Give It To The Lord & The Rest Is History
I wonder if my child will be home on time,
After cousin Shari-Danielle’s graduation party?
I want a thirty-speed Schwinn racer is that a crime?
My report card does say twenty-two times tardy.
Hey, made a fantastic new friend today,
This person really makes me feel great,
Am I getting my hopes built up right away?
Time to go to work, can’t afford to be late.
I just adore that stylish new Chrysler 300 Hemi,
Wow, I would absolutely love to own that house,
Will I ever be able to afford a nice one, there’s so many?
On only one income since I do not have a spouse?
Seems like our minds and innermost working thoughts,
Are always on what we could or should have bought,
What we prized then turned around and now it’s lost,
Unable to forget years later we are still paying the cost.
If one speaks or acts with a cruel mind,
Misery follows as the cart comes after the horse,
When doing the same with thoughts pure and kind;
Happiness comes like a shadow follows its source.
John 16: 24, “Ask anything in My Name”,
Jesus said, “And you shall receive”,
Luke 8: 50 states, “Do not be afraid any longer”,
Our Lord promises, “All you have to do is believe”
The bible is not a book filled with maybes,
However, it is if we do not play our part,
Who’s been aware of us before we were babies?
God already knows what desires fills the heart,
There’s a scripture of the word for every situation,
So why is it that we have so many reservations?
Quit trying to figure out if you should turn left or right,
Or, I’ll decide in the morning after sleeping on it tonight.
First Peter Chapter 5 verse 7 & Psalms Chapter 55 verse 22,
Cast the whole of your cares or the burdens away from you,
All of your anxieties, all your worries and all your concerns,
Trust God to handle them, why does this take so long to learn?
Daily we all go through life's ups and downs,
As though it’s the universe & one great big mystery,
Deacon Everette Lowe’s favorite saying comes around,
'Give It To The Lord & The Rest Is History'.

A Married Man's A Fool
(Willie McTell)
Had a friend, Louie Brown, he was a deacon
Just as wise as he could be
Now I realized he could read the Good Book
Back from Revelations down to Genesis
You know last Sunday morning we was over to the church
My buddy wants to take him a stand
And he looks out upon that whole congregation
The Good Book in his hand
Now he cast his eye about, and then he looks over in the Amen Corner
All the sisters commenced to shout [What'd he say ?]
He said a married man's a fool to think that his wife love nobody else but him
She stick by you all your life the chances is mighty slim
Now you read the Good Book, chapter twenty-one:
Every married woman got to have a little fun
Read on over chapter twenty-two:
It's a sin to let that woman make a fool outta you
Now you read a little further, chapter twenty-three:
She two-time you, brother, like she double-crossed me
Read on back, over chapter ten:
She shimmy one time, you got the problem again
'Cause a married man's a fool to think that his wife
Loves nobody else but him, I mean, loves nobody else but him
Well, a married man's a fool to think that his wife
Loves nobody else but him
She stands by you all your life the chances is mighty and slim
Now you read on over twenty-fifth page:
Married womens, Lord, is hard to engage
Read kinda careful, chapter twenty-six:
Back door slamming you got to learn to get it fixed
Read on out, chapter twenty-eight:
Who's that back slidin' out through the back gate ?
I believe I'll close on chapter twenty-nine:
Woman get tired of the same man all the time
'Cause a married man's fool to think that his wife love nobody else but him

I Have Learned
Though in life I become distraught, to me, The Lord God has taught,
Through all of my years and days, that He works in miraculous ways,
When the times may appear bleak, as I find myself emotionally weak,
My tendency is to be concerned, ignoring all from Christ I've learned.
I learned to rest and be assured, through all things, in Christ my Lord,
Who holds me in His mighty hand, through times I do not understand,
Taking me through that darker time, not of my choice, but His design,
While using my life just as He wills, as a greater, purpose God fulfills.
Concerns to worry we can't afford, our focus must be upon The Lord,
Remembering the dark times past, all concerns to Him I need to cast,
Casting to my Savior my every care, as all concerns with God I share,
Or else undue concerns entangle us, this when we forget Christ Jesus.
Hard times, dark as they may be, are small steps, on towards eternity,
Steps, in which The Lord Jesus, is molding each and every one of us,
As God shapes us to be like Christ, through all current trials in our life,
Purifying us through our life's fires, to become what The Lord desires.
So when times get hard, I recall, Jesus Christ, is still the Lord over all,
As the same God, Who created me, during all times, helps me to see,
His hand is in every step I take, knowing that my Lord will not forsake,
My side, as God helps me to stand, firmly in times I don't understand.

[Intro: DMX]
Uh! (Our father) I'm a talk this (Who art in heaven)
Start walk this
[Verse 1: DMX]
In the name of Jesus
I can have everything good of the earth be given to me by him
In the name of Jesus
There would be never be a time that I have to fight the devil and I cannot win
In the name of Jesus
I lose all strong holds that the devil had over my life
In the name of Jesus
When I save a thousand two or save ten
So I thank the lord for my wife
In the name of Jesus
I want to thank you what you showed me what you told me
In the name of Jesus
I want to thank you for your love and watchin over me
In the name of Jesus
I don't have to, go through what I went through anymore
In the name of Jesus
I don't have to (What!) now that I got you in my life ever more (Come on!)
[Chorus: Patti LaBelle]
I know it cannot happen without you, you you, without you, oh, oh oh oh
Without you
[Verse 2: DMX]
In the name of Jesus
You gave me the book, so now I just look when I need the word
In the name of Jesus
You took, a crook, gave him a new look now he speaks the word
In the name of Jesus
It don't matter what we did tell it to the lord and he forgives
Whatever it was right or wrong
I'm a catch up with the herd then I'm comin home
In the name of Jesus
I ran away for far too long starve too long
In the name of Jesus
Where people perish for lack of knowledge
They all too strong let's get it on
In the name of Jesus
I realize I'm a sinner
I repent my sins and right this moment am a beginner
Baby in the spirit, let me go
In the name of Jesus please let me go!!!! (Come on!)
[Chorus: Patti LaBelle]
I know it cannot happen without you, you you, without you, oh, oh oh oh
Without you
[Bridge: DMX + (Patti LaBelle)]
I gotta say what's on my mind (Say what's on your mind)
You saved my life a thousand times (Saved a thousand times)
Gave me a dream that came to be
Opened my eyes so I could see

I had my ups and had my downs
Until you turned my life around
And I want the whole world to see
They don't know what you mean to me

Trust In God
God in His Word is so clear; so why do will fill our hearts with fear?
Moving our thoughts into tomorrow; what may bring pain or sorrow,
While thinking about what may be, focusing on what we cannot see;
God is clear, we must understand, and live this present day at hand.
So much time in worry we spend, about what you can’t know friend,
Instead, to God’s Word we must go, to lean on Truths that we know,
To visit promises from The Lord, promises that at times go ignored,
God’s Promises that will uphold us, when in God, we place our trust.
For today can be a struggle in itself, so we rely on Scriptural Wealth,
A wealth of promises, to all of us, those who belong to Christ Jesus,
Who’s surely a promise keeping God, this I say with an assuring nod,
All the promises that He must keep, are promises, which we can reap.
Through God’s Word, we can learn, God takes care of every concern,
And The Lord is faithful to uphold, the many promises that we’re told,
Providing strength, so we can face, all of the trials, all along our race,
In the present race that we call life, strengthened through Jesus Christ.
The Lord promises us His Peace, which from Christ, shall never cease,
With God’s peace and God’s care, just why would we fall into despair?
This is caused through worry in part, as our thoughts from God depart,
So why not depart from anxiety, to simply trust in The God of Eternity.
Better Than Expected
I am feeling better than expected, on a journey I haven’t selected,
An unexpected journey in this life, that could bring pain and strife,
Not fully aware what it’s all about; I may even struggle with doubt,
Concerning The Lord’s faithful love, or God’s Power, from above.
I could question His power to heal, a sudden illness that is so real,
Or even question the reason why, this befell on to my family and I;
And for them what may lie ahead, regarding an illness many dread,
But this He allowed to happen to me, for He’s The God of Eternity.
Friend, this isn’t just another story, but, a real life, for God’s Glory,
Another chapter in my life, of the sustaining Grace of Jesus Christ,
More pages on God’s Grace to me, as we journey towards eternity,
While all I need, He will afford, through Jesus, my Savior and Lord.
In days ahead, my Lord will sustain, me through any trials and pain,
And Christ shall uphold all my family, in ways that we’ve yet to see;
What I will feel like, I don’t know, but God will help me when I’m low,
To trust in The Rock of Ages, as in this chapter, He turns the pages.
Whatever happens, I know for sure, I will be with Christ forevermore,
And my Lord shall forsake me not, whatever may be my present lot.
For every lot, cast within my life, is through the Will of Jesus Christ,
Who grants me an abiding peace, which from God, will never cease.

Thank You Lord For Work
For work, we thank You Lord
Indeed it is a blessing.
To buy the things we can afford,
A source of income for our living.
Work is good, a great therapy.
It cures both idleness and pockets,
We make use of Your time wisely
And when bills come we do not fret.
Work does give one dignity,
Self-reliance and Self Respect.
We do not lean on sympathy
But do our part as all expect.
Thank You Lord, bless our hands
That our work may be completed.
Bless our minds to understand
Work is Your gift - appreciated.

Every time a child is conceived,
a new life just blooms. It's God's gift!
Every time a baby is born,
another cycle of life just began. Angelic!
The very first time the baby cries,
a miracle just happened. Majestic!
The mystery in this child's life just started.
That is just wonderful!
I know you say that it is your choice but
don't forget it's the baby's ~ right to live!
Please do not DELETE this off your mind.
You got to think hard to do or not to do it.
The pressure is on you. Your life.
It is your pride versus the baby's right.
You got to ponder how in the world can you
afford to raise this child? Will you
sacrifice your future and the rest of your
life for the terrible quick mistake you made?
What kind of life would this child have?
The child is there...let him live!
The child could be a genius, a scientist,
the next president or an astrounaut.
That is just wishful thinking!
But does that really matter?
Remember, this child is your flesh and blood.
It is part of you!
Who knows this child might even save your life and many more.
Please do not ABORT!
Fifteen years from now the child will be a teenager.
Later on will be a young adult and shape his own life.
This child will be part of your joys and happiness,
fears and tears, more worries and some and more.
What child would he be? - so you may ask.
You begin to worry and it can get scary.
Life's influences on this child are so varied and many.
The friends and acquaintances the child may befriend
have tremendous effect of what he will become.
His toys, his hobbies, and his peers,
you, and the family and life as a whole
will be part of this child's personality.
This child will be fine, don't worry!
Let this one live.
Please do not DELETE this off your mind.
Thirty years or so from now this child will be a fully grown person.
This child will have a personality of his own.
This child might or could have accomplished something
really great that you can be proud of.
This child might or could done something terrible too
and you would have said and say to yourself...
'If only I knew! '
But don't take it as your fault. He is what he will become!
No one knows the future.
You should be proud you gave this child...
a choice to live instead ~
You did not ABORT!
Twenty some years ago, there was this young lady
who got pregnant and was left on her own
by someone she thought loves her and
will marry her and will live happily ever after. Huh?
DELETE that!
She thought long and hard what to do
with her pregnancy...the baby!
She was worried to death of her future,
her pride, the baby's future...just like you.
It was a tough decision, a life and death choice
to make and the baby's right to live.
This lady made the right choice -
she gave birth to her baby...a lovely beautiful baby
and turned out to be a fine lady,
a good daughter ~ You!
Please return the favor, do not ABORT!

Filling Of Peace
As God fills me with His Peace, concerns and worry begins to ease,
As The Spirit redirects my thought, peace within, by God is wrought,
Focusing more upon God’s Love, than the concerns, that I speak of,
As God continues to help me learn, He’s totally aware of all concern.
With the concern I presently face, His Spirit reminds me of His Grace,
As Grace from my Lord is able to, give me hope and see me through,
The darkest trial that comes in my life, in the strength of Jesus Christ,
This when I fix my eyes on Him, whose plans are made not on a whim.
God knows the plans that He’s made, and on The Rock they were laid,
And there’s nothing that can thwart, what God purposed from the start,
It is during the times when, I go astray, that testing may come my way,
As for all He purposes, it’s understood; it’s only meant to do us good.
Our lives and ways are not ignored, upon this earth by Christ our Lord,
And what may appear, at first glance, to be in this life a happenstance,
Is our Lord God working out all things, this as our lives together brings,
Eternal Glory unto The Son of God, as we live life on this temporal sod.
So through trials of an earthly kind, I’m moved to have a heavenly mind,
This as all things are working together, for that time that will last forever;
Trials and concerns may not cease, but, Christ grants me perfect peace,
As I look forward to what He prepares, in an Eternity which has no cares.

The Book Of My Life
Let me watch by the fire and remember my days
And it may be a trick of the firelight
But the flickering pages that trouble my sight
Is a book I'm afraid to write
It's the book of my days, it's the book of my life
And it's cut like a fruit on the blade of a knife
And it's all there to see as the section reveals
There's some sorrow in every life
If it reads like a puzzle, a wandering maze
Then I won't understand 'til the end of my days
I'm still forced to remember,
Remember the words of my life
There are promises broken and promises kept
Angry words that were spoken, when I should have wept
There's a chapter of secrets, and words to confess
If I lose everything that I possess
There's a chapter on loss and a ghost who won't die
There's a chapter on love where the ink's never dry
There are sentences served in a prison I built out of lies.
Though the pages are numbered
I can't see where they lead
For the end is a mystery no-one can read
In the book of my life
There's a chapter on fathers a chapter on sons
There are pages of conflicts that nobody won
And the battles you lost and your bitter defeat,
There's a page where we fail to meet
There are tales of good fortune that couldn't be planned
There's a chapter on god that I don't understand
There's a promise of Heaven and Hell but I'm damned if I see
Though the pages are numbered
I can't see where they lead
For the end is a mystery no-one can read
In the book of my life
Now the daylight's returning
And if one sentence is true
All these pages are burning
And all that's left is you
Though the pages are number

A Proper Focus
When we focus on what we see, our mind’s not focused on Eternity,
On those eternal things above, that we receive, through God’s Love.
Things we focus on here below, earthly things, we’ve come to know,
Can fill our heart with undue fear, when we limit our focus down here.
For our focus turns into concern, and a heart inside begins to yearn,
But not prompted by pleasantries, but, the heart filled with anxieties,
About the things we can’t control, while worry begins to take its toll,
With concerns far above our realm, a heart will just be overwhelmed.
Our concerns cannot be all ignored, but, must be given to The Lord,
Who sits above Heavenly realms, and our concerns He overwhelms.
With His Eternal Authority over all, earthly concerns to Him are small,
And in His time, I need to learn, He handles each and every concern.
Concerns, when they overwhelm us, lead us away from simple trust,
The simple faith we place in Him, when Christ saved us from our sin.
Through our trial, God gets Glory, as it was in Israel’s Exodus story,
Even with Pharaoh’s hardened heart, came a Glory that didn’t depart.
Today, our eyes should always be, focused on The Lord of Eternity,
The same one who delivered Israel, will work in our life His good will,
Today take on His yoke that’s light, for what He does, He does right,
To work out His purpose in the life, of all who belong to Jesus Christ.

Why Me Lord
[verse 1]
Early Sunday morning in the spring of 96
Chilling on the couch watching the bulls against the knicks
My honey marches in and ask if I think I'm slick
It seem she found my shirt with lipstick
I thought I could explain but then my story wouldn't stick
Incriminating pictures show me some other chicks
It happened once before and she was tired of the tricks
She ask me if I can spell the word evict
[chorus]
Why me lord situation looking kinda bad
Why me lord I lost the best girl I ever had
Why me lord I'm homeless and I'm feeling kinda sad
Why me why me why me why me
Why me lord how you member massa god so quick
Why me lord when trouble tek you pickney shirt a fit
Why me lord is just because you don't know when to quit
Why me why me why me why me
[verse 2]
Just the other day when I was rolling with my crew
Made a little flex around by flatbush avenue
Calling to some honeys and sipping on my brew
That's when I saw the boys in blue
Pulled us to the side why I don't even have a clue
Looking for a reason and they finally found a few
A case of ammunition and a loaded thirty two
I can't believe what I'm going through
[chorus]
Why me lord here I am I gotta face the time
Why me lord though the evidence ain't even mine
Why me lord I swear I ain't guilty of the crime
Why me why me why me why me
Why me lord how you member massa god so quick
Why me lord when trouble tek you pickney shirt a fit
Why me lord is just because you don't know when to quit
Why me why me why me why me
[bridge]

Never let yourself be over come by greed
Walk the straight and narrow and you shall succeed

Everybody else deserve a piece a the pie
Honesty the best policy no sell no samfie

Don't Peter Out
Before the Saviour met His end upon the Cross of Christ,
He washed the feet of each close friend, for each was highly prized.
Though Peter looked and stared amazed at what God's Son would do,
Such love for him was not embraced, 'I should do this for You! '
Yet Jesus said he must be clean, his soul was in great need...
This was God's time to intervene, so Peter then agreed...
Yet this same friend denied the Lord, 'I do not know this man! '
His coward soul proved him a fraud... How could he know God's plan?
His expectations led astray, his hopes completely crushed...
To him, it was like Judgment Day, now humbled, he was hushed...
Yet Jesus prayed that he might stand and rise above it all...
One day to hold Christ's holy hand and preach as bold as Paul...
You've lost someone, I've lost someone... Like Peter, we've all wept...
Yet through it all, let's love God's Son, the promises He's kept...
So count your blessings in the Lord... Salvation here and now!
That's why we stand in Christ assured, that's why we kneel and bow...
Yes, there's a God and God is love, no God has greater worth...
His grace for us is quite enough, more grace than we deserve.
Life isn't always Sunday School... We must withstand the knocks!
Just trust in God! He's not a fool... God thinks outside the box!

Seek The Lord
Friend, if you seek to understand, you will know The Son of Man.
If you search with all your heart, Christ will guide you at the start.
Christ will give you eyes to see, that shall help your heart believe.
You will see Him throughout the day, as He leads you all the way.
The Lord is on the written page, and is read by men of every age.
He is the Living Word of God, and He will guide you with His rod.
Friend, if you seek The Lord above, He will fill you with His Love.
With His love He gives a peace, along the way that will not cease.
And in The Lord you can depend, He wants to be to you, a friend.
If you seek to find Him friend, He shall lead you to a glorious end.
On the cross He did His part, to change your mind and your heart.
Friend, now the rest is up to you, for Jesus did what He had to do.
Seek Christ in the written Word, to confirm what you have heard.
Friend, if you truly seek The Lord, your effort shall not be ignored.
For your eyes will be opened to, everything God has done for you.
The Lord’s promises you will see, are good through all of Eternity.
Seek Him while He can be found, and you will be on solid ground.
Seeking will lead you to believe, then Jesus Christ you will receive.
And your search for The Lord, will reap for you an Eternal Reward.
For all who do seek Jesus Christ, receive through faith Eternal Life.
Between 60 and 20 What Is The Difference?
The Entrapment movie comes to my mind
When I think of my age, mind and mood!
Though Sean Connery is 20 years elder
And I have attained 60 I still feel 20 years!
I like romantic life though it was not possible;
But The Entrapment situation I am placed now!
Also, Never Say Never Again 007 movie
Seems to be mostly my mind and mood now!
In poetry as in novels and stories it can be
Handled pretty well it seems after coming here!
Many things youngsters are wanting to know
And that provokes me handle their matters
By indulging in their romantic pursuits in verse!
There was no time for love when I was young
As I was placed in such situation and works
Whether I was studying in college or in business
Due to my joint family constraints and obligations!
Many opportunities and amorous damsels were
At my disposal but I didn’t have that mind then!
Though that situation continued I was tightly set
To do everything vital for the survival of all partners
So much that I could not even dream of romance!
At the last vestige of my life I am in writing mode
And I am imagining or dreaming now those romance
I should have indulged and enjoyed long, long ago!
Now Lord Krishna surrounded by Gopis of Gokulum
Only comes to my mind when I think of my situation!
It is left to the romantic dames to imagine rest of
The matter about a person of 60 in the mood of 20!
Will the time turn back to the young romantic time
Once again for me and make true “history repeats” itself? !

The Higher Power
How great is God, how great indeed!
How wondrous are His Laws!
How merciful to those in need
And to each righteous cause...
God is not deaf who made our ears,
Nor blind who made our eyes...
Nor is He mindful of the years
That He might show surprise!
He does not sleep, nor feint, nor fade,
Nor slacken from His word,
His promises are proudly made
So that our faith is stirred.
It's true that we were made of dust,
In Adam long ago,
Yet we've been saved, in God we trust,
In Jesus' Name we grow...
The higher power God now shares
Is free to one and all
Who humbly offer God their prayers,
No matter, great or small...
Rejoice, dear Christian saints on Earth,
Lord Jesus is our friend...
And though God's grace we don't deserve,
His mercies never end...
I tell you this, the Lord still heals,
His wonders never cease.
His tender heart knows how each feels...
His power grants us peace.
Our God's the Potter, we're the clay...
God's word is so sublime...
So rest in Jesus, come what may,
Take one day at a time...

Would He Even Know Me Now?
The past is full of shades and shapes
Of people, come and gone,
'Whatever happened to so and so, '
We say, when the mood is on;
But closer still, our parents live
In the warmth of our hearts and minds,
And my father often returns to me
To haunt my quiet times.
How do you deal with a love so deep
That it tears your life apart?
The day that he left, he took a piece
Of my ever caring heart,
He died, and so did I that day,
But I couldn't even cry,
A loss so great to a fickle fate -
I wept, though my eyes were dry.
Though that was twenty years ago
I remember in every way,
He'll always be just the way he was
On that final, desperate day;
But I have changed, I'm older now
And life has never been kind,
The years have indelibly traced their path
On my face, my body and mind.
My father knew me way back when,
A child, a teen, young man,
I hovered around the forty mark
When he left in the Lord's great plan;
But one thing worries my troubled mind
And it haunts my thoughts somehow,
If we were to pass on the street today
Would he even know me now?
