Len Webster's 'Winter Sun

I dreamed of the snowmaiden,
white and soft,
of endless warmth

her face was veiled
her mind cleared
of prejudice and hate

worry became my boast,
that the love we shared
would fade like snow

the hot Indian sun
beat copper snakes
to hide in shades

and my inner fears
they melted,
as did i

Len Webster's 'The Editor

She pushes pen to paper nightly
says she loves to keep alive her diary
watches television and takes her drinks
with a Norman male

when day dawns in half-deserted streets
she rises tired and restless from her dreams
her mind turns toward the hours ahead
to subbing pages

she is the editor of the periodical
ORDER BY SUBSCRIPTION IT'S THE ONLY WAY
she lays out pages and acts as PRO
to visiting MPs

i know her still the same childlike eyes
which probed among my inmost thoughts
in an atmosphere of anticipation
many years ago

New Year Snow

THE white snow falls on hill and dale,
The snow falls white by square and street,
Falls on the town, a bridal veil,
And on the fields a winding-sheet.

A winding-sheet for last year's flowers,
For last year's love, and last year's tear,
A bridal veil for the New Hours,
For the New Love and the New Year.

Soft snow, spread out his winding-sheet!
Spin fine her veil, O bridal snow!
Cover the print of her dancing feet,
And the place where he lies low.

Pale white beauty

Soft as the moonlight, glinting
Through a veil of silken snow
Your pale white beauty, maudlin?
My hearts beat speaking in overflow…
You with your dark hair roving?
Oh ivory shouldered, queen
There where the barn owl, sleeping?
So quietly calm and serene
There where the raven is feeding?
His talons in the snow,
There with a heart still bleeding
I'll pray you love me so…

Cinderella Dream

The tears that remain
Fall down my face

That little girl I used to be
No longer has a childhood dream

She dreamed of a love everlasting
Like Cinderella in her castle

I was porcelain
But now I’m broken

Shattered into pieces
No longer a whole

This little girl sum of you used to know
No longer put on a show

To hide the fears she had
And the times when she missed her dad

She thought she was so strong but
then you came along and tore her down

She no longer has a smile upon her face
She sits in her room and all her memories fade

Flowerbed

Placed in the midst
Of a twilight zone
My vision went hazy,
My fancy disoriented,
And while my failed dreams
Were in desperation
I had a glimpse
At the loveliest of faces.
Under a white veil.

I stole a glance of the loveliness
Of the countenance benign,
While lamenting
Over the distorted reflections
On the fragmented glass remains
Of my dreams
Of phenomenal dimension,
Which I had fondled
And renewed over the years.

Through your white veil
I stole a glimpse
Of a fascinating amalgam
Of beauty and compassion,
A flowerbed
Of exclusive red roses
Of dewy-freshness
Clad by a thin pall
Of a late winter snow
Of Kashmir Valley.

Through your white veil
I had a glimpse
Of the last oasis
Of my life
In the midst of
A harsh and fiery desert.

Through that white veil
I rejoiced the sight
Of a gorgeous painting
Drawn by a ceremony
Of profound colours.

Under the white veil
I had again a glimpse
Of a fairy of Ajanta fresco
Full of exquisite tenderness
And love of beauty.
Yet, always with a suspicion
Of something deeper
And transcendental.

Beneath the white veil
That embellished your face
Like a patch of snow cladding
The upper reaches of your abode
I had a glimpse
Of your soil and scenery
Of reflection and reality
In full bloom.

Ode On Snow

Snowstorms!
Piles of snow!
Soft, crystalline white snowflakes!
Feathered rain!
Powder snow!
Falling snow!
Up to the kneecaps snow!
Snow stuck on sidewalks and streets!
Snowballs!
Snowmen!
Snowdrift!
Sledding on soft snow!
Crunching snow!
Snow cones!

Christina Georgina Rossetti

Beauty Is Vain

While roses are so red,
While lilies are so white,
Shall a woman exalt her face
Because it gives delight?
She's not so sweet as a rose,
A lily's straighter than she,
And if she were as red or white
She'd be but one of three.

Whether she flush in love's summer
Or in its winter grow pale,
Whether she flaunt her beauty
Or hide it away in a veil,
Be she red or white,
And stand she erect or bowed,
Time will win the race he runs with her
And hide her away in a shroud.

Rapine

She came from some still mossiness
Of quiet ways; and stood with modest hands;
A warmth of body in a shy distress;
A white shell on the sands.
A slender shell she seemed;
And he, the sea
That rose and gathered, beat and dreamed
And longed so restlessly.
She saw him not this imminent, nor moved
Nor spoke. The hot sea swept;
And smothering her fears
It loosed and loved
And left her as she wept,
Wet with his clasp, and wet with all her tears.

Watching Swans From Caversham Bridge

Thames! Beautiful Thames! !
Thames flows through London
Thames is tidal With a rise and fall
of 7 meters in London;

Thames flows through 'Reading'
And its banks are beautiful,
Pavement strolling stretch on either side
is beautiful;

Boats sailing in Thames
Young women who sail in the boats
White swan pairs' which swim in the river
are beautiful;

Watching from Caversham bridge,
somersaulting swans catching the fish
is still more exciting!
Thames! Beautiful Thames! !

Paint It

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore, I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
I see a line of cars and they are painted black
With flowers and my love both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a new born baby it just happens every day
I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door and its heading into black
Maybe then Ill fade away and not have to face the facts
Its not easy facing up when your whole world is black
I wanna see it painted painted, painted black, oh baby
I wanna see it painted painted, painted black, oh baby
No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the setting sun
My love will laugh with me before the morning comes
I wanna see it painted, painted black, oh
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun blotted from the sky
Painted, painted, painted black oh baby
Painted painted, painted black

Seven Days

She was so young and so afraid
Of a world she could not understand
For seven days I held her close
Like a child in the palm of my hand
There were
Seven tears
To wipe away
Seven fears
To keep at bay
Seven words
For me to say
In seven days
The strands of wisdom twist and curl
Soft flame in the warmth of my heart
Oh essential words that lightly fall
Like snow thru the mist of her thought
The gentle rain of innocence
That flows from her ebony eyes
Another secret moment shared
To be part of the rest of our lives
There were
Seven dreams
To live for real
Seven streams
Of hope revealed
Seven ways
Of love to feel
In seven days
We are the only ones who know
Her smile was poetry
Her soul she showed it to me
The dawning of the seventh day
Saw her shine like the radiant skies
I knew that she would leave me then
Bright hope in her ebony eyes
(and now) I watch her dance before the world
Soft flame in the movements she makes
And all those secret moments shared
Stay warm in my thoughts everyday
Remembering
Seven tears
Wiped away
Seven fears
Kept at bay
Seven words
You heard me say
Seven dreams
To live and play
Seven streams
Of hope revealed
Seven waves
Of love we feel
Seven days
Memory of seven days

Endless Love

(lionel richie)
My love
There's only you in my life
The only thing that's right
My first love
You're every breath that i take
You're every step i make
And i
I want to share
All my love with you
No one else will do
And your eyes
They tell me how much you care
Oh, yes you will always be
My endless love
Two hearts
Two hearts that beat as one
Our lives had just begun
Forever
I'll hold you close in my arms
I can't resist your charms
And love
I'll be a fool for you
I'm sure
You know i don't mind
You know i don't mind
'cause you
You mean the world to me
Oh, i know
I know i found in you
My endless love
Oh
And love
I'll be that fool for you
I'm sure
You know i don't mind
You know i don't mind
And yes
You'll be the only one
'cause no one can't deny
This love i have inside
And i'll give it all to you
My love
My endless love...

Meeting

Hidden by old age awhile
In masker's cloak and hood,
Each hating what the other loved,
Face to face we stood:
'That I have met with such,' said he,
'Bodes me little good.'

'Let others boast their fill,' said I,
'But never dare to boast
That such as I had such a man
For lover in the past;
Say that of living men I hate
Such a man the most.'

'A loony'd boast of such a love,'
He in his rage declared:
But such as he for such as me --
Could we both discard
This beggarly habiliment --
Had found a sweeter word.

Several Things I Hate About You

I hate when you call my name
I hate when you send me mail
I hate when you give me rings in the middle of the nights
I hate when you give me precious gifts
I hate when you gaze at me
I hate when you understand me
I hate when I'm in rough times, you support me
I hate when I'm weak, you give me strength
I hate when you tell me that you care about me
I hate when you stand by me
I hate when you hold me
I hate when you spoil me
I hate when you share everything with me
I hate when you draw a smile on my face
I hate when you dry my tears
I hate when you take away all my fears
I hate when I'm sad you make me glad
I hate how deeply I'm in love with you

Snow Fall in the Moonlight

Snow fall in the moonlight,
Like soft cotton falling from the sky,
Covering the ground and bushes in pure white,
Glowing beautifully in the night of December.

Snow fall in the moonlight,
Like a child I walked happily through the pure white snow,
Making soft crackling sound in the silent winter night,
When I reached the far end of the open field,
I turned to see the path I had taken,
A straight line through the pure white snow.

Snow fall in the moonlight,
Can there be a more beautiful sight than this?
As I look into the night sky,
And the soft snow flakes touches my face,
I breathe the fresh cold air of the winter night.
As I stood alone in silence, stillness in the air,
My feeling and longing comes to my lips,
And I thank Allah for this beautiful moment,
A chance to see snow fall in the moonlight!

Malevolent

Maybe I went too far this time I just go crazy when she says no
Angel turns away pulls her dress back down, slowly washes her face
Takes the bus to her job downtown
She said Im ok dont worry about me
Now she thinks for herself, hey what happened to me?
I told him that I thought it was over told him that I wanted to leave
He used to touch me so nice when we first met
I never dreamed he would hit me I never dreamed he would hold me down
She said, dont worry about me I wont worry about you
I dont want to be friends she said Im ok
Just leave me alone
She said dont worry about me I wont worry about you
She said Im ok dont worry about me
I dont want to be friends
Just leave me alone
Dont worry about me

Discrimination Here's You Come and Go

Discrimination’s like a snake
Its teeth in poisoned prejudice,
Causing ache

Discrimination abolished all warmth and spirit
And returned with a new hate
Relishing its pain brought
Never thought of halt

Hey
Discrimination’s the new law
Stony and steel and
Square without feelings
Like window frames
Of the Hall
In court

I wonder where the White’s Purity all gone.

Tears and Fears
Now the norm
In the name
Of discrimination

now
Gladly Discrimination has gone
Kicked out hard,
square and fair

Yet-
It left a hole
In everyone’s hearts.

The Kiss

The snow is white on wood and wold,
The wind is in the firs,
So dead my heart is with the cold,
No pulse within it stirs,
Even to see your face, my dear,
Your face that was my sun;
There is no spring this bitter year,
And summer's dreams are done.

The snakes that lie about my heart
Are in their wintry sleep;
Their fangs no more deal sting and smart,
No more they curl and creep.
Love with the summer ceased to be;
The frost is firm and fast.
God keep the summer far from me,
And let the snakes' sleep last!

Touch of your hand could not suffice
To waken them once more;
Nor could the sunshine of your eyes
A ruined spring restore.
But ah-your lips! You know the rest:
The snows are summer rain,
My eyes are wet, and in my breast
The snakes' fangs meet again.

__________a Dedication To You___________

__________A DEDICATION TO YOU___________

I wanna see your eyes roll through the back of your head,
I will never be fine until the day you are dead,
Your love is wilted and weathered,
Your death's my guilty pleasure,
Yet i can never pull the trigger...

I love your love, I hate your hate,
I see the tears pouring down your face,
I love your love, I hate your hate,
I wish to see the last look on your face...

I'll tie you to the bed and do with you as i please,
But everything i do is just a tease,
We will betray our demons,
And tonight i'll see your anguish...

I love your love, I hate your hate,
I see the tears pouring down your face,
I love your love, I hate your hate,
I wish to see the last look on your face...

Your eyes close to me,
Your face is red and bleeding,
Your smile is the most relieving,
Yet i can't stand to be near you...

I love your love, I hate your hate,
I see the tears pouring down your face,
I love your love, I hate your hate,
I wish to see the last look on your face...

The Cries of a child

When hearts are veiled
There is no way for peace
When hearts are veiled
There is no way for brotherhood
When brains are veiled with prejudice
There is no chance for tolerance
When bellies are heavy
There is no way to see the hungry
When pockets are plenty
There is no way to see poverty
When the ears are shut
There is no chance to hear
The cries of the empty mouths
When the doors are closed
There is no way for all the beautiful things
To come in
All will go beyond …..
Above the sun
They will hide any shining stars
They will break any hope for tomorrow
Then we'll live in two worlds
Your world and mine
For whom the sun will shine
I'll be sad you'll be happy
Give me a chance to survive
Give me a chance stay alive
