It Was His Call

It was his call

That hero who nearly risked it all.

His country called him

The day our freedom was tested.

It was his call

A hero to us all.

He knew the stories

So many did not come home

He knew the sacrifice

Could be of his life

But he thought of his Savior

And the foundation of this country

And he remembered

The sacrifices of all

The heroes who had

Fought the battle.

Hallmarks Of The Hero

From ancient times, each hero stood
Against each evil foe
And for the good did what he should,
Heroic deeds to show...
The humble hero knew his place,
To sacrifice his all,
Perhaps to save the human race
Or teach God's truth like Paul...

From time-to-time, their tales are told,
Like stories, nothing more,
Like parables, though good as gold,
We might choose to ignore...
We were not there, not witness to
Their strength and bravery,
Yet credit where credit is due,
Meant for posterity...

Initiative is borne of faith,
Directing every thought,
Is there someone I'm meant to save?
Some battle to be fought?
Is there a maiden in distress?
Some Princess I'm to love?
Some King that I must yet impress?
Or challenge rise above?

Perseverance has helped them, too,
How else could they endure?
To keep in mind that point of view
That helps them suffer more...
For sacrifice is everywhere,
As every parent learns...
But what are heroes without prayer,
If God above each spurns?

Thus heroes have a right to choose,
Freewill determines fate,
Another fight to win or lose,
The victor thought as great...
Consider every hero known
And all they sacrificed...
Of all of these, one stands alone...
Our Saviour, Jesus Christ...

Heroes
Being a hero means little to me,
For I have see men labeled as a coward die as a heroes
And men called heroes run like cowards.
A name means nothing when it is all outside
And being called a hero is only a name.
For I have seen countless men live and die,
As only a hero could.
And yet they received nothing more,
Than a little golden star.
Countless heroes have lived and died,
But only a few ever truly earned such a title.
A true hero never worries about titles,
They do what is needed no matter the price.
A true hero is willing to make,
That ultimate sacrifice.
They will lay down their lives,
For their brothers-in-arms,
And give what they can for all those they love.
That is why I willingly gave,
My right leg for the man standing beside me.
I gave what I could so that he would live,
Hoping that he would do the same for another.

That Most Humans Crave For Glory

That most humans crave for glory is surely not a lie
And though you well may love your Country for your Country why should you die
Since dead heroes like dead cowards cannot help their Country in any way
Whilst alive you can help your Country even though you look old and gray
The dead hero cannot hear the bugler when the last post it is played
Though some may say his ghost is present at every war parade
The deserter is dishonoured from the fight he ran away
But to his Country he's of some use he's alive and well today
The dead hero he is honoured though to him that of no use
For to justify their recent war the war leaders use the war dead as an excuse
For another bloody battle a war they themselves will not fight in
Though in every war that ever was humanity did not win
You cannot serve your Country by dying for it so live for as long as you can
And die hopefully a painless death as a very old man.

The 'Fallin Soldier' - My Hero

I don't know who you are, but I feel I must say
these words that have come to me 'today'

I want to say 'Thank-You' for all that you've done
As a soldier, and who 'YOU'VE' become!

'A Fallin Soldier' now, is your title you see!
But your families know you better than me.

I feel for them and what they lost
'A HERO'... at a priceless cost!

May time heal all their sorrow
Remember... there is always tomorrow!

My Prayers are with them, only time will tell!
To give them the strength and the good will.

'This Hero' - is how I vision 'YOU'
A Soldier who did what they had to do!

You will 'NEVER' be fogotten - this is so true!
'Someone' of courage, through and through!

What did it cost to take you away?
It cost your life - and I say THANKS everyday!

We can now tell, the stories so 'PROUDLY'
of 'OUR HERO'...'AND TELL THEM LOUDLY!

You fought for your country, 'YOU'VE WON' you see!
Because you left behind your special memory!

Your family will always remember you
in different ways that I do!

You will always be known as this 'Fallin Soldier' you see.
For this person who fought for my country and ME!

A Hero?

Her hero is pretty and thin
Her hero is a hero to many
A hero of fame and a hero of fortune
A role model, a hero of glamour
Her hero is a hero to many

His hero is fit and fast
His hero is a hero to many
A hero of sport, a hero of games
A role model, a hero of victory
His hero is a hero to many

Her hero is clever yet plane
Her hero is a hero to few
A hero of science, a hero of logic
A role model, a hero of knowledge
Her hero is a hero to few

His hero is a hero of art but he is poor
His hero is a hero to few
A hero of word a hero of writings
A role model, a hero of language
His hero is a hero to few

But that’s the thing with your heros....
Hero worship is only skin deep.

She Was My Hero

My Hero
I used to call her my hero.
now she is my zero.
she had big dreams then she
threw them away.
The one that could take a punch
from the one was supposed
to love us most. She was the one
that would fall and get
rite back up even if life was hell.
The one i used to call
My Hero was the one i looked up to
most in my life. She was there
when my dad left. When my mom relapsed
again. But the sad thing is was
she was'nt there when i needed her
most. I use to call her
My Hero. Now all she is to me is my ZERO.

A simple child of ignorance

Have I known war that dwell in the fields?
Have I known war with all it’s bloodshed?
Have I known war with the guns and cannons?
Have I known war of the Philippines?

Social Studies, what of your use?
Heroes dwell everywhere
Why praise a hero when we all are one
Why is their war different form mine?

Jose Rizal, our national hero
Wrote poems and stories that made us strong
Yet what war is yours different from mine,
When I write poems and stories just fine.

Apolinario Mabini boasts of war conquests in our land
The Katipunan, was he part of that?
They shed their bloods, but what makes them different?
For I too shed my blood in vain

I could accept Lapu-lapu in Mactan
At least he won his rebellion fine
Against the Spaniards, he drove them away
For five hundred years, so the book says

Why praise those heroes who never won
A fight in life where there was torn
Why praise those heroes who shed their blood
And yet held no glory in the mud?

I don’t know of the war in the fields
Never knew the war with those guns and things
Never knew of the blood you shed
The tears, the pain that you have bled

O heroes, forgive me for my ignorance
That I do not thank you for all you’ve done
With all the sacrifices for instance
That you have exchanged for fun

I don’t know of the life you dwell
I don’t know the food you sell
But I do know that I have my life to see
The fruit of your efforts, you’ve waited for eternity

Sometimes We Just Need to Let it Out

Talking to a friend with a form of Muscular Dystrophy today, shes been having a hard time of it so I told her I'd pray..

Sometimes all we need

Is a friend to talk to

A memory to share

It's important that

We have Someone who listens

Who understands

The friend that will

Listen without

Judgement

And without

Prejudice

Someone who will lift

A friend up in prayer

And reach out

When they are in pain.

Dedicated to my Brother, Cole

You gave your life to protect our Freedom...
You are my Hero...
You marched fearlessly into the gunfire...
You are my Hero...
You didnt run and hide or retreat...
You are my Hero...
You fought for what is right...
You are my Hero...
They always say that Heroes have to have taught you something...
You did...
You taught me to be brave...
To fight for what is right...
You taught me to be strong and to be strong for others...
You gave for life...
You marched fearlessly...
You didnt run or hide...
You fought...
You are my Hero.

Hero?

Hail great hero!
Hero brave!
We praise you hero!
I your slave
Now duly fall
On giving knee
In hero worship
Unto thee!

Now did you hero save our globe
When draped in classic hero’s robe?
And did it flow as reddened blood
As battles raged in fields of mud?

Oh hero tell me of your fame:
Were writhing serpents fair your game?
Did you pierce the dragon’s heart
Intrepid hero; play the part

When Tyrant slain in hero’s fight
On quaking ground thro’ battle’s might?
And did you hero conquer evil -
Waste the minions of the devil?

Oh valiant hero, does your armour
Gleam from ventures steeped in valour?
Your sword oh hero, sparks a glint
From charging steel to give the hint

Of what great chapters Hero's Tome
Might tell to us when heroes roam
Through lands of yore when goblins vile
Sought a chance to kill for bile.

Oh hail thy hero,
Hero tall!
Bless you hero,
As I fall
In blushing shame,
I speak to me…

This mirror aids to fantasise
That I be hero worldly wise,
But meek and mild is all I am:
Hero naught; unbridled scam.

A Philosophy of Heroism

heroes are not easy to come by
heroic acts are a different story.
heroism a flag bestowed unfurled
live in the annals of moral sacrifice.

spilled his guts saving lives of others
courage to suffer and still carry on,
most heroically did so in silence
oh hero hero who do not cry out

his or her deeds carried by waves,
of ethics moral and agreed upon,
live on by consensus annd canon
of each era, we salute you one and all

Oh dear me! is a Nazi soldier a hero
who gave his life for his comrades
of a diseased inhuman ideology
a hero too?

are not women who suffer daily
selflessly help their children grow up
not heroes of heroic heroism
suffer the yoke and burden of a warped society

are not the accidents of genetic mishaps heroes,
heroes of statistics and those of accidents,
and those of injustice heroes,
of paying the price of survival for other regarding

Oh my kind listeners come tell me one and all
is this philosophy not far fetched and lopsided
and there is no such concept called hero,
take your medals put them under your pillows

take the stories and legends, myths and magic
are the fancy of the narrator pleasant to listen
and muse of sacrifice and other regarding
acts so noble and fascinating of wonder and admire

still there are some that are more heroic if only by
comparison indelible in our memory for ages to come

I Don't Want To Be A Hero

I don't want to be a hero renowned for my bravery
All I want is heaps of money and of my worries I'd be free
To pay my bills I have to struggle I live close to poverty
I don't want to be a hero what use would that be to me? .

I don't want to die in battle and be honoured posthumously
And be seen as an example and left for posterity
And the crazy army general say there's none so brave as he
I don't want to die a hero what use would that be to me? .

I don't want to die a hero I don't yearn for such renown
But I would like to own a big house on the outskirts of the town
With a rolls royce in my car port and I sunning by the swimming pool
And a nice dip in the water just to keep the body cool.

You would like to die a hero fighting for your Country's pride
And a stone plaque to your memory and your fame known far and wide
Millions of brave men died in battles they like you believed the lie
That your name will live forever if for your Country you will die.

You would like to be remembered as one of the noble dead
But I don't want to die a hero bullet through my heart or head
I don't want no crazy general saying there's none so brave as he
All I need is heaps of money and of my worries I'd feel free.

Time For Heroes

We search for an answer,
And when it appears
We can challenge the world with our sweat and our tears.
Through winning and losing,
The brave never bend,
The hero keeps fighting, standing tall in the end.
Time can change anything...and mend any fall.
The moment of truth is facing us all,
It's time for the hero to stand tall.
It's a time for heroes,
Time to answer the call,
It's a time for the hero in us all.
We carry the flame
For all to see
The fire and the passion, of what we can be.
Sometimes we must fight,
But we never bend
The hero keeps fighting, standing tall in the end.
Love can change anything...it's inside of us all
To reach out a hand whenever we fall.
It's time for the hero to stand tall.
It's a time for heroes,
Time to answer the call,
It's a time for the hero to stand tall.
It's a time for heroes,
When our back's to the wall
It's a time for the hero...in us all

Hero Of The Heart

I am not a special man, nor am I not.
I do not live to love; I love so I may live.
Life is what it; it is what it is not.
So believe in what is not, and be ready to give.

I am brave to love, and I have courage of light,
I am a Hero of the heart.
I fight with all my strength and might,
So we will never be a part.

I have no special powers, my weapons are few,
My strength lies within my heart, and my feeling for you.
I struggle with all that’s wrong, and I turn it to the right
Using all my love for you, I can win the fight.

They call me the Hero, “The Hero of the heart”,
I call myself a foolish man, hit by cupids dart.
But be as it may, my love is will not stray
I will be your Hero always, home and away.

Where Is The Passion? Where Is The Fight?

Where is the passion?
Where is the fight?
You once had a fire that
burned bright through the night
It shone through the mud you wallowed in
It shone through grief you were swallowed in
It outshone Hell's flames that licked at your heels
It outshone the light Death's door to you revealed

Where is the passion?
Where is the fight?
You once had a spirit of
Incomparable might
It pushed you to excel and to overcome
It pushed you out from under Plight's thumb
It fought against those who said you never could
It fought harder still because you knew you would

Where is the passion?
Where is the fight?
You've been broken, you've swayed
So I'll lend my insight
A hero you remain to me and in the meantime
A hero I'll look after and care for as mine
All heroes must fall for we're imperfect men, but
All heroes will rise up to battle again

To be Hero

A hero is some one looked upto
Who others may love to be
A hero never loss hope
To be hero means to be courageous
And willing to put their life aside for another person
A hero is anybody or somebody that was loved
To be hero, must be successful
To be hero, may not be superhuman but must saved
If they say i'm to be hero

Hero

Collins demo version released as b-side of we wait and we wonder single,
1994)
Well it was one of those great stories
That you cant put down at night
The hero knew what he had to do
And he wasnt afraid to fight
The villain goes to jail, while the hero goes free
I wish it were that simple for me.
And the reason that she loved him
Was the reason I loved him too
And he never wondered what was right or wrong
He just knew - he just knew.
Shadows and shape mixed together at dawn
But by time you catch them simplicitys gone
And so we sort through the pieces
My friends and i
Searching through the darkness to find
The breaks in the sky.
And the reason that she loved him
Was the reason I loved him too
And he never wondered what was right or wrong
He just knew - he just knew.
And we wonder, yes we wonder
How do you make sense of this
When the hero kills the maiden
With his kiss - with his kiss.
Well it was one of those great stories
That you cant put down at night
The hero knew what he had to do
And he wasnt afraid to fight
The villain goes to jail, while the hero goes free
I wish it were that simple for me
- if it were that simple for me.

05 - A Hero

A hero thinks of others before they think of themselves
A hero will die to protect
A hero can be of any age, any colour
A hero can be man, woman or child
A hero is courageous, loving and brave
A hero will never complain
A hero can be made in one act of compassion
Or years of tender loving care
Some hero's are remembered, whilst many are left forgotten
Hero's are angels in disguise, saving precious innocent lives

You Like To Talk About War Heroes

You like to talk about war heroes I'll take you to meet one today
On warm days he sits on a park chair from here in distance a short walk away
In him you may feel disappointed he is frail and aged and gray
He has blocked out most of his war memories of war he has little to say.

He is not your idea of a hero but heroes they too do grow old
Just one more forgotten old warrior the years on him in wrinkles have told
He fought under the flag of his Nation in his Country he had great pride
A survivor of the war trenches where thousands of brave young men died.

He lives alone in a one bedroom apartment in a cold and drafty place to live in
Yet in his early twenties he was a decorated soldier and medals for his bravery he did win
For him it has all come to nothing and on the reaper's call he wait
On war memorial day he does not walk in the parade he feels no cause to celebrate.

You like to talk about war heroes you come for a short walk with me
And sitting on a park chair in the sunshine a war hero in the flesh you will see
Long before your father was born he fought in a war from here far away
He is the last of his battalion his war comrades amongst the dead lay

Rogue Male

I saw a man Saturday,
standing at a robot light
with a sign,
which stated that
as a handyman,
he could fix most things
and are willing to work
for food.

His eyes told their own story
and life tried to crucify him,
but nothing could
get him down

You might think
of him as just
another vagrant,
but in his eyes
there was something
deep and the expression
on his face
dug into my soul.

I thought that I knew him
from somewhere
and I learned
that as a engineer
he was stripped from work
by affirmative action
and not able to get a job
by the same racist law
and then remembered
him from the battle field,
where no enemy
could pin him down.

How sad a thing
to see a hero,
who’s country
made less than a zero;
in the name
of progress and prosperity.
