Prose Poem lll
wore a rhapsodic expression, her body swayed to inaudible music. Then I gasped. Anyone could see the girl in the picture was surrounded by a wreathe-like aura of white light that shaped itself into what seemed very clerly to be arms and legs and the back of a head. Dutifully I read the article., leaning against the wall.
Alas, just as I thought, the girl in the photo was Eileen, at her niece's wedding in Missouri snapped by a family member, a number of years ago. The article explained how the girl in the photo danced with her father each year on his birthday. That gentleman had died of a stroke some months before the wedding at the age of ninety after a lifetime of perfect health. The wedding had been scheduled on his birthday for reasons of sentiment. The light in the photo was the ghost of her father, the article insisted, visiting from the land of Tir Na Nogh, and interrupting his rest to dance with his daughter on this special day.

Take A Picture
Just a picture, could mean a couple words,
But the one I hold dearly close to my heart,
Means more to me than anything else,
This photograph, you I love in black and white.
There are so many things I could say,
Though one word stands out amongst the rest,
It starts with love and ends with you,
The one I want to share with every single moment.
To be with you, at your side, and experience the joys,
Or you in my arms, holding you close to me, as you cry,
We're a team together, we work things out,
So we can both remember these dreams.
I've held your picture as I dream of us,
One day, we'll be holding our picture,
Wedding bells or birthday wishes,
Whichever comes first, I'll always be there.
Be there, when we say our wedding vows,
Or holding your hand as we welcome our new child,
Cheering you on when you go to your new job,
Seeing you smile as life passes us by.
I don't know what else to write or say,
As I look at the picture in my hands,
Putting my pen down and wishing you goodnight,
This photo of you, in black and white.
Grandma Kay’s 95th Birthday
Grandma Kay just turned ninety five,
on her birthday in 2009.
In her nursing home her family was there,
Watching her blew out birthday candle without a care.
She was the star of her birthday show,
She blew out a candle that sparkled and glowed.
Friends and family sang along,
to her personalized birthday song.
Her son Russ played the guitar,
this was her best birthday by far.
She unwrapped presents from family and friends,
she was very happy like a child again.
Photo memories are snapped in time,
To remember Kay’s 95th Birthday that shined.

Im The Girl
Ive got a memory
A thousand years old
And I know secrets
Ive never been told
And Ive got jewels
I havent found
And theyll return me
To the ground
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
And Im a siren
Ill wreck you on my shores
And Im godiva
Ill call you back for more
And Im medusa
And Im your favourite doll
And Im a georgia okeefe
Hanging on your wall
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
Im joan of arc
Im the girl next door
Im the mother and the daughter
Of the mother and the daughter before
And I remember being born just sound and light
And sound and light and light
And I remember the first time, skin on skin in the arms
In the arms of the night
Well how many times have we looked up into the starry skies
And how many times have we felt the passion rise
Every ruby-lipped girl baby, old lady, squaw junkie, girl after girl after girl
Every muse, whore, good witch, princess, back arching, year after year after year
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
Im joan of arc
Im the girl next door
Im the mother and the daughter
Of the mother and the daughter
The mother and the daughter
Of the mother and the daughter
The mother and the daughter
Of the mother and the daughter
Before.

Amore
A golden cake a wedding bell
and old tyme music softly tell
of Italy, love and romance
a soldier and his girl who danced
all of their wartime blues away
together still until this day
surrounded by their family
great grandchildren upon their knee
congratulations they all say
enjoy your golden wedding day

Lost Father
he will never say im there
never be able to say i care
as i grow and change through the years
i will never know what it is like
to be daddys little girl with my father by my side
my father was different
cruel and lost in a mind
that could never see a better light
satan took him over he took my father
we were sad and even mad
how do you forgive a father
who will never give me his blessings
never be there on my wedding day to walk me down the asile
never be there when i need to cry
he will never be a grandfather to my child
my father ruiened many lifes
not being able to face himself
one early morning he was not to awake
now sometimes i blame myself
i guess for being selfish and wanting to much
why could we not help and make him see?

Crying In Your Wedding Dress
The roads always run wet this time of year
Not with rain - with tears
Crying in your wedding dress
Tearing your hair out
The park was always freezing-over around now
Not with winter - with the pain
Of pulling off your ring
Screaming your lungs out
You wore that dress for 16 hours
You wore it too long
You wore it when you arrived
And you wore it when you woke up
I wore my invisible jacket
My invisible trousers
My invisible smile
All day
On our wedding day
The prototype for this event
The blueprint of this heart-ache
Is sketched so deeply in my mind
There was no other way it could be
On our wedding day
I was walking, drunk, stumbling
You were crying in your wedding dress
I was gone, I was never really there
You were crying in your wedding dress
I was broke for any feeling
You were broke for any hope
Crying in your wedding dress
On our wedding day

A wedding Invitation
Imagine if you woke up in the morning,
just from a dream about your wedding day,
and you found me,
like a gentleman kneeling on your front yard,
down on one knee,
With five carats of sapphire blue diamond ring,
To extend a cordial invitation to you,
asking you to be a part of my wedding....
Darling would you be the most important guest at my wedding...?
Imagine you with a TIARA on your head?
Imagine you in a cascade of white laces?
Imagine you in that perfect make-up?
Imagine you with the flowers in your hand?
Indeed being the queen you always have been,
So darling would you be the most important guest at my wedding....?
Ever thought of how that day would look like?
Daddy walking her little girl down the aisle,
and for one last time taking her home,
and handing her to the care of another man,
Tears on mummy's eyes having trouble letting go of her last baby,
You quitting the single ladies' club,
to become known as missus,
your friends dressed up in your favorite colors,
Dancing and giving you away to your best friend,
The guests sited in silent adoration of the moment,
some even with tears in their eyes,
as we exchange our vows,
promising to stay faithful to one another,
a lifetime of commitment to each other,
To have and to hold,
from this day forward,
Till death do us part,
So Darling would you be the most important guest at my WEDDING?

A Lonely Heart in a Thunderstorm
A lonely heart sets the table but is she a Milly,
a Betty or a Mabel. Tea, coffee, cakes and ale
but outside there blows a gale. Sash cord windows
rattling like chains, thunder and lighting tormenting her
brains. A frail old lady who always lays up for tea but no
one comes not even her family. As the rain pours down she
gives a little frown as she looks at a photo in her wedding
gown. A picture of love on her wedding day, a day she
never wanted to go away. Now all that's forgotton as the
clouds roll together, will her lonely heart stand up to this
gale force weather. She draws the curtains and says
goodnight to the storm then sits by the fire where its
cosy and warm.
No visitors tonight she says to the cat who lay curled up
on the fireside mat. Again she views her wedding day and
asks the Lord to show her the way. Then she holds the cat
to her lonely heart so that they will never be apart. The dear
old lady died that night and the cat now sits on her burial site.

The Song That Triggers My Memory
As she lay dying with the radio playing softly in the background,
The notes of a song so sweet tickled and triggered her memory,
Number one in the charts the week she was born,
Playing at her eighteenth birthday party as she floated and swayed in a glorious dance,
The first dance with her first and only boyfriend was during this melody,
Playing at their wedding as a song they claimed ‘theirs’,
Playing its gentle coaxing notes as she made love with her husband on their wedding night,
Had danced and spun to it with her children, spinning them in her arms until all fell to the floor in a dizzy heap,
Now it plays softly in the background as her life slowly trickles away from her,
As she loses that once firm hold on a life so dear,
Triggering her memory to a life that would end with the last single note of a now bittersweet symphony.

It's really a grand Wedding!
I couldn't believe the unexpected invitation
And I was sitting at the gallery,
Because my old Gaberdine suit is not suitable for such a Wedding.
Mr.Winston Churchill sat beside me and smiled like an old friend!
We talked about the recent wars and global warming.
He gave me his old pipe and the tobacco pouch
Before he leaves.
I thought when I come back home tell my beloved wife to get a photograph
From the digital camera our daughter sent us.
Darling that photo with his pipe I want to send to Oprah's magazine
And definitely our precious relatives critize the scribbler
Now smoke with expensive pipes!

Saturn’s Rings
I took Eileen
For a walk
On Saturn's rings.
We walked
On the ice,
Warm stones,
And solid cosmic
Dust.
We watched the sun
Burning
Faraway;
It is beautiful
To watch
The sun
From Saturn's
Rings
And Eileen
Is my only credible witness
And companion.
As we walked,
Eileen
Talked about
Her perfect
Kiss,
Wedding ring,
Wedding dress,
Wedding kiss,
She said:
' Yeah!
I like to be here,
To dance here,
To be kissed here,
At the witness of the far burning
Sun,
The beauty of Saturn,
Its rings,
And the one who
Took me
To walk
On Saturn's rings.

A Girl Named Fred
Once upon a time not many years ago
a girl named Fred fell in love with a boy named Fran.
Although the names seemed an odd combination
and could easily be confused by people who did not know
that Fred was a girl and Fran was a boy.
They made the perfect couple as everyone agreed
and when their wedding day arrived,
the priest who was standing in
did not know about the names
only that he was marrying a Fred to a Fran.
Turning to Fran he said,
Fred with you take this woman
to be your lawful wedded wife.
Excuse me Father, but I think that should be husband.
The priest looked up a bit dismayed, but just carried on.
Turning to Fred said Fran will you take this man
to be your lawful wedded husband.
Excuse me Father, but I think that should wife.
The priest’ eyes rolled around in his head
very dazed and confused.
The silent sniggers in the congregation began to grow louder
as peels of laughter not bells rang out within the church.
The poor priest was now in utter disarray
and after blessing the rings;
he handed them back the wrong way about.
Then the poor priest red faced said
to whomever I pronounce you man and wife.
Just to make things more riotous
someone switched the Wedding March
to Rock Around The Clock,
which sent the bride and groom bopping down the isle,
and the poor priest he had a nervous breakdown
saying he would never perform
a wedding ceremony again.
He would stick to funerals
as there was only one body involved
and they wouldn’t talk back to him.

Your Perfect Little Girl...
Your perfect little girl dropped a grade on her report card.
Your perfect little girl yelled at you last night.
Your perfect little girl painted her nails black.
Your perfect little girl lied to you all her life.
Your perfect little girl cries herself to sleep.
Your perfect little girl slits her wrists till she bleeds.
Your perfect little girl hates you.
Your perfect little girl hates herself.
Your perfect little girl has given up on life.
Your perfect little girl had a tantrum today.
Your perfect little girl has her head in the toilet after dinner.
Your perfect little girl wants to run away.
Your perfect little girl hasn't let you dry her tears.
Your perfect little girl disobeyed you.
Your perfect little girl hates the world.
Your perfect little girl is hated by the world.
Your perfect little girl is very unhappy.
Your perfect little girl tried to commit suicide.
Your perfect little girl became a disgrace.
Your perfect little girl keeps alot of secrets.
Your perfect little girl deals with everything on her own
Your perfect little girl had to grow up too fast.
Your perfect little girl is on the edge of breakdown.
Your perfect little girl just isn't so perfect anymore.

Sukis Missing
Writers: leo sayer & alan tarney
Let me tell you bout a girl I knew
A rollin stone
The sort of girl you give your lifetime to
But you never own
Sukis missing -- shes not at home
Sukis missing -- address unknown
On the paper there were fifteen words
Saying sukis gone
A scribbled line to whom it may concern
Saying nothings wrong
Sukis missing -- told a lie or two
Sukis missing -- didnt leave a clue
Missing missing missing
I call on missing persons
Leave your number youll be called
Help me operator cos Im going up the wall
Ive tried every method to get suki back again
Now Im telling a computer
bout the shape that Im in
I know its looking bad cos there hasnt been
Back a word
So Im asking on the street
You seen a chinese girl?
Theres a poster on the box
Upon the police station wall
Theres a photo there of suki
She was with me I recall
Sukis missing -- missing
I got to get that chinese girl

For My Wedding
(larry john mcnally)
For my wedding, I will dress in black
And never again will I look back
Ah, my dark angels we must part
For Ive made a sanctuary of my heart
To want what I have
To take what Im given with grace
For this I pray
On my wedding day
For my wedding, I dont want violins
Or sentimental songs about thick and thin
I want a moment of silence and a moment of prayer
For the love well need to make it in the world out there
To want what I have
To take what Im given with grace
For this I pray
On my wedding day
On my wedding day
I dream, and my dreams are all glory and light
Thats what Ive wanted for my life
And if it hasnt always been that way
Well, I can dream and I can pray
On my wedding day
So what makes us any different from all the others
Who have tried and failed before us
Maybe nothing, maybe nothing at all
But I pray were the lucky ones; I pray we never fall
To want what we have
To take what were given with grace
For these things I pray
On my wedding day
On my wedding day

In My Nightmares
In my nightmares, I am running from the truth.
All is see is myself lonely, and trapped in a dark room.
But what could I really be running from?
I am running from the fact that I don’t have a father.
I grew up not knowing who he was.
Everyday I would wonder if he missed me as much as I missed him.
Sometimes I would cry myself to sleep because I felt so alone.
I know that I will never have the perfect family.
I know that my dad won’t be there to dance with me
At the father daughter dances or even give me away at my wedding.
I cried because I felt like there was something or someone missing.
I already knew that he wasn’t coming back.
But that’s not what hurt the most.
What hurts the most was thinking that I was probably the reason why he left.
People say I shouldn't blame myself.
But if I was so great then why did he leave in the first place?
Why was he never there on any of my birthday’s?
Or when I graduated Elementary School.
How come he won’t be there when I graduate High School or college.
But what is the saddest part is that my nightmares are reality!

Daddy's Lil Girl No More
look at me and tell me who you see
is it the girl i am
or the girl i used to be
you say i'm still your lil girl
well can't you see
i'm no longer her
i havent been
and can never be again
the girl i once was
she disappeared
faded away at such a young age
the lil girl she was
it all ended so soon
forcing her to grow up
faster than she should have
can't you see
the lil girl i used to be
she died the night this never ending war began
the war of a daughter and a father
you started this all
when i was just a lil girl
you cannot see her anymore
but here you are
still believing i'm the same
daddy's lil girl
you cannot see the pain you caused
the tears you made shed
you cannot see your lil girl
fore she is dead
you left me as this girl i am now
hurt and scared
rough around the edge
now look at me and tell me who you see
is it the girl i am
or the one i used to be
