Leporello's List
Far better fables anodyne
than stories that are scary,
Don Giovanni drinking wine
with no Commendatore,
la ci darem a charming chant,
Donn’ Anna never kissed,
the thoughts of Wittgenstein and Kant
on Leporello's list.
David Denby reconsiders Roberto Benigni's 'Life is Beautiful' in The New Yorker, March 15,1999 ('In the Eye of the Beholder: Another look at Roberto Benigni's Holocaust Fantasy') . Denby writes:
Comedy and art, Benigni wants us to believe, not only to keep the human spirit aloft but save lives. 'Life is Beautiful' is soothing and anodyne - a hopeful fable of redemption. It is also one of the most unconvincing and self-congratulatory movies ever made.

The first movie I saw - and I don't know if it influenced me - was Ben Hur. We watched it outside in a corn field, and it ran backwards, so the first movie I ever saw was Ben Hur backwards.

Those That Passed Away
Ricardo was the biggest guy in the class.
He was too tall for Grade Six.
Roberto was the smallest but too smart.
Ricardo, the silent guy
and Roberto the noisiest,
all of them the spices
of those years in elementary grade.
In an updat of people for the class reunion in 2010,
it is sad to know,
both of them passed away that too early
Ricardo had STD, Roberto had hepatitis.
One had too much sex, the other had too much drink.

You Made Me Feel So Beautiful
Your kiss, your embrace, the way you touched me
I still shiver with delight
You made me feel so beautiful
The way your eyes held me
A rare feeling, when reality was more beautiful than dreams
You made me feel so beautiful
Your soft caress
Like you're touching the wings of a butterfly
You made me feel so beautiful
You gave yourself to me
And ignited my fire
You made me feel so beautiful
We laughed and kissed, discovering we liked the same things
Its rare to find a kindred spirit, in life’s rushed living
You made me feel so beautiful
I wish we could just lock ourselves away
On a seashore, with no such thing as time
And explore the world between us
You made me feel so beautiful

Beautiful
I am beautiful
Not only because of the curve of my hips
Or the shape of my body
Not only because of the fullness of my lips
Or the curl of my eye lashes
I am beautiful because I want to be
I am beautiful because God made me that way
I am beautiful because in my eyes
There is no one more beautiful than me
I am beautiful because I have a heart
And that is a beautiful thing
I am beautiful because I have a brain
And that is a beautiful thing
I am beautiful because I give advice
And that is a beautiful thing
I am beautiful because I want to be
I am beautiful because God made me that way
I am beautiful because in my eyes
There is no one more beautiful than me
I am beautiful because I have confidence
I am beautiful because I have determination and wit
I am beautiful because I have goals and I plan to reach them
I am beautiful because I am always there to lend a helping hand
I am beautiful because I want to be
I am beautiful because God made me that way
I am beautiful because in my eyes
There is no one more beautiful than me

Ignorance Is Beautiful
She taught me two things,
‘Ignorance and Beautiful.'
One day, she told me,
'Let me tell you,
The meaning of Beautiful.
God is beautiful,
Nature is beautiful,
Life is beautiful,
Love is beautiful,
Care is beautiful,
Share is beautiful,
Understanding is beautiful,
Trust is beautiful,
Faith is beautiful,
Passion is beautiful,
Compassion is beautiful,
Air is beautiful,
Water is beautiful,
Earth is beautiful,
Fire is beautiful,
Energy is beautiful,
Here is beautiful,
There is beautiful,
Everywhere is beautiful,
Everyone is beautiful,
Everything is beautiful.'
I had to intervene,
'Looks the universe is beautiful,
But what is most beautiful? '
The reply comes full and straight,
'Ignorance is awesomely beautiful.'

Beautiful Boy
Close your eyes
Have no fear
The monster's gone
He's on the run and your daddy's here
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Before you go to sleep
Say a little prayer
Every day in every way
It's getting better and better
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Out on the ocean sailing away
I can hardly wait
To see you come of age
But i guess we'll both just have to be patient
'cause it's a long way to go
A hard row to hoe
Yes it's a long way to go
But in the meantime
Before you cross the street
Take my hand
Life is what happens to you
While you're busy making other plans
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Before you go to sleep
Say a little prayer
Every day in every way
It's getting better and better
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful
Beautiful boy
Darling, darling, darling
Darling sean
