The Ballad of the Rose Trilogy
1st Ballad
A SUMMER'S NIGHT
I will never forget that summer
that summer I fall in love for the first time
it happened after my college graduation
i decided to take a vacation in a mountain
to my aunt's house where i was born.
The first time I saw her, it was in the church
she's so beautiful like an actress I admire
i never stop to glace at her every moment
my heart never stop to beat fast
after that day that i never thought
That I would see her for the second time
in the barangay where i live
in store, where i bought something
as i glance at her, she's mysterious
like Mona Lisa, so i never let her away
Ask her name, her name is Irma
I invite her to dance tonight
a dance to the barangay's fiesta
at first she refuse but i convince her
she agree then she smile at me.
In the eve of the fiesta, the moon is full
I grab her hands, she follow me
i never thought she will dance with grace
as we dance she talk to me,
she no longer mysterious to me
As the dance ends, under moon's light
we went to a solitary place
I never thought this would happen
everything happens so past
we kiss then lay down in a grass
As I enter inside of her, she smile,
the great pain I feel, she stand,
the blood flows, I lose my p***s
it fall in front of me as she opens hers
she look at me and she said,
' Your an idiot, you deserve this
by the way, everything I said to you is lie
i don't live here, i live in hell! '
she laugh i saw here leave
i bathe in blood, i loose my consciousness.
As I wake up, I am in the hospital
I thought it's just a nightmare
but it's true, i have no p***s anymore
as I get better, they ask me, i lie to them
the truth is embarrassing so
It has been a years from now,
I never heard of her again
I am older, I never been married,
I will never ever forget that summer
that summer i fall with a rose with thrones!
2nd Ballad
p.80
Janna,
I just want to thank you!
Thank you being my best friend through all these years.
For being my wife, for loving me all these time.
My love, my heart beat is right...
You are my forevermore.
Remember that first time we meet?
We were young at that time.
How could i forget it was our high school days.
It was in the school canteen
You left your book and I run after you
I never knew the woman I am looking for
Is the most beautiful woman in the campus.
The woman every man could fall in love.
So we became friends and the right time comes,
I tell you the truth, we became lovers
And the day I proposed you...remember that day?
I gave you the sweet red rose,
And I said ' My beautiful Janna, will you marry me? '
I thought I get busted then you said 'Yes.'
I am the happiest man in the world.
My dearest wife, all these years
Though our marriage is not perfect,
You make me happy, you inspire me
Your the best mother to our children
I love you so much.
Janna, as I am writing this letter,
I could not stop to cry
The doctor told me I have Alzheimer's Disease
I know soon will never remember you anymore.
Please don't be sad my love, don't cry on me
Do you remember your favorite book?
I brought for you for the last time
I put it on beneath your cabinet
When you see it, please turn to page 80
Then you'll see the sweet red rose
A rose just like I gave you the day I proposed you
My dearest wife, I love you
One day I will no longer remember you
Please my love, do not sad
Embrace the book I gave you for the last time
And do always remember the rose.
I loved you now... I will love you forever!
Farewell my love... farewell...
Nael.
3rd Ballad
A Love at the End of the World
It is 3: 00 in the afternoon here in Embarcadero
I am still waiting for her come...
I miss her so much, it's been 4 years from now since then
while I am waiting for her, i wanna tell you a story
a story of my life when I was in college
I am lonely man living in a lonely world
Until the time I board to Daraga to focus to my study
I never know my life change forever
I remember one time I am alone up the rooftop
She come there crying, she's drunk
I try to talk to her she replied
Her name is Rose, she's one of my boardmate...
One of my classmate at school
the first time i saw though it's
my heat beats fast, it telling me she's the one...
we became friends until the 4th year
never dared to her the felling inside
until the before gradation I date her
we watched romantic movie and we went to Embarcade
I tell her the truth, she was surprise
she replied, ' If you could wait 4 years then we will be.
Maybe that year, all my dreams already fullfill.'
then I replied, 'I will wait for you. After 4 years here in this place...
At 4: 00 in the afternoon, promise me you would come'
She smile then said, 'Promise.'
It's 4: 15 in the afternoon, I am still waiting for her
now I am hearing someone calling behind my back
I turn around, i see it, i was surprise...
It's her... but she's different now...
she's very, very, very much fat
oh, i hope turn back the clock right now,
but still i am gonna propose to her right
i am already 50 years old... i dont wanna get extinct.

A Cinderella Dance
When we first met it was at a mask dance party
We only dance once
but last a lifetime
It was a magical time
Even thought we never saw each other face
But you remember how beautiful I dance
I know I left without saying goodbye
And I'm glad you've been looking for me since
Because one song bring two strangers together
And one dance make two stranger fall in love with each other
Baby You are my Cinderella
And I can tell you if we can find each other after all those years
And if one dance make us fall in love
We are going to live happily ever after
The truth is that it wasn't just a dance It was

Help Me
I love David, but he lives so far away from me. In
fact, he lives in his own world and I know that he
doesn't know me. I saw his picture in a book. I know
I'm not existent for ‘im, but I love ‘im so much. He's
existent for me. I want to meet ‘im to make this love
become real, but I read all his books and I know that
I have no chance. Even so, I still want to do this. I must
hide my intentions, firstly. Yes, I know what I have to do.
I'll send ‘im a letter writing that I want to meet ‘im for
a different reason. I‘ll lie. He will believe me. It ‘ll be an
ideal lie. Slowly, I can become his ideal woman. In time, I hope
that he'll fall in love with me. Apparently, the feelings of
love will come from ‘im, and I'll be that person needing
time to think about this. My thoughts will ne'er be an open
book for ‘im, because my little lie can fail. I can play this game
all my life ne'er letting ‘im discover the naked truth. I can hide
my consciousness. It is easy for me to do this, but I don't know
if I can lie about myself all life. Probably, I'll become an old
woman lying herself to survive. I don't know how many years
I can keep my consciousness in this sad ontological duality
Between being myself and being someone else in his eyes, at
the same time. I know that it ain't good what I'm doing, but
I'm desperately in love with ‘im. I remember that Descartes
wrote that ''we perceive ideas as objects''. Even I'm so
desperately in love with ‘im, I cannot accept this love to
become the object of my lie. Moreover, I cannot deny myself,
even I love my writer so much. My mother told me once that
she thinks that love belongs only to human beings. She said
that love is God becoming feelings inside of us. I remember
that I replied that love is in itself, because even God loves us.
I told her about Cusanus, who wrote that 'the world is not God
but is not anything other than God'. ''Much more than love, God
is truth, she said, because He is ''the fullness of being'." Yes'', I said,
‘'He is uncreated and creates, He gives being out o' nothing after
negating His antithetical nothingness''. I was so happy in that
moment being with God and waiting for a miracle to happen. Now,
those beautiful words seemingly lost their meaning for me. I can
see myself in the future, a very sad woman.I don't want my
consciousness to become a negation. I'm afraid o' this, while being
aware that my love is dying in self. If I wouldn't have Eckhart in my mind,
probably I'd have more courage.I love David and I'm so unhappy!

Remember The Time
Do you remember
When we fell in love
We were young
And innocent then
Do you remember
How it all began
It just seemed like heaven
So why did it end?
Do you remember
Back in the fall
Wed be together
All day long
Do you remember
Us holding hands
In each others eyes
Wed stare
(tell me)
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
When we first met
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
Do you remember
How we used to talk
(ya know)
Wed stay on the phone
At night till dawn
Do you remember
All the things we said like
I love you so
Ill never let you go
Do you remember
Back in the spring
Every morning birds would sing
Do you remember
Those special times
Theyll just go on and on
In the back of my mind
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
When we first met girl
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
Those sweet memories
Will always be dear to me
And girl no matter what was said
I will never forget what we had
Now baby
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
When we first met
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
When we first met
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
Remember the times
Ooh
Remember the times
Do you remember girl
Remember the times
On the phone you and me
Remember the times
Till dawn, two or three
What about us girl
Remember the times
Do you. do you, do you,
Do you, do you
Remember the times
In the park, on the beach
Remember the times
You and me in spain
Remember the times
What about, what about...
Remember the times
Ooh... in the park
Remember the times
After dark..., do you, do you, do you
Remember the times
Do you, do you, do you, do you
Remember the times
Yeah yeah
Remember the times

Adam's Curse
WE sat together at one summer's end,
That beautiful mild woman, your close friend,
And you and I, and talked of poetry.
I said, 'A line will take us hours maybe;
Yet if it does not seem a moment's thought,
Our stitching and unstitching has been naught.
Better go down upon your marrow-bones
And scrub a kitchen pavement, or break stones
Like an old pauper, in all kinds of weather;
For to articulate sweet sounds together
Is to work harder than all these, and yet
Be thought an idler by the noisy set
Of bankers, schoolmasters, and clergymen
The martyrs call the world.'
And thereupon
That beautiful mild woman for whose sake
There's many a one shall find out all heartache
On finding that her voice is sweet and low
Replied, 'To be born woman is to know --
Although they do not talk of it at school --
That we must labour to be beautiful.'
I said, 'It's certain there is no fine thing
Since Adam's fall but needs much labouring.
There have been lovers who thought love should be
So much compounded of high courtesy
That they would sigh and quote with learned looks
precedents out of beautiful old books;
Yet now it seems an idle trade enough.'
We sat grown quiet at the name of love;
We saw the last embers of daylight die,
And in the trembling blue-green of the sky
A moon, worn as if it had been a shell
Washed by time's waters as they rose and fell
About the stars and broke in days and years.
I had a thought for no one's but your ears:
That you were beautiful, and that I strove
To love you in the old high way of love;
That it had all seemed happy, and yet we'd grown
As weary-hearted as that hollow moon.

Farewell My Summer Love
Oooh,
Farewell my summer love, farewell
Girl I wont forget you,
Farewell, my summer love, farewell, ooh
I found my happiest days,
When you came to see your grandma in may
I bumped into you by the corner store
I told you that you sure looked good, now
Your grandmas house was next to mine
We were together most of the time
But summers gotten away from us
Times moving too fast for us
(bye, bye)
Dont turn around
cause you might see me cry
Farewell my summer love, farewell
Girl I wont forget you
Farewell, my summer love, farewell, ooh, yeah
When you return to your hometown
And you discuss your trip
Will I be the guy that you put down
Or someone that you dont forget, no?
Ill never forget you
And maybe next year
When youre out of school
Youll return, but until you do, baby
(bye, bye)
Dont turn around
You might see me cry
Farewell my summer love, farewell
Girl I wont forget you
Farewell, my summer love, farewell, yeah
Oooh
Farewell, farewell
Oooh,
Farewell, farewell
If you remember my name,
(drop a line)
Drop a line sometime, yeah
Yeah, ooh
Girl I wont forget you
Farewell my summer love, farewell
Girl I wont forget you
When you return to your hometown
And you discuss your trip
Will I be the guy that you put down
Or someone that you dont forget, no?
Ill never forget you
And maybe next year
When youre out of school
Youll return, but until you do, baby
(bye, bye)
Dont turn around
You might see me cry
Farewell, my summer love, farewell, oohh, yeah
Farewell, my summer love, farewell
(repeat to fade)

Live life to the fullest
Remember when you were little?
It seems so long ago.
There were a lot of big changes it seemed.
Like your first christmas, first birthday, first everything.
Then you learned to walk and talk
And finally went to school for the first time.
It seemed to take forever just to turn 13,
To finally become a teenager.
Just a few short years later,
Guess what, you turn 16.
Now you have more freedom,
and a brand new car.
A couple of years later,
You graduate high school and turn 18.
Finally it is time to say your goodbyes.
To leave your parents house and go to college.
Now you have graduated college,
And have a full time job.
Maybe you have even started a family.
So where did all those years go?
Just live your life and try not to grow up too fast.

____________________________________ ______________________
Where your first rose?
Where your first rose?
I know you looking for it
But you cannot find...
Where your first rose?
I know you having forget it
Somewhere that you don’t know...
Where your first rose?
Hiding some where
You cannot ever reach...
Where your first rose?
Beneath someone heart
That you don’t know the person...
Where your first rose?
That cherish for ever
You forget to rescue it...
Where your first rose?
That you need to smell it
But you didn’t...
Where your first rose?
Smell like angels perfume
You once smell...
Where your first rose?
That you looking every where
Run away from you...
Where your first rose?
That born together in every soul
But you chased away...
Where your first rose?
That gives you happiness
Forever and forever...
Where your first rose?
That you kissed it every day
When you have it...
Where your first rose?
That you still looking for it
After many years left by...
Where your first rose?
That gives you every thing
Warm, happiness and true love...
Where your first rose?
That only dedicated you
By a true angel on earth...
Where your first rose?
You will have it never
Again with jealous eyes...
Where your first rose?
That gives to you
Behalf of true love...
Where your first rose?
That’s become a disappear
After you say no...
Where your first rose?
That has an ocean deep of value
You value it forever...
Where your first rose?
Away from you now
That’s you call every day...
Where your first rose?
You call by dreams
But really cannot touch...
Where your first rose?
You call by name
But didn’t hear your voice...
Where your first rose?
Whispering with you
Every nights and days...
Where your first rose?
That sung a songs ever nights
To lullaby...
Where your first rose?
That you don’t know
where its still...
That’s with me

Still Around
Do you remember what you said to me the day I met you
Like yesterday I still can hear your voice, you promised to be
Still in my life no matter what you had to do to be there
Well, it's been a while and here we are lookin' back on times that we shared
I still imagine us being young and so in love
Never apart, you were my heart
Seems like it's always just been us
Chorus:
I remember we were in the park
Holding hands and you said to me
I'm the only thing you need
And I would make your life complete
If I said I'd be your girl
You would stay with me forever
Boy, you never let me down
Through it all you're still around
Still around (yeah)
I still believe in all the things you said to me in those days
You gave me love and kept your word with every promise you made
I sing your favorite song inside my head when you're not with me
Until you come back home and take me in your arms and hold me
I can imagine us being old and still in love
Never apart, you are my heart
Makes me smile, we're still in love
I remember we were in the park
Holding hands and you said to me
I'm the only thing you need
And I would make your life complete
If I said I'd be your girl
You would stay with me forever
Boy, you never let me down
Through it all you're still around
Looking back through all the years
(Man speaking):
Heh
You remember the first time I went to your house
And your father looked at me like I had three heads
(And I will never forget the day)
Heh
We were so in love
(Looking back through all the years)
You were so beautiful and so young
(And I will never forget the day you came into my life and what you said to me)
I can't believe you're still mine
That's crazy
I love you
I remember we were in the park (we were in the park)
Holding hands and you said to me (holding hands)
I'm the only thing you need
And I would make your life complete (and I would your life complete)
If I said I'd be your girl
You would stay with me forever (I'm still your girl)
Boy, you never let me down
Through it all you're still around (I'll never let you down, my baby)
I remember we were in the park
Holding hands and you said to me
I'm the only thing you need
And I would make your life complete
If I said I'd be your girl (said I'd be your girl and)
You would stay with me forever
Boy, you never let me down
Through it all you're still around
Still around (yeah)

The Dance Electric
Good morning children
Take a look out your window
Our world is falling
It's almost time 2 go
(Dance)
Dance the Dance Electric
The rhythm is love and love is blind
Love your enemies
There isn't much time, there isn't much time
Look - our world is falling
A rhythm-less house of blinded prophecy
Hear our Master calling
This isn't what He wanted us 2 be
We got 2 dance the Dance Electric
Listen 2 the rhythm of your soul
Come on and dance the Dance Electric
We better love each other, it's almost time 2 go
Don't - it don't make U happy
2 give another someone your own smile
Dance the dance electric
Never mind your hatred, try a brand new style
Dance the Dance Electric
Listen 2 the rhythm of your soul
U got 2 dance the Dance Electric
We better love each other, it's almost time 2 go
We... love... all... enemies
Look - U're livin' in Babylon
Makin', but not feelin' love at all
When your youth is gone, when it comes 2 dawn
A light of truth will shine and U will fall
That's why U got 2 dance the Dance Electric
Listen 2 the rhythm of your soul
U got 2 dance the Dance Electric
We better love each other, it's almost time 2 go
See the light inside of us
U're stuck in living, livin' life as bad
Whatever U do, don't U let your life go without my love
It's the only life that U will ever have
Why don't U (dance) dance the Dance Electric?
Listen 2 the rhythm of your soul
Why don't U dance the Dance Electric?
We better love each other, it's almost time 2 go (almost time 2)
Dance the Dance Electric
Listen 2 the rhythm of your soul
Come on and dance the Dance Electric
We better love each other, it's almost time 2 go

Seven Years
Theres thunder rolling in your eyes
Its raining in your heart
What lies around the corner
You have seen an hundred times
But you never thought anything like it would happen to you
Babys gone
He walked out on you
Seven years have come and gone
All that time for you
And now both our hearts must beat the drum
To a different tune
Send all those dreams away baby
You can lose yourself in yourself
Hurt yourself a little more
Turn the key and hate the boy
Forget a soul in distress, leave the real world to others
Thats not the way hes coming back ever again
Babys gone
Now what are you gonna do
Seven years have come and gone
All that time for you
And now both our hearts must beat the drum
To a different tune
Send all those dreams away baby
Each time I see a love, a love thats dying
I know what I would do, I know what I would do
But you cant see cause your heart is the way girl youre blinded
And its hurting so bad, and its hurting so bad
Hes so gone, gone away and you cant find him
Was there ever a day, just one day you were happy
Believe in the power of love everlasting
To the end of all time, to the end of all time
In a funny way I dont feel sorry, youre getting what you served
Just you remember very well the lesson you have learned
And its august now, your seven years are gone
All that time for you
Send all those dreams away baby

Judy
To my wife Judy
I really love you truly
remember the good old days,
and the bad, when we almost went our ways
your such a good mother and wife
even though, we together, have a lot of strife
I love your sweet smile dear
the thought of losing you, brings a tear
Remember when we walked down grand
for us together, hand in hand
when we went to watch them play ball
days when the team was riding tall
Remember our first kiss
it brought my heart much bliss
Judy dear the years, have gone fast
I love you so much, like in the past
Judy together we've seen good times and bad
we've seen our son, grow into a fine lad
our daughter I know acts like me,
I do wish she was more like you, don't you see
Judy you have so much love,
in you, your sweet as a dove
you put up with so much
right now your face I want to touch
I told you I would write a poem about you
it may not be good, but it'll do
Judy this is how I feel with out you
when away from you, I feel very blue
I miss you very much
love you more, when were not in touch
time has not passed us by
of the past I need to let it die
Judy I'm happy with you my dear
the thought of losing you brings fear
without you, I'm nothing at all,
with you, in time, I will stand very tall.
Get over him
Forget his name
Forget his face
Forget his kiss
Forget the love that you once knew
Remember he has someone new
Forget him when the played your song
Remember when you cried all night long
Forget how close you once were
Remember he has chosed her
Forget how you memorized his walk
Forget the way he used to talk
Forget the things he used to say
Remember he has gone away
Forget his laugh forget his grim
Forget the dimples on his chin
Forget the way he held you tight
Remember he's with her tonight
Forget the time that went so fast
Forget the love that moved, its past
Forget he said he'd leave you never
Remember he's gone forever

Call For The Next Dance
(for Harry)
How we used to dance together.
The dinner table would be set
With its lyrical sparkle of low light,
the candle would bid us:
Dance!
With mine, your body would move
in all directions,
weaving a poetry of motion
creating – unconsciously-
beautiful memories
that we would summon
with a smile,
not sorrow
when we could not dance
together anymore
Ah, how we loved to dance
In the morning
At noon
In the evening
How we loved to dance
When eternity was ours
in our moments of solitude together
or with a coterie of friends
or even total strangers,
we would dance
You would dance with a swarm of
lithe bodies or stiff ones
As long as I was there
I would watch as your feet pirouetted
as if controlled by some spirit of their own
You loved to dance
And before the next ball
I was snatched as I was about to hurl myself
to your waiting arms
after we were apart for a few days
the few that seemed frustratingly infinite
But the train came too fast, stopped long
(or short) enough to load me and absconded
before I could beg for a chance to say
to you
Goodbye
in the fashion we were accustomed
I wish we could have gone to the
Last Dance
which you skipped
because I could no longer go with you
Even if
You loved to dance
Lately, I would silently feel you
intuitively hankering for a dance
But you would not move your feet
Because I could not mine
Even if
You loved to dance
Because you must,
I let you grieve
I let you stop dancing
Even if
You loved to dance
The datebook of the past year is no longer there
in its place one desperate to remind you
time has moved forward with slow precision
Or have you not noticed?
The interregnum has been long
Even the Great Source of Wisdom says
There is a time for everything
A time to cry, a time to laugh
A time to hurt, a time to heal
Too, there must be, for you,
A time to forget, a time to remember
A time to bury a loved one,
A time to exhume the stirring memories
that say life does not end with one death,
Like how
You loved to dance
There is a ball
Why does the spirit in your feet slumber
Still?
You do not want to go
because I will not be there,
You think?
Even if
You loved to dance
Go to the bedroom
(Which is no longer ours but yours; let the
last of me vacate it so you can be whole)
Open the wardrobe
Retrieve your dancing pants
and your dancing shoes
Heed the call of the dance floor
It missed you for too long
This last time
I will be there
Before the clock strikes at midnight
Let me go
Because really
I have gone a long time
as your dance partner
Before I go, brace your ears
Let me stay
long enough to whisper to you
Dance again.

*Harry is my California-based friend. His wife died unexpectedly. I wrote this a year after he was widowed when I and his other friends thought he was behaving like he was buried with his wife.

Roses
(melba montgomery, leslie satcher)
A soft summer evening, another time, another place
He brought her red roses on their very first date
She got carried away by the things that he said
Time would erase them but she would never forget
Chorus:
And the roses heard it all
The rose in her hair, the rose in her hand
The roses in the paper on the wall
Theres a story to tell if the roses could talk
Somewhere close to midnight, another time, another place
She lays in the darkness with tears on her face
While he talks in his sleep confessing his love
He calls out a name that shes never heard of
Repeat chorus
She never told him
She never let him see her cry
Only the roses know
What she kept down inside
The years took their toll and the angels took her away
Now theres family and friends at a cold winters grave
He kneels down and whispers. youre the only love that Ive known
As he lays a rose on a cold marble atone
But the roses heard it all
The rose from her garden, the rose in her bible
The roses in the paper on the wall
Theres a story to tell if roses could talk
What a story to tell if roses could talk~
