Funny Farm Frenzy

Welcome to the funny farm,
Let’s embrace in the steel embedded walls without harm,
Welcome to delusion, the land of charm,
Inside the walls is the realm of the most brilliant of men,
The schizophrenics, and the bi polars, everything torments them,
But inside the insane asylum, they escape from condemn,
The funny farm where you’re surrounded with laughter,
Through the air, the giggles are hidden beneath the rafters,
Constant delusion, from morning, afternoon and thereafter,
Manuscripts and portraits, the artistic minds inside the brilliant drafters,
The mentally ill the most creative of mind,
Inside the asylum, escaped from reality, their thoughts refined,
Inside the asylum, their life is left behind,
On the white walls where portraits and creative writing shine,
Without sunlight, they’re the creators of their own realm of divine,
Inside the white walls, in their delusion, their confined,
The funny farm where humor is their lifeline,
Welcome to delusion, the neverending dream,
Inside the asylum things are not what they seem,
To reality it’s a prison, to the patients it’s their regime,
But what happens when the walls blacken in the night?
The laughter fades and their humor turns to spite,
They crumble in the fear of darkness without the touch of sunlight,
And they realize something about them isn’t “right”,
Isolated from the world their trapped in the dark,
Only within the walls, is their adventure to embark,
Inside their asylum, a community of reality segregated apart,
Their lifeline, through vivid imagination they depart,
They cannot see the walls around them, it’s their everyday home,
Inside the closed doors, their only space to roam,
An everyday dream to separate from reality, the unknown,
But when the lights turn on, and the walls turn white, the asylum fills with glee,
The reality inside the funny farm, the walls they can’t see,
They open their mind to creativity and imagination where their free,
The most creative of the mind, the indulgence of the what reality can’t see,
Up and down inside the walls, the rollercoaster of the emotional cycle spree,
The novel written and painted inside the asylum, the neverending dream,
Beyond the walls where reality isn’t seen.

Ideas For Walls

So many things in my head, Ive always had them before
No reason to be upset, theyre just ideas for walls
Now Im standing inside, outside, which is the right side
Im standing, demanding that the nightlife be called the right life
Like putting paint on my feet & walking sideways in rows
My walls could be so complete, complete with patterns of toes
Now Im standing inside, outside, which is the right side
Im standing the left side, right side, which is the right side
Now-ideas
Ideas for walls
Ideas for walls
Ideas for walls
A little m for the mirror, a double u for the wall
To make things perfectly clear, a great big h in the hall
Now Im standing inside, outside, which is the right side
Im standing, demanding that the nightlife be called the right life
Is everybody confused? (no) Im making no sense at all
You want a room with a view you need ideas for walls
Now Im standing inside, outside, which is the right side
Im standing inside, outside, outside, right side
Inside, outside, which is the right side
Now -- ideas

Walls Of Red Wing

Oh, the age of the inmates
I remember quite freely:
No younger than twelve,
No older n seventeen.
Thrown in like bandits
And cast off like criminals,
Inside the walls,
The walls of red wing.
From the dirty old mess hall
You march to the brick wall,
Too weary to talk
And too tired to sing.
Oh, its all afternoon
You remember your home town,
Inside the walls,
The walls of red wing.
Oh, the gates are cast iron
And the walls are barbed wire.
Stay far from the fence
With the lectricity sting.
And its keep down your head
And stay in your number,
Inside the walls,
The walls of red wing.
Oh, its fare thee well
To the deep hollow dungeon,
Farewell to the boardwalk
That takes you to the screen.
And farewell to the minutes
They threaten you with it,
Inside the walls,
The walls of red wing.
Its many a guard
That stands around smilin,
Holdin his club
Like he was a king.
Hopin to get you
Behind a wood pilin,
Inside the walls,
The walls of red wing.
The night aimed shadows
Through the crossbar windows,
And the wind punched hard
To make the wall-siding sing.
Its many a night I pretended to be a-sleepin,
Inside the walls,
The walls of red wing.
As the rain rattled heavy
On the bunk-house shingles,
And the sounds in the night,
They made my ears ring.
til the keys of the guards
Clicked the tune of the morning,
Inside the walls,
The walls of red wing.
Oh, some of usll end up
In st. cloud prison,
And some of usll wind up
To be lawyers and things,
And some of usll stand up
To meet you on your crossroads,
From inside the walls,
The walls of red wing.

Walls

Walls of stone and walls of brick,
Some walls thin and some walls thick,
Walls so high and walls so low,
Walls to hide and walls to show.

Walls quite short and walls quite tall,
Some walls, last well, some walls fall,
Walls for comfort, walls of hate,
Walls for security, walls ornate.

Some as a barricade, some to support,
Walls of wood and walls of iron wrought,
Walls as a barrier, walls to enclose,
Some are to sit on, some to lean and doze.

Walls we build ourselves, these aren't good,
Walls for privacy, walls that have stood,
So many years through weather foul or fine,
Walls, that are yours, walls that are mine.

Brick by brick they are built to last,
Whether built now or in the past,
They shelter us from so many things,
And shield us from whatever this life brings.

Separated Between Two Walls

between two walls
i find myself in but
i do not tarry, i am,
the resilient wind
and i lift myself up
and see the walls
from a distance.

they say they are
protective of me.
they say they want
to keep me safe
and at bay with what
is right and true.

the walls of fantasy
and the
the walls of reality.

these are not walls
sooner i will make
them myriad openings
exits and entrances
to the house of my
peace and happiness.

Have You Experienced Inside A Wall Within A Wall Within A Wall?

i laugh since i broke a wall and i smile because finally i am free
and yet when i try to smile anew i find myself inside another wall again.

i break another wall again and again and again
but the walls keep walling me like i am its lover.

and finally i give up, i feel the walls too loving and caring for me.
and then i care for the walls and learn to love each corner
its thickness its soundless world

and then i tell the house where the walls are growing healthy,
i am glad about walls. They keep me secure. And then finally i said it for once.

the walls love me. and i love the walls since then.

Between Walls Between Walls

walls around us
always walls around us
morning till noon
till night walls always walls between
us i try to inser some words
of consolation between us
all walls rain walls between us
there is no word for us
for it
we, it, we, us, there is nothing
between us
air, between, us, air, air, air,
between us, still walls, walls,
speak, speak
why, why are these walls still walls
between us

i guess, you are dead, then
cogito, eureka,
will i be a happy man then?

Break Down The Walls

I used to think that labels were just symbols of pride
but over time I've seen they only served to divide
It's so easy to judge people by the way them seem to be
We must overcome this problem to live life peacefully
Break Down The walls!
yes,we'll break down the walls
look beyond the fashion or the crowd that they are in
look beyond their riches or the color of their skin
look beyond appearance and the truth you will find
look for what's inside before you make up your mind
break Down The walls
yes, we'll break down the walls

These Walls

In your heart there are oceans
In your heart there are flowering trees
Look inside and live inside these walls
Your body yearns
In your dreams, youve seen castles
In your dreams youve been kings and queens
Youve ridden white horses past these walls
Your body yearns
Im not one to say I know what you go through
I only wanna open wide the window and let sunlight through
For you
In your face, I see longing
In your face, I see hopes and fears
Youve been locked for too long behind these walls
Your body yearns
Im not one to say I know what you go through
I only wanna open wide the window and let sunlight through
For you
Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me
What youre feeling
Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me
What you need
Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me
Everything
Take my hand and Ill lead you
Take my word that Ill not deceive you
I only want to carry you on beyond these walls
Your body yearns
Im not one to say I know what you go through
I only wanna open wide the window and let sunlight through
For you

Maybe Its Love

(written by annie roboff, beth nielsen chapman)
Everybodys heart aches
Every time it opens
You dont know if youll win or lose
You have to just let go
No I wasnt looking
Its funny how I found you
Just when I thought
Id live my life alone
Maybe its love
That I have longed for
Maybe its love
I should be strong for
Im tearing down the walls inside
I want to laugh, and cry and kiss
Maybe its love
I miss
Ive close my heart down
So many seasons
I didnt want to hurt again
I didnt want to try
So I turned myself to ice and stone
Said I dont need anyone
And nobody else
Would ever make me cry
Maybe its love
Ive run away from
Maybe its love
Bringing me back home
Im tearing down the walls inside
I want to laugh, and cry and kiss
Maybe its love I miss
So put your arms around me now
Hold me tight
Show me how
No one has ever loved me more
Ive waited for so long
Maybe its love
Maybe Im dreaming
Maybe its love
I can believe in
Im tearing down the walls inside
I want to laugh, and cry and kiss
Maybe its love
Maybe its love
Maybe its love

Inside Out

Inside out, ooh you got me inside out
Oh inside out, oh inside out
Now everybody keeps on telling me how to be
And everybody tells me do what they say
Oh Ill help myself its up to me and no-one else
But till Im ready just keep out of my way
Inside out, ooh you got me inside out
Oh inside out, oh inside out
Now everybodys got me running round, up and down
And here I am going out of my mind
But I wont lose sight of all the, the things Im looking for
Theyre coming to me and Im taking whats mine
Inside out, ooh you got me inside out
Oh inside out, oh inside out
Ill play the game
Well make the same mistakes
Its all the same
If we can give and take
Hold on, hold on, ooh
Hold on, hold on, ooh
Inside out, ooh you got me inside out
Oh inside out, oh inside out
All of my life Ive been searching and hanging on
Turning a corner, never know what Id find
But now Im back again like I never went away
Ooh let me in Im through with wasting my time
Inside out, ooh you got me inside out
Oh inside out, oh inside out
Oh inside out, ooh you got me inside out
Oh inside out, oh inside out

Its Ok

Its ok
Love is only meant for some
Im the rock
The shoulder you can cry on
I keep the walls from falling down
I keep the walls from falling down
I keep the walls from falling down
Ill play it straight
While you laugh and drink and party all night long
Ill designate myself
To be the driver who takes you home
I keep the walls from falling down
I keep the walls from falling down
You can be pretty and tragic
Ill try to keep the walls from falling down
You can be beautiful and fabulous
Ill try to keep the walls from falling down
I cant reach the pain you feel
But Ill try to keep the walls from falling down
If you can hold on
Lose your fear
Ill try to keep the walls from falling down
Falling down
Falling down
Where is your saint
To let you know youre not alone
To bring you peace
Help me be your friend your confidante
And keep the walls from falling down
Keep the walls from falling down
Keep the walls from falling down

Time Passes

Time is passing while I am waiting
For true life to have some meaning-
Time is passing and I blindly
Count to ten upon my fingers-
Not knowing and not even able to distinguish
What is real from what is not?
One, two, three and the voices inside me won't stop commanding-
Four, five and six-
All I see are snakes within the bleakness and confinement of this room-
Seven, eight, and nine, and even through this dim light I believe I am being watched-
I count aloud to ten upon my fingers and
Time is passing and all that is all that I hear for the moment-
All that I see, I reach out to touch or to open my eyes to see-
Time has passed and everything is silent, without a trace of
Ever being near and once more I count,
Starting at seven, eight and then nine- watching the second hand on the wall clock and
Ten? Ten more hours to be locked inside of this empty, room where
The walls are barren and I am alone with my thoughts-
Time is passing and I would be running away, but there is nowhere to run to, except to
Places inside of my mind and one, two three and all that I see is
The walls of this empty room and a locked door-
I could count from one to a thousand and
Inside of this room I would remain- I could count to one million and
I would die before I even got there- so I count from one to three over and over because
Everything is seemingly easier when I am lost inside the world of my fantasies and
I realize now what is not truly real and threatening shall never harm me and
Time is passing and as I count, I am blissfully losing myself inside the world
I have made here inside of my mind for myself, alone…
This way time may pass even before the sun rises tomorrow, and then-and then?
My life perhaps shall have some meaning-

Locked Inside Your Prison

Your love is like a prison wall
And its getting higher
I get so far and then I fall
I cant get through the wire
Oh oh oh Im locked inside your prison
Oh oh oh Im locked inside your prison
Its as though Im doing time
And you wont free me
Let the punishment befit the crime
And say you need me
Oh oh oh Im locked inside your prison
Oh oh oh Im locked inside your prison
Save me save me cant you see Im innocent
Turn the key that will set me free
Please let it end oh let it end
Oh oh oh Im locked inside your prison
Oh oh oh Im locked inside your prison
Save me save me cant you see Im innocent
Turn the key that will set me free
Please let it end wont you let it end
Ill dig a tunnel to your heart
Let me remind you
Even gonna tear the walls apart
Until I find you
Oh oh oh Im locked inside your prison
Oh oh oh Im locked inside your prison

These Walls

If these walls could talk,
I wonder what what would they say
Would they thank me for being painted
Or will they ask me, to wash the paint away.
Would they tell me of the pictures
That once hung upon them their
Pictures that once adorn those walls
Or I wonder would they even care.
Would they speak upon the stories
That was heard within these walls
That no one else even knows about,
That is if the stories these walls could recall.
Was there children laughter all about
Or any secrets heard and being told
I wonder what have they listened to
And I wonder if anyone will ever know.
These walls inside this house
That for years have stood alone
With the stories that was told and heard
While this house had became a home.
The Sadness that they might had seen
And the worries and sorrow that they felt
Maybe they don't want to remember it at all
And maybe they too keep it bottled upon their self.
Were they painted to cover up secrets
Was they battered as to protect someone's lies
Or were they wallpapered to cover up the truth
And did they hear the whispers and the cries.
These walls they are still standing
Through the years of the days and nights
While listening and knowing all done and said
In the darkness and also in the light.
I look at these walls just one last time
As I head home from my walk,
How I wish I knew what they heard and know,
But that is, if these walls could only talk.

Where Darkness Prevails

Outside my window- only darkness prevails and inside my bedroom
Shadows flutter about the walls-
Light has evaded every corner, the floors, and the ceiling and I know that
Even though my thoughts, misconstrued inside my own mind and
Yesterday seems as an eternity passed-
I never have been able to perceive what tomorrow may bring-
As I lie here in bleak darkness I hold onto the present moment
As it was a string to a kite
Ready to escape and disappear into the heavens-
Voices I can hear are none but a figment of my imagination and
Shadows have become ghosts that are threats to my existence-
It seemed as if none but a few hours ago- My spirit, lithe and free,
Had much hope for what tomorrow would bring and
Somehow that hope has vanished in the darkness-
Leaving me alone, terrified and trusting none but
The thoughts that run rampant inside of me-
Life is a mystery to me and how
The sun, a rainbow and laughter can turn to
Rain pouring from the darkest clouds in the universe,
And inside of my mind
That feeling of freedom and happiness has transformed to
Mistrust, anger and my grasp onto reality, flagging?
If I could only find a star in this prevailing darkness
That lurks outside my window I could wish upon that star for
Rejuvenation of peace and hope for a future –I would-
But now I hear torrents of rain falling outside that could just as well be
Tears from angel’s fury and betrayal?
The moon is full on this night and inside the world of my reflections
As old tales have declared- if I were to dance outside
Beneath the moon on this night, my sanity would be lost
In a gust of wind and my sprit would be reborn in another world,
Lithe and free as could be- in some other dimension, place and time
There would be a sun that would rise for me alone-
Time has evaded me and I believe I am holding onto that kite’s string
Soaring upward in the sky living for none but the present moment
Ready to escape and disappear into the heavens- where
Darkness has become none but a delusion?

The Finder Of The Exit

AROUND us are WALLS,
ALWAYS walls,
all walls, and up our longings
are our longings
like a sky up there
all sky, pure blue sky

we are never birds
by design
we are the geckos on walls
we always sound
echoes, lots of echoes that
return to us
from these walls around us

we are an island surrounded by water
down there
down here
there must be an exit

we must dive and be not afraid to drown
because we are never birds by design

there must be a cave where these waters
get inside us

we dive, dive deeper into our oceans of doubt
there is an exit

i know, now, where. Follow me.

Some Prisons Don't Have Walls

As I walk down this busy street
I think about your leaving
How my life may never be the same
I know I should be planning ways
To enjoy this endless freedom
Losing you has put my heart in chains.
Darling, some prisons don't have walls
Your memory won't let me go at all
I found no way out since you've been gone
Some prisons don't have walls.
Every night I turn the tv on
To break the sound of silence
For a while it takes you off my mind
Just when I feel over you reality surrounds me.
There I am right back doing time.
Darling, some prisons don't have walls
Your memory won't let me go at all
I found no way out since you've been gone
Some prisons don't have walls...

Should I Let You In

Should I let you in
Into my house with its concrete walls
Should I let you in
Into my room with its curtains drawn
I want to open up
And let you walk right through my door
Can you tell me
Is it worth
The risk anymore
Should I let you in ?
Should I let you in ?
Should I let you in ?
Should I let you in ?
Should I let you in
Into my far from perfect place
Should I let you see
Where I keep my secrets safe
I want to open up
But Ive been hurt this way before
Can you tell me
Is it worth the risk anymore ?
Should I let you in ?
Through my window
I see you now
Youre looking in
Im looking out
My heart will make up its mind somehow
Should I let you in into my house
Should I let you in inside these walls
Should I let you in into my heart
Should I let you in inside my world
Should I let you in ?
Should I let you in ?
Should I let you in ?

Or When You Are Inside A Dark Room

and all are solid walls
you hear no one and no one hears you
you stand and grapple for light
your hands feeling the sides of
the walls
you panic for an exit
and still there is none
you calm yourself
and sit on the floor
you close your eyes in this darkness
and see the light inside

is this not a relief? you breathe
deeper like you are throwing a rope with a pail
inside the hole
of a well

you hear nothing yet
until it hits the bottom
and then you settle for something
so temporal
like this: i am alright. Things will be.
