Welter of white foam
covering the sandy beach
like whirlwind that chills
the ardent dropp of tear sees
an ominous surge of seas.

The Fisher's Widow

The boats go out and the boats come in
Under the wintry sky;
And the rain and foam are white in the wind,
And the white gulls cry.

She sees the sea when the wind is wild
Swept by a windy rain;
And her heart's a-weary of sea and land
As the long days wane.

She sees the torn sails fly in the foam,
Broad on the sky-line gray;
And the boats go out and the boats come in,
But there's one away.

Whirlwind

Orbison/dees
Youre the figure of a woman
Youre the mind of a child
A pretty whirlwind
You dont know just what youre doing
When you love me with your smile
A lovely whirlwind
A whirlwind of warm desire
Whirlwind, burning fire woman, realize
That the devil in disguise, is a whirlwind
Born to be running wild and free
Whirlwind
Born to make fools of guys like me
You pick me up like a whirlwind
You put me down like a whirlwind
Each time you touch me Im trouble-bound
Whirl,whirl,whirlwind, whirl,whirl,whirlwind
Whirl,whirl,whirlwind, whirl,whirl,whirlwind

Sandy

Sandy's the beach
And Sandy was her name,
The place we laid, and played,
Little lovers games.

Together we sat, Sandy and I
Upon the flowing edge of the great sea,
Finding our souls, while
Discovering how to fly free.

The summer's over now
Those days are done,
We've grown, and flown,
And left our youthful fun...
Upon a lonely shore of the setting sun.

A Scene In A Little Town

the sky is white
the sea is blue like silk

on the sea three fishermen
pull their net

their boat is small
and wooden

on the sandy beach
a child plays with his white dog

how peaceful is this place
how wonderful is this life!

Intimacy

an old man with a
white beard
wrinkled face
bald and slouchy
walking slowly
with his olive oyl
on the white sandy beach
the sun shines
the waves foamy
the sea breeze
cool and
caressing

Whirlwind

(ferry/manzanera)
May day
Cut down to size again
What then
When less is more my friend
Ill change
Let me start again
Disguise
Its too weird to explain
Why ill
Always call your name
Adieu; with you
I could be anything
That I want to be
Whirlwind
Wildfire and driving rain
Wheels spin
Bowl me over hurricane
Whirlwind
Crack your cheeks and blow
Me far
So far
How far
Is shangri-la from here
And is it this way?
There she blows
Tear me down tornado
Whirlpool
Drag me to the deeps below
Whirlwind
Will a wildcat strike be tame?
Earthquake
Shake me to my feet again
Its crosswords go you near
A fatal clue I fear
This case is closed
Elementally, my dear.
Beware
Whirlwind

A Sandy Beach In April

I stood on a sandy beach
on an April weekend.
The sun was shining bright
on each wave
that carried its reflection in.
The sky in the west
was filled with mottled clouds
and on occasional breaks;
the sun’s rays peaked through.
An easterly breeze
lifted the sand into little swirls
and carried them a short while
before depositing them down again,
as I walked along a sandy beach in April.

Christina Georgina Rossetti

A Bird’s-Eye View

'Croak, croak, croak,'
Thus the Raven spoke,
Perched on his crooked tree
As hoarse as hoarse could be.
Shun him and fear him,
Lest the Bridegroom hear him;
Scout him and rout him
With his ominous eye about him.

Yet, 'Croak, croak, croak,'
Still tolled from the oak;
From that fatal black bird,
Whether heard or unheard:
'O ship upon the high seas,
Freighted with lives and spices,
Sink, O ship,' croaked the Raven:
'Let the Bride mount to heaven.'

In a far foreign land,
Upon the wave-edged sand,
Some friends gaze wistfully
Across the glittering sea.
'If we could clasp our sister,'
Three say, 'now we have missed her!'
'If we could kiss our daughter!'
Two sigh across the water.

Oh, the ship sails fast
With silken flags at the mast,
And the home-wind blows soft;
But a Raven sits aloft,
Chuckling and choking,
Croaking, croaking, croaking:—
Let the beacon-fire blaze higher;
Bridegroom, watch; the Bride draws nigher.

On a sloped sandy beach,
Which the spring-tide billows reach,
Stand a watchful throng
Who have hoped and waited long:
'Fie on this ship, that tarries
With the priceless freight it carries.
The time seems long and longer:
O languid wind, wax stronger;'—

Whilst the Raven perched at ease
Still croaks and does not cease,
One monotonous note
Tolled from his iron throat:
'No father, no mother,
But I have a sable brother:
He sees where ocean flows to,
And he knows what he knows, too.'

A day and a night
They kept watch worn and white;
A night and a day
For the swift ship on its way:
For the Bride and her maidens
—Clear chimes the bridal cadence—
For the tall ship that never
Hove in sight for ever.

On either shore, some
Stand in grief loud or dumb
As the dreadful dread
Grows certain though unsaid.
For laughter there is weeping,
And waking instead of sleeping,
And a desperate sorrow
Morrow after morrow.

Oh, who knows the truth,
How she perished in her youth,
And like a queen went down
Pale in her royal crown:
How she went up to glory
From the sea-foam chill and hoary,
From the sea-depth black and riven
To the calm that is in Heaven?

They went down, all the crew,
The silks and spices too,
The great ones and the small,
One and all, one and all.
Was it through stress of weather,
Quicksands, rocks, or all together?
Only the Raven knows this,
And he will not disclose this.—

After a day and year
The bridal bells chime clear;
After a year and a day
The Bridegroom is brave and gay:
Love is sound, faith is rotten;
The old Bride is forgotten:—
Two ominous Ravens only
Remember, black and lonely.

The storm that hangs threatening

From Margate beach
I see a ship sailing past,
with people that are
dots on it.

The summer sun is hot and high
but there’s a strong wind
that swishes over the sea
and waves that like white spectre horses,
curl and twist and rise foaming
and shattering
fall to death against rocks and the beach

On the horizon grey clouds hang ominous,
where a storm is rising
and the sky breaks the water.

I am caught up in a life
that is broken into pieces
and I wonder when
the storm is going to overwhelm me.

Sandy

Stranded at the drive-in
Branded as a fool
What will they say monday at school
Sandy
Cant you see Im in misery
We made a start
Now were apart
Theres nothing left for me
Love has grown
All alone I sit and wonder why
Why you left me
Oh sandy
O sandy baby
Someday when hi-i-i--igh school is done
Somehow someway our two worlds will be one
In heaven forever and ever we will be
Oh please say youll stay
Oh sandy
(spoken)
Sandy my darling you hurt me real bad
You know its true
But baby you gotta believe when I say
Im helpless without you
Love has grown all alone
I sit and wonder why-y-y oh why you left me
Oh sandy
Sandy, sandy
Why oh sandy

Powerful Hurricane Sandy

Sandy gathered strength
from rivers and seas
flooding homes, fields,
markets and subways.

Sandy made a pact
with the strongest winds
knocking down trees,
buildings and other
man-made creations.

Sandy declared her power
over technological inventions
sending houses and streets
into days and nights
of darkness and cold.

Powerful Sandy
has just declared
her invincible power
over powerful humans!

Just A Dream-II

While you sleep like an angel
Under a silent and starry night.
I want to penetrate
Deeply in your dream
And become like a spy!
I want to find you in a sunny day
When the flowers are happy smiling
Watching the colorful butterflies play
While bewitched by its scent…

I want to climb the highest mountain,
Hoping to find you on the very top
Patiently waiting for me
And expecting to get
Drowned in my ardent lips…
I want to travel through
The Seven Seas
And feel the soothing breeze
Gently caressing my body
While I think of you!
Yes, indeed!

At the beach, on a sandy bed,
I want to quietly fall asleep
And start dreaming about you
And then, by surprise,
I feel the warmness of your body
Softly caressing mine
But when I suddenly wake up
And wide-open my lazy eyes,
I find a mermaid
Resting on my chest!
It wasn't you there
But the mermaid
For you were only
On my dream, instead!

A beautiful widow's upstage

When the juggler smiled,
Her tear dropp not responded and kept quiet.
He was angry and scolded;
'Don't you know how to smile really? '
Then the tear dropp replied;
'After he left the premises
I have never seen such an innocent smile again.'

4th Of July, Asbury Park

Sandy the fireworks are hailin' over little eden tonight
Forcin' a light into all those stoned-out faces left stranded
On this fourth of july
Down in town the circuit's full with switchblade lovers so fast
So shiny so sharp
And the wizards play down on pinball way on the boardwalk way past dark
And the boys from the casino dance with their shirts open like latin
Lovers along the shore
Chasin' all them silly new york girls
Sandy the aurora is risin' behind us, the pier lights our carnival
Life forever
Love me tonight for i may never see you again, hey sandy girl
Now the greasers they tramp the streets or get busted for trying to
Sleep on the beach all night
Them boys in their spiked high heels ah sandy their skins are so white
And me i just got tired of hangin' in them dusty arcades bangin' them
Pleasure machines
Chasin' the factory girls underneath the boardwalk where they promise
To unsnap their jeans
And you know that tilt-a-whirl down on the south beach drag
I got on it last night and my shirt got caught
And that joey kept me spinnin' i didn't think i'd ever get off
Oh sandy the aurora is risin' behind us
The pier lights our carnival life on the water
Runnin' down the beach at night with my boss's daughter
Well he ain't my boss no more sandy
Sandy the angels have lost their desire for us
I spoke to 'em just last night and they said they won't set
Themselves on fire for us anymore
Every summer when the weather gets hot they ride that road down from
Heaven on their harleys they come and they go
And you can see 'em dressed like stars in all the cheap little seashore
Bars parked making love with their babies out on the kokomo
Well the cops finally busted madame marie for tellin' fortunes better
Than they do
This boardwalk life for me is through
You know you ought to quit this scene too
Sandy the aurora's rising behind us, the pier lights our
Carnival life forever
Oh love me tonight and i promise i'll love you forever

When God And I Sang Love Songs

In the beginning was the word and the word wanted me
words many words haunted my days haunted my nights
sleepless nights so tired so tired yet the word wanted me

wanting needing to sleep yet words drove me would not let me be
words lines of verse filling filling my mind time after absorbent time
poems born in the night night visions night words wanting born life

no choice no choice the word commands commanded servant soul writes
hot summer nights sped youth hair dusty blond skin beach burnt brown
wind kissed bronze naked skin sea carried surging soul safe in wave water

salt spray wave spray sea foam wave burst white foam birth born surging
sea surge ocean surge wind wide sea beach breaking over wild soul free
swimming beach sand river tides water pulse washing over through soul

riding out hard fast with death wave laughing life rhythms tide fast run
words nights of words stone dropping given in love to God life codes
biorhythms still life lost thirty minutes hours blink in deep meditations

diving into quest states mind soaring soaring
through vast layered sea deep meaning
poems freeborn so many poems written intermixing
together rhythm worship never ending
poems life love wave vibrant harmonic ad hoc fusing
soul carried I sang our life songs of life

A Nude Story

the light blue sea marks a boundary with a mild wave and foam
along the sands of the shore two white empty benches hold a pink bikini and a white swimming trunk
at the other side of another empty beach chair,
is the bra
the calm sea erases the footsteps towards it

Nude Beach Ahead

Whirlwind lifting shapeless seas
Frosted
Crashing
In hot breeze
Search about
A sight be found
Bare, raw flesh
Nudity

Sandpiper shifting shells for food
Millions
Billions
On top it stood
Search about
A bug be found
Bare, bug flesh
And good

Nude, beach combing, swinging free
Jesus
Please
I looked back to see
Search about
Virgin eyes look down
Bare, raw flesh
Nudity

Escape behind eyelids blushing red
Seconds
Minutes
Hurry by all these
Search about
Can isolation be found
No, just a sigh
Nude Beach Ahead!

Memories Of The Beach

We went to the beach to get wind in our hair
to stand on the sand and simply to stare.
To let the surf tickle toes and dampen our clothes
as we played 'run away'
from the wavelets at play.

We went to the beach to climb on the rocks
find cool shallow pools where we'd take of our socks,
and peer in the waters to see what we might find
that the waves of the sea,
had last left behind.

We went to the beach to find coloured shells
the kind that when placed to our ears
make the sound of the ocean appear,
and gathered rocks that we never would find
in the places we walked,
for most of the time.

We went to the beach and all that, we did find
and the smell of the salt refreshed our tired minds.
I'll never forget the laughter and sounds
and the freedom to run,
on that wet sandy ground.

We went to the beach my family and I
and there we were one,
with the ocean, the beach, and the sky.
