It's a Girls Night
Shoes thrown everywhere searching for their matching pair.
Lipsticks in all places looking for their fitting lid.
Dresses scattered on the bed hunting for their perfect hanger.
A typical girls night.

An Old Pair Of Shoes
Verse 1:
Ive walked a million miles across this floor
But I never have quite made it to the door
I never thought the time would come
Id ever see this day
When you could make me feel so thrown away
Chorus:
Im feeling like an old pair of shoes
All worn out from walking through these blues
Theres a hole in my soul
And Im really feeling used
Im just like an old pair of shoes
Verse 2:
Youve always been my one and only, love
It aint no easy thing to give you up
Looking back Im feeling like
Theres nothing left to lose
This time I may just walk out on you cause
Repeat chorus:
Tagg:
Theres a hole in my soul
And Im really feeling used
Im just like an old pair of shoes

Gravel in Our Eye
When we look not with our eyes
convince oneself of the impossible
typical gravel turns into motorways
without tyres we saw ourselves as cars
eyes glazed paved speed of reckoning
just as rubber tearing at bitumen
convinced we will get to there [that isn't here]
at trips end we find ourselves a typical mob
typical gravel looks like typical gravel
as we stoop out of the beat-up ute
our eye catches the side-mirror
stymied by our shoes that crunch
making familiar sounds on typical gravel

Loving like a Pair of Running Shoes
Being in love is like a pair of running shoes.
When they're new,
they win you over, your
excited to use
them an showem off
Two years go by
And it's time for a new
pair of running shoes.
You may or
May not
Get the same, pair
You pray of an upgrade
Being in love
is like a pair
of running shoes.

MAC gave me 55 lipsticks to test. These are the same lipsticks I got caught stealing by the police when I was 15. How ironic.

Band Concert
Band concert public square Nebraska city. Flowing and circling dresses, summer-white dresses. Faces, flesh tints flung like sprays of cherry blossoms. And gigglers, God knows, gigglers, rivaling the pony whinnies of the Livery Stable Blues.
Cowboy rags and nigger rags. And boys driving sorrel horses hurl a cornfield laughter at the girls in dresses, summer-white dresses. Amid the cornet staccato and the tuba oompa, gigglers, God knows, gigglers daffy with life’s razzle dazzle.
Slow good-night melodies and Home Sweet Home. And the snare drummer bookkeeper in a hardware store nods hello to the daughter of a railroad conductor—a giggler, God knows, a giggler—and the summer-white dresses filter fanwise out of the public square.
The crushed strawberries of ice cream soda places, the night wind in cottonwoods and willows, the lattice shadows of doorsteps and porches, these know more of the story.

Magic At My House
In the closet there is a pair of shoes
The stay in the box kind of shoes.
The gray leather open toed high heeled shoes.
The fancy night on the town shoes.
The make you taller shoes.
The makeup wearing time shoes.
The too big but a perfect fit shoes.
The magic make you grown up shoes.
In the jewelry box there is a necklace.
The aquamarine and pearl and gold necklace.
The this is older than you or I necklace.
The shiny rainbow making necklace.
The color and feel of the ocean necklace.
The mother’s mother necklace.
The too nice for any day necklace.
The magic make you an elegant lady necklace.
In the bathroom there is a bag.
The painting for ladies bag.
The filled with vials and potions bag.
The put your face on bag.
The make your lips redder bag.
The give you doe eyes bag.
The not in public until your 16 bag.
The magic make you look beautiful bag.
In the bed there is a woman.
The wears the magic shoes woman.
The keeps the magic necklace woman.
The use the magic bag woman.
The lets me put on the shoes woman.
The tells me the story of the necklace woman.
The wipes off the magic of the bag woman.
The magic I want to be just like her woman.

Shoes
when you're young
a pair of
female
high-heeled shoes
just sitting
alone
in the closet
can fire your
bones;
when you're old
it's just
a pair of shoes
without
anybody
in them
and
just as
well.

Broken Hearted
Pushed aside like some nasty vegetable at dinner
Thrown away like an old pair of shoes
Kicked around just like a soccer ball
Broken hearted like some ex girlfriend
Treated like a pair of dirty gym socks
The hurt you did we will never be the same
No more playing games
shopping sprees, great presents
or even just those nights to talk
You hurt me like we were never even friends
You hurt me and I do forgive you
But I will never forget
Matching Pair
Together they were quite a pair,
Devoted to a fault,
Forevermore each one to share,
Like pepper close to salt.
Like soulmates bonded tenderly,
United in one cause,
Obedient to what's meant to be
And serving Nature's Laws.
Such harmony for all to see,
No secret rendezvous,
No hidden truth or mystery,
No need to solve a clue,
Just awesome close-up gentleness,
Just strolling in the sun,
Just two hearts sharing happiness
Until the day is done...
This was their time and theirs alone,
The world just passed them by,
It couldn't share the joy they'd known
Or even ask them why,
But some of us have understood,
For us, no trace of doubt...
Each matching pair knows life is good!
That's what love's all about...
The poem is based on the magnificent painting of two giraffes
by Stephen Gayford called 'Matching Pair'.

Put Yourself In My Shoes
Your mind is made up you wont even try
You didnt even cry this time
You say that we could never see eye to eye
And one of us just must be blind
We have our differences
Were still the same
See what we want to see
But you take a second look
And maybe things wouldnt seem the same
If you could see what you mean to me
Put yourself in my shoes
Walk a mile for me
Ill put myself in your shoes
Maybe then wed see
That if you put yourself in my shoes
Youd have some sympathy
And if I could only put myself in your shoes
Id walk right back to me
Youre gonna keep walkin and youre gonna pass me by
You say you dont even care
But I could always recognize a real good-bye
And I know your hearts not there
Weve had our differences
Were still the same
Hear what we want to hear
Now Im head over heels in the lost and found
Its a cryin shame
I thought we made the perfect pair
Put yourself in my shoes
Walk a while walk that mile for me
Ill put myself in your shoes
Maybe then wed see
That if you put yourself in my shoes
Youd have some sympathy
And if I could only put myself in your shoes
Id walk right back to me
Id walk right back to me
Id walk right back to me

Girls! Girls! Girls!
(words & music by jerry leiber - mike stoller)
Girls, goin swimming,
Girl, in bikinis,
A walkin and wigglin by, yay, yay, yay
Girls, on the beaches,
Girls, oh, what a peaches,
So pretty, lord I could cry
Im just a red blooded boy
And I cant stop thinkin about
Girls, sailin sailboats,
Girls, water skiin,
Theyll drive me out of my mind, yay, yay, yay
Girls, big and brassy,
Girls, small and sassy,
Just give me one of each kind
Im just a red blooded boy
And I cant stop thinkin about
Girls! girls! girls! girls!
And when I pick up a sandwich too much
A crunchy crunchety
A crunchety crunch
I never ever get to finish my lunch
Because theres always bound to be a bunch of
Girls, in tight sweaters,
Girls, in short dresses,
A walkin and wigglin by, yay, yay, yay
Girls, out boatin
Girls, just a floatin
So pretty, lord I could cry.
Im just a red blooded boy
And I cant stop thinkin about
Girls! girls! girls! girls! girls! girls!

Three Of A Perfect Pair
She is susceptible
He is impossible
They have their cross to share
Three of a perfect pair...
He has his contradicting views
She has her cyclothymic moods
They make a study in despair
Three of a perfect pair...
One, one too many
Schizophrenic tendencies
Keeps it complicated
Keeps it agggravated
And full of this hopelessness
What a perfect mess...

I Started Something I Couldnt Finish
The lanes were silent
There was nothing, no one, nothing around for miles
I doused our friendly venture
With a hard-faced
Three-word gesture
I started something
I forced you to a zone
And you were clearly
Never meant to go
Hair brushed and parted
Typical me, typical me
Typical me
I started something
...and now Im not too sure
I grabbed you by the guilded beams
Uh, thats what tradition means
And I doused another venture
With a gesture
That was ... absolutely vile
I started something
I forced you to a zone
And you were clearly
Never meant to go
Hair brushed and parted
Typical me, typical me
Typical me
I started something
...and now Im not too sure
I grabbed you by the guilded beams
Uh, thats what tradition means
And now eighteen months hard labour
Seems ... fair enough
I started something
And I forced you to a zone
And you were clearly
Never meant to go
Hair brushed and parted
Typical me, typical me
Typical me
I started something
And now Im not too sure
I started something
I started something
Typical me, typical me
Typical me, typical me
Typical me, typical me
Typical me
I started something
And now Im not too sure
Ok stephen ? ...do that again ?

In Perfect Harmony
My right shoe is white
and my left shoe is black
but they walk together
in perfect harmony.
If only life could reflect
my pair of shoes,
what a better place
this would be
with all of us
moving together
in perfect harmony.

Looking For Trade Martin's Ferret
From Alaska to Zanzibar the poets are out
They’re searching and hunting and looking about
The hunt is on, the call is being shouted out loud
The poets well versed are searching all round
In cupboards and sheds and holes in the ground
They’ll keep searching until that ferret is found.
They scramble about like mouse hunting cats
Reciting some prose in case ferrets like that
They’ve heard many stories of ferrets abound
And even up legs of trousers are found
Those furry mammals with teeth oh so bright
That when they are bared they give quite a fright.
The poets are hunting high up and low down
And when they have found him they’ll call you around
And while they are waiting they’ll play for a while
With the ferret you’ve lost since the end of last year
And gave herald to a ferretless and lonely new dawn
Since the day TM celebrated that Christ was past born.

The Apparitions
BECAUSE there is safety in derision
I talked about an apparition,
I took no trouble to convince,
Or seem plausible to a man of sense.
Distrustful of thar popular eye
Whether it be bold or sly.
Fifteen apparitions have I seen;
The worst a coat upon a coat-hanger.
I have found nothing half so good
As my long-planned half solitude,
Where I can sit up half the night
With some friend that has the wit
Not to allow his looks to tell
When I am unintelligible.
Fifteen apparitions have I seen;
The worst a coat upon a coat-hanger.
When a man grows old his joy
Grows more deep day after day,
His empty heart is full at length,
But he has need of all that strength
Because of the increasing Night
That opens her mystery and fright.
Fifteen apparitions have I seen;
The worst a coat upon a coat-hanger.

Good Girls Go To Heaven
Some girls do some girls don't
Don't mean type don't mean smoke
Lay me down can't seem to sleep
My mind's been thinkin' real deep
(bridge 1)
All my thoughts are runnin wild out of control-outta my mind
(chorus)
'cause good girls go to heaven bad girls go everywhere
If i had my choice of women
I'd pick the ones that'd go anywhere
All good girls they go to heaven
All bad girls go everywhere they like
Late at night when she comes out
The lady moves prowls the town
A perfect match of looks and charm
Where she goes it's light and dark
She's so hot i burn my tongue when i kiss her lips she turns me on
Good girls go to heaven
Bad girls go everywhere
If i had my choice of women
I'd pick the ones that'd go anywhere
All good girls they go to heaven
All bad girls go everywhere they like
(solo)
Made my choice made it well had my pick of heaven or
Good girls go to heaven bad girls go everywhere
If i had my choice of women i'd pick the ones that'd go anywhere
All good girls they go to heaven all bad girls go everywhere they like
Good girls they've got manners bad girls got what matters
Good girls leave at home bad girls come with the singer
Good girls go to heaven bad girls go everywhere that they like

Eight ball the last if you triumphant be seven oceans - pummel
The shores of the sea
Its a typical situation in these typical times
Too many choices, hey yeah

Too many choices ell
Everybodys happy everybodys free
Keep the big door open, everyonell come around

If you dont get in line well lock you away
It all comes down to nothing
Six senses feeling five around a sense of self

Twos a perfect number
