Children Die: Malnutrition

Think of the children that die each year, each minute, every couple of seconds, and think of how lucky you are. Please, spread the word of this poem, help me educate people about malnutrition's effect! ! !

Lying awake,
A yound child cries,
Her stomach is empty,
She'll probably die,

Could you have guessed,
That every 3.6 seconds,
A person dies,
From malnutrition and hunger,

One out of eight children,
Go to bed hungry each night,
Aged under twelve,
They soon lose the fight,

One-hundred-and-sixty million,
Children, years five and under,
Are malnurished,
And filled with hunger,

Fiften million children,
Die of hunger each year,
Their parents dead,
Or filled with tears,

Many of us worry,
About such trivial things,
Think of those children,
And what their fate is,

Please don't waste food,
And think of how lucky we are,
That we are all fed,
And not dead from malnutrition each year.

Invisible Children

Invisible Children

Their mothers can see them, but to us they’re invisible
These fate-cursed little creatures with long lashed, limpid eyes
In the poor part of town where hunger is permissible
Empty cupboards are opened with sad, hopeless sighs

Yes, we glimpse them occasionally, when famine strikes other nations
We see them on TV, broadcast from strange sounding lands
Hunger’s a democratic denizen, sparing no child it’s sensations
And welcomes our own crying children into it’s cold callous hands

Submission into malnutrition is the chronic condition
These hidden, unseen children must confront every day
Sentenced by hunger to a living perdition
On their mom’s leaden heart, these cruel conditions heavily weigh

While most of us worry about our kids overeating
About high fructose content, roughage and such
These kids, with ribs like infantile armatures, arms outstretched and pleading
remain unseen, out of sight, and unknown to our touch

Behind paint peeling doors, stoically enduring the horror of hunger
Cloaked in invisibility by the fickle fate of being poor
Conditions which no innocent, wide-eyed waif should live under
Scant noticed innocents, yet they’re out there for sure.

Radar and the invisible Hunger!

An officer asked at the frontier;
'Have you seen anything? '
'Yes Sir, scattered objects in the enemy territory.'
The Radar Observer replied with a salute!
Then the officer ordered to the infantry
'Rapid fire! '

My Heart Bleeds (98)

I fancy I can hear the sufferers moaning
The starving woman and the dying man
The malnourished children with the hunger blown pot bellies
My heart bleeds for the people of Sudan.

But these people they need far more than sympathy
They need food and care and medicine right away
They have eaten the seeds that they had to be planted
And hundreds die of hunger every day.

For life's small blessings I ought to be thankful
For I am one who doesn't have cause for moan
Compared to many I feel very privileged
The pangs of hunger I have never known.

One of my neighbours never stops complaining
He grumbles by life he is hard done by
But he looks overweight from over eating
And of malnutrition he will never die.

And another I know he tried to take his own life
Because his girlfriend left him he is in despair
I feel more pity for those dying of hunger
For a broken heart is not beyond repair.

In a Land ravaged by disease drought and hunger
To live to thirty years seen as a lengthy span
And my sympathy is with the starving millions
The hungry and the homeless of Sudan.

Hunger

Children of Haiti feeling hunger,
Children of Haiti feeling thirst,
Bellies getting bloated
like they will burst.
Not enough food, not enough water
Eyes filled with sadness
on every son and daughter.
Children of rich ones feel no hunger,
children of rich ones feel no thirst.
Bellies are filled up
like they could burst.

People

We travel single-o
Maybe were lucky but, I dont know
With them just let one kid fall down
And seven mothers faint
I guess were both happy
But maybe, we aint
People, people who need people
Are the luckiest people in the world
Were children needing other children
And yet letting our grown up pride
Hide all the need inside
Acting more like children than children
Lovers are very special people
Theyre the luckiest people in the world
With one person, one very special person
A feeling deep in your soul
Says you were half now youre whole
No more hunger and thirst
But first be a person who needs people
People who need people
Are the luckiest people in the world

Identity

the only identity i have
that will remain...
is in the eyes... of small
children, hungry and orphaned,
their families lost
to wars, earthquakes, floods,
disease, poverty...
children of different colors,
nationalities, faiths...
children without names.

i am their father, their mother,
their sister, their brother...
i am the answer to their hunger,
i am its cause.
i am their hunger!
i have no name.

Freedom Is For Children

I wrote the words of freedom,
Ive even sung the song.
But freedom is for children,
cause they dont understand whats wrong.
The children are so very lucky,
cause theyre not old enough to know.
Not old enough to realize,
But theyll find out as they grow.
The children are so very lucky,
But, on the other hand, whos gonna save the land?
The children are so very lucky,
But mans invention is gonna be the prevention of their life.
This song is nearly over,
And sos the world and the day.
Theres something missin,
But who will listen enough to do what it will take?
Freedom is for children. why cant it be for me?
Freedom is for children. why cant it be for me?
Freedom is for children. why cant it be for me?
Freedom is for children. why cant it be for me?
Freedom is for children. why cant it be for me?

Prayers of parents make a peaceful heaven to a home

Prayers of parents make a peaceful heaven to a home
The children who neglect their parents will be cursed,
The Nature makes such children’s house a hellish dome,
They are lucky children who are blessed by their parents,
It is said that there is a heaven under the legs of mother,
The children love or not to their mother but she loves all,
She embraces good or bad children but she can’t smother,
Mother is habituated to pray to God for all their happiness,
A few children won’t love their parents but love their wives,
In old age parents are in need of only their children’s love,
Who devote God, adore parents will be happy in their lives,
Love of parents always comes to children from the sky above,
God bless those children who are blessed by their parents,
And God curse those children who are cursed by their parents.

It Is All A Joke

It is all a joke
When people unknown
Come to your funeral
And drink beer and
cold mineral
They say it's such a
phenomenal
That we do not know
This man in a minimal.
But such people
are animals.
Wealthy children
Fail to aid aged parents.
But when dead
From hunger and frustration
Wealthy children
have such indignation
To flaunt their opulence.
Isn't that negligence?
Well, let's call it foolishness,
I even heard someone said
it's wickedness.

Decay Of Innocence

We value Nintendo, Xbox and PlayStation 3,
Over our ethics and the way the world should be.

Double quarter pounder, super sized coke and fries,
While Cambodians starve and children die.

We abuse our teachers and our schools,
While children slave on fields as labour tools.

This pen in my hand as I write this now,
Was manufactured by a child in a factory town.

We turn on the news; the new IPhone is here,
And we neglect the next segment of fatalities, famine and fear.

We are proud of our reputation; the fattest nation on earth!
While malnutrition plagues children from birth.

And we smoke our cigarettes and drink our beer,
Ignorant that we’re only bringing our own death near.

We permit factories to pump fossil fuels into the air,
Disregarding its effect: I don’t know… I don’t care.

Coral reefs die, Bush fires burn,
And mines empty the earth, while oil rigs churn.

We are devastated by Swine flu and the many that die,
Not shedding a tear, but for Michael Jackson we cry.

And sons of Palestine, bleeding in hospital beds,
Getting slaughtered by Israeli planes flying overhead.

We are aware of the economic crisis, feeling its pain,
However is it not conspicuous, we are to blame?

What will be of us once our IPods are broken, our pens write no more?
Once cigarettes, alcohol and drugs consume us all?

And long after the last corals are dead and forests burnt?
And long after fossil fuels plague the earth?

What’s done is done and we can’t change the past,
But the future is now and the future is us.

I was once the Cambodian hungry in my sleep,
I was once working in fields, blisters in my feet.

I was a child of malnutrition searching for food in an empty bin,
While others fuelled their addiction, on the streets, money in their tin.

I was once a child soldier at the age of ten,
And once worked in a factory to manufacture this pen.

I write this now not to boast or preach,
But to educate, inspire and to teach.

Equality is not a privilege, but a right to us all,
As is laughter for a child and playing football.

The sparkle in a child’s eye, the essence of innocence and to be gay,
Nothing should take that angelic nature away.

However neglecting the world, not looking beyond today,
Causes that innocence to decay.

The Blindfold

the devil came and covered our eyes
but he was in for a big surprise
GOD lifted the veil so that you could see
that this is not about you or me.

this is about the children of the world
every little boy and girl.
who is hungry for food and love
which was given to us from above.

look around you and what do you see
hunger and poverty.
children with no place to sleep
and no food to eat.
looking through the garbage
for a little treat.

the devil thrives on peoples fears
and doesn't give a damn about your tears.
he wants to put you through the aches and pains.
so that you will pull away from
GOD above, who gives us strength and love.

help all children, because you'll never know
if this is the way that they will go.

Children Of Persia

Children of persia
Some are the brothers of human kind
And own them, whatsoever their estate;
And some for, for sorrow and self- scorn
Man's enmity with unguarded fate
Feel the love tonight
I will cherished you children of persia
Children of persia I put a smile on the faces of you all
So show your smile for me in return
I give you praises
For being the children of persia
I light up your life children of persia
I share this music that fills my heart with you children of persia
This is your song children of persia
So let's sing it along
The magic comes along
God will lift up your spirit children of persia
If you need to cry children of persia
I will understand
Go ahead and cry
If you want to laugh
Laugh your heart out children of persia
I won't let you fall
Children of persia
I will never abandon you children of persia
This is your song
Let all your fears die children of persia
I am your friend children of persia
What are you going to do at the end?
Children of persia I believe you all could fly
Won't you light the way God for the children of persia?
Children of persia believe in your dreams
Don't give up your hopes children of persia
When tears are in your eyes children of persia I will dry them
I am on your side children of persia when times are rough
Children of persia
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night a candle glows
Children of persia
I believe that the prayers you are saying will be answered
Children of persia
Children of persia you all live from day to day
And you children of persia don't borrow from the sunshine
Children of persia your future is written in the stars
Children of persia I don't want to watch you all drown
Children of persia don't worry about tomorrow
Because tomorrow will worry for it's self
I don't want to hurt you children of persia
This is true
I am being honest with you all children of persia

Hungry Children

Everyday children around the world are starving,
Children has to go without food,
When their parents don't have the money to feed them,
All over the world, there are times,
When all children have went to bed without anything to eat.

Children die every single day,
Because they don't have,
Enough money to feed themselves.

Food should be free to low-income families,
So that the people who can't afford to feed their children can feed them,
Without having to worry that their children or themselves will die,
If food is free to these people,
We will have children for our next gernation.

We're All God's Children

Album: Peace In The Valley
Here comes a Baptist, here comes a Jew
There goes a Mormon and a Muslim too
I see a Buddist and a Hindu
I see a Catholic and I see you
We're all god's children
We're all god's children
We're all god's children
Why can't we be
One big happy family
You like the day, and I like the night
He's into country and he's isn't quit
There's folks on the left and the far right
But that doesn't mean that we have to fight
We're all god's children
All god's children
Yeah, We're all god's children
Why can't we be
One big happy family
White folks, yellow folks, black and tan
On the same planet in the same plan
A feminist woman and a he man
We're all playin' the magic hand
We're all god's children
We're all god's children
Oh, We're all god's children
Why can't we be
One big happy family
We're all god's children
All god's children
Yeah, We're all god's children
Why can't we be
One big happy family
We're all god's children
All god's children
We're all god's children
Why can't we be
One big happy family
We're all god's children
We're all god's children
Yeah, We're all god's children
Why can't we be
One big happy family
We're all god's children
We're all god's children
We're all god's children
We're all black and white
We're all precious in his sight
We're all god's children
We're all god's children
We're all god's children
Why can't we all be
One big happy family...

Children?

Children are the easily led,
Their learning is profound,
Their lift is happy and proud,
Why do parents forgive them?
We produce the fellow children
To lift and uplift each of us
When there happens a life.
Children need growth to boast,
To live and outlive, to death is their journey
After a life of straightforward happiness and bliss.
Felt good? Why children? Because, say Children,
We live among others who are like the mothers
In the land we call Children.
Child after child shall learn of the existing ones
That need admirals and generals of late.
The defence of a child is the greatest concern,
And I laugh at one who destroys life,
Ever in turmoil is a child because of this act.
Children will be enough to be today.
Children can upset no one who is old and ancient,
Selfless students are children.
However much you push and pull at the threads that children weave
And sort, and spread, and sew,
The adult will sew better and more often than a child.
That is the secret, children.

Booby Prize Or A Fine Romance? 2

Yesterday I wrote a joke poem,
Booby Prize Or A Fine Romance,
it told the story of how I met my wife,
all those years ago.
Yes, it was at her first husband’s funeral,
and yes a group of us
met a couple weeks later in a coffee bar,
but no it was not the drawing of a straw,
it was that I volunteered,
which I guess was lucky for me,
because on the 12th of September this year
we celebrate our 37th Wedding Anniversary.

Her first husband was a friend,
but he was a womaniser.
He met his dead in a suicide pact
with a fourteen-year-old girl.
He left a wife and two small children,
without a thought or care,
a month before Christmas that year.
Some said I was brave
to take on a ready-made family.
I do not think I was brave,
but very lucky that day.
We have had our ups and downs
like all families do,
but I would not change a bit of it.
The greatest gifts I received that day,
was a family for a lonely life,
and tolerance through trouble and strife.
Therefore, it is with thanks to them,
I am the man I am today.

There Are No Children Here

The untrained eye
Walks down the street
And sees children
But they're not children
There are no children here

Adults look back
With hungry eyes
And someone thinks
''They're just children
With a mother and a father
Never any fear''
And they kid themselves
As there are no mothers
No fathers
Because there are no children here

Terror doesn't care
As they cry over there
It lets someone stare
Through the sight of a gun
Seeing everyone
And just for fun
Shoot them

People rush around crying
''But they were just children!
They were just children! ''

A man with a gun
Turns and runs
But as he does they hear
''They aren't children''
And
''They weren't children''
And
''You need to know:
There are no children here''

No one makes a sound
Listening to the truth he's found
And they know:
It's our fault
We didn't save them
We could have saved them
If we cared
There would be children here
