terra firma.
Creating an invocation
within a single alluring
mud clay sculpture.

When Adam beheld this man.
God decreed in clear voice
proclaimed; “Thy servant’s
name shall be True Artist.”

“Pure in heart in midst
of corruption. With faith
thou shalt work revelation.
Love thy God with thy whole
heart thy whole mind thy whole soul.
To depths of thy inspired being.
And I shall address man’s souls
through works of my thy hand.”

Life breathed into a living soul.
Free to think explore past
boundary’s of prior creation.
A towering giant of the mind,
intellect, body incorporate spirit.
With brain will inner power.
To fashion shape a raw world.
Strength, courage, wisdom, faith.
To move heart mind conscience
within fallen flesh cursing his kind.
“This at last is man. Created first
in our own image; seeking redemption.”

Tasked to transcribe meaning
define beauty’s glory.
Comfort refugees in flight.
To offset corruption with fresh
wonder of realization.
While in pursuit of vision
to visualize dreams
in state of wakefulness.
Ferment unfocused eyes
corrupted hollow corpse.
To wake with rebirth
to luminous divine world.

Contrast gross debased ugliness.
Beauty of pure human body.
Sheathing an immortal soul.
