Homage to Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz-Sonnet 145
Sonnet 145
The thing of it is, you see
this brightly colored deceit
displaying all the many charms of art
a cunning deception of hints and hues
this mystery hidden in a riddle
disguised as an epigram which
sheer flattery duels attempting to evade
its stark horror and false syllogisms
each dawn vanquishing its vanities
triumphing over age and oblivion
with forgiveness and forgetfulness
The thing of it is, you see
Contrivance, vanity, artifice
delicate kisses stranded in the wind
failed joint defenses against our fate
a one way journey, a terrible mistake
a decrepit frenzy, more rightly viewed
as a corpse, some dust, a shadow
best perhaps as mere nothingness
The thing of it is, you see
We are all illegitimate
And have no standing
When it comes to this…

To Her Portrait
This that you see, the false presentment planned
With finest art and all the colored shows
And reasonings of shade, doth but disclose
The poor deceits by earthly senses fanned!
Here where in constant flattery expand
Excuses for the stains that old age knows,
Pretexts against the years' advancing snows,
The footprints of old seasons to withstand;
'Tis but vain artifice of scheming minds;
'Tis but a flower fading on the winds;
'Tis but a useless protest against Fate;
'Tis but stupidity without a thought,
A lifeless shadow, if we meditate;
'Tis death, tis dust, tis shadow, yea, 'tis nought.

Same Mistake Twice
Its one thing to make the
Same mistake twice
Another thing to make it
All of your life
Its one thing to make the
Same mistake twice
Another thing to make it
All of your life
The more you strengthen your denial
The more you turn to your desire
Na na na na
Appetite fight youll beat it yet
Na na na na
By hook or by crook on that I would bet
Just hang on in there
Its one thing to make the
Same mistake twice
Another thing to make it
All of your life
Lost in a barrel of wine and whining
Snared in a trap of your own designing
Dont be so sure
Nobody knows when it will end
Dont be so sure
Wouldnt I speak up if Im a true friend
Just hang on in there
Its one thing to make the
Same mistake twice
Another thing to make it
All of your
Life, your life
Another detail just goes by
Fallen into the abyss that has become your life
Its one thing to make the
Same mistake twice
Another thing to make it
All of your life
All of your life

Dying Inside
Terrible thing
It was a terrible thing to see you're dying
It was a terrible thing
It was a terrible thing to see you're dying inside
To see you're dying
Won't you come out
I'll play the game with day
Won't you speak out
I'll say the things you say
The lady loved her gold
The lady lost her soul
It was a terrible thing
It was a terrible thing to see you're dying
It was a terrible thing
It was a terrible thing to see you're dying inside
To see you're dying
Do you remember the things we used to do
Do you remember the way it was for you
The lady loved her gold
The lady lost her soul
It was a terrible thing
It was a terrible thing to see you're dying
It was a terrible thing
It was a terrible thing to see you're dying inside
To see you die

ELT
I, I should've been listening
To every word you said
Oh, what have I been missing
Wishing, wishing that you were dead
I didn't mean to be so disturbing
So far from home
Oh, what have I been learning
By being all alone
Every little thing
Every little thing
Every little thing
(Is gonna) Just tears you apart
Every little thing
Every little thing
Every little thing
(Is gonna) Just tears you apart
When, when we were younger
Sleep while I'm awake
I was trying to keep the door locked
I realize that's a mistake
Every little thing
Every little thing
Every little thing
Is gonna tear you apart
Every little thing
Every little thing
Every little thing
Is gonna tear you apart
Every little thing that you do
Seems so much better than I could do
Oh, I shouldve been listening
To every word you said
Every little thing
Every little thing
Every little thing
Is gonna tear you apart
Every little thing
Every little thing
Every little thing
Is gonna tear you apart (it's gonna)
Every little thing (it's gonna)
Every little thing (it's gonna)
Every little thing (it's gonna)
Is gonna tear you apart
Every little thing (it's gonna)
Every little thing (it's gonna)
Every little thing (it's gonna)
Is gonna tear you apart
It's gonna
It's gonna
It's gonna tear you apart
It's gonna
It's gonna
It's gonna tear you apart

Too Much Of A Good Thing
Smiles in the morning
As warm as sunshine
Kisses when I lay down at night
And 2 loving arms
To console me
I should be scared, it's so right
But, too much of a good thing
Is a good thing
Feelings like this can't be wrong
And, too much of a good thing
Is a good thing
And we've got a good thing going on
You look in my eyes
And see my thinkin'
I know when you're happy, when you're sad
Someone said
It's too perfect
But, I don't think what we have is so bad
Cause, too much of a good thing
Is a good thing
Feelings like this can't be wrong
And, too much of a good thing
Is a good thing
And we've got a good thing going on
And we've got a good thing going on

Such a Terrible Thing.
That would be such a terrible
Thing she said seeing morning
Come through the window like
Some peeping Tom if he was to
Write and say he didn’t want to
Meet and that he never loved
Me at all or indeed in the first
Place that it was all just pretence
And she waited each day for his
Letter to come saying precisely
That saying what she thought a
Terrible thing written in his neat
Hand with that hard pushed down
Period at the end of the last sentence
And with the absence of those crosses
Of kisses at the bottom of the page
And she lifted her head to the day
Coming through her window wondering
If the mailman would be late or if
Maybe he was on his way and maybe
He knew what the letter would say
And was on his way to deliver like some
Ancient messenger with news of some
Raging war or battle lost and it would
Be a terrible thing she thought if he did
Say those things if he did write them down
And she didn’t know how she would cope
If he did wasn’t sure if she could keep her
World intact wasn’t sure she could cling
On each morning as the sunlight seeped
Its way through to her room and touched
Her bed and skin and head maybe she
Thought he’ll say he loves me and write it
In his fine words and hand with those kisses
Like birds in flight at the bottom of the page
Otherwise she said it would be a terrible thing
For the traitorous two-faced mailman to bring.

The Real Thing
A mongoose can smile at a cobra
But that cobra will always be a snake
Diamante can shine like a diamond
But you know, like I know
That rock will be fake
Its the real thing
The real thing
Nothing but the real thing
Its real
You can xerox the mona lisa
Deadpan da vinci in every detail
Might beat customs on a home-made visa
But false papers
Only gets you in jail
Its the real thing
The real thing
Nothing but the real thing
Its real
Life wears a smile on its face
But it comes with a sting in its tail
Make believe fables have their place
But only a fool. only a fool
Believes fairy tales
I heard all the lies that they tell ya
phone me baby. the cheques in the mail
Well as fantasy. it may please ya
As the real thing
It does nothing but fail
Its the real thing
The real thing
Nothing but the real thing
Its real
Its the real thing
The real thing
Nothing but the real thing
Its real

Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You
I don't look good in no Armani Suits
No Gucci shoes - or designer boots
I've tried the latest lines from A to Z
But there's just one thing that looks good on me
The only thing I want
The only thing I need
The only thing I choose
The only thing that looks good on me...is you
I'm not satisfied with Versace style
Put those patent leather pants - in the circular file
Sometimes I think - I might be lookin' good
But there's only one thing that fits me like it should
The only thing I want
The only thing I need
The only thing I choose
The only thing that looks good on me...is you
Ya it's you - it could only be you
Nobody else will ever do
Ya baby it's you - that I stick to
Ya we stick like glue
The only thing I want
The only thing I need
The only thing I choose
The only thing that looks good on me...is you

Dont You Worry bout A Thing
Everybodys got a thing
But some dont know how to handle it
Always reachin out in vain
Accepting the things not worth having but
Dont you worry bout a thing
Dont you worry bout a thing, mama
Cause Ill be standing on the side
When you check it out
They say your style of lifes a drag
And that you must go other places
But just dont you feel too bad
When you get fooled by smiling faces but
Dont you worry bout a thing
Dont you worry bout a thing, mama
Cause Ill be standing on the side
When you check it out...
When you get off... your trip
Dont you worry bout a thing...
Dont you worry bout a thing...ooh
Dont you worry bout a thing
Dont you worry bout a thing, mama
Cause Ill be standing on the side
When you check it out...
When you get off... your trip
Everybody needs a change
A chance to check out the new
But youre the only one to see
The changes you take yourself through but
Dont you worry bout a thing
Dont you worry bout a thing, pretty mama
Cause Ill be standing in the wings
When you check it out
Dont you worry bout a thing
Repeat and fade

While Displaying An Impatience Shown
There is no such thing,
As someone misplacing to forget to use...
An obtained and claimed integrity.
Or a polishing up of a trust,
Allowed to dust, rust and go bellyup in bankruptcy.
To then seek a repeating of a forgiveness,
From one who has grown too numb to give it.
Knowing the act of it means nothing to another,
Awaiting to expect to hear it given, again!
While displaying an impatience shown.

Life Lesson
Listen to all
Listen to none
But remember this thing
You are the one who realize
Learn everything
Learn nothing
But remember this thing
You are the one who understand
Go everywhere
Go nowhere
But remember this thing
You are the one who search
Believe the hard one
Believe the easy one
But remember this thing
You are the one who follow
Think the worst
Think the finest
But remember this thing
You are the one who decide
Read what’s written
Read what’s hidden
But remember this thing
You are the one who feel
See the dark
See the light
But remember this thing
You are the one who watch
Dream the ordinary
Dream the impossible
But remember this thing
You are the one who hope
Try the best
Try the rest
But remember this thing
You are the one who fight
Say it straight
Say it carefully
But remember this thing
You are the one who mean it
Love you care
Love you don’t
But remember this thing
You are the one who give
Live the truth
Live the lie
But remember this thing
You are the one who grow
Do what you desire
Do what’s been ordered
But remember this thing
You are the one who responsible
Touch it rough
Touch it smooth
But remember this thing
You are the one who keep

It has, moreover, been proven that horror, nastiness, and the frightful are what give pleasure when one fornicates. Beauty is a simple thing ugliness is the exceptional thing. And fiery imaginations, no doubt, always prefer the extraordinary thing to the simple thing.

Same Thing Over
You say you're going to turn a leaf.
But it's the same thing over.
You say you're going to release your grief.
But it's the same thing over.
You say no more to jumping through hoops.
You say you're going to do what you choose.
You say you're going to be free and loose...
But it's the same thing over.
You say you're picking up more speed.
But it's the same thing.
You say new rhythms you now beat.
But it's the same thing.
You say more of life you will see...
But it's the same thing over.
You say more of life you will see.
But it's the same thing!
It's the same thing.
Same thing you will bring into your life,
Until it's over.

Hot Thing
Hot thing!
Hot thing, barely 21
Hot thing, looking 4 big fun
Hot thing, whats your fantasy?
Do u wanna play with me?
Hot thing, baby u dance so good
Hot thing, baby I knew u would
Hot thing, tell me what u see
Hot thing, when u smile, when u smile, when u smile
Are your smiles, are your smiles 4 me?
Hot thing, maybe u should give your folks a call
Hot thing, tell them youre going 2 the crystal ball
Hot thing, tell them youre coming home late,
If youre coming home at all
Hot thing, tell them u found a brand new baby doll
Hot thing, I cant wait 2 get u home
Hot thing, where we could be alone
Hot thing, I could read u poetry,
And then we could make a story of our own
Hot thing
Hot, hot, hot thing
Hot thing, hot thing
Hot thing, hot thing
Hot thing, barely 21
Hot thing, looking 4 big fun
Hot thing, whats your fantasy
Hot thing, dont u wanna play with me?
Hot thing, hot thing
Hot thing, I cant wait 2 get u home
Hot thing

Some Thing New
Everyday we are blessed to live,
There is...
Some 'thing' new.
Something we hadn't thought,
Would be interesting enough to do.
But if we,
Choose that some 'thing' viewed...
As a pick up to keep us lifted.
While pursuing that some 'thing' viewed,
Our minds will broaden to accept and receive.
Everyday,
There is...
Some thing new.
There is...
Something we hadn't thought,
But could find...
Interesting enough to do.
And if we thought about that yesterday,
When we refused...
The experience.
And dismissed it as a foolish event,
We might have discovered,
Just how much we grew.
Everyday we are blessed to live,
There is...
Some 'thing' new.
Something we hadn't thought,
Would be interesting enough to do.
But if we,
Choose that some 'thing' viewed...
As a pick up to keep us lifted.
While pursuing that some 'thing' viewed,
Our minds will broaden to accept and receive.
And if we thought about that yesterday,
When we refused...
The experience.
And dismissed it as a foolish event,
We might have discovered,
Just how much we grew.
But if we,
Choose that some 'thing' viewed...
As a pick up to keep us lifted.
And make that the rule that is meant...
Much joy will come to me and you.
And if we,
Choose that some thing viewed...
As a pick up to keep us lifted,
Much joy...
Will come to me and you.
Much joy...
Would be what it is we pursued.

Kohelet Again It Is Not Just The Vanity Of Vanities
It is not just the vanity of vanities
It is not just the truth of the contradictions
It is not just ‘a time for this and a time for that'
It is not just ‘Remember thy Creator in the days of thy youth before the evil days grow nigh'
It is not just ‘Better a living dog than a dead lion'
It is not just ‘Enjoy your days with the wife of your youth'
It is not just the eternal truths
And the poem of the long home-
And the turning again and again of the wind and the water
And the sun and the sound-
It is not just the sheer beauty of the thing and its words
Despite an occasional archaic ugliness
It is not just the truth that cannot be gone beyond
Because this is what life is and what the grave is and what we are
It is not just too ‘that the making of many books much less the making of many poems is a weariness of the flesh-
It is that after all the years I have arrived at the time
Where the golden bowl may be broken and the voice of the grinders made low
And man return to his eternal home-
As in youth I in old age read and reread the words of the Preacher
And know myself and all of us in them-
Oh the greatest Literature is here
And part of it I repeat in my fragmented self
While the long distance of life goes beyond
In words which will be heard for the first time -
For this too is not everything
And what we do not know yet
Kohelet too does not know-
And for all of us as God permits
Who knows what will come
After the Vanity-
If it is after all Vanity
And the end of it all?

I'm a thing
I’m a thing
A thing to do
A thing to make
A thing for you
To cast and remake
I’m a thing
For this world to sing
A thing to take
A thing to leave
A thing to break
A thing to grieve
I’m a thing
For this world to do
For this world to make
A thing for you
A thing of blue

Do The Right Thing
Once you told me you were gonna love me
That it was meant to be and theres no other way
Then came someone showed you more fun
Weve had a good run better think it over
Do the right thing baby do the right thing
Go with your heart and do the right thing
Hes got a good line, shows you a good time
Did he change your mind guess its your move
Ill lose my pride Id even step aside
Honey you really must decide whos best for you
Do the right thing baby do the right thing
Go with your heart and do the right thing
Do the right thing baby do the right thing
Go with your heart and do the right thing
You might chose me or chose to lose me
Someday youll see the good thing you had
Do the right thing baby do the right thing
Go with your heart and do the right thing
Do the right thing baby do the right thing
Go with your heart and do the right thing
Go with your heart and do the right thing
