One Year
What's in a year?
We watch it disappear.
Its days go by.
They seem to fly
into the ethers of the past.
A year too swiftly
does not last.
And yet each day within the year
contains within it
every single minute
where your life is resolute
and filled with purpose.
A year is not just calandar days
to be scratched off one by one.
When you do this it's then you find
you miss out on its fun.
In a year one can learn
to appreciate the time you have
to be among the living,
the time you have for giving.
In a year you learn about power
that allows you to fill each hour
with everything you love.
What's in a year?
All things new that can appear,
things you've never given thought to,
things in life you want to do.
Before the year has gone away
see before you each new day
and as the year meets its end
be one who can say
'This year has been my friend.
It gave me solace, gave me peace
and it gave me the chance to release

Life Is A Teacher
Life is a teacher, which teaches how to live.
Life is a teacher, which teaches how to win.
Life is a teacher, which teaches how to laugh.
Life is a teacher, which teaches how to make other people cry.
Life is a teacher, which teaches how to love.
Life is a teacher, which teaches how to hate.
Life is a teacher, which teaches how to win honour.
Life is a teacher, which teaches how to embarrass others.
Indeed, life is a great teacher as it teaches everything.
And in this very greatness lies life's weakness, that it teaches everything.
It teaches how to love, but also teaches how to hate.
It teaches how to help, but also teaches how to harm.
It teaches how to honour (others) , but also teaches how to embarrass (others) .
It teaches how to laugh, but also teaches how to make other people cry.
Wish life were a bit selective in its teaching.
But can't we be a bit selective in taking lessons?
Even if you're improvising, the fact that beforehand you know certain things will work helps you make those improvisations successful. It really helps to have a certain amount of knowledge about musical structure.
Accomplice Of Evil
Can good accomplice evil, help assist it on its way?
The path to hell is paved with good intentions, so they say,
Yet when I think of real people struggling to survive
The selfish taking for themselves while others share and give,
I cannot think that she who loves and helps another's need
In some way unintended helps black evil to succeed.
Yet others claim for wickedness to triumph in this world
All goodness has to do is keep its banner indoors, furled.
They have a point perhaps, although 'accomplice' seems too strong
To say the weak and frightened help their murderers along
But thinking further on it, I conclude that this is true:
Evil's triumph needs no further help from them or me or you
It operates by greed and need and always in the dark;
The truth is, sadly, evil needs no help to do its work

What's A Friend?
Friend is someone who knows our emotions and feelings
That know our ideas and opinions
And that don't surprise us acting in a bad way

Isn't it great, to be alive, and have a friend,

Give God A Go!
The world would be a better place, if people were polite...
There'd be a smile on every face and that helps make things right...
There'd be a song in every heart, sweet thoughts in every mind,
Such that all sadness would depart, if only folks were kind...
Is that too much for me to ask? Too high for us to aim?
Is doing good so hard a task? If so, that's such a shame!
But even if we fail today, tomorrow still awaits,
Of course, it helps for folks to pray, just as the Bible states!
On different levels we may be, yet each can do their best,
But then we'll have to wait and see who wins this valiant quest!
Where will we be a year from now? How many good works done?
What will the Lord above allow when that full year has run?
Without His help, we won't get far! Without Him, we'd be lost!
He made each sun, each moon, each star! And how much would they cost?
Let's have a think! What could we do, if we gave God a go?
I know I've tried and yet have YOU? You little so-and-so?
That way, you'll help the world advance... If I can, then YOU can...
Give God a go! Give God a chance! Then help your fellow man...

It’s my very favorite time of year

Alone
Sometimes I just sit in the dark,
By myself in my room.
Staring at those pictures from the park,
So full of gloom.
It helps me think,
Whether that's good or bad,
Looking around at all the pink
Sometimes happy and other times sad.
I don't want to talk.
I want to be in a place I consider mine.
I don't want to walk.
If you ask me what's wrong I'll answer, 'I'm fine.'
I wish everyone wouldn't worry,
There's nothing wrong.
Sometimes things get blurry
When I listen to those old songs.
If I want to sit there
Then let me be.
I don't always need you in my hair.
I don't let many see the real me.
You may think it's 'unhealthy'
That it's not good
That I just sit here quietly.
I know you're just doign what a good person would.
But sometimes it's okay to sit,
To not have my phone,
But only for a little bit.
