Going By Car
I never travel without an exploration
But going by car
is to examine the fine landscape
only though gloves or spyglass
It is to be eager at the passages of a great book
whose leaves are barely glimpsed
before turned by a mechanical arm
I must fight the touring disease
that the next bend has more than this one
Hurtling does not cure hurrying
I slow or pull off and step out
like a fat man reaching for wildflowers
his rising belly reaches first
like on a desperate liberty
pierced by a mother’s shriek
The manly, strange, motionless, exhausting earth
whelming all sides
fades, smiles, recedes
It is a session of hours blurred in movement
strains the nether circulation
Present time punctuates
with spilled food and dread of collision
It is much if I watch the birth and death of evening
over the way ahead
much to translate the bright, glib artifice of maps
into smells and stars, a plowman’s wave
realize the immensities on one side
when the map has me at the whip-end of something
To travel by car
is to make an empty promise to return on foot

You Are Everywhere
How beautiful it is to trace your footprint,
to feel the strength with which you are getting away from the past
building the present.
Where can be no pain, anguish nor sorrow
there is no pain in your absence
one empty space swept away by a flow of stars
over passing us from a distant universe.
One past between the words
when I evoke your name
I've gone over once and one more time
through the labyrinth of your existence
and I've seen how you move away,
but always reaching me.
There is no pain in your absence
only a space swept away by the time.
We will build a flying carpet of celestial bodies
we'll put together the sun, the moon and the stars.
we will decorate its sides with comets
we'll travel over the black holes and its cracks
and we'll look for God through them.
Thinking about the creation of new universes,
we'll travel day and night always dreaming of
me giving you clusters of roses
and you loving me besides the stars.

My travels in the hell
It is hard and so teadius travel to me
though my travel is a nice car
The roads, I ve travelled seems as hell
Just a road with out green trees in the sides
Only wheeled animels flown here and there and
exhausting a large volume of black smoke
No flowers, and the musics of little sky singers
only the roarings of metallic wilds, I heard
One second, I stopped and
felt this travel as the travel in the hell

Fine
A lovers quarrel
Death by a shotgun barrel
With a cleaning solution the instruments are made sterile.
A hairy situation.
Like a plastic surgeon.
Rewriting the expression.
In both the date and time.
Now its fine
Now its fine.
Fine as fine can be.
I no longer need you and you no longer need me.
Can you hear the anger scream.
Reaching out for mercy in its desperate pleas.
Now its fine
Now its fine.
Fine as fine can be.
I no longer need you and you no longer need me.
Can you hear the anger scream.
Reaching out for mercy in its desperate pleas.
Changing my identity
Becoming that man I never use to be
With all niceties, and pleasantries wrapped in a little bow tie.
I don't even know how I survived.
Some thought I would have committed suicide.
But my drive just wouldn't let me.
Well, Now its fine
Now its fine.
Fine as fine can be.
I no longer need you and you no longer need me.
Can you hear the anger scream.
Reaching out for mercy in its desperate pleas.
Now its fine
Now its fine.
Fine as fine can be.
I no longer need you and you no longer need me.
Can you hear the anger scream.
Reaching out for mercy in its desperate pleas.
A murders escape.
A mind debates.
With shouts of hate.
How can you? Just how can you?
Emotional distress.
In all this I digest the worthiness
Worthless I've been called.
I can still hear you every night I dream.
No sound sleep, not for me.
The way you made it seem.
My fault, the living breathing scapegoat
Is it not real enough?
Well, Now its fine
Now its fine.
Fine as fine can be.
I no longer need you and you no longer need me.
Can you hear the anger scream.
Reaching out for mercy in its desperate pleas.
Now its fine
Now its fine.
Fine as fine can be.
I no longer need you and you no longer need me.
Can you hear the anger scream.
Reaching out for mercy in it desperate pleas.
Now I stand upon the darkness
Ready to leap in.
All for you my friend.
Even though my wounds have yet to mend.
It matters not in the end.
Now its fine
Now its fine.
Fine as fine can be.
I no longer need you and you no longer need me.
Can you hear the anger scream.
Reaching out for mercy in it desperate pleas.
Now its fine
Now its fine.
Fine as fine can be.
I no longer need you and you no longer need me.
Can you hear the anger scream.
Reaching out for mercy in it desperate pleas.

Promise
A change of mind has moved around
Takes me back to when we met
Forever moved a promise kept
This all implies I dont believe how this would be for
To be with you
Watching your eyes
I can see it in your eyes
Away go away
To be by your side
I travel all night
Away go away
Concept conceived to let me down
And when you leave I can never make my mind up
Were on the move removed too far
Your way of life
Its only me Im not deceived at all
To be with you
Watching your eyes
I can see it in your eyes
Away go away
To be by your side
I travel all night
Away go away
So far from me to be the same
Ill try again Im here alone
I shant forget I feel this way
And all the time you can dance until we meet again
To be with you
Watching your eyes
I can see it in your eyes
Away go away
To be by your side
I travel all night
Away go away
To be by your side
I travel all night
Away go away
To be by your side
I travel all night

The Road I Travel
The road I travel is windy and unsafe
Filled with road blocks and things to slow me down
Constantly seeing a stop sign
One day the signal will turn green and I will push my foot on the gas
For now my safest way to travel is on the highway
Very little stops
Only a straight path to keep going
There is room to be both slow and causious and fast and furious
Depending on the day and what obstacle I face will dictate my speed and my destiny
As I travel the highway I see nothing but black top
It is just me and nothing but road to travel
Needing to realize that there are so many paths to choose
I am my own destination
But for now the road I travel on is windy and unsafe and filled with road blocks

Took To Long
Took too long to analyze
Just what I was feeling deep inside
The gentle movement of your voice
Opened my mind gave me a choice
Warm me up to cool down real slow
Hold forever promise you wont let go
Chase the twilight of the summers bend
Travel this road of hope that never ends
The journey long, grip to my heart
And remember the words from the start
'Watch your back and never be too kind
For what you lack your love will find'
Just two kids victim of the heat
Now autumn upon us we choose to defeat
The stigma and the old clichés
Figure out a place for us to run away
Warm me up to cool down real slow
Hold forever promise you wont let go
Chase the twilight of the summers bend
Travel this road of hope that never ends
I'll clench you here in my arms so dear
Watch the next passing year
As I wipe away all your tears
And always well conquer all our fears
Took too long to analyze
Just what I was feeling deep inside

Points of contact
We travel and keep moving
Each time you move ahead
You should have stepped at a point
Ensuring the grip of the point
You might have pushed ahead
And you make your next step
After reaching the next point of contact
You push ahead
Exerting the force of the push
On the point of contact
The more frequently you
Meet the points of contact
The faster is your movement and going ahead
The point of contact acts as fulcrum
That ensures your push becomes a movement
Thus, you will agree,
Points of contact
Help you move
Regardless of the direction
And regardless of the destination
Quality of your movement
Depends a lot on the
Quality of the points of contact
A slippery, less firm point of contact
Makes you slip
And end up with failure
Your journey terminating not
Helping you reach the destination
Despite all your skills
And efforts towards pushing ahead
You understand that
Points of contact need your attention
They need nourishment
Maintenance and care
The Point of contact need not be
Just a material or stone
Or a step in a ladder or staircase
It can also be a person
Who helped you in your movement
Some time, some where and some how
It is also a requirement
That you be in touch with them
Demonstrating your care and love for them
Your life journey
Either through vocational career,
Or through domestic living
Or through places
Require the blessings of points of contact
Take care of them
Nurture them
Ensure that they are fit and strong enough
To carry your weight
And help you go further ahead in life

A Mother Giraffe’s Baby-Kiss!
This is your mother’s kiss, my child!
Don’t you worry: things will be fine;
Just eat and sleep and play awhile.
You’ve had your birth on lovely earth;
You’ll take your time to grow up tall;
Soon you’ll become a long-necked beast!
Wait till your legs get strength to stand;
Wait till your bones can make you walk;
Wait till your mouth reaches tree-leaves!
And when you’re tall as your mother,
And children look at you in awe,
You will feel truly, very great!
This is your mother’s kiss of love;
This is your mother’s kiss of pride;
For when you match her neck and stride,
You must bend low too, from above!

My writing is a combination of three elements. The first is travel: not travel like a tourist, but travel as exploration. The second is reading literature on the subject. The third is reflection.

Growing Up
Folded in your fleshy purse
I am floating once again
While the muted sounds are pumping rhythm
All the walls close in on me
Pressures building wave on wave
til the water breaks and outside I go, oh
One dot, thats on or off, defines what is and what is not, one dot
Two dot, a pair of eyes, a voice, a touch, complete surprise, two dot
Growing up, growing up,
Looking for a place to live
Growing up, growing up
Looking for a place to live
Growing up, growing up,
Looking for a place to live
My ghost likes to travel so far in the unknown
My ghost likes to travel so deep into your space
Three dot, a trinity, a way to map the universe,
Three dot
Four dot, is what will make a square, a bed to build on, its all there,
Four dot
My ghost likes to travel so far in the unknown
My ghost likes to travel so deep into your space
All the slow clouds pass us by
Make the empire state look high
As you take me in your sea-stained sweetness
It spills, it tingles and it stings
All the pleasure that it brings
til the door has let the outside inside here
Well on the floor theres a long wooden table
On the table theres an open book
On the page theres a detailed drawing
And on the drawing is the name I took
My ghost likes to travel so far in the unknown
My ghost likes to travel so deep into your space
Growing up, growing up,
Looking for a place to live
Growing up, growing up
Looking for a place to live
Growing up, growing up,
Looking for a place to live
Growing up, growing up,
Looking for a place to live
My ghost likes to travel
My ghost likes to travel
Moving inside of your space
My ghost likes to travel
My ghost likes to travel
Moving inside of your space
My ghost likes to travel
Moving inside
My ghost likes to travel
Moving inside of your space
My ghost likes to travel
Moving inside
My ghost likes to travel
Moving inside of your space
The breathing stops, I dont know when
In transition once again
Such a struggle getting through these changes
And it all seems so absurd
To be flying like a bird
When I do not feel Ive really landed here

Walking We Learn the Nature of the Path
How sad
we as men come to
identify ourselves
so eagerly
with our amnesia
refugees of primordial ruins
in our post daze haste
we looked to the sky
recognizing only
our ambitious self
this hollow reflection
we mistakenly worshiped as god
manic triggers set mind upon sin
indulgent pleasure lays in bed with lust
ticket to vice
placed picture perfect
in the open palm
of the eager child's hand
comatose tourist combing
uncle sams fantasy island
always action
often over priced
fine print restrictions
are implied principles
of doing business
no return ever guaranteed
empty pocket auctioning
broken promise vouchers
but brighter roads never stray
too far ahead
from these dark woods
hear the call of the shore
rising ever more sonorous
as we near the clearing
soon water
just up ahead, light
every forward step
reverberates
from a single movement:
now walking together
we learn the nature of the path

Newcastle,1936
In a humble little cottage
in a poorer part of town.
A tea kettle was whistling,
And the rain was pouring down.
Grandpa turned back from the window,
To where “mother” poured the tea.
“I’ve made some soda bread,
why don’t you come an sit with me? ”
Grandpa did as he was bidden-
A cup of tea was just the thing,
in a delicate bone china cup
which bore a picture of the King.
As a stranger in a strange realm
He had worked the mines for years.
He had put food on the table,
He had endured this vale of tears.
Now the world he knew was gone
And work was hard to find
Germany was rising
Which sons would war take this time?
Back when he was young and strong,
with no hostages to time.
He’d had the change to turn his back
on England’s harsher clime.
But then “mother’s” hair was golden
Her eyes a baby blue
Thoughts of leaving for America
paled next to thoughts of you.
He’d longed to travel far and wide
And see all sides of things.
He’d settled for his books and maps.
Some thoughts were childish dreams.
In a humble little cottage
in a poorer part of town.
A tea kettle was whistling,
And the rain was pouring down

It is only fantasy, not true!
Just imagine that earth is the size of a pinhead,
The universe may be the size of the earth.
when The universe is the size of the earth.
that earth may be the size of a pinhead,
The maximum time difference is less than a day,
Wherever we travel on the earth in pain or gay,
When we travel east or west, we either lose or gain,
A few of hours of the past and the future,
when the morning arrives earlier or later,
While the people, their age and their progress are the same,
But we gain or lose only less than a day on this planet of a pinhead.
When we travel in the universe which is the size of the earth,
How many years and decades that we need to go for a round,
When we travel east and west, we lose and gain in years,
Many years of past and the future that exists at the same moment,
So, when the time travelers return, they wouldn't be younger, not lament,
To look for their gone ancestors in the changed land scape,
As the human wherever they go and whatever they do,
They age at same pause gradually, not one age faster,
The other remain younger during the same period of roster.
I am a time traveler to travel faster to reach the future,
or dig the past, I am always the contemporary human to ponder.

Whole Lifetimes
we travel whole lifetimes
through the mud and the mire;
struggling, fighting, loving,
dreaming, believing against all doubt...
to find our brothers and sisters
lost in the passings,
in the comings and goings,
of birth and death...
to find the face of our mother,
in lands foreign and strange.
to do the work of our father
in the ruins of our shame...
to know each other,
the scents familiar;
and hear the sound of our own hearts
beating in another's return!
we travel whole lifetimes,
on this journey together!
for Dave, Terence, Smoky, Patti,
Valerie, Juan, Robert, Veeraiyah,
Romeo, Rajendran, and all the other
poets who tend this fire..

Second Thoughts
Relationships are analogous to travel.
On any journey travelers make mistakes.
Even the best laid travel plans unravel.
Ever wonder about applying the brakes?
Let’s pull over and look at the time map.
The past rehashes where we’ve been.
The present illuminates an emotional gap.
The future requires us to look deep within.
Take time to develop the individual’s skills first.
Sharing newly learned skills are how we start.
Long trips make even the best relationships thirst.
Drink deeply from the cup and fill your heart.
Two decide whether to continue the trip.
Every captain has a co-pilot at his side.
God didn’t give us an old slave ship.
Freewill serves each other on the ride.
Our journey is about to come to an end.
It didn’t have to end in such a tragic way.
Ultimately the couple must transcend.
My love remains a floral bouquet.
Relationships are analogous to travel.
On any journey travelers make mistakes.
Even the best laid travel plans unravel.
Ever wonder about applying the brakes?

A Sea of Melancholy
She sailed upon a gentle sea of melancholy-brave oars dipping.
She was awash with long ago laments which I could not guess.
Her movements were slow.
Her eyes never darted-they oozed from side to side-
tiny lagoons abutting her sea-
and languidly
she spoke to me.
'I have had so much sadness in my life
young'un and time was I was a bright young thing
but life can wear you down-only so many things can go wrong
before you put your finger to your head and imagine its a gun.'
Friends die, she said, I'm 93 and three husbands buried,
even most of the children dead.
Yet God keeps me lingering on, I think, way past my time.'
My great grandmother had this sad dignity, layers of laments
speaking to herself as much as to me.
'I wanted to know her, her life, and I was her great-great grandchild
eager to know who and where she came from.
She would sit, in her high-backed chair smoking little cigars
starting a story and then abandoning it. Some times she finished
a story but you never could be sure, because her voice would drift
off into memory.
'I was rambunctious' she was saying.' ran off the reservation, barely 20-
they were trying to marry me off to an old white man, half blind, and crazy.
'I was having none of that.
Walked right out and hopped the 401 freight, cap down passing myself off as a boy.
Had me a good old time too.
Them days people hunkered down in the freight cars and never spoke, looking
for a gin bottle and the next stop.
I was fine from the Dakotas to Chicago where in the last leg, a man noticed me
saying 'you ain't no boy are ya? '
Cutest boy, not much older than me, his pockets full of bread loaves and he
handed me one saying ' You look hungry.'
Gave me one of those big-as-a -house smiles of his and I was a goner from the start.
That is how love is sometimes just comes over ya and you just hold on for dear
life because you are not in control. It was like that with me and him.
Called me his 'box-car baby' and cuddled down with me for the final ride into
the city, eating bread and spinning dreams.
'Oh he was a dreamer, on the way to Chicago he said to get his share of some land his grandfather had left in in Alabam'. He was going to take that money he said and do big things-travel high wide and handsome, make him some money and find him a life mate cause times were too rough to travel through life alone.
When I die he said 'I want to die in the arms of my honey, just like this, ' he said squeezing on me.
It was not exactly a marriage proposal, but, he acted like it was and after a month of haggling with his kin in Chicago over who got what, he came out of the lawyer building waving a check saying 'let's go get hitched.' Just like that, he said it. just like that.
'We was together 30 years and God saw fit to take him early'
Great great grand looked at me with those melancholy eyes and said 'things
since have never been the same with me. Never got over God taking him.
Didn't seem fair.'
'Yes' she said 'life has a way of giving you a bit of heaven on earth and then for me heaven just went away.
A single tear formed behind her closed eye-lid, and, I imagined, dropped into her sea.

Your Ascent
How many times you’ve fallen means nothing.
It’s how many times you got up that make the difference.
Your climb toward life’s summit will suffer falls if you’ve charted a high enough course.
Each fall only makes your ascent sweeter if you arise wiser and continue.
Plan your next step rather than fearing your next fall.
If you start with fear, you have already fallen even before taking your next step.
During your ascent, you will rise and fall like the sea.
As the falls rise take care; as the rises fall take heart.
Beware of a slide masquerading as smooth ride.
As the tempo quickens, remember a fall is fast, an ascent slow.
Look ahead with your eyes and behind with your memory.
While ascending don’t let your vision be blurred by your memory.
Remember the past only as it can relate to your present and future.
The past without reference is nothing, but the past with only remorse is worse than nothing.
See the present for what it is rather than should have been.
Live the present before it is the past while planning for the future before it is the present.
During your ascent think quickly, but deliberately.
What you have put behind will gain on you if you don’t keep moving ahead.
Keep your mind on the summit, your eyes on the ascent and your foot on the very next step.

It's A Hard Road
I jumped on the train
I left this old town
I escaped the rain
I'm no longer down
The wheels start to turn
My worries are gone
I have lots to learn
About the trail that I'm on
As I look around
I see my new friend
I know I am bound
To travel till the end
I'll travel south and I'll travel north
I'll travel east and I'll travel west
I just want to find the road that is best
The train it did slow
I'm in a new place
The moonlight does glow
On my tired face
It's time for me
To try and find a bed
It's time for me
To rest my weary head
Morning is here
There's sorting to do
I'll sound sincere
With my goodbye to you
I'll travel south and I'll travel north
I'll travel east and I'll travel west
I just want to find the road that is best
It's time to move away
I'm not satisfied
I've spent many a day
Finding a place to reside
There's a town on my mind
It's just down the track
No need to find
A way to get back
The train I will get
Sitting at the station
The future is set
I feel anticipation
I'll travel south and I'll travel north
I'll travel east and I'll travel west
I just want to find the road that is best
