Guarded Religion

five buddhists chanting mantras down the hall
a young black man in the door way
tension in the atmosphere
I long to understand
why with such fear,
the entrance is guarded
and why with great hope, I've been misled
I demand to enter
I spew anger
with relentless screaming
confusion streaming
impatiently I push my way through
only to find
on the other side
no chanting
no buddhist monks
only me in eternal darkness
disappointed, I leave
not a word to the door man
with deepest regrets
I look back
to see the chanting
and the monks
in total isolation
the stern man...looks past me

Imploring To Be Resigned At Death

Let me die and not tremble at death,
But smile at the close of my day,
And then, at the flight of my breath,
Like a bird of the morning in May,
Go chanting away.

Let me die without fear of the dead,
No horrors my soul shall dismay,
And with faith's pillow under my head,
With defiance to mortal decay,
Go chanting away.

Let me die like a son of the brave,
And martial distinction display,
Nor shrink from a thought of the grave,
No, but with a smile from the clay,
Go chanting away.

Let me die glad, regardless of pain,
No pang to this world to betray;
And the spirit cut loose from its chain,
So loath in the flesh to delay,
Go chanting away.

Let me die, and my worst foe forgive,
When death veils the last vital ray;
Since I have but a moment to live,
Let me, when the last debt I pay,
Go chanting away.

Here I am- full moon poem

You are your own light
You are your own sun
You are a fullmoon poem
You are fresh air
You are pure earth
Light water and sky
All chanting
Chanting and chanting
A new life singing

Here I am
Do not forget to see me.

Traping self in the net
Tamebird stop singing.

Murderess

She looked at me, murdered me, roared at me;
It was clear, but she was rather reluctant to repeat.
I was glad to see her after the night,
Her development gained after the dawn.
She was coming towards me as fast as a spirit,
Wailing and echoing, chanting a song of higher horror.
She was like a ghost to me, easier to see than an invisible being
Wailing and chanting with the whole place to ourselves.
I waited for her to leave and give back my life.

Awaiting On You All

You dont need no love in
You dont need no bed pan
You dont need a horoscope or a microscope
The see the mess that youre in
If you open up your heart
You will know what I mean
Weve been polluted so long
Now heres a way for you to get clean
By chanting the names of the lord and youll be free
The lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see
Chanting the names of the lord and youll be free
The lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see
You dont need no passport
And you dont need no visas
You dont need to designate or to emigrate
Before you can see jesus
If you open up your heart
Youll see hes right there
Always was and will be
Hell relieve you of your cares
By chanting the names of the lord and youll be free
The lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see
Chanting the names of the lord and youll be free
The lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see
You dont need no church house
And you dont need no temple
You dont need no rosary beads or them books to read
To see that you have fallen
If you open up your heart
You will know what I mean
Weve been kept down so long
Someones thinking that were all green
And while the pope owns 51% of general motors
And the stock exchange is the only thing hes qualified to quote us
The lord is awaiting on you all to awaken and see
By chanting the names of the lord and youll be free

A Way of Life

on a pilgrimage,
to pay homage,
devout come to take a dip
despite the chill
to wash off their sins...

at the bank of Ganges,
chanting mantras
recited by the sages...

looking solemn
and serene
unmindfully, going
back to the same
old routine...

Almighty

Chanting God’s hymns proceed on right path;
Being fearless, truthful, devout derive mirth.
God assassinates the monsters;
Contents devotees’ desire.

Help the poor, destitute day and night;
Deriving God’s bliss live with delight.
God helps the poors day and night;
He is omniscient, omnipotent Almighty.

O devotees, help the poor patient;
Chanting hymns live with merriment.

God bliss showers on the innocent devotees;
Chanting hymns women, men derive delight.
God attracts all devotees;
Is an Eternal Brook of Delight.

With his desire Earth is beautiful;
Singing devotional songs poets remain dutiful.

Recollections for friend T'J Becker

The butter lamps cast a soft glow.
As chanting monks in unison
their voices blending come and go
to raise their morning orison.
And thus begins another day
that’s filled with studying and prayer
As these devotees seek the way
The motive which has brought them there.
Although their faith I do not share.
I can share their serenity
Which permeates the very air.
A scene which still entrances me
I can recall it vividly
from memory so easily.

Ding-a-ling, Dingdong-bell, Singalong - Loner Is A Mourner!

All alone, aside, aground, bays an empty soul nameless,
Afloat, adrift, awash, says a goose egg shameless,
In thoughts - I'm lost, tattles an barren vessel aimless.
I'm with me yet alone - rattles a hollow skull rudderless!
Alone I cried again and again chanting a sullen rhyme -
Ding-a-ling, dingdong bell, singalong - loner is a mourner.

I talk and walk, lacking hope - lying in the corner;
Alone in woe - a clumsy, discombobulated flesh
Trying to fill a flimsy and distorted mesh. Yes I do
The donkeywork at a place, yet a sojourner, lo!
Alone I cried again and again chanting a sullen rhyme -
Ding-a-ling, dingdong bell, singalong - loner is a mourner.

Alone I flew in ruefulness, I - a Ruta graveolens!
I woke up to find my soul loitering in woods dense,
A glider without target yet a hogwash and trumpery.
I'm a writer with no imagination yet a gimcrackery,
Alone I cried again and again chanting a sullen rhyme -
Ding-a-ling, dingdong bell, singalong - loner is a mourner.

I'm an apple pale with no charm, landing alone,
I'm a sullen moon in a galaxy of stars, standing alone:
To pull iron curtain - waiting alone for crack of doom,
To seal my fate - sighting alone for the doomsday.
Alone I cried again and again chanting a sullen rhyme -
Ding-a-ling, dingdong bell, singalong, loner is a mourner.

Oh where is heavens door?

Where do we mortals find that narrow heavenly Door?
Through which millions of people have entered before?
It is found at the cross of Jesus The Crucified
where He paid for our sins and laid down His life and died.

With His arms outstretched so wide and saying, 'Come to me'
there we find forgiveness by His death at Calvary.
Then we see the Door before us swing open so wide
allowing us to pass through the veil to heavens side.

Calvary's cross is the Door through which we can go through.
There is no other entrance only this door will do.
For He is the Way by which we must enter heaven
It is at the cross we must come to be forgiven.

Then as we look behind us on the lintel we see
'Chosen before the foundation of the world in Me.'
Though millions have come yet there is still room for more
God by His Grace has allowed us to go through the Door.

So come to that Door for it is opened wide for you
and taste the glories of heaven as you enter through.
The cry goes out 'whosoever will may enter in'
it is at the Cross where your journey has to begin.

All who enter the door shall be safely kept inside
and there forever with the Lord Jesus they shall abide.
Each one was chosen by God before the world began
Included by His grace as part of salvations plan.

Giorno dei Morti

Along the avenue of cypresses,
All in their scarlet cloaks and surplices
Of linen, go the chanting choristers,
The priests in gold and black, the villagers. . .

And all along the path to the cemetery
The round dark heads of men crowd silently,
And black-scarved faces of womenfolk, wistfully
Watch at the banner of death, and the mystery.

And at the foot of a grave a father stands
With sunken head, and forgotten, folded hands;
And at the foot of a grave a mother kneels
With pale shut face, nor either hears nor feels

The coming of the chanting choristers
Between the avenue of cypresses,
The silence of the many villagers,
The candle-flames beside the surplices.

The Quest for Peace, Maa Vaishno Devi

Walking in to the unknown destination,
starving of peace & happiness years after years.
Achieved all in my life but lost my precious peace.
Love is missing due to me so is the peace of mind
now i am roaming vagabond in these mountains
in search of peace and a spiritual guru..
but nothing really attracts me.
I was so much into the materialistic life
that peace plays truant now.

These beauties around up on the hills
where it kisses the blue sky
that change its color with passage of time,
birds chirping and singing satirically,
i feel they tease me,
what did i achieve in this mortal life?
Where is the escape?

In this serenity picturesque valleys, farmlands,
mud roads and villages...
spiralling smoke oozing out from many huts
in this wee hours.
Cows & pets in their courtyards still await
for the full dawn.
I am walking up the mountain in search of peace.
I see monks walking along chanting mantras,
they don’t care my presence.
I am alone unlike others on the skirt of the earthen
non- existing roads,
thinking about peace & happiness in my life?
Where is the peace; in nature? or in demigods?
or peace resides deep within me in my heart?

I have reached inside the maa Vaishno Devi cave;
Momentarily i got everything on her darshan;
a great feeling of peace in my mind
and fell on her feet with more urge of peace.
I am sure she will understand my situation
and will bless me with endless peace, happiness
& eternal love, sure to be blessed by her.

My quest for peace ends here momentarily..
I walk back to the valley with a sense of achievement
Wishing my peace & happiness may last forever..
I pray not to come her darshan again
on my quest of peace;
My ordeal must stop now after this visit.
but still no escape! ! !
(this was my 3rd visit to this place)

Supreme Power

God Shiva is the Supreme power;
Is the father of all creatures.
Fulfils all our desires.
Is the creator, Operator and Destructor.

God shows the right path;
Is a nectarous of mirth.
Devotees surrender on his feet day and night;
He is an Ocean of Delight.

God makes our path cosy;
With blossoms and flowers the path is rosy.
Penetrates rays of inspiration.
Beauteous is his lovely creation.

Fragrance of God kisses with inspiration;
Devotees enjoy the beauty of creation.
Attracts devotees to his lap cordially;
Devotees derive Eternal peace delightfully.

O devotees! Sweet nectarous souls!
Chanting God’s name derive Eternal peace;
Chanting God’s name derive his bliss.
God hears the prayer everywhere;
Is the Generator, operator, Destructor.

Running For My Life

Running
Down the hall
The bell is ringing
I’m late for class
I’m late for life

Running
From this thing
This big, black, ugly
Swirling, shifting, changing thing
This thing that is everything
But is thin as air
Is really nothing at all

Running
From this thing
This thing I call “The Black”
That chases me
Seemingly
For all eternity

Running
From my past
Passing right by the present
Into my future
Into one of these doors
The doors that line the hall
The hall of life I’m running down
Running because I’m late
Running for my life

Running
Past these doors
One of them is the right door
The door through which I must go
Oh, how do I know
Which key on the jingling ring in my hand
Opens the door to my future?

The door to everything
I’ve ever wanted to do
Or be
The one door through which
That thing
The Black
Cannot follow me

Oh, look
Up ahead
That might be it
That door just screams my name
(But they won’t like that door –
It doesn’t fit their mold)

So what?
Who cares?
It’s my life
It’s my future
That door is me!
Now I’m
Searching
For the key.

The Curtain

As he saw his life run away from him
Thousands ran along
Chanting words from a song
Please me have no regrets
Please me have no regrets
Came from the babys mouth
We follow the lines going south
Please me have no regrets
Came from the,came from the,came from the... babys mouth!
We follow the line going south!

Back Door Man

Im every man here in disguise
Lie cheat and give you a spoonful of lies
Im a high toned mother with an axe to grind
Come a little closer honey, see what you find
Your worst nightmares all rolled in one
Ill find you sure as the rising sun
Dont make a noise its understood
cos this aint no story like red riding hood
Im your back door man, Im your back door man oh yeah
Im your back door man, come on babe, and Ill take you where I can
Systematically I choose at will
But with you theres an obscene thrill
Its funny now how you cant say no
Its the smell of fear that you love so
Im your back door man, Im your back door man, oh yeah,
Im your back door man baby, just take it where you can
This first kiss has a touch of ice
Now hows that feel, it aint so nice
Blackhearted mamma Ive something new
Oh lord look what Ive turned into

Im your back door man, Im your back door man
Im your back door man, Im your back door man

We Will Find a Way Out

We've been in this room eight days now.
The food supply is low.
And there is very little water.
Perhaps we should listen to that young kid.
He does have a flashlight.
The others have been studing that map...
Discussing whether the hinges on the door,
Swing in or out.
They have few matches left to strike.
We will be in total darkness soon.
That kid keeps saying there's a light switch...
And a door next to it that is unlocked!
Why don't they listen to him?

'First of all...
He is black!
Second,
He has no experience!
How do we know he can be trusted?
You just mind your business.
We will find a way out.'

Ballad of the Dead

Conscious is slowly fading
Darkness is full of loving
Light blinds me from this reality
Let me crawl back to the shadows of serenity

The dance of my fellow comrades
Who lack the respect of the fallen
Death is the lack of demand
Whose names has he written?

I slept within this cavern
I awaken to find nowhere
Who have awaken me from my slumber
The eerie conclusions led you to my chamber.

Skulls ramble on
Continued on with broken jaws
The dance of the no flesh
My sins the dead confess

Dance all around me
Cycle on and on in my head
Drew circles all around me
Chanting the song of the dead

'Arise, arise our fellow comrade'
'War consumed you with it's almighty jaws'
'Take out your anger, you have rose again'
'Breath lithium my friend, death is all you live for'
'Stuck in the lust of mankind'
'Death has now become our brother'
'I shall take back what was mine'
'Lives of the wicked shall we plunder'
'It's about time to die'

I was heavily breathing
I was horribly living
This haste approach to the fade to black
I was awaken to see the ballad of the dead
