Ode To The Voices in the Wind
Voices in the wind so silent
But thou art so triumphant
With a divine hand you create sunlight
By the way you walk in the twilight
Darkness falls in a waterfall of sound
But in truth you never drowned
Hark the voice in the scarce crowd
Whom the voice is proud
Of the luck that commands your strife
Your treasures include a knife
You’re the shinning star of beauty
Others shone mutely
You seek a quiet room where life can roam
In a dress of pale silk you return home
Power, Providence and Prejudice you destroy all
Your strides bring Peace, Pleasure and Pride for those you call
Your home is a quiet place, a cottage on a riverbank
But then you’re a Goddess with no need for rank
You ride an ocean of clarity and beauty which is you
Like a queen you command a battalion, which is true
Thou art but a child, but your love diminishes war
A child and Goddess as one you will soar
I was told all this by one person more
A voice in a wind was all I saw.
There are voices in the wind said the God
But to your face all I could do was nod

Wind Child
The Wind has a voice,
A sad, sweet voice
I've heard it sing
Long and beautiful
Like Wind should be,
Carrying forever
The singing Wind is rarely heard
It's quiet and soft and
Unnoticeable
I am a Wind Child
I hear the Wind as
She sings her sad, sweet song
I am a Wind Child
And I sing with the Wind
Wind Children are rare as
True Hope
Special as Love
Wind Child
Is me

I Have A Voice Of My Own
I HAVE A VOICE OF MY OWN
I have a voice of my own
It is a small quiet voice
It does not know violent metaphor
And it cannot surprise very much
It is a small quiet voice
And a quite simple one
It loves to think it tells the truth of my soul
But no doubt it has its own forms of ironies and deceptions-
There are other voices much greater than it
Stronger voices and more poetic voices
And voices which rightfully more appeal to others
But my voice is my voice
And it is the one
I am trying to
speak to you with now.

Beyond The End
Beyond the end
By: jimmy buffett, marshall chapman, will jennings
1985
We are a long way from anything, I told him. up ahead turn left and
Were fifteen or twenty minutes from cancun. turn right and youve
Got a batch of sixty miles of nothing. so who are we seeing,
Where is he and how do we get in touch.
- travis mcgee from the lonely silver rain
Mayan moon was burnin
We saw visions
Of the past returnin
On the shore
The band was playin
We all heard
What the moon was sayin
The world keeps closin in
It has before
It will again
A voice beyond the wind
Says we must go
Beyond the end
So follow
Beyond the end
A sea of friends are singin
Vaya con dios [go with god]
Mis amigos [my friends]
We take their hopes and feelins
To some new world
Well be revealin
Old worlds keep closin in
They have before
They will again
Voices call
Beyond the wind
Say we must go
Beyond the end
And follow
Beyond the end
(guitar break)
Old worlds keep closin in
They have before
They will again

Goddess Revival
I wake up in the garden
A wind across my hair
The bloom of jasmine and the
Night sky satin
Softly she is there
The trail of light she leaves
Like sand in an hourglass
I listen to her voice at last
I am your past
Goddess revival
Ill be your path
One of her disciples
Please take my task
Goddess revival...
It was dark and so quiet
Venus led psyche to the rosey dawn
Shes only beginning to fight like shes winning
Through seasons, years, and eras, she carries on
I walk the way she walks
Leaving trails of golden light
I listen to her voice tonight
I am your past
Goddess revival
Ill be your friend
One of her disciples
Please take my hand
Godess revival...
Now I can see the light
Youve got to learn from me
Youve got a lot to learn
Goddess...
I am your past
Goddess revival
Ill be your friend
One of her disciples
Please take my hand
Goddess revival...
I am goddess revival
One of her disciples
Take me to the land
Ill show you what I am

Lovers Amidst The Star Fields
Has the forest and the wind spoke?
Have you heard the gleaning voice?
Pure with moons of Beethoven
Chopin wants to return home
Magnetic fields like monarch butterflies
Valleys where childhood smiles
Wordsworth knows the deep call
Quiet bucolic days that whisper innocents
Walks that graze the twilight
The sky anoints every true searcher
Will you walk the sea like a saint?
Will you feel the pure vision?
Passion needs grounding
Your intense kiss needs meadows
We are spiritual and nature surrounds
Stars will always preach mystery
Dawn belongs to the angels
Will your love have a narrow gate?
Beauty is a road for the quiet soul
Shall we hold hands as the moon rises?
Lovers amidst the star fields

Will Of The Wind
The voices in the wind,
Will take you home again,
The journey home has just begun by friend,
The magic in your eyes,
Was more than I surmised,
And I surrender time and time again,
To the will of the wind
The will of the wind, child
The wind in the wind chimes,
Takes you home again.
The will of the wind
The will of the wind, child
The wind in the wind chimes,
Takes you home again.
The will of the wind

Where Art Thou?
My love where art thou?
Buried in the heart of dead souls grave
In the burdened face, in the sagging brow
Burnt to ashes for evil to deprave—
My love where art thou?
Hidden beneath the voice of beauty
Dangling in the wind like chime
In the sonnets of one's love poetry
Surviving the cruelty of cruel time—
My Love where art thou?
Painted on Christ's prayer his somber plea
In the whine of a my sweet child
Shining bright on the fiery star of the sea
Nourishing the cubs in the earth's natural wild
My love where art thou?
Thou art certainly not in me
With me, my love thou wilt never be
Love everywhere in perfect harmony
Except me, with no love, my life's destiny….

The Autumn Wind
I.
HUSH, moaning autumn wind! be still, be still!
Thy grieving voice forbiddeth hearts to rest;
We hear thee sweeping down the lonely hill,
And mournful thoughts crowd o'er the human breast.
Why wilt thou haunt us, with thy voice unkind,
Sadd'ning the earth? Hush, moaning autumn wind!
II.
Toss not the branching trees so wildly high,
Filling the forest with thy dreary sound:
Without thy aid the hues of summer die,
And the sear leaves fall scatter'd to the ground.
Thou dost but hasten, needlessly unkind,
The winter's task, thou moaning autumn wind!
III.
Sweep not thro' Ocean's caves with hollow roar,
Driving our fair ships to some rock-bound strand!
While the vex'd sea foams wrathful to the shore,
The seaman's wife looks shuddering from the land,
And widow'd hearts for many a year shall find
Death in thy voice, thou moaning autumn wind!
IV.
Round our calm dwellings, when our hearths are gay,
Roam not, oh howling spirit of Despair!
As tho' thou wert a creature seeking prey,
And where the land look'd richest, found it there.
We have enough of memories unkind
Without thy voice, thou moaning autumn wind!
V.
Thee the sad mourner lists, and turns to weep,
In the blank silence of her lonely home;
The sick man hears, and starts from broken sleep,
And the night-wanderer sighs--compell'd to roam;
While the poor shiver, for their huts unkind
Bar thee not out, thou searching autumn wind!
VI.
Back to the barren hill and lonely glen!
Here let the wandering of thy echoes cease;
Sadly thou soundest to the hearts of men,--
Hush thy wild voice, and let the earth have peace;
Or, if no chain thy restless will can bind,
Sweep thro' the desert, moaning autumn wind!

No Other Voice
There is no other voice I miss as much
When I'm far from my home, your laughter, your touch
There's no music on earth I'd rather hear
No other voice but yours
Your birdsong in the morning
You're the wind in the trees
The lapping of night waves on tropical seas
You're the sound of my heart beat, my breathing, my life
The lullabye rocking our babies to sleep at night
And through the dead of the voices I scream in my head
There is only one voice that sings love songs instead
There is no other sound that speaks straight to my heart
There is no other voice
not even a choice
There is no other voice but yours

Home, Sweet Home
Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam,
Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home;
A charm from the sky seems to hallow us there,
Which, seek through the world, is ne'er met with elsewhere.
Home, home, sweet, sweet home!
There's no place like home, oh, there's no place like home!
An exile from home, splendor dazzles in vain;
Oh, give me my lowly thatched cottage again!
The birds singing gayly, that come at my call --
Give me them -- and the peace of mind, dearer than all!
Home, home, sweet, sweet home!
There's no place like home, oh, there's no place like home!
I gaze on the moon as I tread the drear wild,
And feel that my mother now thinks of her child,
As she looks on that moon from our own cottage door
Thro' the woodbine, whose fragrance shall cheer me no more.
Home, home, sweet, sweet home!
There's no place like home, oh, there's no place like home!
How sweet 'tis to sit 'neath a fond father's smile,
And the caress of a mother to soothe and beguile!
Let others delight mid new pleasures to roam,
But give me, oh, give me, the pleasures of home.
Home, home, sweet, sweet home!
There's no place like home, oh, there's no place like home!
To thee I'll return, overburdened with care;
The heart's dearest solace will smile on me there;
No more from that cottage again will I roam;
Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home.
Home, home, sweet, sweet, home!
There's no place like home, oh, there's no place like home!

Interstate
Bonus track only on lp (and b-side of a single)
Children are laughing in the sun
I count the voices one by one
But Im not there to share the fun
Im out on the interstate
I can hear a soft voice calling
Calling me to bring my guitar home.
Im happy singing in a crowd
The lights are bright, the musics loud
I like to look in every face
But out on the interstate
I can hear a soft voice calling
Calling me to bring my guitar home.
Out in the dusty desert wind
The fox goes looking for a friend
She sees a light around the bend
Im out on the interstate
I can hear a soft voice calling
Calling me to bring my guitar home.

Urania's Lover.
O poet, thou art called to tread her ways,
Hers, mistress of the soul, Urania fair.
(Ah God! how fair, how all adorable,
But those who have wooed her can tell!)
All of thy nights and days,
All of thy light and air,
Hers only, so thy soul shall haply win
Grace in those eyes
That goddess-wise
Smile in that heaven man's highest have enter'd in.
Thou'rt called to Love's high hest, soul-wooer thou
Of the divinest beauty man may know —
Soul-wooer and soul-winner, so thy feet
Fail not nor falter, so earth's cheat
Clip not thy burning brow
With its chill wreath, and so
Darken the heavenly light within the brain;
But let thy forehead be
Starred with pure poesy,
So thou to her high mystery attain.
Thy love a Goddess and her heaven thy home!
By the ethereal beauty in those eyes,
O poet! bless the loss of all things here
So but thy soul in that fine sphere,
Beloved of her, may roam
No more with wandering cries —
At last may bow before her face, and be,
Though woman-born, divine,
When all of hers is thine,
And thou a star of God's ascendency.
Ah! through that heaven shall not the wonder trail
Of thy first worship, like a comet's hair
Leagues on leagues floating from the flying star?
Shall not thy first faint steps afar
Move like a being pale
Amid the glory there
Up to the voiceless beauty of her brow,
As thou dost see, as 'twere,
Thy whole life with her there —
See from that height the depth where thou art now?

God of dignity
God of dignity
help me plot the path
in the darkness of life’s destiny
and let me forever be free
from all the things
that keeps me from Thee.
While the waters
gather around me ominously,
show me how to trust
and know that everything
obeys Thou commands
and even the waves,
wind and rain
of the storms that befall me,
falls silent at Thy voice.
God of dignity
help me trust in Thee
like a little child
without any doubt or disregard,
even when
deliverance looks unlikely.

Why This Poem Is Born
this is my only chance
to be alone and be myself
again in the middle of this
crowd, where all voices
speak, and no one is heard
this is the voice inside the
bottom of my heart
beneath the layers of my
thoughts
in the forest
there lies this niche
where i can be so
at home and so silent
this is the craving of
the restless soul trying
to find a place to be
in the peace and quiet
of its solitude

Wandering Singers
WHERE the voice of the wind calls our wandering feet,
Through echoing forest and echoing street,
With lutes in our hands ever-singing we roam,
All men are our kindred, the world is our home.
Our lays are of cities whose lustre is shed,
The laughter and beauty of women long dead;
The sword of old battles, the crown of old kings,
And happy and simple and sorrowful things.
What hope shall we gather, what dreams shall we sow?
Where the wind calls our wandering footsteps we go.
No love bids us tarry, no joy bids us wait:
The voice of the wind is the voice of our fate.

Be quiet Child! ! !
Be quiet child, be quiet I say
No one listens to you today
Your voice is unheared and
not of importance
Be quiet child I say
Let your Brother speak
Be quiet child
I can not hear his voice
I don't have time to listen to you
Be quiet child I say
My Brother speaks
The very words, I was about to say
But Mother she won't listen
Be quiet child she says
I have now grown with babes of my own
but Mother continues to say
Be quiet Lady Be quiet I say
Your voice is unheared and
not of importance
I will not listen to you today!

I Will Always Return
I hear the wind call your name
It calls me back home again
It sparks up the fire - a flame that still burns
Oh it's to you I'll always return
I still feel your breath on my skin
I hear your voice deep within
The sound of my lover - a feeling so strong
It's to you - I'll always belong
Now I know it's true
My every road leads to you
And in the hour of darkness darlin'
Your light gets me through
Wanna swim in your river - be warmed by your sun
Bathe in your waters - cos you are the one
I can't stand the distance - I can't dream alone
I can't wait to see you - Ya I'm on my way home
Oh I hear the wind call your name
The sound that leads me home again
It sparks up the fire - a flame that still burns
Oh, it's to you - I will always return

Let Us Now Make Love
1970. officially unreleased.
Please, I beg you hear this humble voice
Please, pale orchid flower, music of my soul
Alone, upon the windswept way
Descends the nightingale
She swoops to soothe my aching brow
Let us now make love
Please, I beg you hear this humble voice
Please, my emerald goddess, wash away the wounds
Alone, the pilgrim thirsts and falls
The queen runs to his call
She stoops to soothe his aching brow
Let us now make love
Make love, make love
Let us, let us, let us make love (love, love)
Love, sweet heavenly love (love, love)
I promise you life will be good (love, love)
If you just stand down and try (love, love)
To be one with, so feel pride
Let us make love till the end of time
Now and forever
Please, I beg you hear this humble voice
Please, dear oyster shell reveal your hidden pearl
Alone, the deaf, the sick, the blind
Turn grimly for the knife
The prophet stoops to soothe their brow
Let us now make love
Make love, make love
Let us, let us, let us make love (love, love)
Sweet heavenly love (love, love)
I promise you life will be good (love, love)
If you just stand down and try (love, love)
To be one with, so feel pride
Let us make love till the end of time
Now and forever
Please, I beg you hear this humble voice
Come, lets walk the windy roads to find the truth
Revealed, each part has now been played
Your beauty will not fade
So cling to me, fulfill your vow
Let us now make love
(love, love)
Sweet heavenly love (love, love)
I promise you life will be good (love, love)
If you just stand down and try (love, love)
To be one with, so feel pride
Let us make love till the end of time
Now and forever
Let us now make love
Till the end of time

Two Voices
Two voices I hear inside my head,
Both wanting their own way.
I must figure out, which voice must go,
And which I allow to stay.
One is the voice of my spirit,
The other of my mind.
One will move me farther ahead.
One will pull be further behind.
But I do not know, which voice is which,
And which voice has my best.
In order to know, which voice is true.
I put both voices to the test.
With one voice I know peace and love,
Are the rewards that I will find.
And the one that creates confusion and fear.
That is the voice inside my mind.

Storm-Music
O Music hast thou only heard
The laughing river, the singing bird,
The murmuring wind in the poplar-trees,--
Nothing but Nature's melodies?
Nay, thou hearest all her tones,
As a Queen must hear!
Sounds of wrath and fear,
Mutterings, shouts, and moans,
Madness, tumult, and despair,
All she has that shakes the air
With voices fierce and wild!
Thou art a Queen and not a dreaming child,--
Put on thy crown and let us hear thee reign
Triumphant in a world of storm and strain!
Echo the long-drawn sighs
Of the mounting wind in the pines;
And the sobs of the mounting waves that rise
In the dark of the troubled deep
To break on the beach in fiery lines.
Echo the far-off roll of thunder,
Rumbling loud
And ever louder, under
The blue-black curtain of cloud,
Where the lightning serpents gleam.
Echo the moaning
Of the forest in its sleep
Like a giant groaning
In the torment of a dream.
Now an interval of quiet
For a moment holds the air
In the breathless hush
Of a silent prayer.
Then the sudden rush
Of the rain, and the riot
Of the shrieking, tearing gale
Breaks loose in the night,
With a fusillade of hail!
Hear the forest fight,
With its tossing arms that crack and clash
In the thunder's cannonade,
While the lightning's forked flash
Brings the old hero-trees to the ground with a crash!
Hear the breakers' deepening roar,
Driven like a herd of cattle
In the wild stampede of battle,
Trampling, trampling, trampling, to overwhelm the shore!
Is it the end of all?
Will the land crumble and fall?
Nay, for a voice replies
Out of the hidden skies,
"Thus far, O sea, shalt thou go,
So long, O wind, shalt thou blow:
Return to your bounds and cease,
And let the earth have peace!"
O Music, lead the way--
The stormy night is past,
Lift up our hearts to greet the day,
And the joy of things that last.
The dissonance and pain
That mortals must endure,
Are changed in thine immortal strain
To something great and pure.
True love will conquer strife,
And strength from conflict flows,
For discord is the thorn of life
And harmony the rose.
