Boot Sale
Car boot sale.
Car booties!
People are selling off paste tables,
They can be found in every nook and cranny,
Car parks, football fields and parks everywhere.
When you have seen one you have seen then all.
Bored faces being dragged from table to table,
People being charged silly money for total rubbish.
When they should have taken it to the Tip!

Off the Shelf
One fine day someone,
came into the store,
and took us off the shelf,
they threw their money down,
We were tossed into a bag,
so dark was it in there,
suddenly we heard lots
of people talking,
We were inside a smoked
filled room, this man pulled
us out of the bag, he then
opened our package we
were in, took us out,
He threw us onto
the table, after
placing money there,
'Darn it, he said,
I rolled snake eyes'.
He was so mad, he threw
us in the wastebasket,
and not the table again,
so that was where,
we stayed until the
next day, when some
kind person took us
out and said 'Hey,
I found me some dice'.
So that's what we are!

We know well enough that if we repeal this law and give nothing for it, the people of this country will regard it as a total demonetization of silver, which it will be, so far as this Congress is concerned, without any question.

The Tables and Chairs
The tables resent the chairs, apt to sit
Like the people who sit, forming froth
And food, tables so clean, a likeable soot.
This may disguise chemistry, even biology,
Between the anger and hatred is beauty,
Fully we admire them who talk of it.
The table is sweeter with food than the chair with people,
And who does not eat on this furniture of the soul,
This future of living, kindness is adored,
For we are abhorrent in conversation, in laughter.

The Bar Room has a corner table placed strategically at a point diagonally across from the entrance. the table of tables in the setting of settings in the building of buildings. In the religion of lunch, this is the holy of holies.

My little beautiful bird
The little beautiful bird
Of my heart, goes out and comes in
It flies like butterfly
One place to another flutter by
Over the parks and see the faces of lovers with glee
When it is over the slums it becomes very sorry
To see the people living without food and other accessory
It flies over the battle fields too
And see how one kills another and does all sorts of cruelty
It gives me mother of all insights at night
And tells all kinds of sweet and sour story
It lays eggs and hatched
A lot of themes for the world of poetry
It teaches me how to dream and how to make wishes
It teaches me how to imagine and how to make a sad face happy
it makes me in its own fantasy, a billionaire
and spends all the money for people's welfare.
it is always busy in my mind wishing happiness
to the humanity, irrespective of
religion, caste, colour and sex
the little beautiful bird of my heart is the kindest
it will continue to see the colourful fancies
and I know it will not take rest till death.

Religious Table
A table wooden to the bone cushions my side of the bone,
Tables and chairs, chairs and tables work hands and feet.
My real furnished appearance stages a welcome,
By talismans so religious and bold, and also stronger than the furniture.
The bones of a skeleton are brittle when time takes time,
Bone is sacred, bone is like a table of splendid nature.
My body is furnished with eyes and ears, faces so dear,
Letting light be knightly on the skin, with skin and skin.
The bones of religion collect by night and day,
Relics of the past demand recollection, everyday.

What I think we need to do to engage the American people in a conversation about entitlement reform is to have a bipartisan group of people who come together and put every solution on the table, every alternative on the table. And then we ought to engage in a long conversation with the American people so they understand the choices.

My Mom Sets the Table
Night after night my mom sets the table
full of joy she passes her hand over the green fleat
like dishes she lays her chips down
they her finest china carefully stacked
her drink is the insurance bet
night after night 21 meals are servered
6 people share the meal with her
we her family eat alone
yet night after night my mom sets the table
the table of broken dreams and poisoned meals
night after night she countinues to eat
untill is consumed
Night after night my mom sets the table
night after night we her family shallow the bitter meal she makes
Night after night my mom sets the table.....

What?
What is that strang air in the sky.
Why should a strange star pass me by.
How can you congratulate the people who destroyed the piece of mind,
The silly people just like you and better too.
How can you keep turning when the overture is burning on the faces
Of the people in the churches of the land.
Thats all a way that I cut from the lives.
The day has come at last.
People that cry in the boulevard,
Their eyes are blind they cry so hard.
How can you congratulate the people who destroyed the piece of mind,
The silly people just like you and better too.
How can you keep turning when the overture is burning on the faces
Of the people in the churches of the land.
Thats all it seems, there is only one dream.
The day has come at last.
Thats all it seems, there is only one dream.
The day has come at last.
What you have done makes me ashamed.
Ill blow it up and start again.
How can you congratulate the people who destroyed the piece of mind,
The silly people just like you and better too.
How can you keep turning when the overture is burning in the faces
Of the people in the churches of the land.
Thats all it seems, there is only one dream.
The day has come at last.

The Table of Hope
Inspired by JOEY VELASCO'S painting, HAPAG NG PAG-ASA
(The Table Of Hope)
Thank you, Lord for this wonderful show
Of happy faces, sincere and true
Without asking why who we are, what we wear
Without doubts, without fear, without a tear
Here we are in your table, your children in the street
Celebrating your birthday in the simplest way
In your table of hope, sharing your food
Where your presence is what we're after
Christmas miracle do happen,
Because you wanted it to be
You choose us, the weak, the poor and the lame
To share with you, to be with you
In the table of hope..in the table of hope..
Thank you, Jesus, for giving us hope
Thank you, Jesus, for Christmas
Note: thank you for reading. You can search
and type Joey Velasco in the Google website & You Tube

A Round Table
we have this round table
and we put all our hands
on it when we eat and
drink and just talk for
hours and hours and
listen. And we ask what
is happening: Karding
broke a leg and Delia
is looking for the money.
Always it is the money.
Always she is short of
the money. And there
were jewelries hanging
on her neck and arms
and fingers, and we all
ask at this round table:
what is happening?
Nothing, don't mind at
all, this is just a part of
the round table, some
wine glass that broke
and must be swept at
once. We keep away the
sound of a crying pig.
We eat pigs here at this
round table. Then we shifted
the talk about our dead
parents. We pray. We
remember we keep on
saying this. We finish eating
the pig. We drink a very
cold water. Our throats
are irritated and we step
out of the room wanting
to pull away our tongues.
when we come back the
round table is empty.
and we laugh about a
joke that we remember.
our childhood games
the river, and the boat
that father made for us.
we turn off the tv and we
begin to talk about the
beautiful flowers in mother's
old garden, the secret one.
we agree. we miss it.

Big Issue Vendor
It's funny how I kinda miss you
Standing on the corner selling The Big Issue,
Always a smile to earn some cash
Or a sorry-my-darling-but-I've-got-to-dash!
People ignoring you, some taking pity,
You're a part of the furniture in a modern city:
'Don't you think six children is rather a lot? '
'What kind of job has your partner got? '
Some people say it's money for drugs,
They give you nothing 'cos they're not 'mugs'.
So what has happened? Where have you gone?
Don't tell me, love, it really was a con! !
Perhaps you've moved to pastures new,
Found something much better that you can do,
If that's the case then I wish you well,
You've found an exit from your corner of hell,
People may blame you, the way people do,
But I'm saying nothing 'cos I haven't a clue!

The gypsies
You believed in the power
of rock crystals
and there were people
selling and displaying them
on rows of tables
in Brooklyn shopping mall.
Like mages they would discuss
the powers locked into
the stones,
but to me they were only rocks
of various types and colours,
and a just a group of gypsies
selling their wares.
Some old people
even bought some
believing in healing properties
for arthritis
and going along
I let you buy me a brown one
with strips of quartz running
with white lines right through it
and still it just another rock to me.

To put down an ideogram of a table so that people will recognize it as a table is not the work of a painter, but to sense it for a moment as a magic carpet with a leg hanging down at each corner is the beginning of a painter's imagination.

Relaxed Feet On The Table Surface
we do not wish to explore more
what life is
we are here we must live it
in daily celebration
i like the sunrise with my feet
comforted by the surface of the table
my shoes are dirty
but i never mind the weeping of the table cloth
i got lemonade on my hand
pancake glazed with pure honey from the farm
the world is standing still
i shy away from silly talk this time
