There's three in the wall from those pictures in the closet
Two in the bedroom from that night I lost it
One deep inside me determined to stay
They don't get any bigger but they don't go away
Holes in and around me I keep falling back into

People Who Live
People who live by the sea
understand eternity.
They copy the curves of the waves,
their hearts beat with the tides,
& the saltiness of their blood
corresponds with the sea.
They know that the house of flesh
is only a sandcastle
built on the shore,
that skin breaks
under the waves
like sand under the soles
of the first walker on the beach
when the tide recedes.
Each of us walks there once,
watching the bubbles
rise up through the sand
like ascending souls,
tracing the line of the foam,
drawing our index fingers
along the horizon

THE GATE did not open for you
the window is still closed to date
there is no way then
for you to go inside

as one of those lucky winners

ain't no survivor but i am glad with the way how you dance to this

the world is wide, the seas are incalculable, space is always and
will always be open with the arms of its

i like your attitude
when you tell me that you are packing your bags with your family
for a vacation this summer
beach, white sand, colored balloons, banana boats,
cold Pensacola, a new bikini, buffet dinners,
fun, fun, fun, more and more fun
until then you have forgotten what lurking is

We met one summer evening
As the sun was going down
She was lying on the beach
In her graduation gown
She was wrapped up in a blanket
(I could tell she knew her way around)

I Pulled Out My Shovel (Quatrain)
I Pulled Out My Shovel (Quatrain)
I pulled out my shovel
And dug a little hole
I dug even deeper
Trying to kill a mole
The digging was easy
The hole grew more and more
Then I thought to myself
I should have used my bore
I dug into the den
But the mole wasn't there
It was almost as if
It vanished in mid air
Then I saw a tunnel
It veered off to the right
So I thought to myself
I'd dig into the night
So I kept on digging
Until it petered out
Then I grew quite angry
So I had to shout
I never found that mole
But I did dig a hole
And filled it with a pole

Mom where are you summer’s over

Reading a book wearing your sunglasses

This Has Not Been A Part Of My Experience
You come to me with a desire,
To have me explain...
How best to take each step you make,
On the way to accomplish 'your' dream.
I admire that and I am flattered!
But what I would like to see you do...
First,
Is a stumbling fall as your crawl to your feet.
I want to see you move on from mistakes...
You believe defeat.
I want to see tears in your eyes,
Cried!
That you alone eventually dry.
I want you 'then' to come to me,
Acknowledging there is an understanding...
You have gained with relief.
Do not come to me,
Expecting a free trip to the beach.
With a relaxing done...
As you observe me showing you,
How to best build 'your' sandcastle.
As you direct what you would like,
From a 'vision' you wish to come alive...
While I sweat producing your fantasy!
This...
Has not been a part of my experience!
And I do not wish now to invite it.
What I've lived to overcome...
From you has been kept unseen.
And if we do lay on the beach...
It will be 'you' applying on my skin,
Any request I have for Sun blocking screen.

There's a little churchyard just along the way
It used to be lambeth's finest array
Of tombstones, epitaphs, wreaths, flowers all that jazz
Till the war came along and someone dropped a bomb on the lot
And in this little yard, there's a little old man
With a little shovel in his little bitty hand
He seems to spend all his days puffing fags and digging graves
He hates the reverend vicar and he lives all alone in his home
Ah-choo ! excuse me
Please mr. gravedigger, don't feel ashamed
As you dig little holes for the dead and the maimed
Please mr. gravedigger, i couldn't care
If you found a golden locket full of some girl's hair
And you put it in your pocket
God, it's pouring down
Her mother doesn't know about your sentimental joy
She thinks it's down below with the rest of her toys
And ma wouldn't understand, so i won't tell
