I should have said sorry to Matthew

Instead I'm left to wonder why

That I did not make the most of my opportunities

Far too late now for ruing my lost prospects

I should have brought shares in that Company
Before they were snapped up by my mate
He now drives a brand new Mercedes
And for me it is sorry too late.

I should have professed my great love for Dympna
And plucked up enough of courage to ask her out on a date
But now she is happily married
Time for me of course did not wait.

I should have done things I did not do
But courage is not on my side
Perhaps shyness leads to my reluctance
And I worry for a loss of pride.

What I had to flaunt
Has come back to haunt
Like a restless wind
And the best of times
That were left behind
They come blowing in
No ones pushing me
Through that door
But it might as well be
A forty-four in the night

Motivational Cry Of Those Idealistic

Those procrastination days,
Many saved to use later...
Are out of date.
And time wasted will not be replaced.

The sitting on actions to do,
But left undone...
Should be discarded.
Opportunities for them will not come.

That 'It's-Never-Too-Late' myth once wished,
As the motivational cry of those idealistic...
Can with certainty be dismissed.
These days passing fast for many will be missed.

Anyone questioning the revamping of their existence,
Send them to the Lost and...
Well,

I looked for you
but you were late.
You know my impatience.
I hate to wait.
I started to think

Without fear there cannot be courage

Coffee Courage

The bitter coffee kicked;
I shook and then I licked
My lips and gave a sigh.

Shattered eyes encouraged,
I nearly had envisaged
Waking up an eye.

Another sip; a jolt –
Not unlike a bolt
Of wattage from the mains.

My sockets under strain,
I tried it once again:
Aha! The light, the searing white –

Monthly Period

So many years but now she's gone.
Finally you can say goodbye.
That 28 day cycle is here no more.
You breathe relief but then sigh.
She made you think about new life
especially when she was late.
I could set my monthly calendar
but at times she made me wait.

She brought me pain and brought me joy
when she left me for a while.
And when she left my body swelled
and finally welcomed a child.
I wish I could say I miss her
just like a long lost friend.
They say good friends last forever
but this friendship I'm glad did end.

For A Friend

When I saw him last
He had that look in his eyes
I said, do you need to talk?
He said, no.
So I called him up, asked him again and I waited a while -
He began to speak, then he started to cry
You know some things are best left unspoken
And some things just never work out
And sometimes, seems you try and you try and whatever you do
Theres a fix that youre in, and you just cant get out
He said, i need your help, I need it now
Give me the strength to go on
Though I didnt know what
I knew that something was wrong
But he still had his pride
Hed tell me in time
Well this feeling inside
Kept eating at me
I was losing a friend, and I had to know why
When I heard the voice on the phone, I knew it was bad news
So I rushed to be by his side
And we said goodbye for the last time
I gently hugged him, and kissed him goodbye
He whispered, i need your help, I need it now
Give me the strength to go on.
We were always laughing
I just remember laughing, mama

And lost my chance to say it before you took her home

And I'm infuriated with myself, for not acing fast
And upset, because I never took that chance
So finally to the grave, I am able to say:

Joan and Romeo's Juliet

Once upon a time,
There was a Romeo and a Juliet
But Juliet was really Joan
who left Romeo to lead the captives to victory
Then captured and put on trial for heresy
After judgment was rendered, but before being burned at the stake,
a peasant girl loosened Joan's chains and won her heart
They Escaped to France to
live happily ever after in eachother's arms

Romeo got elected to congress
And as he rose in power,
He set out to win back Juliet
Only to find that his efforts were in vain
So on one very dark day,
He stole Juliet's lover away…

Joan offered ransom for her lover
Romeo gave a counter-offer
And in France at sunset
Romeo and Joan met
Over coffee
To negotiate the heart of Romeo's discontent
An offer to let Joan's lover go
In exchange for Joan to return as Juliet
And it was so
That her lover was let go...

But empty beds do lie a lover's soul
That cannot bear to take in the sunlight all alone
And so it was, that Joan's lover died of a broken heart
After coming home to find a note
'Had to return to Romeo. Love Joan xoxo'

Upon hearing her lover's fate
Joan, a version of her former Juliet self,
Took upon her lips a mix of poisons sure to set Joan free
From the Juliet of her Romeo
To live in heaven with her lover happily

Soon after, Romeo returned, anticipating a Juliet open and waiting
But saw instead that death had taken hold
Realizing too late - that Juliet was always Joan

And Romeo, who swore he would live with no other,
that he could never recover...indefinitely,
the very next day,
married his press secretary

The Flag of Courage

I am the flag of courage
so carry me with pride.
I shall make the final statement
to the moment when you tried.
There are many coloured ribbons
for the deeds that are done.
Many are the medals
for the battles that are won.
None greater than the flag of truth
that you are asked to bear.
May those who stand beside you
take pride in what they share.
Let faith and honour hold me

For love’s a gamble you must take.
