Me and My Pony

Me and my pony hooked up on the Chicago Eastside and went for a ride,
we grabbed a corndog in Springfield and pulled our way on to Route 66.
In Oklahoma we sat with an Indian chief, watching movies while lovers kissed,
and turned a collar to a Cadillac ranch in Amarillo, blue lips and fresh Texas snow.

No Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque passed in a desert Gallup through New Mexico,
how we grinned standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona, it was such a fine site to see.
A thousand stars shot ancient arrows, sleeping safe under the Joshua Tree,
a Sunset Motel, the story ends, me and my pony dream of doing it all again

Route 66

If you ever plan to motor west
Take my way that's the highway that's the best,
Get your kicks on route 66.
Well, it winds from chicago to l.a.
More than 2000 miles of motorway,
Get your kicks on route 66.
Well, it winds from st. louis down to missouri
Oklahoma city looks mighty pretty.
You'll see amarillo, gallup, new mexico,
Flagstaff arizona, don't forget pamona,
South park garden and san bernardino.
Would you get hip to this kinda tip
Baby take that california trip,
Get your kicks on route 66, oh!
Well, it winds from st. louis down to missouri
Oklahoma city looks mighty pretty.
You'll see amarillo and gallup new mexico,

One-Trick Pony

I am not a one-trick pony
I am not a one-trick pony
I really feel no one can own me
I really feel nothing can hold me
Nobody can control me
Nobody can conform me
Nobody can disown me
Nobody can ignore me
So slow down
One-trick pony
I am not a one-trick pony
I am not a one-trick pony
For you i will not dance
For you i will not prance
And where I was last
I'll never be at
And After that
I've already passed
So slow down
And hear this sound
One-trick pony
Yeah, you do it for a price
I can see it in your eyes
See that role was never mine
I don't want to stand in line
See how that one-trick story goes
If she weren't on time you'd never know
cause a one-trick pony steals the show
You're just a pony
So back down
To the ground
And chill out
Girl, you better shape up, girl, you better shape up
Yeah the ride is so, so, so, so, so fast
Yeah, you better shape up
Yeah, just keep your chin up
No half ass...no half ass
One-trick pony
Just ride ride ride
Just ride ride ride
Ride ride ride

Giddy-up giddy-up giddy-up whoo

Ride with me ride with me
Wont you take a ride with me
Underneath the starry sky
My pony boy
Oer the hills and through the trees
Well go ridin you and me
Giddy-up giddy-up giddy-away

neath the eaves we will sleep

Pony Ride

(diane berglund/jim phillips)
Youre going up and down, back and forth
Youre on a wild pony ride
Pony run, run out the door
A free spirit, you hear it
Even the sun wont bring you down
Pony run, run like before
Nights coming, keep running
When will those moonbeams slow you down
Turn you round, let you believe
Run, pony, run, can you fly
See the night sky turning blue

The Rhythm Ranch

Johnny colla/huey lewis
Cause and effect music/huey lewis music. all rights administered by hulex music, ascap
We know a place with a real big beat
A destination soul retreat
A musical cure for your day-to-day stress
Its a dream vacation way out west
Yeah, its a soulful scene if you know what I mean
Come on down, take a chance
Get you a room at the rhythm ranch
Ride your pony, lets dance
Uh-huh, baby, thats the rhythm ranch
They got killer music everywhere
To help you deal with the pain out there
I think youll see that its money well spent
More than a hundred grooves for rent
And they got all the blues and views you can use
Come on down, take a chance
Get you a room at the rhythm ranch
Ride your pony, lets dance
Uh-huh, baby, thats the rhythm ranch
Chicken dumplings and big bands
Tuning it up at the rhythm ranch
Saxophones and romance
Uh-huh, baby, thats the rhythm ranch
The funkiest place you have ever seen
And you wont find it in a magazine
They got four-star service in 4/4 time
And sweet soul music to ease your mind
Yeah, its a real good deal with tons of feel

Pony

Im just a bachelor,
Im lookin for a partner
Someone who knows how to ride without even fallin off
Gotta be compatible,
Takes me to my limits
Girl when I break you off,
I promise that you wont wanna get off
(chorus:)
If youre horny, lets do it
Ride it, my pony
My saddles waitin
Come and jump on it
If youre horny, lets do it
Ride it, my pony
My saddles waitin
Come and jump on it
Sittin here flossin, peepin your steelo
Just once if I have the chance, the things I would do to you
You and your body, every single portion
Send chills up and down your spine, juices flowin down your thigh
(chorus 2x)
If youre horny, lets do it
Ride it, my pony
My saddles waitin
Come and jump on it
If youre horny, lets do it
Ride it, my pony
My saddles waitin
Come and jump on it
If were gonna get nasty baby
First well show and tell
Till I reach your pony tail (oh)
Lurk all over and through you baby
Until we reach the stream
Youll be on my jockey team (ooh)
(chorus 2 1/2x)
If youre horny, lets do it
Ride it, my pony
My saddles waitin

Little Abigail and the Beautiful Pony

There was a girl named Abigail
Who was taking a drive
Through the country
With her parents
When she spied a beautiful sad-eyed
Grey and white pony.
And next to it was a sign
That said,
FOR SALE—CHEAP.
“Oh,” said Abigail,
“May I have that pony?
May I please?”
And her parents said,
“No you may not.”
And Abigail said,
“But I MUST have that pony.”
And her parents said,
“Well, you can have a nice butter pecan
Ice cream cone when we get home.”
And Abigail said,
“I don’t want a butter pecan
Ice cream cone,
I WANT THAT PONY—
I MUST HAVE THAT PONY.”
And her parents said,
“Be quiet and stop nagging—
You’re not getting that pony.”
And Abigail began to cry and said,
“If I don’t get that pony I’ll die.”
And her parents said, “You won’t die.
No child ever died yet from not getting a pony.”
And Abigail felt so bad
That when she got home she went to bed,
And she couldn’t eat,
And she couldn’t sleep,
And her heart was broken,
And she DID die—
All because of a pony
That her parents wouldn’t buy.

One-trick Pony

Hes a one trick pony
One trick is all that horse can do
He does one trick only
Its the principal source of his revenue
And when he steps into the spotlight
You can feel the heat of his heart
Come rising through
See how he dances
See how he loops from side to side
See how he prances
The way his hooves just seem to glide
Hes just a one trick pony (thats all he is)
But he turns that trick with pride
He makes it look so easy
He looks so clean
He moves like gods
Immaculate machine
He makes me think about
All of these extra movements I make
And all of this herky-jerky motion
And the bag of tricks it takes
To get me through my working day
One-trick pony
Hes a one trick pony
He either fails or he succeeds
He gives his testimony
Then he relaxes in the weeds
Hes got one trick to last a lifetime
But thats all a pony needs
(thats all he needs)
He looks so easy
He looks so clean
He moves like gods
Immaculate machine
He makes me think about
All of these extra movements I make
And all of this herky-jerky motion
And the bag of tricks it takes
To get me through my working day
One-trick pony, one trick pony
One-trick pony, one trick pony
One-trick pony (take me for a ride)
One trick pony

The Pony

the pony
is for little preza to play
the great ranch in her mind
the large patches of pastures
of her memories
the little white pony
with spots of brown
is for little preza
to hope for
something nice to erase
what sadness lies
on the surface
of the table without linen
on the plate
without food
on the floor without any
carpet
the little ponies of our minds
play for us
the game that are badly
needed
in these times
of utter adversities

come little preza
come
the grass is cool
the skies are blue
the ponies are
playful

ride on one of them
and be happy for once

Cadillac Ranch

Well there she sits buddy just a-gleaming in the sun
There to greet a working man when his day is done
Im gonna pack my pa and Im gonna pack my aunt
Im gonna take them down to the cadillac ranch
Eldorado fins, whitewalls and skirts
Rides just like a little bit of heaven here on earth
Well buddy when I die throw my body in the back
And drive me to the junkyard in my cadillac
Cadillac, cadillac
Long and dark shiny and black
Open up your engines let 'em roar
Tearing up the highway like a big old dinosaur
James dean in that mercury '49
Junior johnson runnin through the woods of caroline
Even burt reynolds in that black trans am
All gonna meet down at the cadillac ranch
Cadillac, cadillac...
Hey little girlie in the blue jeans so tight
Drivin alone through the wisconsin night
Youre my last love youre my last chance
Dont let 'em take me to the cadillac ranch
Cadillac, cadillac...

Shouldve Been A Cowboy

Ill bet youve never heard ole marshall dillon say
Miss kitty have you ever thought of running away
Settling down, would you marry me
If I asked you twice and begged you pretty please
Shed have said yes in a new york minute
They never tied the knot
His heart wasnt in it
He just stole a kiss as he rode away
He never hung his hat up at kittys place
I shouldve been a cowboy
I shouldve learned to rope and ride
Wearing my six-shooter, riding by pony on a cattle drive
Stealing a young girls heart
Just like gene and roy
Singing those campfire songs
Oh I shouldve been a cowboy
I might of had a side kick with a funny name
Running wild through the hills chasing jesse james
Ending up on the brink of danger
Riding shotgun for the texas rangers
Go west young man, havent you been told
Californias full of whisky, women and gold
Sleeping out all night beneath the desert stars
A dream in my eye and a prayer in my heart
I shouldve been a cowboy
I shouldve learned to rope and ride
Wearing my six-shooter riding by pony on a cattle drive
Stealing a young girls heart
Just like gene and roy
Singing those campfire songs
Oh I shouldve been a cowboy

Epic Joureny

Epic Journey

This story happened before the invention of snow-scooters,
a couple- the Østerjøen was frozen over- wanted to flee
the poverty of Suomi to the relative prosperous Svearike on
a sledge pulled by their pony. It was a long, cold treck, their
small horse got very tired and could not pull them anymore.
They needed the pony it could be used as carter of gods in
Stockholm. They made the tired animal lie down
on the sledge put a big blanket over it and continued their
journey. The winter night was very cold and they also got
too tired to pull the sledge. They lay down beside the horse
and slept snugly to a dazzling sunlight awoke them.
The pony rested was fed with the last sack of hay left and
harnessed. In good mood all three continued their heroic
crossing to Svearike and new future.

You and Me

It was always you and me
to the woods of Michigan
through the desert of New Mexico
under the neon lights of Arizona
down past Tennesee
to the ocean of Florida
there wasn't much we didn't see

Through the mountains of West Virginia
to the border of California
hot summer days in Kansas
never ending miles in Texas
we roamed these roads alway's free
it was alway's you and me

Riding along side wild horses
somewhere in Oklahoma
with wind blowing in our hair
dreams only you and me would share
living life the way we choose
there was never a care
we never had nothing to lose

Walking streets in Truth or Consequences
thinking it couldn't get any better than this
sipping on a cold Corona
under the desert sky
watching endless days pass us by
it was just you and me
how I would want to be there again

Amarillo

(emmylou harris/rodney crowell)
My baby never was the cheatin kind
But it wasnt cause the ladies didnt try
Now everywhere we go
Theyre walkin round him slow
Givin him a flutter and a sigh
Now I got him past that redhead in atlanta
Lord I walked all over that black-eyed cajun queen
But outside of amarillo, he found his thrill, Ill tell you
Oh, I lost him to a jukebox and a pinball machine
Oh amarillo whatd you want my baby for
Oh amarillo now he wont come home no more
You done played a trick on me
Hooked him in the first degree
While he put another quarter
Push dolly and then porter
While he racks up fifty thousand on the pinball machine
If we only hadnt stopped in there for coffee
If someone hadnt played the window up above
Hed still be mine today
But he heard those fiddles play
One look and then I knew this must be love
Oh that pinball machine was in the corner
Well he saw the lights and he had to hear em ring
And he never was the same after he won his first free game
Oh I lost him to a jukebox and a pinball machine
Oh amarillo whatd you want my baby for
Oh amarillo now he wont come home no more
You done played a trick on me
Hooked him in the first degree
While he put another quarter

Pony Street

She lives on pony street
And they should scatter flowers at her feet
But when they come calling I think its appalling
Theyre sober and theyre polite
Theyre deeply respectful when I would expect them
To keep her out all night
That little martinet
Will get her own way yet
If you need instruction in mindless destruction
Ill show you a thing or two
You used to adore me but now my life flashes before me
For you to view
Oh mother, oh mother, sometimes you are so mortifying
From the hole in your leopard skin tights I can tell youve been spying
But your generation confesses before it transgresses
Those super-8 movies of daddy in your disco dresses
If youre going out tonight
I wont wait up
Reading das kapital
Watching home shopping club
While youre flogging a dead horse
All the way down pony street
Where you live after a fashion
All the way down pony street
The life and the soul of every indiscretion
That lives on, that lives on, that lives on
Pony street
Daughter, oh daughter, you know I will love you forever
But spare me the white ankle socks with the lace and the leather
For you and your cartoon threat do no good to resist me
For I am the genuine thing but for you its just history
If youre going out tonight
How can you be sure
Where you lay your pretty head
Mother may have been before
So youre flogging a dead horse
All the way down pony street
Where you live after a fashion
All the way down pony street
The life and the soul of every indiscretion
That lives on [5x]
She lives on pony street [2x]
She lives on, she lives on [2x]
