So Wise
SO WISE
O Lord you are wise in all of your ways, so wise
No wonder they call you the Ancient of Days, who never dies
The always truthful one who never lies
The one who wipes away our tears when we cry
The one who feeds all of the birds that fly
Yet takes time out just to draw us nigh
The one who rules heaven and earth from on high
And has provided all that we need to get by
The one who leads us and guides us in our way
And gives us our daily bread day by day
The one who forgives us when we sin
And fights our battles so that we win
You have the solution to every problem
Whatever problems may come you have already solved them
You go way beyond supplying our basic needs
You are the only one that can judge our good and bad deeds
You have given us the choice to sow good or bad seeds
You have given us for our daily bread, your word that we could read
So I thank you Lord for being so, so wise
Now to see your face is the ultimate prize

Little Kawai
Heres a note from one miss turnbull
Certain homework was not done
Tiny holes in brand new windows
From an unknown bb gun
Cinder annie and your big mommie
Say the facts all point to you
But they dont love you
Little kawai
Not the way that I do
Not the way that I do
That new squirt gun
Eric got you
Dont you aim it over here
Thats a mean song eldon taught you
I no longer wish to hear
And where he says babies come from
This is not completely true
Thats a tall one
Little kawai
And those bad boys
They dont love you
Not the way that I do
In the morning in spite of everything
Well go driving in our car
Straight to ihop where its well-known
The worlds junkest pancakes are
Maple syrup on those french fries
They say its no good for you
But youre still growing
Little kawai
What do they know
Do they love you
Not the way that I do
Not the way that I do

Allow God To Work
The Lord can work in mighty ways, for God does it all of the time,
Taking senseless darkened days, that have no reason or a rhyme,
And filling them with ample praise, from His Power that is sublime.
Doing so your spirit He will raise, and from darkness you will climb.
The Lord God has no limitations, and reigns high above the skies,
He reigns above all the nations, and God knows who lives and dies.
He is the God of all destinations, and in Him there’s no compromise.
He’s indeed The God of all creations, all knowing and eternally wise.
Give God the room that He needs, as you live through your daily life,
For The Lord is busy planting seeds, in what you think is only strife.
As God employs a servants deeds, to move your thoughts to Christ,
The Holy Spirit of God leads, men everywhere, towards Eternal Life.
Let your heart be sure and still, as you put all faith and trust in Him,
For it’s The Lord’s Eternal Will, and God’s alone when He’s to begin,
So maintain your hope in God until, He removes the time that’s grim,
For all that He plans He shall fulfill, shedding light where now it’s dim.
Friend, He is The God that you can trust, to handle all of your affairs,
And to believe in Him, this is a must, for Him to lighten all your cares.
The Lord will help you to adjust, as the entire world around despairs,
And soon believers He will thrust, into His Glory, His Word declares.

Farewell to Islay
Snowflakes on your long blonde hair
we slipped and slid over icy ruts,
by the curve of soot stained tenements
long swept from Eldon street.
The Kelvin cut through floes of ice
by the back of the bustling Doublet.
Students of liquor spilled out laughing
in front of us into the snow.
A cold wind swirled through Maryhill
to the doors of the Q M Halls,
where I last heard your voice;
and last looked into your eyes.
Before you left for Oban
from a Glasgow that’s almost gone.
Pale blue ink on pale blue lines
reminds me of your letters still;
reminds me of a teenage girl
who crossed the sea from Islay.
You were tremulous shyness,
and a tender lilting song,
and I was lost in all that you were.
Your beauty was the least of it.
And yet, I recklessly figured
that a bit part
was somehow good enough for you...
What is it that really matters here?
I might have asked myself.
But all of my so called intellect
was aloft, on blind wings
or juggling mindlessly
on lower tracks I couldn’t jump
and in the end I let it all go;
no explanation why,
no farewell to Islay,
silently,
as if you’d never written,
as if we’d never been
except for a wintry absence
of your laughter by the Kelvin;
pale blue eyes through flakes of snow.
To His Coy One
SEEST thou yon smiling Orange?
Upon the tree still hangs it;
Already March bath vanish'd,
And new-born flow'rs are shooting.
I draw nigh to the tree then,
And there I say: Oh Orange,
Thou ripe and juicy Orange,
Thou sweet and luscious Orange,
I shake the tree, I shake it,
Oh fall into my lap!

My Single Orange Rose
Here is my prose,
All based on a single orange rose,
Grave grass springing,
Church hyms their singing,
Blood stains clinging,
On my single orange rose,
No soul is laughing,
Deaths hands are clapping,
Coffin case trapping,
On my single orange rose,
Trees are branching,
My cold blank eyes are trancing,
The life cycle of death is dancing,
On my single orange rose,
I picked my final wish,
On deaths lips I kissed,
My long life I missed,
All because of that single orange rose,

Dr. Robert F. Thomas
Chorus:
Dr. robert f. thomas
May his name forever stand
Dr. robert f. thomas
Was a mighty, mighty man
And he enriched the lives
Of everyone that ever knew him
And in my song i hope to sing
Some of the praise that's due him
Dr. thomas was a man
The lord must have appointed
To live among us mountain folks
In eastern tennessee
And he delivered more than half
The babies in those mountains
Among those babies
He delivered me
There was no way to drive along
The roads back in those mountains
But dr. thomas got there
Just the same
He often rode on horseback
To get where he was needed
But if he had to walk
He always came
Repeat chorus
Dr. thomas was a friend
A neighbor and a doctor
Though he seldom got a dime
For all he'd done
And i remember lots of times
We sent for dr. thomas
But i don't recall a time
He didn't come
They say a man is judged
By the deeds he does while livin'
A judgement when he stands
Before the lord
And i know heaven holds a place
For men like dr. thomas
And i know that he'll receive
His just reward
Repeat chorus

Orange And Green Will Carry The Day
Ireland! rejoice, and England! deplore
Faction and feud are passing away.
'Twas a low voice, but 'tis a loud roar,
'Orange and Green will carry the day.'
Orange! Orange!
Green and Orange!
Pitted together in many a fray
Lions in fight!
And linked in their might,
Orange and Green will carry the day.
Orange! Orange!
Green and Orange!
Wave them together o'er mountain and bay.
Orange and Green!
Our King and our Queen!
'Orange and Green will carry the day!'
Rusty the swords our fathers unsheathed
William and James are turned to clay
Long did we till the wrath they bequeathed,
Red was the crop, and bitter the pay!
Freedom fled us!
Knaves misled us!
Under the feet of the foemen we lay
Riches and strength
We'll win them at length,
For Orange and Green will carry the day!
Landlords fooled us;
England ruled us,
Hounding our passions to make us their prey;
But, in their spite,
The Irish UNITE,
And Orange and Green will carry the day!
Fruitful our soil where honest men starve;
Empty the mart, and shipless the bay;
Out of our want the Oligarchs carve;
Foreigners fatten on our decay!
Disunited,
Therefore blighted,
Ruined and rent by the Englishman's sway;
Party and creed
For once have agreed
Orange and Green will carry the day!
Boyne's old water,
Red with slaughter!
Now is as pure as an infant at play;
So, in our souls,
Its history rolls,
And Orange and Green will carry the day!
English deceit can rule us no more;
Bigots and knaves are scattered like spray
Deep was the oath the Orangeman swore,
'Orange and Green must carry the day!'
Orange! Orange!
Bless the Orange!
Tories and Whigs grew pale with dismay,
When from the North
Burst the cry forth,
'Orange and Green will carry the day!'
No surrender!
No Pretender!
Never to falter and never betray
With an Amen,
We swear it again,
ORANGE AND GREEN SHALL CARRY THE DAY.

Surf And/or Die
Earthbound to johnny boy just picked up your message
bout those balinese ikats you thought I might buy
Now your voice on my machine is more alive than what you are
Since your daredevil hang glider fell out of the sky
Now armands looked all over but he cant find your car keys
Were they under the tire? were they under the seat?
Because as it stands now your beloved white aires
Is fair game for the vandals up on makapuu street
And your grandmothers number, we know its here somewhere
But suze cant seem to find it, now shes losing control
And so what about her, and little eldon and layla
And that hypothetical spectre, your gilt-edged soul
Which defied many perils, in the face of all reason
And in so many settings and for all your young years
Insisting on pure freedom for its too-short season
Riding high on its ration of enchantment and fear
Over the hill and into the next meadow and on and on and on
In a near random universe there are still certain combinations
Picked out from all other possible ones
Which, when given some time and the just-right circumstances
Not too far from the earth or too close to the sun
They will dance and theyll spin in the embrace of the trade winds
Playing havoc with the hearts and the upturned faces down below
Until the laws of curved spacetime, susponed without warning
Kick back in with a vengeance for the last act of the show
Going too far too fast in that final wing over
As your glider comes tumbling out of the clouds
And you clutch at your chest but the chute never opens
And they find you there tangled in that white nylon shroud
When we get grandmas number I think Ill just say to her
Your johnnys home for christmas, it was a hell of a ride
And I know that some day youll be showing me those blankets
All covered in glory on the hereafter side, saying
There was never any question, it was always all or nothing

Red And Orange
Ther's a red house,
Inside there's an orange door.
Beside that there's a red carpet,
On top of an orange floor.
There's a red table,
Below an orange ceiling.
Upstairs there's a red bed,
Inside an orange room.
There's a couple of red people sleeping soundly,
Next door two orange ones too.
Outside there's a red truck,
No one knows what to do.
I don't see the proble,
Why don't you leave us all alone.
But now I see the red more clearly,
And I know what's done is done.
And I'll float away with the cloudy smoke,
Before the inevertable happens and I start to choke.
Good bye red house,
So long orange door.
I'm going for a long sleep noe,
Six feet under the floor.
Lord let it be so inspired by the Holy Bible
Lord let it be so
O' Lord give us our daily bread
And let it be so
if Despair be our Our daily bread
No Lord let not be so
Examine me my Lord
And know my mind
Keep me on good ways to go
And Lord let it be so
Set me free from distress
Make me good and strong
For sinful gains i must long
No Lord let not be so
Lord listen to my call of help
And be always at my side
Be with me when i need you
And Lord let it be so
O'Lord give us our daily bread
And let it be so
If despair be our daily bread
Lord let not be so
O' Lord give us our daily bread
And let it be so
If despair be our daily
Lord let not be so
And let it be so
Set me free from distress
Make me good and strong
For sinful gains i must long
No Lord let not be so
Lord listen to my call of help
And be always at my side
Be with me when i need you
And let it be so
O' Lord give us our daily bread
And let it be so
If despair be our daily bread
Let not be so

All My Needs
My Lord, I simply want from you, the needs I have to see me through,
All those needs each and every day, which I encounter along the way;
Wants and needs, I daily confront, please help me to curb each want,
As your plan for me, that’s much higher, will see my every true desire.
I entreat You Lord, to refuse me not, as I live out my life’s chosen lot,
This present lot that was cast for me, by The Lord over all of Eternity;
Guide me until the day that I die, through your guidance from on high,
Knowing all in life, that is ahead, guard my heart from fear and dread.
Keep falsehood and lies from me, whatever the future ahead may be,
Through hard times or prosperity, please set my sights upon Eternity,
While I live every day for Christ, Who has secured for me Eternal Life,
During those times of tribulation, I shall trust in The Lord of Salvation.
Lord, allow me not riches or poverty, in the plan that you have for me,
But Lord, I simply request instead, your guidance and my daily bread;
If given too much, I may disown, my Lord, who’s on Heaven’s Throne,
With all that provision, by me, ignored, I might say “Who is The Lord”.
Lord, if I were poor, I just may deal, with the dark and moved to steal,
This would only dishonor the Name, of God, Who provides all I claim;
So help me to always be content, with the provisions, You have sent,
And so Your Word, I’d always heed, while You provide all that I need.

The Boys And The Apple-Tree
As William and Thomas were walking one day,
They came by a fine orchard's side:
They would rather eat apples than spell, read, or play,
And Thomas to William then cried:
'O brother, look yonder! what clusters hang there!
I'll try and climb over the wall:
I must have an apple; I will have a pear;
Although it should cost me a fall!'
Said William to Thomas, 'To steal is a sin,
Mamma has oft told this to thee:
I never have stolen, nor will I begin,
So the apples may hang on the tree. '
'You are a good boy, as you ever have been,'
Said Thomas, 'let's walk on, my lad:
We'll call on our schoolfellow, Benjamin Green,
Who to see us I know will be glad.

Prince Of Orange
Look at these hands
Spokes of the sun God delay you, spray you
Prince of orange, climb the ladder
Prince of orange will die.
Brass robinettes
Trumpet and drums for the taking, baking
Prince of orange, climb the ladder
Prince of orange will die.
All the food he steals is all right
Far the tall and gentle poplar
Causing fanfare to those listening
Now
Drape round your head
Mischief and secrets in green kelt, all hell
Prince of orange, climb the ladder
Prince of orange will die.
Look at these lands (--- --- ---)
Youll get no books for your dinner
Sinner
Prince of orange, climb the ladder
Prince of orange will die

song - Snow on the River (i)
It was back when skies were bluer and hearts were worn on sleeves
I’d fallen for the first time, into love head over heels
I might as well have carved my love upon the breaking waves
It vanished in an instant but kept me as its slave
You were dancing in a discotheque behind old Eldon Street
The wars of love were almost done but kept us on our feet
I wore McKenzie’s tartan to the drumming of retreat
I knew too well that one more touch would lead me to defeat
Once I found your image traced on the surface of the Cree
You said I’ll marry you if you’ll drift with me to the sea
I pledged my soul by wind and sun that I would never stray
But you wouldn’t leave the river and, my love, I couldn’t stay
It was long ago on Gibson Street and you were on my arm
In snowflakes falling on your hair outside the shishmahal
I saw forever in your eyes to music in your voice
Before I realised that I would have to make a choice
In the winter now I hear the waves calling out your name
And through the Kirk of Inch I’ve chased your shadow to the gate
I dream a face in photofit before me where I sit
At last I think I recognise who the photo fits
You were hiding in a novel set beneath another sun
Two spinning moons were in the sky and you were on the run
You had the gift of prophecy and you'd bled the sacred cow
All your words flowed into mine but I can’t find you in them now
From the Ice Rink bar down town once we watched the curlers play
They played just through the glass but might have been a world away
Your lips and thighs in passion’ s rush soon torched that winter’s nights
You would have been the one, love, if the choice had been just mine
You’re a river running under but sometimes you burst through
The locks and walls I’d raised against those moments lost in you
And sweep me through The Bridge of Sighs, through flames by Fairhurst Road
And still my words must fail you.............. in this humble ode

The 'Viduate Dame
'Tis the widow of Thomas Blythe,
And she goeth upon the spree,
And red are cheeks of the bystanders
For her acts are light and free.
In a seven-ounce costume
The widow of Thomas Blythe,
Y-perched high on the window ledge,
The difficult can-can tryeth.
Ten constables they essay
To bate the dame's halloing.
With the widow of Thomas Blythe
Their hands are overflowing,
And they cry: 'Call the National Guard
To quell this parlous muss-
For all of the widows of Thomas Blythe
Are upon the spree and us!'
O long shall the eerie tale be told
By that posse's surviving tithe;
And with tears bedewed he'll sing this rude
Ballad of the widow of Thomas Blythe.

A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.

The Wedding of Jenny McGill
There were red roses, and white roses
At the wedding of Jenny McGill,
For she was a Roman Catholic,
And he of the other ilk,
But the priest had refused the Catholic Church
In the way that it was, back then,
For she was a Roman Catholic,
And he Presbyterian.
But her love had bloomed like a red, red rose
And his love had bloomed as well,
For love is the great uniting force
Of the Lord, this side of hell.
So she baked the bread with her loving hands
And he broke the bread with his,
The love shone out of his Protestant eyes
At the thought of wedded bliss.
Now she'd been raised in West Belfast
And he on the Shankill Road,
They were never supposed to fall in love
Like this, so they'd been told,
For the Orange Lord is an English Lord
And shunned, in the Irish way,
While the Lord of the Green is an Irish Lord,
So said the I.R.A.
They warned her once, they warned her twice
This wedding could never be,
For he was a Presbyterian
This John McGonachy,
And children had to be brought up right,
Believe in the Catholic scene,
And fight to unite dear Ireland
For St. Patrick and the Green.
McGonachy was told as well,
No good would come of this,
For he was a Presbyterian
And Jenny a Catholic.
His parents threatened to cut him off,
His friends just said: 'We'll see! '
He even got a visit at work
From the uniformed R.U.C.
But love should break down barriers,
And love should reign supreme,
They looked for a church to wed them both,
The Presbyterian.
She looked a picture when down the aisle
She walked, like an Angel queen,
He wore an Orange buttonhole,
And she a spray of Green.
The vicar read the service as
They gazed in each other's eyes,
Her love had bloomed as a red, red rose,
And his as a white surprise,
They made their vows so tenderly
Her dress, so white, so pale,
And then 'twas time to kiss the bride,
She lifted up her veil.
The stained glass window by the nave
That showed our Lord in grace,
Had lost some of the coloured glass
Around the Saviour's face,
Two shots rang out, and then two more,
The air was very still,
When red, red roses bloomed once more
On the dress of Jenny McGill.
The lovers died in each other's arms
And love died too, that day,
They carried them out of the chapel door
As some others turned to pray,
And some prayed to the Orange Lord
And some to the Green Lord still,
The Lord in the stained glass window wept
At the wedding of Jenny McGill.
They buried her down in a Catholic row,
And him by the Shankill Road,
Even in death they'd be kept apart
By the Green and the Orange code.
But the Lord is love, and he lifted them up
To a dwelling all white and cream,
Where the roses bloom in the wintertime,
And there's neither Orange nor Green.

Doors of Opportunity
Opportunities are given to those, believers, who the Lord has chose,
To share God’s Truth with the world, Truth every believer must herald.
We’re to be ready all of the time, even if there is no reason or rhyme,
To seize all God given opportunity, to direct men’s minds to Eternity.
Our time upon earth is brief for sure, so we need to enter every door,
Which is opened by the hand of God, as we’re lead by staff and rod,
While walking in faith, not only by sight, to be a Witness of His Light,
Being lead in a true spiritual sense, and mindful of God’s providence.
God’s providence truly paves the way, as we live our life, day to day,
Knowing that we’re in God’s will, His desire in believers, God shall fill,
Being kept every day by His Grace, as God guides us place to place,
To reach upon the earth everyone, with the Good News of God’s Son.
We must be mindful of the fact; God has given to us what we lacked,
As men before we came to believe, with the Spiritual gifts we receive,
Supplying to us what God needs, so that we can sow spiritual seeds,
This as we witness while in this life, sowing all seeds for Jesus Christ.
God may simply be watering those, seeds that another believer sows,
While His Spirit moves upon a heart, as believers simply do their part,
By seizing opportunities every day, as He opens doors along the way,
Daily opportunities God will afford, to those who witness for our Lord.
