Phantom Storm - (Villanelle)

a storm is coming up the coast
some other place they’d rather be
the mariners fear this one most

they pour some rum and drink a toast
as tortured souls try to break free
a storm is coming up the coast

a skeleton ship that’s manned by ghosts
made up of sailors lost at sea
the mariners fear this one most

abandoned hope and left their posts
from sinking ships they could not flee
a storm is coming up the coast

in pirate tales they often boast
but now reduced to beg and plea
the mariners fear this one most

they sold their souls to Satan’s host
to sail into eternity
a storm is coming up the coast
the mariners fear this one most

The Storm

The Storm is coming
The day when nothing will matter
When troubles will be gone and war will be history

The storm is coming
Make you are prepared
it will come with no warning.
No one will know the day of it destruction

The storm is coming
Feel it's wrath
Everything you do now will be meaningless
Everything sticks and nothing is forgotten
The day of judgement is at hand

The storm is coming
Have you taken heed
Have you changed your ways
Have seen the errors you have made
Have you heard the sound of pain you have caused
The storm is coming and those who don't take heed will fall.

The storm is coming
It will be unavoidable
Be prepared and be afraid

Lost & Found

Waiting for the hurricane
To hit new york city
Somebody said its hit the bay
This is the nitty gritty
And all the bag ladies
Better put their acts together
Were near the eye of the storm
This is really heavy weather
We were lost and found, in the nick of time
While the ship was going down
We were lost and found, just in time
With the hurricane crossing the coast line
We were lost and found, just in time
Oh
This thing is bigger than the both of us
Its gonna put us in our place
We were lost and found, just in time
Now weve got no time to waste
Theyre putting up the barricades
Because the hurricane is heading up this way
So wont you come in from the cold and the pouring rain
And the old see dog says shiver me timbers
The skys gone black
And its like the dead of winter
We were lost and found in the pouring rain
When the hurricane swept across the coast line
This thing is bigger than the both of us
Its gonna put us in our place
Were gonna see what really matters
When you see that storm stare us in the face
We were lost and found
And we beat the fear
We came through the storm
Now it all seems clear
We were lost and found, standing here
Looking at the new frontier
Lost and found, just in time
With the hurricane crossing the coast line
Lost and found, just in time
With the hurricane crossing the coast line

At The Port Of Kolambugan

the news is that
another storm is coming
and our boat is still on this port
that we fear
for once there was terror here
a bomb exploded
planted by this unknown terrorist
and many died
the boat was burned
and many bodies still burning
jumped and drowned in the sea
most of them
children and women

i am sensing the colder wind
from the sea
the touch of the
coming storm
i can sense its strength
while i wait
for the decision whether
to go sailing or not
so we can reach the
other island facing us
with a warm welcome

i look for a sign
and see this pigeon
hovering above
my head
as though saying
warning

do not,
i have all the reasons
to listen

we sleep here for the night
we shall let this storm pass

Coast To Coast

Last stop for a resolution
End of the line, is it confusion?
So go. Go see whats there for you
Nothing new, nothing new for you to use
I've got no new act to amuse you
I've got no desire to use you, you know
But anything that I could do, would never be good enough for you
If you can't help it then just leave it alone
Leave it alone, yeah, just forget it
It's really easy
I believe I'll forget it too
Still you're keepin' me around
Til I finally drag us both down
Streaming feathers out your hat
Yes I believe that's where it's at
You belong tagging along
And I belong in your zoo
So I wait for confirmation
That you're never gonna use your starting gun
Unless its me it sounds like being here just wasn't that much fun
Anything that I could do
Would never be good enough for you
If you can't help it then just leave it alone
Leave me alone, yeah, just forget it
It's really easy
I'll just forget it too
Coast to coast, coast to coast
I'll do what I can so you can be what you do
Coast to coast, coast to coast
I'll do everything I can so you can be what you do
Coast to coast, coast to coast
Circuit rider comes every fifth sunday
Oh my lord, I fell asleep one day
Anything that I could do
Is there anything that I could do
That someone doesn't do for you
That someone didn't do for you
That I haven't already done for you

Before The Storm

Red gates of iron cast their
Black shadows on this land
Dividing souls... far below
The gathering winds the armies watch
Are rising from the west
Foretelling news... of freedoms hand
In secrecy theyve infiltrated
All of our strongholds
Controlling more... year after year
So weve let this happen all along
Believing whats been said
Our leaders cry... we have no one to fear
We watch the sun rise, and hope
We watch the sun rise, and hope
That it wont be our last
Before the storm
Before the storm
Before the storm
Before the storm
Is it late to try, must we all die
Our system awaits testv freedom by choice...
Is it for all men, best
So we wait in fear the atom split
Our hearts in two be torn
Learn from the past... before the storm
We watch the sunrise, and hope
We watch the sunrise, and hope
That it wont be our last

Bantry Bay

On the eighteenth of October we lay in Bantry Bay,
All ready to set sail, with a fresh and steady gale:
A fortnight and nine days we in the harbour lay,
And no breeze ever reached us or strained a single sail.
Three ships of war had we, and the great guns loaded all;
But our ships were dead and beaten that had never feared a foe.
The winds becalmed around us cared for no cannon ball;
They locked us in the harbour and would not let us go.

On the nineteenth of October, by eleven of the clock,
The sky turned black as midnight and a sudden storm came on--
Awful and sudden--and the cables felt the shock;
Our anchors they all broke away and every sheet was gone.
The guns fired off amid the strife, but little hope had we;
The billows broke above the ship and left us all below.
The crew with one consent cried 'Bear further out to sea,'
But the waves obeyed no sailor's call, and we knew not where to go.

She foundered on a rock, while we clambered up the shrouds,
And staggered like a mountain drunk, wedged in the waves almost.
The red hot boiling billows foamed in the stooping clouds,
And in that fatal tempest the whole ship's crew were lost.
Have pity for poor mariners, ye landsmen, in a storm.
O think what they endure at sea while safe at home you stay.
All ye that sleep on beds at night in houses dry and warm,
O think upon the whole ship's crew, all lost at Bantry Bay.

Back To The Coast

West coast, try outs
You've got to make it before you die out
New York is the hard way
Time to pack it up and get to L.A.
If you want to be a star get back to the coast
Back to the coast
You're gonna make it real far so get back to the coast
Back to the coast
My way is the sky way
Ain't got no time for the highway
I've got to get to the coast, fast as I can
Get to L.A. we'll be the number one band
If you want to be a star get back to the coast
Back to the coast
You're gonna make it real far so get back to the coast
Back to the coast (come on)
You've got to get on back (get back)
If you want to be a star get back to the coast
Back to the coast
You're gonna make it real far so get back to the coast
Back to the coast
I say back back back back back, back to the coast
Oooo, yeah get back back back back back, back to the coast
Whoa yeah
If you want to be a star get back to the coast
Back to the coast
You're gonna make it real far so get back to the coast
Back to the coast (oh, get on back), back to the coast

Bible Stories: Jonah (Part I)

Chapter I:

To Jonah, came the word of God,
The son of Amittai,
“Go to city of Nineveh
And warn them that their wickedness
Has come before the Lord! ”

But Jonah tried to flee from God
And boarded fast a ship;
He paid the fare to reach Tarshish,
To escape from the Lord!

God raised a tempest on the sea
That tried to break the ship;
The mariners got frightened much,
‘Each one cried to his God! ’

They threw the cargo in the sea,
While Jonah lay asleep;
The captain rudely told Jonah,
‘Pray God, we mustn’t perish! ’

They cast lots to detect the one,
Who brought them misfortune;
Poor Jonah turned to be culprit!
They questioned his business.

Then Jonah told them, ’I’m Hebrew,
My God’s the Creator!
He is the God of Heaven, earth,
And made the land and sea.’

When Jonah told he fled the Lord,
The men were seized with fear;
The sea was turning turbulent;
At stake were their lives dear.

So, Jonah told them, ‘Pick me up;
Throw me into the sea;
The storm was on account of me;
Perhaps, it could calm be.

The men rowed hard but saw no land;
The sea grew furious;
They prayed to God to forgive them,
And hurled Jonah in sea!

To their surprise, the sea turned calm;
May be, they did right thing;
They offered sacrifice to God
For, they were struck by fear!

The Mantle Of St. John De Matha. A Legend Of

A STRONG and mighty Angel,
Calm, terrible, and bright,
The cross in blended red and blue
Upon his mantle white!
Two captives by him kneeling,
Each on his broken chain,
Sang praise to God who raiseth
The dead to life again!
Dropping his cross-wrought mantle,
'Wear this,' the Angel said;
'Take thou, O Freedom's priest, its sign, —
The white, the blue, and red.'
Then rose up John de Matha
In the strength the Lord Christ gave,
And begged through all the land of France
The ransom of the slave.
The gates of tower and castle
Before him open flew,
The drawbridge at his coming fell,
The door-bolt backward drew.
For all men owned his errand,
And paid his righteous tax;
And the hearts of lord and peasant
Were in his hands as wax.
At last, outbound from Tunis,
His bark her anchor weighed,
Freighted with seven-score Christian souls
Whose ransom he had paid.
But, torn by Paynim hatred,
Her sails in tatters hung;
And on the wild waves, rudderless,
A shattered hulk she swung.
'God save us!' cried the captain,
'For naught can man avail;
Oh, woe betide the ship that lacks
Her rudder and her sail!
'Behind us are the Moormen;
At sea we sink or strand:
There's death upon the water,
There's death upon the land!'
Then up spake John de Matha:
'God's errands never fail!
Take thou the mantle which I wear,
And make of it a sail.'
They raised the cross-wrought mantle,
The blue, the white, the red;
And straight before the wind off-shore
The ship of Freedom sped.
'God help us!' cried the seamen,
'For vain is mortal skill:
The good ship on a stormy sea
Is drifting at its will.'
Then up spake John de Matha:
'My mariners, never fear!
The Lord whose breath has filled her sail
May well our vessel steer!'
So on through storm and darkness
They drove for weary hours;
And lo! the third gray morning shone
On Ostia's friendly towers.
And on the walls the watchers
The ship of mercy knew, —
They knew far off its holy cross,
The red, the white, and blue.
And the bells in all the steeples
Rang out in glad accord,
To welcome home to Christian soil
The ransomed of the Lord.
So runs the ancient legend
By bard and painter told;
And lo! the cycle rounds again,
The new is as the old!
With rudder foully broken,
And sails by traitors torn,
Our country on a midnight sea
Is waiting for the morn.
Before her, nameless terror;
Behind, the pirate foe;
The clouds are black above her,
The sea is white below.
The hope of all who suffer,
The dread of all who wrong,
She drifts in darkness and in storm,
How long, O Lord! how long?
But courage, O my mariners!
Ye shall not suffer wreck,
While up to God the freedman's prayers
Are rising from your deck.
Is not your sail the banner
Which God hath blest anew,
The mantle that De Matha wore,
The red, the white, the blue?
Its hues are all of heaven, —
The red of sunset's dye,
The whiteness of the moon-lit cloud,
The blue of morning's sky.
Wait cheerily, then, O mariners,
For daylight and for land;
The breath of God is in your sail,
Your rudder is His hand.
Sail on, sail on, deep-freighted
With blessings and with hopes;
The saints of old with shadowy hands
Are pulling at your ropes.
Behind ye holy martyrs
Uplift the palm and crown;
Before ye unborn ages send
Their benedictions down.
Take heart from John de Matha! —
God's errands never fail!
Sweep on through storm and darkness,
The thunder and the hail!
Sail on! The morning cometh,
The port ye yet shall win;
And all the bells of God shall ring
The good ship bravely in!

Take advantage of these times she said
You let me down.
It hasn't been the first time.
As I'm falling in the pit of fire my mind's made up.
I'm never coming back here.
and How long would it take me to walk across the United States all alone.
The West coast has been traumatized.
I think I'm the only one still alive.
Is it just a coincidence to see you by yourself with no direction.
Now it's time to move on.
Don't you know that things aren't getting better.
and How long would it take me to walk across the United States all alone.
The West coast has been traumatized.
I think I'm the only one still alive
When the world caves in what are you going to do for me.
Don't try and stop me.
Because I'm falling fast into this pit of fire which surrounds us all.
In a blanket of fear that I've been wrapped in for years.
don't try to stop me. You can't stop me.
and How long would it take me to walk across the United States all alone.
The West coast has been traumatized.
I think I'm the only one still alive.
and How long would it take me to walk across the United States all alone.

No Place That Far

I can't imagine any greater fear
Than walking up without you here
And though the sun would still shine on
My whole world would all be gone
But not for long

If I had to run
If I had to crawl
If I had to swim a hundred rivers
Just to climb a thousand walls
Always know that I would find a way
To get to where you are
There's no place that far
It wouldn't matter why we're apart
Lonely months

Clear Across America Tonight

(Randy Owen/Teddy Gentry/Ronnie Rogers/Greg Fowler)
Just outside of Austin
I turned on my radio
Turned it in to a satellite station
She was talkin' on a call-in show
She said it was over, she'd made her choice
Her mind was made-up by the sound of her voice
Clear across America tonight
Clear coast-to-coast tonight
She's long gone, she's outta here
But she's comin' through loud and clear
Clear across America tonight
Sounded like he really had it coming
All the times he'd done her wrong
She said, I hope he's listening
And hung-up the telephone
All of a sudden, I realized
It was me she was telling good-bye
Clear across America tonight
Clear coast-to-coast tonight
She's long gone, she's outta here
But she's comin' through loud and clear
Clear across America tonight
Hello dj, put me on the air
Give me the chance to tell her I still care
Get her back on the line, tell her I'm still in love
Said, "sorry son, but you're breaking up"
Clear across America tonight
Clear coast-to-coast tonight
She's long gone, she's outta here
But she's comin' through loud and clear
Across America tonight
Across America tonight
Clear across America tonight
Clear across America tonight
Clear across America tonight

Red Rain

Red rain is coming down
Red rain
Red rain is pouring down
Pouring down all over me
I am standing up at the waters edge in my dream
I cannot make a single sound as you scream
It cant be that cold, the ground is still warm to touch
This place is so quiet, sensing that storm
Red rain is coming down
Red rain
Red rain is pouring down
Pouring down all over me
Well Ive seen them buried in a sheltered place in this town
They tell you that this rain can sting, and look down
There is no blood around see no sign of pain
Hay ay ay no pain
Seeing no red at all, see no rain
Red rain is coming down
Red rain
Red rain is pouring down
Pouring down all over me
Red rain-
Putting the pressure on much harder now
To return again and again
Just let the red rain splash you
Let the rain fall on your skin
I come to you defences down
With the trust of a child
Red rain is coming down
Red rain
Red rain is pouring down
Pouring down all over me
And I cant watch any more
No more denial
Its so hard to lay down in all of this
Red rain is coming down
Red rain is pouring down
Red rain is coming down all over me
I see it
Red rain is coming down
Red rain is pouring down
Red rain is coming down all over me
Im bathing in it
Red rain coming down
Red rain is coming down
Red rain is coming down all over me
Im begging you
Red rain coming down
Red rain coming down
Red rain coming down
Red rain coming down
Over me in the red red sea
Over me
Over me
Red rain

Got to let it show

I got to let it show
Theres a new me coming out
And I just had to live
And I wanna give
Im completely positive
I think this time around
I am gonna do it
Like you never do it
Like you never knew it
Ooh, Ill make it through
The time has come for me
To break out of the shell
I have to shout
That Im coming out
Im coming out
I want the world to know
Got to let it show
Im coming out
I want the world to know
I got to let it show
Im coming out
I want the world to know
Got to let it show
Im coming out
I want the world to know
I got to let it show
Ive got to show the world
All that I wanna be
And all my billities
Theres so much more to me
Somehow, I have to make them
Just understand
I got it well in hand
And, oh, how Ive planned
Im spreadin love
Theres no need to fear
And I just feel so glad
Everytime I hear:
Im coming out

Fear is...

Fear is stormy weather
Fear is light as a feather
Fear is rain
Fear is pain
Fear is hiding in the dark
Fear is lingering at the park
Fear is not your friend
Fear is hard to comprehend
Fear is not knowing what to do
Fear is what ever he wants to
Fear is turning out the lights
Fear is having no sight
Fear is going to give you a thrill
Fear is also going to make you kill
Fear is never fun
Fear is going to make you run
Fear is that scary little voice
Fear is going to give you no other choice
Fear is losing someone
Fear is like a loaded gun
Fear is something you can't control
Fear is something you can't unfold
Fear is the opposite of love
Fear is what we're made of
Fear is not going to plea
Fear is always me...

Storm

Storms out on the water
I watch it getting closer
Are you coming home
All these years we've wondered
Trying to break the cycle
All these years of hope
And my heart feels the strain
But it makes me feel like I'm alive again
Sometimes in our lives
We need the pain
So I find some candles
Put out all the anchors
Pull the shutters down
Makes me think about us
All the things that got lost
Still we're holding on
And the storm rushes in
But it makes me feel like I'm alive again
Sometimes in our lives
We need the pain
The wind, the rain, the storm will wash us clean again
The wind, the rain, the storm will shake us up again
The wind, the rain, the storm will make us think again
The wind
And maybe we can start again
Storms out on the water
See and sky become one
Are you coming home

Above Life’s Storms

These are down times, said by most, affecting all, coast to coast,
Very hard times economically, touching in many ways you and me,
But, those in God can rise above, all these down times, spoken of,
High above, with God’s power, through the darkest times and hour.

Though tough times get us down, in The Lord our strength is found,
As we receive The Lord’s Favor, we find strength that will not waver,
Like an eagle in grace and form, God helps us rise above the storm,
Peace and hope our Lord brings, to soar with God on eagle’s wings.

In times of uncertainty we can soar, as we wait for God’s open door,
Closing the storm securely behind, filling us with true peace of mind,
And after the storm by God’s Grace, He guides us to a stable place,
Just like the eagle fully assured, positioned by the hand of our Lord.

Though the times be dark as night, we can go forth shining His Light,
To a world that’s lost in the storm, with our witness, gentle and warm,
Leading men from a coldness of life, into the warmth of Jesus Christ,
Who helps all believers to cope, in life’s storms with God given hope.

When times are darkened by men, in The Son you can be Born Again,
With a hope to New Life Eternally, never affected by man’s economy,
But, an economy created with love, by The Savior, who reigns above,
Where storms are all in the past, and all of God’s Ways Eternally last.

America

Written by: neil diamond
Far
Weve been travelling far
Without a home
But not without a star
Free
Only want to be free
We huddle close
Hang on to a dream
On the boats and on the planes
Theyre coming to america
Never looking back again
Theyre coming to america
Home, dont it seem so far away
Oh, were travelling light today
In the eye of the storm
In the eye of the storm
Home, to a new and a shiny place
Make our bed, and well say grace
Freedoms light burning warm
Freedoms light burning warm
Everywhere around the world
Theyre coming to america
Every time that flags unfurled
Theyre coming to america
Got a dream to take them there
Theyre coming to america
Got a dream theyve come to share
Theyre coming to america
Theyre coming to america
Theyre coming to america
Theyre coming to america
Theyre coming to america
Today, today, today, today, today
My country tis of thee
(today)
Sweet land of liberty
(today)
Of thee I sing
(today)
Of thee I sing
(today)

Sign Of The Cross

Eleven saintly shrouded men
silhouettes stand against the sky
one in front with a cross held high
come to wash my sins away

Standing alone in the wind and rain
feeling the fear that is growing
Sensing the change in the tide again
brought by the storm that is brewing
Feel the anxiety hold off the fear
some of the doubt in the things you believe
Now that your faith will be put to the test
nothing to do but await what is coming
Why is then God still protecting me
even when I don't deserve it?
Though I am blessed with an inner strenght
some they would call it a penance
Why am I meant to face this alone
asking the question time and again
Praying to God won't keep me alive
Inside my head feel the fear start to rise...

They'll be saving their prayers when the moment comes
there'll be penance to pay when it's judgement day
And the guilty'll bleed when that moment comes
they'll be coming to claim

To run From Someone..

Am I running from me,
Or, someone I don't want to see?
When, I was far, I wanted to be near.
But, coming near, I discovered a fear,
a fear, which takes me away,
as there's no way,
to be near, near, near.
Is there any fear,
puts me in sheer
insecurity, and anger?
I know the cause,
as because
once love is hurt,
it gets apart,
from its part,
tearing its heart!
So, coming near,
I'm, staying far.
