Roses, Rubies, and Strawberries

Mi fantasma dulce

Send me a rose
This Valentine's Day
A single red

Reminds me of
The crimson light
We shared

Years ago

Mi fantasma dulce

Send me a ruby
This Valentine's Day
A single red

Reminds me of
The sparkling passion
We shared

Years ago

Mi fantasma dulce

Send me a strawberry
This Valentine's Day
A single red

Reminds me of
The earthen treats
We shared

Years ago

Mi fantasma dulce

Where did all those red years go?

Of

Roses
Rubies
And
Straw berries

Porque

Es día de San Valentín

Y tú no estás

Aquí

Angel fantasma

World War 1 Soldier Tailem Bend by Illawarrian

Pro patria mori

Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.
For generations
we've sold these goods
to young boys
who burn for glory.

Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.
Indeed, how sweet,
Pray tell
Poppy covered warrior.

Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.
How sweet was the Somme?
Such little ground
was gained with
half a generation gone.

Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.
When weapons
far outpace the men
what an empty word
is glory.

I saw men

I saw men wetting their pants
when the first bullets fly past them
in their first contact with the enemy
and I saw men,
shot out of their military boots
and lying broken and covered with blood.

I saw men burnt to ashes
by white phosphorous
in a shot out Ratel IFV
and I saw men
left limbless by landmines.

I saw men making the best
of what life dealt them
and fighting to survive
against the odds
and gaining victory,
against a outnumbering foe
and still believing the old lie:

Dulce et decorum est
pro patria mori

If You Were My Valentine

If you were my valentine,
I would be there in the morning
To see you when you open your eyes,
Before the sun wakes and the day begins.
To shower your bed with a hundred rose pedals
Until there's a garden around you
And yet you would still be the prettiest flower.
If you were my valentine.

If you were my valentine,
This day would belong to you
I would take you anywhere you want to go
And we could get away from the rest of the world
Till the moon rises in the sky and the sun says goodbye.
Together, just you and I
If you were my valentine.

If you were my valentine
I would do anything to see you smile
And I could be your teddy-bear,
With only hugs and kisses to share
If you were my valentine.
I could be your prince,
And you could be my princess
If you were my valentine
This poem would be yours, and so would I
If you were my valentine.

Oh Valentine, Valentine

Oh Valentine, Valentine! Won't you be mine?
Words called out to my one so divine
If the feeling is mutual then let heart intertwine
Oh Valentine, Valentine! I'll never find

Oh Valentine, Valentine! I'm lost in the lust
One look and I'm trembling, afraid and nervous
With hope that an angel will help from above
Oh Valentine, Valentine! A one sided love

Oh Valentine, Valentine! Won't you be mine?
On this one day of yearning, when souls intertwine
My brittle heart breaks upon words of decline
Oh Valentine, Valentine! You'll never be mine

Valentine Bliss

take this valentine kiss blown with bliss
this liily upon a smile
take this valentine oath
this woman be yours within the seam of your lip
with bundles of years to come and those passed
pray for you i remain chaste
like a vawe through my locks
your tips linger
with hope that every valentine in as ripe, as this day
this way, any valentine lay on turfs greener than leaf more iredicent than ever before

Do Not Forget

On this valentine day
Do not forget
Those
Who have no flowers to share
To whom
No one has ever told
That love exists
And that love is a feeling
That has to be shared
To whom
Some preacher
Has preached hatred only
Do not forget
Those
Who have no means
Of sharing their love
Those who have been robbed
Of their feelings
By some traditions
Customs
And beliefs
Those who have only
Been dreaming of red roses
And those
Whose beloveds are
In far off lands
In the name of
God
Or national cause
Or to earn a living
Those whose beloveds
Have martyred
Those
Who have never
Felt the warm feelings of love
The mothers
Whose sons
Have decided to destroy
Humanity
And those
Who engineer
All this destruction
Send roses to every one
Tell the soldier
That today
He stops the fire
Tell the cruel
That today
Let there be
That trace of love in his heart
Rekindled
To day
Let the peoples hearts
Fill with love
For each other and the humanity
Let’s imagine and think
And let the red color of the valentine
Be the color of every one
For today at least
(On valentine day)

To Be My Valentine

If you call all the time.
Place your love on the line.
I'll hear your voice in my ear.
You'll find it's perfectly clear.
To be my Valentine..

If you send me your heart.
It will give me a start.
Send your love if you dare.
You will find that it's fair.
To be my Valentine..

If you show me your love.
I will fly like a dove.
I will show no fear.
You will find it sincere.
To be my Valentine..

să-mi rămâi de-a pururi, asta îți doresc.

Munții tăi, Carpații, să-ți poarte drapelul,
Dunărea și Marea să te ocrotească,
Stele lucitoare să îți umple cerul,
Dragostea divină să te copleșească.

Ce-ți doresc eu ție dulce Românie?
Cu tine în suflet vreau să înfloresc
ca și macii roșii pe 'ntinsa-ți câmpie,
Dulce Românie, asta îți doresc,
Dulce Românie, veșnic te iubesc.

Broken Valentine

Once again it another valentine
And I am still lonely
Where should I run to and hide
Even though it just a folly

Once again I am single
And valentine passes by me swiftly
I would try in vain to mingle
In the company of old friends and enemies

Was it not just yesterday I lost him?
Now valentine is here and he is nowhere to be found
Would I pass through it cold and dim?
At least permit me to go and hide

I would not say anymore
Since you laugh at me on valentine day
I would take a trip and a dangerous tour
To hide my self in the chickens hay.

A Valentine Mystery

A Valentine Mystery

The day is drawing near,
Valentine day is here,
I have not heard from
Karina: the one I hold so dear

As all my poems does she read,
Comments on a few,
Gives me courage, to carry on,
This I must do.

As writing a new valentine not an easy task,
After all many years gone by, I sent out quite a few.
The thoughts all there, memories too.
The only thing gone wrong is whom I sent them to.
As any girl with ponytails, I knew what I had to do.
Many years gone by waiting for an answer this they never do.
As I left no forwarding address just hoping that they knew.

Some day I hope to get a Valentine from someone,
even if they don’t sign their name, I’ll think it’s just from you.
I be 83 my heart still has a spot, waiting just for you.

A Love Of Love Of Love

Well, honey it is January
And soon it will be February
I know what it reminds me
To remember you in Valentine's Day
And I know what is that day for
And I know what it is for
The love of love for all love
The love of love for sweetheart of
But we been sweetheart since then
My love for you ain't been forgotten
Though we have this strands of silver hair
Valentine's Day is nothing for me as I always care
And my love is always fresh like the morning
With our love still blending and refreshing
And refreshes my mind everyday
Not only on Valentine's Day

Two Valentines

I.-TO MISTRESS BARBARA

There were three cavaliers, all handsome and true,
On Valentine's day came a maiden to woo,
And quoth to your mother: 'Good-morrow, my dear,
We came with some songs for your daughter to hear!'

Your mother replied: 'I'll be pleased to convey
To my daughter what things you may sing or may say!'

Then the first cavalier sung: 'My pretty red rose,
I'll love you and court you some day, I suppose!'

And the next cavalier sung, with make-believe tears:
'I've loved you! I've loved you these many long years!'

But the third cavalier (with the brown, bushy head
And the pretty blue jacket and necktie of red)
He drew himself up with a resolute air,
And he warbled: 'O maiden, surpassingly fair!
I've loved you long years, and I love you to-day,
And, if you will let me, I'll love you for aye!'

I (the third cavalier) sang this ditty to you,
In my necktie of red and my jacket of blue;
I'm sure you'll prefer the song that was mine
And smile your approval on your valentine.

II.-TO A BABY BOY

Who I am I shall not say,
But I send you this bouquet
With this query, baby mine:
'Will you be my valentine?'

See these roses blushing blue,
Very like your eyes of hue;
While these violets are the red
Of your cheeks. It can be said
Ne'er before was babe like you.

And I think it is quite true
No one e'er before to-day
Sent so wondrous a bouquet
As these posies aforesaid-
Roses blue and violets red!

Sweet, repay me sweets for sweets-
'Tis your lover who entreats!
Smile upon me, baby mine-
Be my little valentine!

LXXXV

Who are you, reader, reading my poems an hundred years hence?
I cannot send you one single flower from this wealth of the
spring, one single streak of gold from yonder clouds.
Open your doors and look abroad.
From your blossoming garden gather fragrant memories of the
vanished flowers of an hundred years before.
In the joy of your heart may you feel the living joy that sang
one spring morning, sending its glad voice across an hundred
years.

Happy Valentime Day

so it's valentine day
so the calender did say
you pick up roses
on your way
and a big chocolate heart
to help plan your night
not a bad way to start
you even lit the fire light
getting the mood ready
along with soft music
cause it's valentine day
so the calender did say
so you put on your red tie
she wears her red dress
you both dance real close
not wanting the night to die
cause it's valentine day
so the calender did say
as you both go upstairs
following a pool of roses
you both go upstairs
without a care
letting your love
take it from here
so it's must be
valentine day
so the calender did say
so happy valentine day

Be My Valentine Jesus

Has anyone ever asked Jesus?
To be their Valentine?
I made a card just for Him
With a poem in which I’ve rhymed.

I could have done it in that normal verse
Written, ” Rose's are Red, Violet's Blue”
But I thought my dearest Savior Jesus
That I wanted to write something special, just for you.

I was going to cut the deepest of red paper
Into the shape of a GIANT red Valentine’s heart.
However, it didn’t seem like that was good enough
When I got my scissors out and tried to start.

Will you be my Valentine?
I would be so deeply honored if you would.
And I would be the envy of all my friends
To be seen, with a Valentine such as you.

Now you needn't send one on to me
For you’ve already given our world your heart.
Taking no concern of what your Father had in store for you
You knew your fate was pre-destined from its miraculous start.

To be born earth's King in a lowly manger
Then teaching those who would listen
Of your Father’s commanded word.
So a Valentine given to me, ” Dear Jesus? ”
Would just seem so wrong and too absurd.

Therefore, I’m asking you, 'Dearest Jesus'
Would you please be my, ”Valentine? ”
And I really hope you’ve enjoyed this cards poem
Written from my HEART, just for you, ' my Valentine'.

Black Valentine

Making love? Is it all I want? Do I really care for you?
These Questions are on my mind, passing through...
Kisses, Hugs and Roses.
Stuffed-dolls, chocolates and the voices...
Saying 'I Love You.'

It's been many years of 'I Love You',
Tears and laughs that together we've been through.
Thousand of kisses, hugs and wishes.
You know love is the reason why did I wrote this...

Black Valentine, No, Don't Approach me,
Let Mr.Cupid's arrow rip right through me.
Make this day as red as the roses,
Keep me away from broken-up promises!

Black Valentine, Black Valentine,
Never play with this heart of mine.
Let me be your soul mate, Let us blend.
Let the days of heart-break come to an end.

Flowers and chocolates could make you smile,
But would our love last for even a mile?
I could hear your voice and see your face,
But between us how come I feel a huge space?

Black Valentine, Black Valentine,
Even though you are always with me all the time,
I know that whatever I do, You can never be mine...

Gallivanting Valentine Thoughts...

what she has in mind is all romantic.
valentine's day
enough of chocolates and roses
or this motel thing,
away from the home that we built
mutually for
25 years.

why not go out for a while?
be with all the strangers in that far away place
and celebrate love?
she suggests.
a beach perhaps, or an escapade with those zip lines,
or a hideaway somewhere
in the desert,

hmm, i said, let me think about it,
after valentine's day.

(still got a bleeding heart to heal,
hardheaded and battered, and angry still)

just the same, happy valentine's to you my dear,
thanks.

will she leave? he asks. I know she won't.
but that will be alright.

alone again, he thinks, life must be one
happy solitude, hurtful, on the hinds, and blinds.
