Heart on a String

This morning, I chose life
Summer is gone
with her she has taken my seaside dreams
I stood too long at the shore
in the moonlight
I let the falling stars
find their way into my eyes
and the reflection there was blinding
All I could do was listen
...to the rolling surf as it covered me
...to the song an August breeze played in the highest branches
My heart a kite at the end of a weathered string
And when the string broke.....
All I heard was the laughter of the Gods

Flying High

My oh my!
What a gorgeous day to fly
Let's release that puffer kite
High in the crystal clear blue sky

We're running out of string
Send that kid on his bike
To the hobby shop to get more
What do you mean, what for?

Why, to fly that kite
Beyond the clouds, earth and universe
The wind is perfect today
We can do this beyond the moon and stars

oops! string broke over passing cars
Where is it now?
Where the past kite fliers now fly
My, oh my!
How high, this kite did, fly

A Stray Kitten

In the spring he toyed with her
her ball of string was long
she tossed it high and higher
gamboling along.

In summer they were lovers
passionate and hot,
her ball of string was short,
she'd found a lover's knot.

By Autumn love had cooled
she found she'd lost allure
The string she'd played with
frayed and tore away.

By winter she'd been ousted
she shivered in the snow.
Her ball of string was cut
and she, a little kitten, froze.

String-a-long

String-a-long, string-a-long, thats what I am
String-a-long, string-a-long, thats what I am
String-a-long - thats all I am is just your
String-a-long someone that you just seem to
Bring along, whenever you are all alone
And need some company you always turn to me
String-a-long - thats all I do is sort of
String-a-long you never seem to notice
Im along although I hope and pray that
You will need me someday
All I ever do - is tag along with you
No matter where you chance to roam
Im just satisfied - to be by your side
Here - there - near - far - I wanna be anywhere you are
Treat me wrong and maybe soon youll lose your
String-a-long, someone may come and bring a
Love thats strong and wanna string-a-long with me
Break:
All I ever do - is tag along with you
No matter where you chance to roam
Im just satisfied - to be by your side
Here - there - near - far - I wanna be anywhere you are
Treat me wrong - and maybe soon youll lose your
String-a-long someone may come and bring a
Love thats strong and wanna string-a-long with me
Ill find somebody new - wont treat me like you do
Ill find somebody new - wont treat me like you do
Ill find somebody new - wont treat me like you do

Six String Music

Six string music
By: jimmy buffett, g.e. smith
1994
Turn off the t.v.
Turn off the crap
Kick off your high heels
Climb up in my lap
Chorus:
And Ill play music
A song from me to you
Simple six string music
A ballad or the blues
No interruptions
>from the telephone
Dont need call waitin
Just you and me alone
Chorus:
And my six string music (six string music)
A song from me to you
Simple six string music (six string music)
A ballad or the blues
Oh I remember that night in africa
My daughter and my little guitar
Straddling the equator
The king of zanzibar
Those shy black hidden faces
They didnt know me from adams cat
But the words and the singin
And the people in a ring
And the whole night went like that
Now some folks like icing
Some folks like cake
Some swim in the ocean
Some paddle in a lake
Well you can get into beethoven
Or you can groove on jimmy reed
But keep it simple stupid
All we really need is
Chorus:
Six string music (six string music)
A song from me to you
Simple six string music (six string music)
A ballad or the blues
Six string music (six string music)
Aint no symphony
Its just six string music (six string music)
So elementary

I've Got The World On A String

I've got the world on a string
Sitting on a rainbow
Got the string around my finger
What a world, what a life - I'm in love
I've got a song that I sing
I can make the rain go
Any time I move my finger
Lucky me, can't you see - I'm in love
Life's is a beautiful thing
As long as I hold the string
I'd be a silly so-and-so
If I should ever let it go
I've got the world on a string
Sitting on a rainbow
Got the string around my finger
What a world, what a life - I'm in love
Life's is a beautiful thing
As long as I hold the string
I'd be a silly so-and-so
If I should ever let it go
I've got the world on a string
Sitting on a rainbow
Got the string around my finger
I'm walking around with my head in a clouds
And I'm feeling so good
I don't want to come down
And I'm shouting it out
I'm in love

The Kite The Wind Took As If A Poem

You bought the kit,
couldn’t wait for Mum to clear the table
to spread its bits and pieces out

didn’t your Dad help you? Yes, of course –
those were the good times..
‘your Dad’… do we ever really realise
they had a life of their own,
not merely extras in the drama
of your life?

the wooden struts cut to length,
the careful, don’t hurry Michael cotton wound
around the glue, and then more glue,
put the top back on again Michael
or you’ll be sorry when you come to use it again…
what’s again, in a boy’s life? …

that special waterproofed paper
finally in place; Mum’s hair-dryer
cautiously used to tauten
the bright kite’s sail
not too near Michael,
read the instructions…

it’s alive now, the kite,
the two of you waiting
to learn about wind, even
what you thought a mere light breeze…

what strength! on that first outing
on the beach or in the park;
the mere light breeze
which as your kite sailed up there in the sky,
dipping, soaring around the other kites
like a half learned, half graceful dance
which the wind wrote

but you did not listen fully to:
a sudden pull of wind, a parting
somewhere between string and kite…

no longer your kite; now
it’s the wind’s kite
sailing off into the blue
to meet the clouds perhaps

was it your Dad, after
he too had been silent-sad,
or was it Mum as she wiped your face who said

the wind, the sky, loved it too much
to give it back

and so with poems.
Throw away the box and stuff
but keep the glue, it may, like memory,
come in useful
next time

and so with poems.
The wind, the sky,
deserve them for their own;
they can go further, faster, they’re more strong
than you;

let go the string, now, as it falls to earth;
watch the bright kite
till it's out of sight;
was it ever yours?

Maiden Flight

The wind on top of the mountain
Is just right for flying my kite.
No, it’s not a store bought item
I made it from old newspapers,
Elmer’s glue and old balsa wood
Spine and spar sticks from last years kite.
Now here I am again ready
To launch it on its maiden flight.
I hope the tail isn’t too long;
The bridle string is sufficient.
Well, here goes! Come on baby fly!
That’s it! You want more string? Up! Up!
Easy does it! Straighten out babe!
That’s it! That’s it! You’re on your own.

All day long - Original by Rabindranath Tagore

All day long
I dance with the music of your song!

O my Ektara has only one string;
It can’t bear the pain of songs that you sing!

All along
I have lost in this game of your song!

This string is tuned to make sound of the near
But you are playing your flute from up there!

Can everyone join that shore of your song
By the music to impress everyone?

All along
I have lost in this game of your song!

I've Got The World On A String

I've got the world on a string, sittin' on a rainbow,
Got that string around my finger
What a world, what a life,
I'm in love
I've got a new song I sing, I can make the rain go,
Anytime I move my finger, lucky me, can't you see?
I'm in love
Life's a wonderful thing, long as I hold that string,
I'd be a silly so and so, if I should ever let you go
I've got the world on a string, sittin' on a rainbow,
Got that string around my finger, what a world, what a life,
I'm in love
Life's a crazy thing, long as I hold that string,
I'd be a silly so and so, if I should ever let you go
I've got the world on a string, sittin' on a rainbow,
Got that string around my finger, what a world,
man this is the life,
Hey now I'm in love

Kite Song

I flew a kite, I held on tight to its string.
Each time I go anywhere, I held on tight.
In the middle of the night I woke up in fright,
Thinking maybe in my dream I let go of my kite.
When I was in a restaurant, talking to my friends,
Watching their mouths move faster and faster.
I thought of the kite that was flying in the sky
And made sure that my hand was holding the string.
That was a long time ago,
Many skies went by since then.
Now my hands stopped holding anything
And Ive learnt to take a walk instead.
Then one day in the evening light,
I saw something strange shining bright.
The sky was dark, with swarms of larks,
And in the midst of it all, yes, it was my kite.
How did the kite get there, Ill never know,
Floating away among the clouds to where nobody knows.
I held my gun with both my hands,
Slowly aiming at the shining dot.
The shot went off, the dot blew off,
Since then Ive never seen the kite again.

String, Kite

i complete something today
dawn, there is dawn searching for
the door to morning
and it is closed

i look at an inspiration
it is not really good for me
but it completes me
this morning
the words that lay open and
never shut
to a conclusion
the one that makes me happier
to another day

there is something like a flesh
and it is pressed like a cloth between two iron sheets
there is heat
and it is not burned

there is a string in my hand
that holds a kite
i will cut it now and release
what all i had
to the air

it falls down
helpless to the ground
and no child ever
picks it up today

Monday, the second day of the year
the kite is free and it has no power to fly again in clear skies

separated from the string
nothing is noted to be significant
the way you see it

Moonlight Serenade

Stars are aglow and tonight how their light sets me dreaming,
My love, do you know that your eyes are like stars brightly beaming?
I bring you and sing you
A moonlight serenade.
Let us stray till break of day
In loves valley of dreams,
You and i, a summer sky,
A heavenly breeze kisses the trees.
So dont let me wait, come to me tenderly in the june light.
I stand at your gate and I sing you a song in the moonlight,
A love song, my darling,
A moonlight serenade.
We can stay till break of day
In loves valley of dreams,
You and i, a summer sky,
A heavenly breeze kisses the trees.
So dont let me wait, come to me tenderly in the june light.

On A Thin String

A tree with leaves helps all us breathe.
And they wont be obsolete,
In our lifetime.
Not in yours or mine.

But there are those who choose conflict,
To destroy what does exist.
In our lifetime.
Yours and mine.

Mighty is a kite that flies high in the sky.
On a thin string to delight imaginations...
And,
Some believe they have the right to turn off lights.
No matter where they are...
They think they made the Earth and stars.

A tree with leaves helps all us breathe.
And they wont be obsolete,
In our lifetime.
Not in yours or mine.

But there are those who choose conflict,
To destroy what does exist.
In our lifetime.
Yours and mine.

Mighty is a kite that flies high in the sky.
On a thin string to delight imaginations...
And,
Some believe they have the right to turn off lights.
No matter where they are...
They think they made the Earth and stars.

Oh and,
Mighty is a kite that flies high in the sky.
On a thin string to delight imaginations...
And,
Some believe they have the right to turn off lights.
No matter where they are...
They think they made the Earth and stars.

And on a thin string,
Imagine if all life broke apart!

Please Dont Drag That String Around

(words & music by blackwell - scott)
You like to keep me dangling on a string
cause you know without you my life dont mean a thing
So I beg you
Please dont drag that string around, oh no
Well, what if it should break
Oh, tell me, what would I do then
Keep that string up off the ground
Oh, yeah, remember my heart is tied to the other end
Yes, Im your puppet, my heart is in your hand
One twist of the wrist and I jump to your command
So I beg you
Please dont drag that string around, oh no
Well, what if it should break
What would I do then
Baby, keep that string up off the ground
Oh, yeah, remember my heart is tied to the other end
I feel inside me, as sure as anything
One day Ill mean more to you than a puppet on a string
So I beg you
Please dont drag that string around, oh no
Well, what if it should break
Oh, tell me, what would I do then
Keep that string up off the ground
Oh, yeah, remember my heart is tied to the other end

In The Moonlight

In The Moonlight

With fingers entangled in each other’s hand,
we walk together along the golden sand.
The rolling waves hiss a melody
that we can only hear
like our lover’s soft words
just whispering in our ear.
The moonlight dances across the waves
that roll endlessly to the shore.
We stop for a moment
to listen to our passion’s call.
Enveloping our arms around one another
in the stillness of the night.
Two lovers in the moonlight,
a forever memory to both
as they grow older and greyer.
Both will remember how
they stood on the moonlight shore
embraced within the passions
of two lovers in the moonlight.

After My Death

After my death mourn me this way:
'There was a man-and see: he is no more;
before his time this man died
and his life's song in mid-bar stopped;
and oh, it is sad! One more song he had
and now the song is gone for good,
gone for good!

And it is very sad!-a harp too he had
a living being and murmurous
and the poet in his words in it
all of his heart's secret revealed,
and all the strings his hand gave breath
but one secret his heart kept hid,
round and round his fingers played,
and one string stayed mute,
mute to this day!

And it is sad, very sad!
All of her days this string moved,
mute she moved, mute she shook,
for her song, her beloved redeemer
she yearned, thirsted, grieved and longed
as a heart pines for its intended:
and though he hesitated each day she waited
and in a secret moan begged for him to come,
and he hesitated and never came,
never came!

And great, great is the pain!
There was a man-and see: he is no more,
and his life's song in mid-bar stopped,
one more song he had to go,
and now the song is gone for good,
gone for good!

Moonlight Seranade

I stand at your gate
And the song that I sing is of moonlight
I stand and I wait
For the touch of your hand in the June light
The roses are side you
A moonlight serenade
The star's are a glow
And tonight how there light
Sets me dreaming
My love do you know
That your eyes, are like stars
Brightly beaming
I bring you, and sing you
A moonlight serenade
Let us stray, till break of day

Kissing the trees
So don't let me wait
Come to me tenderly in the June night
I stand at your gate
And I sing you a song in the moonlight
A love song, my darlin

Sunset By The Sea

I'm unable to visit a seaside town, and not see the mighty ocean;
I find myself being pulled there, with a sense of magnetic motion.
I sit surveying the sea, for a while, with a completely rested mind;
Moments like these, in everyday life, can be so very hard to find.

The lamps which line both sides of the long, wooden panelled pier,
Shine brightly, through the gathering gloom, bringing some cheer.
Despite the bitterly cold weather, and the now fast fading daylight,
Dozens of joggers disappear down the prom, running into the night.

Between the sea and sky, there is usually a distinct horizon to see,
But the sight which I see before my eyes, seems very strange to me:
The sea and sky seem to appear as one: both a shade of light grey;
To onlookers, only the foam crested waves, give the game away.

Waves rapidly rush towards the beach, and they furiously foam.
Along the water's edge, only the odd few stragglers still do roam.
On the shining, sodden sand, I see a young couple's reflection;
Looking relaxed, they stroll, hand in hand, in the sea's direction.

A couple rest on the railings, watching the roaring, rolling surf;
Nothing can measure what moments, like these, are really worth.
The pearly sky is streaked with shades of greys, blues, and pinks.
In the far distance, a string of white lights seems to urgently wink.

The light is fading, but, still, people are drawn towards the sea;
For some, it seems the only place where they really want to be.
The effect which water has on people, seems to be very calming;
Towns situated by the sea, are always considered very charming.

Once I'm stood before the ocean, I so desperately want to stay,
And I find it almost impossible to have to drag myself away.
But, in the end, I have to leave, as tonight I have a concert date;
It is the sole reason for my being here, so I really can't be late.

Siluna! Who sent me a drawing.
'Grandpa here's you! .'
A little house
By a Coconut tree
An old man with a beard
And he holds a string
A Red kite in the sky.
I replied him;
'Thank you very much for your lovely drawing my Sonny!
And I was searching in the pale sky
Your departed brother who left us
Without saying a Good bye!
And I added one more kite in Orange color
Flies in the mysterious sky without a string!
